Continue joking..

I am not an emotional man, but a very practical man.

I always look for the reward, bf I do anything..

Imagine Nigeria is the poverty capital, despite the high end discipline and flogging by Nigerian parents on their children..

Don't you think, something is wrong?

Pls don't blame the government..

Tell me what is wrong...

As for failure, real men like me are not scare of it, we learn from it, it's our teacher, part of our history..

It's also our lunch pad.

Failure is not our destinstion, it's part of the journey..

What is wrong is simply because because never learn what God teaches and they will always end up in one of the many bad places which fills this world.

So I decided to spend the weekend at my uncle's place because it has been many years I went there.

In the midnight, around 1am, I heard the television was on and I thought he forget to put it off.

So I went to the living room only to see his son of about 4-5 years old watching cartoon. I was shocked and asked him to go and sleep, which he grudgingly agreed.

Now, early morning around 5am or so, same thing happened. I want to the living room and saw him there.

This time he refused to go to bed.

I later found out that's how he does. I wonder if he ever sleeps at night.

The parents are not even bothered, but I'm worried. When we were growing up, who are you to stay awake past 9pm watching TV? Not to talk about waking up at night. Even in the day time you better not be caught idling away on front of the TV when others are busy.

This one just comes to the living room anytime he likes and puts on the TV.

Is this how kids of nowadays behave?

Bad parenting. This is what happens when you give birth to children with no plans of raising them properly. Before you know it he will start watching midnight porn grin grin grin they have spoilt the child already.

Parenting is failing on the children of this generation since 1999. The ones born between 2003 to date don't even have parents.

OP, have you ever heard of the concept of "genetic insomnia"?

It is an inherited case of sleeplessness. I was born with it. Try as much as I could, it's a trait I was never able to get rid of to this day. I practically function optimally with just 1hour of sleep out of 24hours. It used to be quite better when I was a child. I could sleep for about 4hours before the sleep fades and I have to toss in bed until the day breaks. When I got of age and could afford the bills, I sought medical help. There was literally nothing that was prescribed that worked. Overtime, I simply gave up on trying to cure something that was clearly not an ailment. Now, if I have to sleep for more than an hour, I have to resort to eating a bit of weed and that helps to give me about 3 or 4hours of sleep at the very most.

Now the very fact the parents of that child let him stay up with the television might not be a case of an addiction to the screen, but simply an inability for him to sleep. And those parents already recognise that. So don't paint a sordid or deformed picture of another's child. When your own born, if e no gree sleep, you fit use bicycle kick send am go bed.
Insomnia as reason to fill a 4-5 year old brain with TV even in the AM ? Which doctor talk that one? undecided

So in your mind, you first need to check a person's upbringing before you can realize whether he or she is an arsehole or not? undecided

2. So because the masses are arseholes, that provides justification for the rich arseholes to screw them over? undecided

3. The real world only cares about qualifications and what you can offer, and so all arseholery is suddenly allowed? It is OK for a rich arsehole to rape the poor so long as his qualifications and what he has to offer has been accepted? undecided

a 4-5yrs old already know how to switch on the tv and decoder and operate the remote controller to his desired channels. I think that child will be very smart and intelligent, and someone who is smart to that will apply same intelligent to his studies aswell. He can't be an olodo. Going to bed lately will only results into sleep deprivation or fatigue
Fatigue leads to lack of concentration. Operating a T.V/decoder doesn't make him intelligent.

This is not a reason, a kid can watch tv all night and still meet up fine with his/her responsibilities

All your analysis so far on parenting are based on feral European values, and I truly believe you are not a parent yet, and not an African parent at best.

I have a son who got a fully funded undergraduate scholarship to study in an American University, along with others from Nigeria here. And he with majority of other Nigerian colleagues in his set came out summa cum laude (First Class) from the university, and were well celebrated. Why because they were all well trained on Nigeria ethical values. So your theory that Nigerian students are underperforming has no basis.

There are also many universities in Nigeria whose standards are high for admission and studies, and there are many young children who got in and are doing well despite this. Why, because their parents inculcate in them good moral values of hardwork and serious ambition.

So bra, teach your kids good manners when they are young and under your control if you want peace of mind at your old age.

The funny part is that their type of discipline makes kids even dumber

This is why all this developed countries are way ahead of us, we can’t reason why it’s wrong to do something but willing to die on it because we just feel it’s wrong, and that’s final
