Wrll,I've been able to move it out. My tie rod got bent and the useless ball joint I bought brand new for 19k,it came off,I mean the point like cylinder metal I the middle of the rubber came off. I had to revert back to the tokunbor that was thr b4 and I was able to move. No more squeaky sound while turning steering ,it only remains to change the tie rod complete and buy toks shock absorber. In my life,I will never buy brand new again. It looks like the brand new,they used gum to hold the ball joint or super glue. Will snap when I'm relaxed ,cos my mechanic came by 8 40 am inside heavy rain,we both did it and rain beat me like mad,now I have fever. I have learnt my lesson,never to buy brand new parts,esp ball joints and tie rod. I will buy brand new one from abroad,than nigeria. God really loves me because I fired the lexus to 150kph on smooth straight road for almost 1hr,around 9PM, i let me drive out from my pot hole area ,that was when the passenger tyre came out,hooked my fender and gbam I was stuck. I will never buy brand new something again . Igbos are useless and they sell fake refurbished parts,spray it wil silver,it will look like brand new.The only brand new I can buy is brake pad. Naija na scam. U can imagine,the ball joint body was intact,rubber in tact,clup intact,but the middle came off. Pls if u drive toyota or lexus,pls always change your ball joints every 6 months. U can imagine the tokunbo ball joint I bought in March,was what my mechanic put back,from the useless fake ball brand new ball joint I got two months ago. My own was that rand new ball joint would last me 2years,not knowing na just 2 months. Tmrw I will be going back to panel beater to hit back my fender,and I would be avoiding pot holes on passenger side,cos that's where the weight is on.lexus and toyota fumbled.

You are an unfortunate fellow. I can tell that easily from your posts.
You have blamed everyone but yourself.
Chances are that you bought a car with undercarriage damage and you're now suffering for it.
You laughed when it happened to someone else and you come here expecting us to feel sorry for you.
If you like, don't look for genuine OEM parts and buy.
Continue blaming people.

Got it at 197k miles. The maintenance history was 95%. Single owner who did a lot of interstate travel.

You should read the reviews from European owners. 350k miles on BMW diesel engines without any major part replacement is very common.

North Americans just don't have the temperament and skills to maintain BMW's.

Assuming the design was inverted whereby the hideous red type was visible in the daytime and the white was displayed at night I’d give your ride a 90% pass mark

The layout is nice . . . But the light pattern is just meeh

One can actually code it to operate that way. But naa... I love this way.

Note that I'm now on 217k miles. Got it at almost 200k miles.
This talk about reliability is really for people who do not know how to maintain their vehicles.
I can wake up at 3am and decide to hit Asaba without fears.
Some of your so called reliable cars will not dare.
How many Japanese cars in Nigeria are over 200kmiles without Christmas lights all over their dash?

Can't speak to older models. But my '14 5 series has white light during the day.
It only turns orange when you turn on the parking or headlights.
Funny enough, if the headlights are on in daytime, the instrument cluster remains white.
The change in the instrument cluster from white to orange is controlled by sensors that are completely independent the headlights.

It's called R & D .
Changes are made based on research.
The switch to white lights doesn't necessarily mean that the orange lights were a mistake.
That Toyota has 8 speed automatics today doesn't mean the previous 6 speed automatics were mistakes.
No. Technology evolved.

I didn't know we were debating. I simply shared my perspective on an issue. That's all.
This same question of dashboard illumination was posed daily by BMW owners until BMW engineers explained the rationale behind the orange lights.

Their explanation makes sense to me till this moment. And frankly, that's all that matter to me.

2005 upwards Mercedes Benz used a shade of white instrument cluster. The top picture is from a W204, middle picture is from a 2012 Porsche Panamera and the bottom is from a 2015 bmw 7 series. It is safe to say bmw realized their silly error and switched to white abi?

It may interest you to know there is a brightness adjustment setting or knob in most cars for their instrument cluster.

I'm slightly bemused at the comments here.

The orange lights in the interior of the BMW is a deliberate design to minimize eye fatigue during night driving.

In developed nations where road safety is a thing, driving all through the night is quite normal.

White interior lights will strain the eyes way faster than the orange lights used by BMW.

The Germans know this. That's why MB, VW and Audi won't do that tacky white lights you'd see in Japanese cars.

It's actually amusing to see people compare the lighting and ambience of a 5 series to a Camry. Smh.

If Nigerians actually buy genuine OEM parts, Toyota fan base would reduce.
Bought same part (OEM) for a 2014 BMW for N360k a few months back.
The thing with these OEM's, they may seem expensive, but you won't have to replace them for years!!

I'd advice you get a whole salvaged car (same specs and model as yours). Get one with rear or chassis damage. Take out the engine and keep the other valuable parts that are prone to replacements - cos even those parts will be hard to source locally.

Before you do all these though, let me ask: Do you have comprehensive insurance. If yes, check to see if your cover has flood extension, If it does, just call your insurance company and give them bill sharply.

About to pick up a 2015 ML350. It'll be first personal foray into the MB world so I'm not sure what to look out for.

Please drop tips and advice to help me carry out a good inspection.

Mileage is low (less than 50k) so that's some consolation.

Ignore that fellow. 2GR FE wey i flog for my Avalon. Damn reliable engine! and damn powerful too! I copped 14k kms in less than a year. Any small excuse that year, i done dey travel go east. The only things i changed within that period were linkages, brakes, tyres and normal servicing.
