Politics / Re: Tinubu Presents Budget Wednesday, FEC Okays $1 Billion Loan by 735i(m): 8:08am On Nov 28, 2023
DiamondPant:

The loan has an 8 years moratorium.
Tinubu has already started spending money that Nigeria will make in 2031 (when he must have left office).
As it stands, politicians have spent Nigeria's money for at least 15 years ahead!!
They borrow money to make forex available.
They'll inject forex into the "economy". The naira will appreciate against the dollar.
They sell the dollars to themselves.
Then they allow the naira crash again and their accumulated dollars have higher naira equivalents.
They'll withdraw in naira, borrow again to strengthen the naira. Buy back the borrowed dollars, allow the naira to crash and they cash out again.
And the cycle continues!

This is the scariest part oh. Repayments will start after he leaves government. How his supporters can't see that their principal is a criminal amazes me...

Why is it infamous?

What are the pros and cons?

If the engine is not good, why did BMW create and put it there?

Can another engine work?

Infamous because it is loved by petrol heads who love to run tunes for increased performance and loathed by regular users due to the peculiar failure of certain components.

Pros: you can easily crank out 450hp with slight modifications, con: you can't afford to fail with maintenance

Don't get me wrong, the engine is good, but it's BMW's initial foray into turbo charged engines for the 5 series. so, it's only normal that there'd be a couple of gremlins.

I can find out if the engine can be swapped. if it can, what you'd need to get will be the N55 which if I'm not mistaken, should be in the neighborhood of N3m right now

I have always admired German cars from a distance. Most especially, BMWs.
My cars have been japanese. Toyota and Honda. My last car was a Honda Evil spirit. That car was a beauty. Sad to let her go.

Today, I became a proud owner of a 2008 BMW E60 535i.
smiley

You got the infamous N54 engine.
Make sure you stay up to date with maintenance and as often as you can, use octane boosters.
Although it's one of the marque's most potent engine, it can cause you heart and wallet ache if you're not up to date with preventive maintenance.

In all sincerity, the clearance is low and the bumper will take the first hit. But I "kicked" the shock to solve that .
The good news is that the legs (shaft, shocks, tie rods etc) can withstand any road.
And it can enter any water because the underneath is almost flat, no hanging part like exhaust so some hits that corolla do take from under in spite of the clearance, hyundai can avoid

Just get a mechanic that understand the sensors (or can read and interpret codes) because a nonfunctional sensor can make a corolla mechanic to start buying and changing parts

I used the 2014 Avalon for about a year.

During the period, i travelled to the east three times. The first time i travelled with it, i appreciated the powerful 2GR engine. However, because of the low suspension, the belly of the car suffered on bad patches of the highway.

So i decided to 'kick" the suspension when i got back to Lagos.

Second time i travelled with it, i almost had an accident on my way back to Lagos.

The raised suspension totally messed up handling and aerodynamics.

The third time i travelled with it, i knew i was done. the car had become wavy and unbalanced unlike the first time i travelled with it. "Sold it immediately afterwards.

However, the fuel economy is super for a V6. Used just a little more than half tank from Lagos to Awka on my first trip. Averaged 24.6mpg

Nice to a fault.

He invested too much on extended family.
Same extended family are now fighting his children.
My cousins have made some unsavory comments now that he's late.

The scientific way to answer this question is that we need to find out the startup load specific to your 1.5hp inverter AC and inverter fridge.

The best way to do that is using a device that measures that startup load.

Or alternatively, share it here for others to help you decode, or you yourself studying and decoding the product datasheets.

Thanks Bro. Will look through the product data sheet.

This one has rear end damage. It just might be the only thing wrong with it. And since it's not xdrive, might be worth risking. Plus the N52 is a reliable, robust engine.

Definitely.....if my 5kva felicity can power our 1.5hp submersible pump comfortably, I don't see why a 5.5kw inverter will be having issues starting any of your above mentioned load. 5kva inverter should be able to power at least 3hp motor load conveniently

Thanks boss. What of batteries? Which would you recommend? And how many units would be sufficient?

March 2022. Returning to Lagos from Asaba.

I was busy serving dust to other road users. Hiace oh, Sienna oh, ML350 4matic oh, I humbled them.

Until a 2008 or 2009 Lexus 460 came from no where and served me better dust. Fortunately, there was a police check point ahead so i eventually caught up with him at the check point.

I eye the driver, he eye me.... i smile, the werey sef smile. Wa'sere!! You wan race your papa abi?

The Lexus got out of the check point before me and took off. As soon as i got out of the check point, I switched to sport mode.

Took me about 4 minutes to spot the Lexus guy ahead. Immediately i saw him, i flashed my headlights 2ce, then floored the pedal.

