There is lot of money in abroad. Plenty money.

Going abroad and get money is not for lazy people.
Many people that got work permit could not save enough money to renew their work permit. They just lament and lament.

I can happily pay for a hard working relative that isn't doing well at home.

you're talking trash oga, the person you quoted has explained everything to you yet you're talking out of point. If you enter UK with occupational skilled visa , you can't do any other job except the one assign to you. Do you get it.

It is pointless arguing with people like you.

If I were you I will calm down. Imagine saying I'm talking trash... Very typical of the Nigerian oversabi mindset.

Have you wondered how people who overstay their visas manage to survive?

Maybe this will make you think outside the box.

People like you are the type who have the foolish entitlement mindset and will be looking for a befitting job.

Well someone up there said they can only do the job they got the visa for and those jobs are nonexistent. So I guess …

Don't mind him.

Many people just sit with their phones to write trash.

Let me bust your bubble... Do you know that many Nigerians reject the work they came in for?

Read that article again. I see people come into the UK and say they can never do care job WHICH WAS EXACTLY WHAT THEY GOT SPONSOR FOR...

They will say they can't clean shit or take care of people so they start looking for another job BETTER than that.

They will never want to start with cleaning job because in their minds the cleaning job is an embarrassment having spent so much to come in.

Bro forget these ignorant people typing what they don't know.

UK IS a fantastic country that is a million times better than Nigeria and if you are not lazy or foolishly picky, you will eat the fruits of the land.

Exactly my point.

I'm so sorry to say this but most Nigerians have this annoying entitlement mentality.

If you know what 5years work permit visa can do for you, "paying 10k" to get it is like a child's play compared to what you will benefit. Even if you start from cleaning for £10 an hour, you will still make enough by month end and you can build from there but these dumb Nigerians come to the UK hoping to get white collar jobs.

Many undocumented people in America and UK go into arranged marriages spending about £20k yet fail to secure residence permit and all is in the bid to be able to live and work legally.

This lady who granted this interview is stupid, dumb Nd brainless.

How i wish the home office could do their job and revoke her visa cos she is foolish not to understand that buying that visa is even a crime.

Some Nigerians are just so freaking stupid.
you are right, but still just throwing emotional tantrums. I say that cos while we know most of the Nigerians wey carry this craze for head are stupid, you people on nairaland travel section as a case study especially are feeding the craze, and you'd be a liar not to admit this.

No be this same travel section Justwise and some others were calling myself and pocohantas liar when we stated clearly and plainly most of the people in our circle aside tech, healthcare professionals ie docs, nurses, radiographers, physiotherapist etc were doing low wage jobs notably care work for like 90% of this people who largely went on student visa, not even work visa? Was it not called bad belle despite that evidently even in that living in the UK thread, the job that pops up MOST that people themselves say they do in discussions there is care? Telling the truth as it is was called bad belle. I said it to the point that even my wife that was singing the song in my ear, I sat her down and told her the reality say me I no fit leave boss level come dey do boy-boy even in USA, much less UK. Shey she go do dependant dey do the work make me go do PhD or another MSc, she no talk since then.

Did you guys like me, tell them the truth about what to expect as per jobs when coming to the UK without specialised skills?? No be to dey put lipstick on a pig una dey do instead of just saying it how it is. So of course, many will come with unrealistic expectations just as you have seen here and now vexing about. You know how many marriages are under stress right now cos bros don tire to dey do these 'jobs' and wifey isn't hearing it, and now looks at bros like he is lazy, and understandably so, cos bills have to be paid. You can't step in a river and complain of cold, when you already expect the cold. People largely have unrealistic expectations and most time you fellas even here feed it. Tell things how they are! Any small thing una go turn it to a We Vs They argument, or that the person is anti-japa! Smh

That said, like you said, many more idiots like this one will get access to a mic, notice how Nigeria is popping up on this kin news lately....and yea, this heifer is def getting her visa revoked for sure.

Also, if the experience of some others are anything to go by, of a truth there have been complaint of not many care shifts being able to go round lately. Even before this report, many people here on Nairaland have complained of the same thing, they came on HC work sponsorship (care visa) and they haven't gotten shifts at all or very few shifts, and they say their visas are for care work only, so they can't legally do any other kinda work

My brother, leave these people that always blame Nigerians. Do you know what it takes to leave your comfort zone, friends and family and Japa to another country?

Who be dey reason Japa and staying permanent in UK before?

Before Oct 14th 2014, one dollar was trading at 165$ (BM). APC came with the threat that if they didn't win, they would run an parallel govt and other useless threats that charged the atmosphere. Investors and businesses started buying dollars to hedge because of this and this drove the price from 165$ to 200$ (BM).

Evil APC on seeing this development started singing 1$ = 1NGN gibberish and some people actually believe this jingo.

They won the election and fast forward yesterday, I bought dollar for 920$. That's from 165$ to 920$ (82% depreciation of your currency in 8yrs).

How do we survive this?
one thing about those people is that they also tried to japa and failed hence the hate. If you check the old posts of some of them 🤣.

Driving past the Canadian embassy every morning on freedom way, you will ask yourself, all these people queuing each day to japa, what exactly are they going there for?

How can you just wake up and decide to run away from your own country, when most of them has good-paying jobs and businesses?

@Treadway i dont jknow about the travel section you are talking about but i know the uk SYSTEM SO WELL.

UK is is one of the best countries to live but if you are lazy, proud or picky with jobs just dont bother travelling anywhere.

