CSTRR: They cannot find jobs. Stop being silly. You know they can't. The recent graduates are more likely to find TA jobs because they are fresh and employment is shaped like a pyramid. You think being a senior lecturer is by simply claiming Unzik or UI? You must show your working and this especially is where they fall short. 1 Like |

nwekeugochukwu:. Any lecturer who wants to go abroad should go there. There are other qualified lecturers that can be employed to replace those who go abroad.. What have the lecturers achieved in their feilds? Same notes, same methods and same styles when new innovations are rampart in the advanced countries Even those in the medical feilds cannot even produce vaccines for Nigerians during the COVID 19. What is the noise all about? 2 Likes |

Leave to where, who will employ them? If they could leave would they not have already left? Do you hear Nigerian doctors threatening to leave….they go quietly because they are wanted! Nobody wants Nigerian lecturers, the reason most have a job in Nigeria is because the best brains are no longer in the Nigerian universities. 2 Likes |

FreeSpirited:My brother the matter tire me No wonder Nigerians, Nigerian leaders hate STEM, they hate anything that has to do with science of which medicine is part of. Do you know that calling them (Nigerians) a scientist is an insult? I am not surprised lecturers have joined the train of professionals migrating. Anything that has to do with research, intellect, they hate it with passion. But if it is to market their private parts on social media and national tv, that where you you will see them show their love and talent. 1 Like |

Pwettylinda: Make them leave na.... What is special about being a lecturer? Isn't it like other jobs? Which workers or employees aren't deserving of improved welfare? Nobody should feel more entitled. This is self centeredness. The call should be for an upward review of salaries and remuneration of workers, not just members of ASUU. No be same market we all dey buy from? People that keep recycling handouts of since the 1970s... What are they doing about sex for grades, cultism, drug abuse etc? Why isn't ASUU campaigning against these ills? Many of these lecturers have ventured, and are in politics like Goodluck Jonathan, Shehu Shegari, Yemi Osinbajo...what were their contributions to fixing the system. The rot in the Nigerian system actually stems from our universities, to a reasonable extent. There is corruption all over the university system, including in the SUGs. Let's not try to exonerate these lecturers from the mess. If dem give dem political appointment now, dem go, go tv dey defend government upandan. 1 Like |

FreeSpirited:If we're to tell ourselves the truth, most Nigerian lecturers don't teach anything to students. Only a few Godly ones care about passing knowledge across to students and go extra miles to at least try. The rest just come to class to talk to themselves and drop materials for students to go and cram. There were courses I took as an undergraduate that I never understood anything in class. What I did was go to YouTube and learn from American or Indian lecturers before I could understand those concepts. So, even while we advocate for better funding of our universities and remuneration of the lecturers, let it also be known that the majority of the lecturers are not worth the pay they demand in terms of knowledge impartation to students. Not really that they're not knowledgeable enough but greed and outright wickedness made them not to care about passing on knowledge to students, especially those of them that lack believe in the God factor or goodness of heart. 1 Like |

I stand with the lecturers in this saga. That being said, if the lecturers had the opportunity, they would've left already. This court judgement has nothing to do with that. But why are people that matters not questioning the govt. The journalists don't even take govt to task anymore. You signed at least 2 MOU, had series of agreement with the lecturers only to break your promise. Who will take such govt serious? |

TimmyTen: This government ehn, when you force lecturers to class, do they think any productivity or intellectual exercise will happen, the students will still suffer it. How will a poorly paid, better still owed lecturer conduct test or exams for students and expect them to pass! Students supporting government should know they are at the receiving end. Whether selfish or otherwise, students should stand behind ASUU cos happy lecturers = happy and more happy students= more intelligent and productive society =growth and development. |
