I think there should be another way for a union to pour out their displeasure apart from going on strike because it doesn't affect the government they are fighting. The innocent students suffered it.you can imagine a whole eight months .
... ASUU has tried to see and meet the government, written letter to government, call government on phone but the federal government ignores them....so it's only through ASUU strike the federal government will want to come and listen to ASUU and attend to ASUU issues and meet with ASUU to settle the matter....in nigeria it's only through strike you can get government attention to attend to you and answer you...if you write letter to government or call them on phone concerning the your problems they will not answer you

They can't appeal the court ruling asking them to suspend unless they first suspend it. You can see the government have them boxed in a corner.
Knowing when to back off and fight another day is a skill they lack! Who says there wont be another strike when the lecturers don't know that there is a thin line between DEMANDS and BLACKMAIL. They crossed that line and the FG had to bring the weight of the law on them.

What a shame .
Guess PMBs government held ASUU by the jugular, hence they had no other option than to retreat.
Enough of toying with the future of the youths.
Everytime, strike , strike , strike.
Are they the only union affected by situation of the country since years past ?
Better to jaw jaw than war war.
They should have waited for FG to proscribe the union and arrest the leaders for contempt of court.
The breakfast would have been sweet.
Hope they won't get paid for awoof 8 months of doing nothing ?

You people would soon understand that ASUU won this war! Watch out for the next information

Story, ASUU are no longer the only kids on the block. They have two unions to contend with just like how TUC was cut from NLC. If ASUU goes on strike without the input of the other unions, it will flop from the beginning. And trust FG to fund the new unions underground so as to weaken ASUU.

Note: ASUU has not yet submitted it’s 5 years audited reports to the Authorities. That’s is a ground to desolve the group.

If u wan fight to finish with government, na you go lose in the end.

If you're a wise parent don't waste your money sending your kids to school based on this news else they'll be roaming on campus till the end of the year. Lecturers have decided to be warming their office chairs until they see the alert they want.

There are lots of Scholarship in Nigeria for Undergraduate 2022, but many Nigerians don’t know about them. In fact, if I knew what I know now, I would have won lots of scholarships in Nigeria, because some of them are easier than we thought.

If you get into the university system for a minute and come back to read this rubbish you wrote, you'll not forgive your ignorance in a decade. CONUA is to the university system as LAPO is to the banking system...no competition whatsoever!

Strike is suspended conditionally is not that the FG has won.

The way people reason .

If u were ASUU president,u won't do otherwise.

Probably, they will resume and not work or will strike In 2 weeks time. Something has condition, people are so daft to understand, they are already jubilating.

When you say Federal govt irresponsibility , can you explain how?

Only an irresponsible government will wait until workers threaten to or go on strike before it attend to their needs. ASUU should not be the one telling the government to furnish and equip tertiary institutions in the country. It shouldn't be the one to tell FG to improve the working conditions of its staff. If the FG is responsible and alive to its responsibilities, ASUU's selfishness will be too glaring for all to see.

Again, pay attention to the next information when it's out- you will then realize who won the battle.

By the way, do you even know how inconsequential Conua is? Extremely miniscule population which is mainly domicile in one university apart from scanty representation elsewhere.

Do you think ASUU's demands aren't met?! If not, they wouldn't have called the strike off.

They would be paid ooo bro. ASUU is not immune from the economic hardship bedeviling the nation for crying out loud. Why they chose not to be rational, understandable and sensitive as they fight for their requirements is really disturbing.

The FG has succumbed to ASUU's demands by putting the revitalization of universities in the 2023 budget!

The national assembly speaker was the one who convinced the President in his report after meeting with the two warring parties....The FG has also made plans to make a special payment platform like the Ippis for only universities!

Furthermore,The FG has also agreed to pay the striking lecturers their salaries for the months they have been on strike!

The FG has no power under the constitution to proscribe ASUU....if draconian head of state abacha could not succeed, how do you think a civilian president will do so?

You guys should be properly informed before making assumptions you cannot substantiate!

What most people don't know is that, when ASUU see the disgrace, they were the one calling for truce not the government.

Lesson, " know when to hold off and know when to run" meaning gun is not the only ammunition for war. Infact negotiation is the biggest.
ASUU in all fairness are the ones that have been negotiating and shifting grounds!
When the FG setup two different committees to agree with the union,ASUU agreed with them and when the report was sent to the presidency,it was rejected!
How many agreements have been made since 2009 and how many have been kept by the FG?
