Tinubu as a person have not talked about it but the SW Governor’s have been asking FG since last administration.

If Nigerians are serious about it, we can join hands together and demand regionalism from tinubu. Tinubu I know can sure make it happen for us the way we want!
Tribalism is a raven that has eaten deep in this country.
SW governor's were clamouring for regionalism when their kinsmen were not in power. I will take them serious if the do same when Tinubu is the president which can never happen.
Though in my own opinion, regionalism is the best irrespective of the current 6 regions.

Obasanjo till tomorrow will be the best president we ever had since 1999. So when he is saying this. He knows exactly what he is saying.

Just like telecommunications in the hands of government when David Mark as Minister of telecommunications under Abacha said telephone is not for the poor. They won't make it work lailai until that sector is unbundled patapata.

He came at a period of dire economic problems with foreign sanctions here and there. His cabinet still the best. Not this one that Bulabalu went to bring the same set of people we've always known

His Telecommunications sector revolution was super.

The Banking sector was a total turnaround too .Mega super.

The Nigerian middle class grew under him. His first announcement in 100days was increasing the minimum wage to 3000naira.

A Bag of rice was sold for 1200 then or so. That meant with your minimum wage you could buy two bags of rice

Civil servants started buying cars and properties. People who before now, House agents will say House for rent,Not for civil servants

His only mistake was handing over to a Yaradua who was a socialist after he failed in his 3rd term bid which fortunately his party blocked.

Yaradua cancelled the sale of almost everything. Inclusive of power has obasanjo has set motion for the total unbundling of the power sector just like telecommunications.

The swines that took over especially the ones from 2015 are just beating about the bush.

Even if you want to talk about infrastructure sef,the Lagos Ibadan expressway sef,he was the one that constructed it as Military President

This is a big fat lie.. Governmemt owned refineries can work if those at the helm of affairs show genuine commitment.
The power sector is in a big mess now with private individuals running the discos, looking for every means possible to milk Nigerians to death.

GeneralPula:

Restructuring is a scam bro! Don’t fall for it! What exactly do we want to restructure? Do you remember Vision 2020 scam?

The best thing we can do is to go back to regionalism! To me, this is the best solution. We were using it before and it worked for us!

SW Governor’s have been calling for the regionalism but other part of the county are still quiet. We should go back to regionalism then things can change. Imagine we go back to regionalism and:

Fashola is to be western leader premier..
Donald duke to be southern leader premier..
Kwankwaso to be northern leader premier..
Dave Umahi to be eastern leader premier..

I believe this is the only significant thing we can do, any other thing aside from that is like fetching water inside basket..
You are contradicting yourself. You condemned Restructuring and at the same time advocating for Regionalism. If we go back to Regionalism , it called Restructuring ( political Restructuring) This is because Regionalism is not the current structure of Nigeria economy.

That's the problem, why we believe Obj was greedy, he should have ruled for 20yrs. Take a look at leaders who transform their countries, XI Jingpin, Lee Kwan Yung, Vladimir out putin, Paul kigame... This men spent decades on the sit to give consistent and stable policies necessary for economic growth without opposition vendetta.

Sadly Nigerians themselves clamoured against the sale then and were jubilant when it was reversed by Yar Adua.

And as with fuel subsidy, political opponents took advantage of the people's suspicions and cynicism.

Many times we are our own worst enemy.

Just as it's happening now most Nigerians are myopic and we don't think. We just follow the band wagons and sing to the new town rhythm. Same way they cried over Atiku selling off the nnpc. Even now some are praying for military take over, they believe it'll bring the hard rest, but the truth is any reset with military will take atleast 20yrs with period of hard suffering (this one go be play) in between...

OBASANJO is short-sighted and evil. Of all the four which one is he not involved and ever thriving? He is always there to use such excuses to militate against the people. Yet in 8years, he failed to build a bigger economic REFINERY. That was his his credit, and delivery to the people.

But in a series of heist, Obasanjo had to part with millions of our CBN dollars to Dangote, Otedola, Andy Uba, another Uba, Jimoh Ibrahim, et al to build 'refineries', do more evils, etc. To date we can see the evils of successive FGNs have been doing our people and their future having laid foundations for such evils to thrive.

I’m just concerned about that will it help matters?

Nepa was sold. Was there any significant change since then?

There are three power sectors In Nigeria.
Namely; Generation, transmission and distribution.
FG is still in charge of power generation and transmission.

It is only distribution sector that has been privitized.

If government could generate enough Megawatts, distribution sector we have more power to sell.

Though distribution sectors are also corrupt in one way or the other.

I am doing my industrial training in the port Harcourt refinery. There is a lot of work going on in here,so many new parts have been bought and fixed, day in,day out. They work morning till night.I just want to let you know the refinery is not still the same as before. So many companies are here working.I just hope the refinery start working by December

This man is Nigerias biggest problem, the country has given him and his family so much and all he does is find ways to control whomsoever is in power,he said he asked shel to run the refineries, is shell the only oil company in Nigeria? Are there no other investors that he could have liased with? Doesn't he know that with subsidy on ground that nobody would want to invest in the refineries ventures? Did he make any move to sanitize the nnpcl and their agencies then? Obasanjo is an evil man that always thinks that his way is the only way, shameful soul that could not make any of the refineries to be productive during his time while he was president and petroleum minister together, this man is a useless and egoistic man.

Anytime you hear the truth, which is different from the indoctrination that you have been fed, your body begins to shake.

Calm down.

How could you believe that Port Harcourt refinery would work in December? Did Buhari not say the refineries would work? In fact, do you know many times that Buhari said the plants would work?

Did you not remember Dr. Ibe Kachickwu's many vows and promises on those refineries? Are people so forgetful in this country?

Why are Nigerians so gullible? Why are they so easy to deceive. The same way they told you people that subsidy removal suffering would end in 1 month, then 2 months, then 3 months.

And instead of you facing the people lying to you squarely, you are offended that someone is telling you the bitter truth. Are you bewitched or something? Are you hypnotized?

Do you even realise that the same Obasanjo that you are castigating here built some of the refineries when he was head of state in the 70s?

sonofElElyon:

Government only needs to appoint professionals from the private sector to head the refineries and give them the freedom to hire and fire. Also give them the latitude to run the refineries freely without interference..

How many times will they do this?
Did you travel the last time?

Ibe Kachickwu was literally plucked from the private sector for the sole purpose of making the refineries work.

Did you forget the disaster? He was practically 'pushed out' of government at the end, leaving the refining capacity at 15% while promising to increase it to 30%.

Is it that we don't have any sense of history in this country, or people's memory is so shallow? It is not even up to 5 years.

Truth.

It was an open secret that all the refineries were sources of uncontrollable looting. It was an open secret that TAM was an avenue to reap the nation off. It was an open secret that the systematic destruction of the refineries involved persons in position of power and staff.

Nigeria needs a strong and determined leader for things to work. We need a leader with a very strong will to move the nation forward. Unfortunately corruption has gotten the better part of the leadership and the people support corrupt leaders to continue with their corrupt ways.

Comments like this is what has kept us like this 63 years after independence. People are still looking for a strong leader. Nigeria was built on a very faulty foundation. Ten strong leaders cannot fix Nigeria. Until we discuss our nationhood, every nation of the earth will leave us behind.

A non Ti person cannot be governor of Benue State
A Christian cannot be governor of Nasarawa State
A Muslim cannot be governor of Plateau state.
An minority tribe cannot be president of Nigeria.

These are the issues.
We haven't discussed our coexistence.

Until we do that, we will be here in 2050 lamenting over the same thing
