It's simple, if you can't relocate then please tender your resignation.

can you say this was a strategic move? Because I remember asking why the capital was moved from Lagos to Abuja back then, I was because it's not safe for any country to have its capital in a state that has boundary with an ocean.

That's a good question!

Yes, it was strategic, rather than needful. It was the Northern oligarchs and power brokers consolidating their power over Nigeria. And by that single move they achieved it, and that's why today we talk about Northern power brokers.

The talk of "Lagos being a costal city and a threat in case of invasion" is a dumb excuse. Most countries around the world actually have their capital cities located near the coast.

I hope they relocate all IOC head offices to the SS/SE then 🙄
After all Oil deposits are in the SS while Gas deposits in Imo are in the SE since relocation of offices is our main focus now

All agriculture ministries and agencies should be relocated to the NC and NE

Let's all be crazy and stupid in government then since we have nothing better to do than relocation

What they did is the right call.
They curved pure wastage.

You know that department banking supervision have folks who travel virtually every time....you would be shocked that department expenses on transport, feeding, accommodation and all other allowances exceed 1billion annually.

Leave them to keep deceiving themselves till Nigeria gets to a point of no return. Within 6 months of this administration Nigeria has witnessed the worst of everything especially insecurity but the focus has remained on unimportant things like relocation.

CBN has 36 major offices all of which can accommodate a large number of staff besides other operational buildings and staffing quarters. They control AMCON and other related entities with large half empty buildings in Abuja too.

In the federal civil service you don’t make money by salary, you make money from allowances on travel, estacode, outside posting etc. The federal government moved federal operations from Lagos to abuja decades ago primarily due to congestion

All the banks also have major regional offices in Abuja, Infact Jaiz bank has its head office in Abuja, keystone as phb had its head office in kaduna, so the movement has nothing to do with proximity but to reduce their power and allowances. You can audit any major Nigerian bank from Zamfara, Sokoto or Oyo, it doesn’t matter, once you have a branch connected to their server. Banking supervision is the most powerful unit in the CBN because they control all the banks. Their Director is also the most powerful after the CBN head. That’s why you still hear voices like Moghalu in the public space as loud as Soludo or Sanusi.. You move them out, you move their Director out too, you cut their income down, you clip their wings and keep them away from Abuja where all the political power is. I didn’t want to have to do a long explanation cos I was expecting a lot of people know these already but apparently not

So you are saying it is a power play move to clip the wings of the banking supervision department . If that is the case then that is their internal problem/politics ! In a nutshell , they can do whatever they like to themselves internally . After all the ex governor was a major player in ruining our economy and NONE of the directors did anything to stop him .

Thanks for explaining the dynamics though .

Please Read and understand before you comment please.., as it stands today Mr Tinubu is our President and we should pray that he succeds because, What ever happens affect an Average Nigerian.
I laugh when citizens pray for their leaders to fail.
We should talk about our President with dignity please.

Why was their new Lagos head office built in the First instance? Sanusi Lamido even fitted it with an helipad. The building is wasting away till date. I still have pictures of their empty offices with me as I speak.

They are better off situated in Lagos than Abuja because almost all Banks are headquartered in Lagos.

One key function of CBN is Banking services supervision. You can't do that effectively when your H/O is in Abuja.

These CBN guys travel down to Lagos almost everyday and then raise crazy expense claims on Travel, flight, hotel Accomodation, local estacodes to the tune of several millions.

These leakages should be plugged.

These 3 agencies absolutely have no business in Abuja.

1. CBN
2. NNPC
3. FAAN (Aviation)

This is the best decision to curb the nonsense going on at the apex Bank.
Its funny some Nigerians are short sighted and don't understand how important it is to move some departments from the current location.

This should have been done since 2012.
Its the only way to break corruption at the CBN. Kudos to this government
Indeed.. Very good decision

By the same logic the Nigerian Ports Authority should relocate to Lagos. There is no single port in Abuja. Also, whoever regulates the Insurance sector should relocate. Most importantly Departments of the NNPC should relocate as well. No oil company has HQ in the FCT

Just like obj relocated NPA head office to Lagos,. I no know whether them done carry am go Abuja again. If Lagos is where the job is, why not stay there to work?

More than 60 percent of the economy of Nigeria is based in Lagos yet they would like to run Lagos from Abuja. Isn't that self harm?

Them talk say the building fit collapse because of overcrowding, them dey kick. Shay them think say God go protect them if them dey use strong head ni?

Lagos is the financial, economic, commercial and mercantile nerve center of Nigeria. It is the only location fit to host CBN, not even Abuja. Abuja does not move economy of Nigeria, so why is CBN located there?

Abuja is the capital of Nigeria, there are banks like unity bank, signature bank premium trust bank , jaiz bank that has their bank head offices in Abuja .

All banks should have moved their Audit units to Abuja for better supervision.
Lagos is no longer the capital of Nigeria and after 2023 election has moved from being the commercial capital of Nigeria to the commercial capital of Yorubas.

Are people expecting igbos or Hausas opening new banks to site the headquarters or head offices in Lagos because of cbn this is nothing more than a gambit to have all banks head offices situated in Abuja to move them to Lagos
