President Bola Tinubu’s administration has announced plans to spend N5.095 billion on a presidential yacht, despite outcries to cut the outrageous costs of running government.

According to the 2023 supplementary appropriation details of MDA spending seen by BusinessDay, the Nigerian Navy proposed a capital expenditure of N42.3 billion and a recurrent expenditure of N20.42 billion making a budget of around N62.8 billion.

Other items in the budget proposal from the Nigerian Navy include; the purchase of vehicles, construction of the naval base in Lekki and Epe, provision of critical equipment, and purchase of ammunition.

Many Nigerians say Tinubu’s administration lost a perfect opportunity to curb government excesses like the outrageous spending on exotic cars, selling off several planes in the presidential fleet, and pruning down wasteful government expenditures and inflated budgets that are not grounded in reality.

A broke and unproductive country is buying a presidential yacht and cars worth billions for the first woman and NASS?” Tunde Martins said on X .

The evil men in government. Nigeria is not a serious country, but I will never give up because of some agberos, touts, drug barons, strange men, certificate forgers and fraudulent men. God is the only last hope of the common people in Nigeria at the moment.

I remember all the clowns that fell for government propaganda that Subsidy was evil.

I am fully in support of yacht for all Governors and LG chairmen too. After all, deranged Nigerian masses believe that more money in government coffers would benefit them and not the thieving kleptocrats they call leaders .

Pls i am not in support of flamboyancy particular during this financial struggles the country is in. However, from the above news, the Nigerian Navy proposed the budget which if appropriate protocols were to be followed, would be scrutinized and eliminated from by the national assembly and the senate.

Nigeria had the choice of voting for Peter obi, but they went for a profligate waster and a crook.

You have sold the future of your children on the altar of bigotry and madness.
