Political leaders and socio-cultural organizations from the South-East geo-political zone have tackled President Bola Tinubu over perceived lopsidedness in the ministerial nominations, describing his action as a calculated attempt to continue the marginalization of Ndigbo.

Yoruba Elders Meet Jonathan To Complain About Marginalisation - Smh

Written by Leon Usigbe, Abuja

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan met with a delegation of the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), led by Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo (retd), in the State House, on Thursday, as the leaders complained about being left out in the top six posts in the country.

The delegation also demanded for the dissolution of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), which they observed had been unable to fulfill the objectives of its establishment, while also asking for action of the deplorable roads in the South-West.

But responding to their requests, President Jonathan said he was concerned about adherence to the principle of federal character and the zoning formula adopted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and he had tried to ensure that no section of the country was left out in the scheme of things by accommodating them in the subsequent appointments he had made.

According to him, “the issue of federal character and position, especially those political offices, were quite worrisome to me, but we had to achieve political balancing and federal character.

“That is why this thing you describe as zoning was to make sure that every zone should be represented in the one you describe as top six, but for some political reasons, it was not possible. But on my own, in terms of appointments, I tried to see that the way appointment was made, you will agree with me that the appointments we have made so far did not exclude any section.”

He promised that he would not preside over a government that would margninalise any section of the country.

Jonathan lauded the role of Yoruba elders in the 2011 presidential election, which enabled the PDP to win in the South-West saying that the success was made possible because of the leadership.

On the request for the dissolution of the NDDC, Jonathan said though there were many complaints about the commission, it could not be dissolved because it was made up of management and staff.

Jonathan restated his commitment to ensure that things were done differently in the country, adding that corrupt officials would no longer be allowed to go scot free, while outstanding performers would be rewarded.

Government of Yoruba for Yoruba by Yoruba

Yet, they are still the ones since this renewed hardship has emerged, that have been caught engaging in broad daylight robbery of bread due to severe hunger.

The other day, one of their son died, these sophisticated people still extorted money from his family and other celebrities before he could be allowed to be buried in peace still due to hunger. His family members were seen at his burial site planning how to take over his properties from his wife, as hunger don too much.

Is God not wonderful. They wan teach other people politics since 1970 yet these people we no dey hear say dem don turn beggar abi dem no go school again. Their country just dey sink dey go. grin grin

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Zacch Adedeji as the acting chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS).

Until his recent appointment, Adedeji was formerly the special adviser to Tinubu on revenue.

He was a former Commissioner of Finance during the administration of later Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi.

Adedeji, a certified accountant who hails from the Iwo-Ate area of Ogo-Oluwa local government of Oyo state, recently bagged his doctorate degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

stuuuuupid yorubas , after collecting 50 kobo before election to be marginalised they want to come back. anyway GEJ should have given them wh\t they really came for(money) so they can shut up, these yorubas hate themselves soo much even more then they hate other groups, imagine after 8 years of obasanjo yoruba land is competing with the north for position of the most backward region in nigeria .

President Bola Tinubu has approved the nomination of Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso to serve as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for a term of five (5) years at the first instance, pending his confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

This directive is in conformity with Section 8 (1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which vests in the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the authority to appoint the Governor and Four (4) Deputy Governors for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), subject to confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Bimpe29:
Just like I candidly observed when President Muhammad Buhari ceded the majority of the military/security formation appointments to the Northern part of Nigeria, noting that the spirit of the federal character principle must be observed and complied with.

Alas! President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's style is really more unpleasant and nepostic as he isn't considering the totality of Southern Nigeria but just a subset thereof, South West/Yoruba.

The lopsidedness is eternally unthinkable and undesirable in a mega country that's practically exist along divergent ethnic groups. In all honesty, having:
1. Minister of Finance,
2. Accountant General of the Federation,
3. CBN Governor,
4. Comptroller General of Custom and
5. Chairman FIRS
All from the same tribe and within the same subset of a certain geo political zone is truly unfair and left much to be desired.

Hence, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is humbly required to depart from that unpleasant format, and entrench equity and equitable distribution of national offices particularly with respect to the management of the nation's economy and financial resources.

Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians irrespective of tribe and religious affiliation.

It's my prayer that God will make it easy for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to effectively pilot the enormous affairs of this nation in such a manner that our dreams are met and fulfilled in no distant time Aameen.