Caught up with him quite easily.... Just before I overtook him, nicca wound down his glass, gave a thumbs up and took off.

I no even bother again. I just switched back to comfort mode and enjoyed the rest of my trip.

How can I be on 200km/h and someone will make it look like i'm not even moving sad

Since that day, i vowed never to race any V8 saloon.

Oh, BTW, I was driving a '14 BMW 5 series.

you asking for the best??
get a victron 5kw, if you have close to 1.5m to spend on inverter

get a deye 5kw/8kw, if you have close to 1m to spend.

get a phocos [german branded ]5.5kw inverter if you have about 700k to spend on inverter

get a generic china brand inverter - powmr/sorotec revo series/anern etc...if your budget is about 500k for inverter

for battery, I recommend a 10kw or 14kw 48v lithium battery pack, ranges from 1.3m to 3m..depending on type/model

Edit; the victron isnt a hybrid so you are going to factor extra 300k to 700k buying a standalone 80 to 100amps mppt charge controller.

The other inverters are hybrids, they have inbuilt charge controller

Pardon my ignorance oh.

Will a Phocos 5.5kw with 4 (200ah) batteries conveniently power a 1.5hp inverter AC, an inverter fridge and 2 TV's?

If yes, will i need solar panels too?

What will this set up cost me (excluding panels) and can you assist with the project?

Wrll,I've been able to move it out. My tie rod got bent and the useless ball joint I bought brand new for 19k,it came off,I mean the point like cylinder metal I the middle of the rubber came off. I had to revert back to the tokunbor that was thr b4 and I was able to move. No more squeaky sound while turning steering ,it only remains to change the tie rod complete and buy toks shock absorber. In my life,I will never buy brand new again. It looks like the brand new, they used gum to hold the ball joint or super glue. Will snap when I'm relaxed ,cos my mechanic came by 8 40 am inside heavy rain,we both did it and rain beat me like mad,now I have fever. I have learnt my lesson, never to buy brand new parts, esp ball joints and tie rod. I will buy brand new one from abroad, than nigeria. God really loves me because I fired the lexus to 150kph on smooth straight road for almost 1hr,around 9PM, i let me drive out from my pot hole area ,that was when the passenger tyre came out, hooked my fender and gbam I was stuck. I will never buy brand new something again . Igbos are useless and they sell fake refurbished parts, spray it wil silver,it will look like brand new.The only brand new I can buy is brake pad. Naija na scam. U can imagine, the ball joint body was intact, rubber in tact, clup intact, but the middle came off. Pls if u drive toyota or lexus, pls always change your ball joints every 6 months. U can imagine the tokunbo ball joint I bought in March, was what my mechanic put back, from the useless fake ball brand new ball joint I got two months ago. My own was that rand new ball joint would last me 2years,not knowing na just 2 months. Tmrw I will be going back to panel beater to hit back my fender, and I would be avoiding pot holes on passenger side, cos that's where the weight is on.lexus and toyota fumbled.
You are an unfortunate fellow. I can tell that easily from your posts.
You have blamed everyone but yourself.
Chances are that you bought a car with undercarriage damage and you're now suffering for it.
You laughed when it happened to someone else and you come here expecting us to feel sorry for you.
If you like, don't look for genuine OEM parts and buy.
Continue blaming people.

If truly your ride was imported with above 200k miles and it’s been simple maintenance ever since for you then you’re luckily among the 10% of bmw high mileage owners who haven’t been touched by the devil within the beast wink

Even online reviews about bmw from the ones who use them new before shipping to us down here say the exact same story

Got it at 197k miles. The maintenance history was 95%. Single owner who did a lot of interstate travel.

You should read the reviews from European owners. 350k miles on BMW diesel engines without any major part replacement is very common.

North Americans just don't have the temperament and skills to maintain BMW's.

But seriously

Assuming the design was inverted whereby the hideous red type was visible in the daytime and the white was displayed at night I’d give your ride a 90% pass mark wink

The layout is nice . . . But the light pattern is just meeh sad
One can actually code it to operate that way. But naa... I love this way.

When it comes to reliability everybody knows that once a bmw crosses 150k miles it has a 90% chance to suddenly become a money pit no matter the amount of careful maintenance the owner has put into it.

I’m still waiting for 735i to show me his instrument cluster till now undecided

Note that I'm now on 217k miles. Got it at almost 200k miles.
This talk about reliability is really for people who do not know how to maintain their vehicles.
I can wake up at 3am and decide to hit Asaba without fears.
Some of your so called reliable cars will not dare.
How many Japanese cars in Nigeria are over 200kmiles without Christmas lights all over their dash?
