PoliticsSouthern, Middle Belt Leaders Speak On Plan To Reinstate Sacked DSS DG, Daura by 7Ebisco(op): 8:45am On Sep 03, 2018
Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders’ Forum has warned against a plot by some Presidency officials allegedly led by Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, to remove Acting Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Matthew Seyeifa from office.

The forum spoke on Sunday in a statement co-signed by its spokespersons, Yinka Odumakin (South-West), Senator Bassey Henshaw (South-South), Prof. Chigozie Ogbu (South-East) and Dr Isuwa Dogo (Middle Belt).

The group stated that it would have ignored the reported plan to remove Seyeifa “but for the clannishness, sectional proclivity and exclusive handling of the security architecture of the country by President Buhari in the last three years.”

According to them, Buhari’s refusal to speak on the removal of the DSS DG since he returned from London confirms the speculation that he was not happy with Daura’s removal.

The statement read in part, “He (Buhari) had defied all protestations from all well-meaning Nigerians in making appointments into all key and sensitive security positions in sectional and kith-and-kin affairs in a very insensitive and ‘you-can-do-your-worse-manner’ that until the recent sacking of Lawal Daura, 16 out of 17 service chiefs were from his corner of the country.

“The President had not commented on the sack of the former DG of DSS since he returned from his London vacation confirms the speculation that he was not happy with Daura’s removal.

“The President should prevail on Kyari and stop him from removing Seyeifa as there would be consequences if the South-West and South-South regions were marginalised in the DSS leadership hierarchy.

“The rest of the country has lived with the insensitivity of Mr President in handling the security architecture in the last three years with equanimity.

“It may be necessary not to overstretch it by removing the acting DG and stopping the professional reorganisation in the DSS because it is not in tandem with the ethnic domination script of Mr President. It may turn out the proverbial last straw.”

PoliticsWhy Nigeria Can’t Survive Another Four Years Under Buhari – PDP by 7Ebisco(op): 7:26pm On Sep 02, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has revealed why Nigeria can’t survive another four years under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.

PDP said Buhari “squandered” Nigeria’s opportunity to benefit from German Chancellor, Angela Merkel during her visit to the country.

A statement by PDP’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan said Buhari could not articulate strong response to the economic proposals by Merkel.

PDP lamented that in, “Another exhibition of incompetence, President Buhari could not articulate any strong response to the economic proposals brought by the German leader, thereby squandering our nations opportunity of benefiting from her visit.

The statement reads partly: “It has, therefore, become clearer that there is no way our nation can survive another four years under a leadership such as the Buhari-led APC administration.

“The determination by Nigerians to rally on the platform of the repositioned PDP to throw up a competent President to effectively pilot the affairs of our nation, come 2019.”

CelebritiesI Never Planned To Leave The US To Act In Nigeria – Dorcas Shola-fapson by 7Ebisco(op): 10:59am On Sep 02, 2018
Dorcas Shola-Fapson speaks on her career, relocation and relationship.

Background

I was born in North London, England, in the 90s. I was raised there mainly by my father, as my mother passed away when I was 14 years old. After my degree at the University of Bedfordshire, I decided to pursue my passion which was acting and that led to me being given a full scholarship at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York.

Career

I love my job as an actress, so it’s fun. I get loads of perks like getting lots of free stuff, loads of paid sponsorships from clothes to hair to food. It’s great, really.

A major challenge for me, as an actress, is the viewers being unable to differentiate between myself and whatever character I play. They tend to think I’m like that in real life; I guess it’s a compliment as it means I’m doing my job well.

Relocation

I always say I fell into Nigeria and it must have been all part of God’s plan because I had no plans of moving to Nigeria or even working here.

I had moved to New York from London, where I lived and still shuttle between, to pursue acting, and my agent at the time in London told me about an audition for a new television series. It was for an international audition; so, I did a self-tape to show my talent. A few days later, I got a call from the director, Biyi Bandele, who told me that he loved my audition and they wanted to fly me out to Nigeria to film. The series is called Shuga and the rest is history.

Experience

To be honest, I’ve had a great time being here. It’s amazing to have met and worked with a bunch of incredible people and I have to say I have an amazing fan base in Nigeria. But of course, I have to say that a few things have made me have bad experiences in Nigeria as well. There’s the issue of security, light, health. I mean, it’s a rather long list but let’s stay with these.

Parent’s reaction

When I told my dad I was moving to Nigeria to get into the movie industry, he wasn’t happy at all, but I’m a risk-taker and he knows that. So he had to come to terms with it and now, interestingly, he’s my biggest cheerleader.

Mother

Honestly, I don’t really like to talk about my mum as it is a real soft spot for me. However, I’ll say she was an amazing woman. She had several businesses and built a school before she passed on, which I now run. Funnily enough, I really don’t know what her reaction would have been if I’d told her that I wanted to become a full-time actress. Thinking about it, I really have no clue. Though it’s unfortunate she didn’t get to see me perform, I’m sure she’s very proud.

Roles

I can’t really say I’ve had any challenging movie role because, funnily enough, I’ve only been in two movies and Banana Island Ghost was my first. I wouldn’t say it was challenging, but it was out of my comfort zone which I loved. I have BB Sasore to thank for that. Talking about my breakthrough role, again, I’d have to say it was Banana Island Ghost which came out this year. It was produced by Bamnesia Productions, which is a joint collaboration with the amazing Biola Alabi Media and Nemsia Productions – such a fun production team to work with.

AMVCA

For the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2018, I was nominated for my role in Banana Island Ghost. Even though I played a small role in the production, which was directed by BB Sasore and produced by Biola Alabi, it was mighty enough to earn me a nomination, which I’m extremely happy about.

