Krismas:
;D I have quoted Isaiah 14:1 b4.
Here is it again
Isaiah 14:1 FOR THE Lord will have mercy on Jacob [the captive Jews in Babylon] and will again choose Israel and set them in their own land; and foreigners [who are proselytes] will join them and will cleave to the house of Jacob (Israel). [Esth. 8:17.]
PROSELYTES WILL CLEAVE TO THE HOUSE OF JACOB.
In essence, non Israelites who believe will become ONE with Israel. And anytime u talking about Israel, you also talking about such proselytes
.
Isaiah announced what would happened but let's take a look at what followed after the foreigners did try to cleave to the house of Jacob during the time of Ezra and Nehemiah in Nehemiah 10 and Ezra 9 around 480BC - 430 BC when the Jews began returning fully to the Nation of Judea. lipsrsealed

If you read through both chapters, you will find that not only were the Israelites commanded to separate themselves (divorce) from their foreign husband and wives, they were also to do so in obedience to God's Law which never changed at all. The Law forbade the Israelites from marrying foreigners and also forbade foreigners from entering the Lord's presence and gathering. undecided

Yes, the Israelites had children with foreigners who as a result of their birth were made part of the blood of Jacob. The Law of Moses, which never changed made no provisions for foreign partners to become a part of the family of Jacob nor for even their offspring to enter into God's Temple as a result of being born of obedience to God. So, see how your understanding of what is written conflicts with the Law and what really happened? undecided

@Krismas, Isaiah announced what would happen but Isaiah never said that what would happen would be sanctioned by God. undecided
1 After we finished all these things, the leaders of the Israelites came to me and said, “Ezra, the Israelites have not kept themselves separate from the other people living around us. And the priests and the Levites have not kept themselves separate. The Israelites are being influenced by evil things done by the Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and Amorites.
2 The Israelites have married the people living around us. The Israelites are supposed to be special, but now they are mixed with the other people living around them. The leaders and important officials of the Israelites have set a bad example in this thing.”
3 When I heard about this, I tore my robe and my coat to show I was upset. I pulled hair from my head and beard. I sat down, shocked and upset.
4 Then everyone who respected God’s Law shook with fear. They were afraid because the Israelites who came back from captivity were not faithful to God. I was shocked and upset. I sat there until the evening sacrifice, and the people gathered around me. - Ezra 9 vs 1 - 4
As a result of the above, the many Israelites who cleaved had to divorce themselves from both their foreign spouses and the children of such unions. undecided
2 Then Shecaniah son of Jehiel, one of the descendants of Elam, spoke to Ezra and said, “We have not been faithful to our God. We have married the people living around us. But, even though we have done this, there is still hope for Israel.
3 Now let us make an agreement before our God to send away all these women and their children. We will do that to follow the advice of Ezra and the people who respect the laws of our God. We will obey God’s law.
4 Get up, Ezra. This is your responsibility, but we will support you. So be brave and do it.”
....
10 Then Ezra the priest stood and said to them, “You people have not been faithful to God. You have married foreign women. You have made Israel more guilty by doing that.
11 Now you must confess your sins to the Lord, the God of your ancestors. You must obey his command. Separate yourselves from the people living around you and from your foreign wives.”
12 Then the whole group who met together answered Ezra. They shouted, “Ezra, you are right! We must do what you say.
13 But there are many people here. And it is the rainy time of year, so we cannot stay outside. This problem cannot be solved in a day or two because we have sinned in a very bad way.
14 Let our leaders decide for the whole group meeting here. Then let every man in our towns who married a foreign woman come here to Jerusalem at a planned time. Let them come here with the elders and judges of their towns. Then God will stop being angry with us.” - Ezra 10 vs 2 - 14

Dey play!
If the Law of Moses forbade Israel from marrying foreigners, then how come Moses himself married an Ethiopian? grin

Numbers 12:1 NOW MIRIAM and Aaron talked against Moses [their brother] because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite woman.

You don’t know anything!

Isaiah 14:1 wasn’t particularly talking about marriage, CLEAVE in the verse mean BECOME ONE AMONG JACOB.
Then, the reason why Ezra instructed separation of mixed marriages is in the texts you quoted. But since you were too eager to point at the separation, you entirely missed the cause. And having missed the cause, u fabricated a fake cause for it to suit your narrative.
So, read your own quotes one more
Maybe you may spot this part in it

THEY WERE INFLUENCED INTO DOING EVIL BY THOSE UNIONS. That’s why the separation was ordered.

