What most people don't know is that, when ASUU see the disgrace, they were the one calling for truce not the government.

Lesson, " know when to hold off and know when to run" meaning gun is not the only ammunition for war. Infact negotiation is the biggest.
When you negotiate from the position of power, yea it's the biggest

If ASUU can be on strike for 8months under presido BUHARI, then you should know that once JAGABAN mistakenly becomes the next president na 3yrs and 8months strike. My people make we vote wisely oh because these sets of people don't really value humans. A FOOD FOR THOUGHT TO ALL NIGERIANS.

Lecturers will take their vengeance on students! many of them will compromise

May God restore and bless all our faithful lecturers.

If your lecturers are "faithful lecturers", why are u afraid that they will be vengeful to students? Or is being vengeful against students the only thing they are faithful at doing?

Congratulations to Nigeria students

Suspension of strike - the losers and the winners:
1. ASUU: they will receive withheld salary, 50 billion has been mapped out for earn allowance, 170 billion for salary increment and 250 billion for revitalization. With all these, the strike was SUSPENDED conditionally. ASUU ARE AMONG THE WINNERS

2. Speaker house of rep.: Femi took it upon himself to mediate between ASUU and the president. His effort paid. ASUU, the students and his party APC see him as a hero. His effort will impact positively on his political career. FEMI IS AMONG THE WINNERS

3. FG: They won on issue of payment platform. The burden of financing higher institution has been partially transfered to schools and by extension to students and parents thereby partly relieving FG. For the rulling party, strike will no longer be a problem during campaigns. FG IS AMONG THE WINNERS

4. STUDENTS: They have lost 8 months which can not be recovered. FG insisted that from 2024 earn allowance will be generated by universities. That means there will be great increase in tuition fees. Students may have to pay between 150k to 1 Millon depending on the course of study and school. STUDENTS ARE AMONG THE LOSERS

4. CHRIS NGIGE: He fought ASUU and the minister of education. Insisted on increase in tuition fees. He did what he could to frustrated the effort of negotiation committee. He blackmailed the presidency and probably tried to use ASUU to frustrate his political party against next election. At the end his effort was in vain. His political party is calling for his sack. He is seen in bad light by ASUU, other ministers and his party. NGIGE IS AMONG THE LOSERS.

With the current fees that is paid as school fees, there is no way governing councils will fund earned allowance without a significant increase in school fees..

Expect school fees to be toping 1m depending on the course of study

ASUU won't strike until late 2023 or early 2024 whether FG implement their agreement or not because they know it would be a suicide mission if they do before then
Ask lecturers what they passed through due to no work no pay policy unlike past strikes that they were still paid while doing nothing grin

It would appear that you do not sufficiently appreciate the issues at stake here. Successive Nigerian Governments overtime have been irresponsible and unmindful in the handling of tertiary education such that it’s existence became threatened. It required a strong hand to get the FG to do the needful. Sadly it is not an election issue. Nigerians share in the blame.

Plus or minus, the government got what it wanted, the students are going back to school, their parents are happy that's all that matter right now. ASUU allowed politicians to use the union for personal interest. It was stupidity to have stretched the strike this long and the government just proved to ASUU and other union that no one has monopoly of stupidity.

If you understood the word "conditionally" , I am sure you'll not say what you are saying. ASUU has suspended the strike, but may decide to go on strike again in no distant time, and the cycle continues.
