To be honest even outside the country the hustle continues but the difference is you see the results of your hardwork. You can plan stuff, work towards them and actually see the results manifesting but it's a whole different scenario in Nigeria. People who are still getting married and giving birth to Nigerian born children are some of the bravest human beings on earth.
The cost of living is not even my problem. The insecurity is my major problem. A 21 years old boy in my area was kidnapped on his way from Lagos, they are demanding for #20m. This family cannot even feed very well. Where will they get even #1m from.

A lot of crime that goes on in Nigeria isnt reported. People are kidnapped, ransom is paid and absolutely no one hears of it.

people do not die of accidents and crime in developed society? even in the UK do you know how many fatal stabbings happen a day ? do you know many people die from mass shootings in the USA every year ? who told you people do not die of heart attack in western world? yes people trek alot in naija calling it sufferin but that is the cardio that most people living in the western world are denied off because of driving to every point and then heart attack happens because the body lacks constant exercise and before you mention gym availability in western countries how many people find time to use that gym membership? who told you there are no car jackings - needless murders and abductions in the USA ? Have you seen the list of missing kids and missing person in the USA for the past 1 year ? you will be checked to your marrows - google is your friend

LOL. Dey deceive yourself.

I lived in Nigeria and abroad for decades and I can educate you. I have not locked my doors for years now, my kids ride bikes and take buses without fear.

I can drive 8 days on the road every day and night without a fear of kidnap.

My son was behaving funny in the farmers market, and I called 911, within 5 minutes, the ambulance and fire service were attending to us and gave us a ride to the "children's hospital", did I say children's hospital? Can you even point me to a children's hospital in Nigeria?

A broken country where the presidents have to go for medical tourism in other countries, shame nor dey catch una.
Have you ever heard of the Indian prime minister or South African president going for medical treatment abroad?

Till today, no herdsman has been prosecuted in Nigeria, Ondo church massacre and nobody has been arrested to date. Kidnappers were recently paid 100million for the alhaji in Abuja. Terrorists are forgiven.

My dog has more rest of mind and enjoyment than a millionaire in Nigeria.

Continue in your delusion of grandeur my friend while I wait for $1 to become N3000.

Words can't express how I weep for this country; my future lies in the hands of this nation.
As a young lady striving for success, it seems to be getting harder each day. Things are becoming more expensive, with an increase in the dollar exchange rate.
Life now is about surviving, not living. cry
If you have an opportunity to immigrate from Nigeria, I recommend you do.
A friend called me and told me its not easy leaving Nigeria; I asked her is it easy living in Nigeria? Today she is about 80% gone with migrating to another country. Either way, whether you leave Nigeria or you live in Nigeria, its not easy. So decide which of the NOT easy you want.
But we can all agree that in 5 years, the outcome of either of the NOT easy will be different.

so all the caravans of people risking their LIVES and LIMBS crossing mamba snakes infested forest- getting drowned in the RIO GRAND trying to reach the USA by fire by force are not from SOUTH AMERICA or CHILE? you make me laff - IF Chile is visa free today to the USA - 90% of Chileans will escape their socialist hell hole on earth call Chile for the USA - stop talking what you do not know -IF AMERICA IS AN EVIL FOREST - why are desperate CHILE citizens and even South Americans risking everything to get the EVIL FOREST CALLED AMERICA? u smoke sh iii ttt? grin
Most of the illegals from South America that crossed the US Southern border are either living in overcrowded shelters or sleeping in tents on the streets in minus zero weather in NY and Chicago. One was interviewed and said if he knew America was like this he would have stayed back in Venezuela, so this idea of Western streets paved with gold is a worldwide phenomenon among third world countries.

When I hear strange story of people abroad advising other people not to come and they stay there without travelling back I knew that human wickedness to human is real. I once told one friend of mine that instead of advising me not to come abroad make himself come back to naija. Nobody said abroad is paradise but its worth it over a billion times compared to staying put in naija when u are not a politician seeing free money. My only regret is that I should have come a long time ago until recently. Now I can work, plan myself , no fear of kidnapping or police brutality. I never even see gun here. I never see any military self but crime rate is minimal. Make una still dey pray to God to save Nigeria as if na God cause am. When people vote in bad leaders they will now be expecting miracle that God can use him to change the country. Nigerians will plant mango and be praying to God to turn it to apple.

They might be telling u the gospel truth.. Especially those that came through study route.

My brother you won't understand until you land.

But if you can come through skill visa where a company employed you here from Nigeria then it's fine.

Like u come to a country where to rent house is a problem once u don't have a job. Imagine spending 2000 pounds on Airbnb before securing a house.

It takes years to stabilise through study rout... Like I spent 30m through this means. I am hanging n my visa is almost expiring. I have not yet achieved my aim not to talk of recouping my expenses.

Lastly those that did travel immediately after the covid 19 lots had success stories.

Don’t envy them. Nigeria will be better soon.

We can take advantage of weak naira by starting to export Nigerian products. Government should make airports and seaport export ready!!!