I know people who started as cleaners but today they work in IT. Life is gradual.

UK does not care about your degree or qualifications in Nigeria. You must do some courses befor you can get certain jobs infact 95% of UK jobs are course oriented.

Ptience is the key. Nigeria is good only if you are a politician, yahoo boy, or you are extremely lucky to be blessed and pray that the Govt does not destroy your business with their ineptitude.

it is clear. Let me clear it up for you. When you get COS to come and do care work, your papers legally prohibit you from doing anything aside care work for the period/duration of that visa. Hope that much is clear. If they are now able to circumvent it illegally somehow, I no come know. Many people even here on Nairaland have complained about the same thing, about coming in and not getting shifts, and also still finding it hard to get another care work in their/certain locations since that is the only work they are limited to. Once you come in with a specific type of work-visa, you can never do any other type of work even IF they tried to, so your point is False.

If they come with a care visa, that is the job they are meant to do, NOT cleaning job.

There is nothing special about the UK, the citizens who live there themselves are complaining. Every other week there are train strikes in London, Nurses are also striking. The housing crisis has hit the roof & people are protesting, I witnessed one in January & they are planning for another.

A lot of Nurses are resigning and moving to better countries like Australia.

hmmmm..then that's bad. They should have gone via student route. That amount would go a long way for them. My fiance was preaching the care worker visa to me. I researched it and saw that it's not something i can do. Told her if she can do it, we can go there. I'll go as her dependant. I have a remote job that can atleast cover us( even if not fully) if she doesn't get shifts. Nigeria is getting too uncomfortable to live in. I just hope the Uk favors us.

Lastly, will the COS be revoked if you don't get shifts for a long time?

Any advise for me?

If your are skilled and such skill is on the occupation shortage list (not those care jobs stuff), then you are good to go. I am on the UK skilled worker visa, a clinical role in child and adolescent mental health services, though I was already qualified to get a job that would grant me UK skilled worker visa with my B.A degree but I wanted to do a Msc in a specialty when I was still in the mood, reason I came to do the UK through study route.

From my findings, the easiest way to get job through visit visa is through truck driving

I can't drive trucks, as a matter of fact I am still not good enough driving saloon cars.

I have no skill, carpentry, barbing etc.

I used to write codes, build functional websites but Mehnnn I abandoned that to venture in business because my bills needed to be paid.

For now what I do and good at is business, I have eyes for it, know how to market and get my clients

No. Your COS won't be revoked if you can't get shifts, as that is out of your control. The only option is to keep searching for another care agency that will absorb such a person as bills have to be paid. It may require moving to another location if such are hard to come by in the present location. This is what I have learnt from the true account of others here who are/have experiencing/experienced that. To your other question, to be honest Naija is some type of way right now truly, so I would refer you to the Living in UK thread for more views/advice on that. There is still quite a lot of sound and viable info being shared on that thread that can help you make a favourable decision. Since you do remote work, there likely will be regions/locations they can point out that the cost of living will be low, so your finances aren't strained and probably such locations won't have this problem with getting shifts. All the best.

Cheers!

What you don't understand is some don't really have asset in Nigeria. You're not in thier shoe. Business is collapsing, companies are laying off staff. Even if you find one person earning
big, you see alot of mouth depending on the person to feed and clothe. Someone earning 300k might be feeding a family of 4. Do the maths, averagely, his share isn't upto 100k. Such person is poor. But, works in a top organisation and drives a big car. Achievement sometimes is different from asset. You could own a house or a car and yet not making enough money to live comfortably and train your kids. You need to earn above 500k monthly to afford a good rent and train kids in this country. Abroad, if you work hard, you could offset your financial struggles, but in Nigeria, the harder you work, the poorer you become. While lazy ppl loot, steal and get richer.
You just spoke my mind. God bless you!

Bro there are thousand of jobs that will employ you but some of these Nigerians are annoyingly picky.

They come with that crazy mindset that they will get a "befitting" jobs.

There are many jobs with staff shortage in the UK that will gladly employ them but they came with the mentality that everything is set for them... They don't want to build from scratch and they are so so freaking impatient forgetting the fact that they are actually starting life all over in a strange country.

Shebbi she ought to have shut up and blend into the system but hell NO...AS IF IT IS LIKE A CURSE FOR ONE CRAZY NIGERIAN TO BLOCK WAYS FOR OTHERS... They must grant interview shaa ni like cursed human beings.
I'm not sure you understand the UK policy on sponsorship migration bro.
Any employer that employed someone who came through sponsorship is liable to pay heavy fine and most employer will not want to risk that.
The only alternative is to find a non registered work like hourly cleaning or janitorial services that will not arouse the regulators check .
Now imagine someone who was probably a banker in Nigeria and paid 10000 pounds to immigrate going to the UK and becoming a cleaner.
Do you wish your enemy that kind of life hence it's no surprise they won't do that kind of job you are proposing.

no ooo. It appears you are mixing it up. Not getting shifts but still employed, is very different from being laid off and not employed. It is those that lose their jobs ie lost the employment that have to look for another sponsor. If you still have the sponsorship and the employment, you ain't gonna have your visa revoked cos you ain't getting shifts, na hunger and possibly homelessness go just kee you...

Business is a risk taken, not only in Nigeria but everywhere.
They raised that money through whatever they have been doing successfully before, so I don't think we should still be talking about "washing down the drain" again.
