As I said, the real owners of Lagos has sent Oba with a warning. Arguing on Nairaland won't change the result.

You're still ignorant, you just admitted cultures differs yet you compare the Romans with the British. Go back to your comment that I responded to, you were seemingly asking why Yorubas ended up speaking English but you failed to state as opposed to what exactly?
You just jumped into a conversation you didn't know the context.
Go back and read the context

Aworis

Benin later came to impose themselves on the Aworis and forced them to pay royalties.

Those Royalty payment were stopped by the British. Therefore, making Oba of Lagos a ceremonial king because they don't actually have land in Lagos.

They simply established themselves as traditional governors over Aworis with the help of Bini Empire.
Bini don't have land in Lagos. Are you sure? You mean the Kosokos, Dosunmu and all the ruling house don't have land in Lagos? Are you sure of what you're saying? Are you now saying all the land in Lagos are owned by Awori
Besides, according to your story, Bini fought and conquered Awori owners. But there's no historical record to back it up.

Awori has been there since 1300, the Bini came there in 1640

Again this documented.

So two hundred years apart.

I hope you understand what two hundred years mean.

Well it also said they came from Ife and the lady is disputing the time factor/lapse and logic of ur narrative.

Lmao! You guys are pained… It is our land! All representatives are Yorubas, governors, commissioners, official language and streets are in Yoruba language. The Bini with their useless Oba can only roar from far otherwise we ll take over the Bini and turn it to a local government under Ondo state. Why they not in Benin language? These are not neccessary, no one is saying its not yoruba land. It seems non lagosian just want to twist history with the help of some awori because they claim to come from ife. The place was a trade route for the benin b4 the awori chose to settle down there. Its quite obvious that ijebu border distancing isale eko from Benin territory did not make them settle down there.

Moba Yorubas and Ijebus were the Original Aborigines of Lagos
Moba Yorubas are now part of the Awori

They were in Lagos before Oduduwa was born
Infact the deity the Idol Worshippers deified as Olokun was actually a Moba King called Seniade that ruled from an Island off the Coast of Lagos that has now been Submerged by the Atlantic Ocean

That was why the Moba migrated to Moba near Victoria Island

That was where the first Owa Obokun of Ijesha fetched the water from the Moba Sea that was used to cure Oduduwa's blindness

Yoruba Historians call the place Okun Moba
The first Oba of Ijesha spent 2 months with the Moba People there before returning to Oduduwa in Ile Ife with the Sea Water

Start at the Moba Palace in Lagos and the Oore of Otun Ekiti Palace he is a descendant of the Moba Kings including Seniade

For the record bini languajar was considered
sacred and was never spoken or taught to an outsiders. before the coming of this controversial king, the OGISO'S has ruled the land with the red soil long before the dawn of time.

Enugurangers:

The truth is the Yoruba >>>>>>Benin..
Yorubas expanded all the way from Ife to all over west Africa. Benin instead shrunk and never expanded. Benin language is only spoken in Benin, they worship Yoruba gods too. Their royal line was started by a Yoruba man. They met Aworis all over Lagos. The tiny region they occupied for a while in Lagos is an extremely tiny faction that they also could not hold for long. Ashipa is a Yoruba man.

No amount of revisionist will alter the truth.

All these tales of short lived Benin empire era in Lagos leads nowhere. The Oba of Lagos controls no land outside the Island. Ikoyi is for the Onikoyi, Victoria Island outside the federal territory is for the Oniru etc

Some families in Eko trace their origin to Benin. The Bajulaiyes for instance may be related to the Bazuayes of Benin. However, they're mostly fully assimilated now so what's the point of the argument?

The larger part of Lagos belongs to the old Western Region.

I personally see Binis and Yorubas as one and same people.

The current generation likes to argue and fight over everything and the elders are not intervening to educate and guide.

There was a lot of interaction and connection between Binis and Yorubas before the advent of the Europeans and this is not limited to Lagos alone.

Ancient Lagos is not the entire Lagos State. The modern Lagos is an amalgam of towns with their own different histories and traditional institutions.
Also, the particular part of Lagos with "Bini History" is very well known. Ask the elders.

There should be no controversy
We are not one and we will never be the same. Most of Edo landlords and landladies here in abuja don't rent there apartment to a Yoruba person. I have witnessed alot of hate from them. They will just hate you once they know that you are a Yoruba. Lagos is yoruba land and we dont want to have anything to do with Benin. I wish everybody can go there way self. Multiethnicity is not working in Nigeria

Which Awori ?

Awori that Owns Lagos and the Land on Which the Obas Palace Sits

Isale Eko on Lagos Island is not 2% of Awori kingdom

It was Awori that gave Benin a Trading Post on part of Lagos Island

And at the time it Happened the Awori people were under the Protection of Oyo during the Time of Basorun Yamba of Oyo who warned them that if the tried Nonsense on Lagos Island He and the Awori wouldn't hesitate to kick them Out

Oba Of Lagos was a Babaloja of the Lagos Slave Market
The taxes he collect were not Tribute but taxes to trade in the Slave Market
Does collection of the Motor Park taxes make one a vassal to the Car park Agberos?