The jobs abroad aren’t as many and even if you get the jobs, there are many deductibles before you enjoy your take home pay.

Also, if you want to Japa and take full benefits of abroad, learn technical skills like welding, plumbing, electrician, nursing, coding, mechanics, machinists, etc.
We look down upon these jobs in Nigeria but they are money making crafts abroad.

If you Japa with just a degree in business admin or any foolish course, you will either wash toilet or look after old people abroad.

Very good advice.

True,I always feel bad that my visa application was rejected twice last year.
To travel out as a Nigerian is difficult nd will get worse in the next couple of years
The situation of the country is very disheartening, cox the future of a young guy like me keeps getting bleak due to the decisions of our old fools.Making it legitly is now hard cox every decisions our leaders take always turns out for the worse
3 days ago I was almost kidnapped by police men for having a credit alert of a particular amount if MONEY a relative in US sent to me for business
I bailed myself with 30k.
It's well

Quite a sour experience! So sorry for that. Always delete your credit alerts whenever you receive an alert.

Yeah, abroad is sweet. You see smiling people not frowning and angry people all the time. Your peace and security is important. Abroad also has a lot of plenty opportunities. However, for new comers, it is not paradise or even near one. For the first few months, you may not get job or reasonable one. Like this poster said, taxes on everything even the Burger you want to come and eat is taxed. Another myth is that once you are here, you will immediately become fresh, people here have different skin types from fresh ones to regular Nigerian skin regardless of how many years you have been here. How you take care of your skin is what matters.
I will do everything necessary to leave

Despite all these : rising exchange rate, rising insecurity, inflation, poor power supply and kidnappings here and there if Tinubu contests in 2027 he would win with a landslide because Nigerians are naturally daft. They love servitude when they should be the ones controlling the ruling class via votes.

The day they took the light out for 3 mins here to do some maintenance. They brought doughnuts, ice cream and burgers to apologize grin grin. I remember when internet went out for just 5 mins, the next day the internet company was here to double check everything. The funny thing is the light bills and internet bills here are even lesser than in Nigeria. It's really terrible and to be honest the current Nigeria you are experiencing is paradise compared to the Nigeria in the next few years.

another hopeless comment meant to create hopelessness in people....let your words edify. How is internet and light cheaper? Cheapest Electricity is $250 - $300 during winter time...that's close to N400,000 a month and internet can be as much as $80 which is about N120,000 for a month of use. You japa to UK...yes you will work but those care jobs are no different from bricklayers or laborers in Nigeria...you feel them in your body true and true...even security jobs. Ask those with the experiences...ask about people that got sick and relocated at mid age, ask about our people in mental institutions, ask about our people with strokes abroad...yet we come online and sell paradise that is not real for average Nigerian abroad.

i have to tell you though being a security guard in the UK, night duty , in this internet age will be very sweeeetttttttt. I will just be on nairaland for the 12 hour shift or be watching YouTube videos. Imagine those who did security pre internet ? You will just be staring at white walls for 12 hours straight. This why most of our uncles are in mental institutions in the UK. All they can see now are white walls lmaooooooo

Don't migrate because your mother might die and you can't return to bury her. Abroad you must borrow for every significant purchase, you will NEVER pay off your house mortgage. UK is nowhere as good as it used to be, every Nigerian in UK is suffering.

Don't move to USA because you'll never be able to save ₦10million and of course my fav...will you take your whole family...they will remain and suffer with everyone else in Nigeria.

grin grin grin

The kinds of things I'm hearing from Nigeria these days. Imagine you can't get your cash from a bank without paying a bribe to bank staff. Ordinary ₦100K !!! Middle class people abandoning their cars just like it happened back in 1984.

Let the Anti-Jakpa Crew remain there dishing out advice on countries they've never visited.

People living in Nigeria should brace up for tough times lie ahead. Crude oil price will progressively fall in coming years and that’s a chaotic issue for Nigeria, as earnings would drop further and the country won’t have enough to service debts, pay for importation of goods and even run the government. That will further put pressure on Naira, making it to deep further. May God help us all.

That might even be good, in fact better for Nigerians. It is not as if Nigerians are benefiting from the high price of crude, directly or indirectly. At least, a fall in price in international market will mean cheaper price in Nigeria too.
Nigeria is not a country where drop in revenue for the Govt will be felt by the citizens, that's for countries where citizens benefit from the Govts interventions, projects and welfare packages.

What means are you using to Japa?
Education? Think twice... And have all necessary funds 100% plus living expenses 1 year upfront....this cost you 45m if UK and might be more for Australia, USA, Canada.

But for skilled like a company or hospital employed you then do your visa stuff then travel and start earning.... Better.
Please and please even that guy u quoted will be the one to call u names once u failed.

Crazy how a lot of Nigerians especially on NL think people don't die violently in the US, or don't die from stroke, heart attack etc. Cancer deaths in the US is 600k a year and another 600k from heart disease, 400,000 missing children every year in the US.