Did Moses enter the land of Canaan? Were Moses' sons counted among the Levites when God carried out the first census - Numbers chapter 1 - 4? undecided

What makes you think it is enough to quote random details out-of-context without in fact knowing the full story? undecided

In the same book of Numbers you quoted from, Moses's own family is completely excluded from the census of Levites in Israel- Moses was a Levite. He had sent his wife and kids away all so He could remain faithful to God. Your gods of men don't teach you these because they know it goes against the many Fables they tell you, particularly the ones about how God loves marriage, abi? undecided

1. But what you describe is contained nowhere in the Law of Moses. Foreigners could live in the land but there is no such thing as becoming one among Jacob unless through marriage and that is frowned upon by the Law. undecided

2. The following is found in the very Law of Moses. The command is that they do not intermarry with the foreigners.
1. “The Lord your God will lead you into the land that you are entering to take for your own. He will force out many nations for you—the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites—seven nations greater and more powerful than you.
2 The Lord your God will put these nations under your power. And you will defeat them. You must destroy them completely. Don’t make an agreement with them or show them mercy.
3 Don’t marry any of them, and don’t let your sons or daughters marry any of the people from those other nations.
4 If you do, they will turn your children away from following me. Then your children will serve other gods, and the Lord will be very angry with you. He will quickly destroy you! - Deuteronomy 7 vs 1 - 4
Nowhere in all of that is it stated that they are only to avoid intermarrying with foreigners only if the foreigners turned them against God. undecided

grin You completely off the mark. Moses family excluded from Levite BECOS he married an Ethiopian? Is dat? Rubbish! Aaron was Moses younger brother and he was the chief priest. Moses was like the president of Israel or PM. How can one family have it all? Moses tried had to manage all of dat. Dats all.
U can’t run away from the fact dat Moses married an Ethiopian and YHWH supported him by putting leprosy on the woman who challenged him for that.

What you just said makes no sense of any kind. By the way, Aaron is Moses's older brother.

The census of the Levites has nothing to do with the office occupied by the members of the families counted in the census. It was a general census much like the one that was supposed to have been conducted in Nigeria only some months ago. Even the president's own family would have had to be counted as well. undecided

2. I am afraid not much is said of the woman so there isn't much that can be inferred from the story given Moses may have married her before God gave the Israelites the law against foreign marriages. So, if you are under some sort of delusion that because Moses is written to have married a Cushite woman God's Law against the israelites in the Land of Canaan marrying foreigners is rendered null, and void, then you are on your own there. undecided

The Law of Moses is documented throughout the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, and those Laws were handed down to the people over time, and not all at once, to prepare them for the eventual entry into the Land of Canaan where the Law was meant to serve at the National Constitution of the Nation of Israel. So, it is again erroneous to assume that having half the story means you have God figured out. undecided

grin Levite is not just a tribe but also the order of priesthood and altar attendants. Moses and Aaron have the same father and mother. Moses was the de-facto leader of Israel and his brother was the primary priest, which was hereditary. It seem too much. Moses endured 3Seperate rebellions from those who tot he was sitting over the nation.
So he is not a Levite. He never needed the privilege.
Then it is irrelevant whether or not Moses married b4 ur fake law. Afterall he was expected to divorce her once he came into the law like Ezra right?

grin U don’t know wot law is! Every law carries a punishment once violated. If those were a law on marriage, why den did David violate them by marrying Maakah daughter of Talmal king of Geshur? And was still the man after YHWH’s heart? Why did Solomon marry wives from all the tribes around? Why do Israelytes freely marry from around them breaking the law without consequences?

Ruth 1:4 And they took wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other Ruth. They dwelt there about ten years;

Ruth is a Moabite and the grandparent of king David.

I don't know what the Law is yet the passage you quoted in Isaiah 14 speaks of what was to happen to the people for their continued disobedience of the Law for a period of what seemed 70 jubilees, and what Ezra during the period after the end of the exile was try to correct the people so they go back to living according to the Law as opposed to how they were before? undecided

So because Ruth was a Moabite and supposedly grandfathered David, it then becomes OK to flaunt God's law to the people of Israel. Because Solomon married from all tribes in disobedience to God and God didn't immediately strike him down during his life, it becomes OK for all to break God's Law. WOW... indeed... your regard for the Law of God is amazing! undecided
