If you are not married know that the discipline of children lies in the hands of both parents,reject ,"I will tell your dad" because it is a trap to set you up against your children. As your wife shows motherly love to them, by all means show fatherly love. You may not have the time to be close to them but let them be able to tell their friends,"my dad bought it for me".