Acting/Criminology

I was born and raised in an area in north London called Tottenham. I did all my compulsory education and then decided to go to the university to study criminology because I wanted to represent the minority as a black criminal lawyer. I also wanted to be a face of positive change. You could ask why I chose acting over criminology for now but I’ll just have to say that the passion drove me to be an actress. I love my job as an actress. Though I’m currently acting, I definitely, in the long run, would like to have a rehabilitation centre or organisation for young offenders from inner city neighbourhoods, to help them channel their crafts in the right way via arts or sports.

Relationship

It depends on who’s asking if I’m single. Don’t mind me, I’m only joking. I’m single at the moment. The kind of man I’ll call ideal is someone who is God-fearing, ambitious, confident, funny and smart. This is a seller any day.

PoliticsI Didn’t Appoint Gov Candidate For Rivers —amaechi by 7Ebisco(op): 7:54am On Sep 02, 2018
Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi said on Saturday that he did not appoint anyone as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

In a statement personally signed by the minister, he denied media report that he had appointed a governorship candidate for his party in the state, noting that the said report was false.

The statement read: “On official national assignment in China, the attention of the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, has been drawn to several wild, misleading, misguided and deliberately distorted stories and claims linking the minister who is the Leader of the APC in Rivers State and the South-South region, to a purported ‘appointment’ of a governorship candidate for the APC in Rivers State for the 2019 gubernatorial election. To clarify this fallacy, the minister restates that: “As an individual, a registered voter and a card-carrying APC member from Rivers State, it’s the Honourable Minister’s inalienable, constitutionally enshrined democratic right to back/support/promote any qualified fellow party member of his choice, to aspire to be the candidate of the party in the state in the forthcoming governorship election or any other election.

EFCC raids two companies in Adamawa for money laundering offences

“However, as a true and thorough democrat, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, a foundation member of the APC and a leading light of the party, recognises that the party candidates for the 2019 general elections will be chosen/elected by party members through the prescribed democratic process in the party’s constitution, rules and regulations.

“It is, therefore, preposterous, mischievous; wholly and intentionally disingenuous and deceitful for anyone to claim, allege or even insinuate that the Honourable Minister has “appointed” a governorship candidate for APC in Rivers State.”

SportsCity Must Take Advantage Of United Downturn – Kompany by 7Ebisco(op): 7:23am On Sep 01, 2018
The defender wants his side to capitalise on their rivals' slow start to the 2018-19 campagin

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany said the Premier League champions must keep kicking neighbours Manchester United while they are down as the Red Devils continue to struggle following Alex Ferguson's retirement.

United have not won the Premier League since 2012-13 – Ferguson's final season at Old Trafford – with City enjoying a change in momentum and dominance in Manchester.

Pep Guardiola's record-breaking City finished 19 points clear of United last season, while Jose Mourinho's side have lost two of their opening three matches this season.

Kompany feels some sympathy for United, though he wants City to take advantage in the quest for more silverware.

"I'll give the neighbours a little bit, I'll have compassion for them, because Sir Alex Ferguson was such a big personality," Belgian defender Kompany said.

"You cannot take somebody like that out of a club and think that everything is going to continue like before. You always need a transition period.

"Manchester United are still dealing with a post-Ferguson era. So they will get that side of me, feeling compassionate. But any time it takes them to get back up, we need to take advantage of it."

City welcome Newcastle United to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, while United are away to Burnley on Sunday as they seek to avoid three consecutive defeats.

Politics10 Things President Buhari Said At APC NEC Meeting by 7Ebisco(op): 9:06am On Aug 31, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, APC national chairman Adams Oshiomole, the party's national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, governors and other stakeholders on Thursday attended the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, where critical decisions were reached.

Here are ten things Buhari said in his remarks:

1. I welcome everyone gathered here today for the first meeting of the newly-elected National Executive Committee of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), after the National Convention held in June, 2018.

2. The new NEC members assumed duties at very critical and challenging times. With General Elections coming in early 2019 any political party worth its salt must get its internal dynamics right, and march as a team towards a decisive time as that of major elections in a country.

3. Today, we are meeting to look at some major decisions that will get us ready for an excellent performance at the polls next year, starting with party primaries at various levels. I urge you all to ensure that decisions taken here today are those that will avail the good of the party, and ones that meet the yearnings and expectations of our teeming members and supporters nationwide. They look up to us for guidance, and we must not disappoint or fail them.

4. Let me congratulate the current leadership of our party, led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. The team emerged at a most turbulent time, when there were rumours and speculations of massive defection, in a way to possibly rock the very foundations of the party.

5. Despite conciliatory attempts to keep the house together, some members were hell-bent on pulling down the roofs. They left, plotting to go along with scores of people, thus upsetting the apple cart. But due to the yeoman’s work by the new party leadership, the exit barely made a dent in our superstructure, as they could not muster the figures they had envisaged to cause an upset, particularly in the two chambers of the National Assembly. APC remains in control, and increases by the day, with quality people joining our fold. I say congratulations to the new NEC members.

6. Hope is rekindled in our hearts that we will give our country purposeful leadership that will improve the quality of lives of the people. We will continue to secure the country, fight graft, and position the economy in a way that jobs can be provided for our youths, and give them a future and a hope.

7. We will fulfill all the promises we have made to Nigerians. We are fulfilling them, and will continue to serve with heart and might, to build a nation where peace, justice, and prosperity shall reign.

8. As we stand at the threshold of party primaries, I urge all and sundry to ensure that we play the game according to the rules. Let us come out with free, fair, and credible primaries, which will be a precursor to free, fair, and credible General Elections next year. Let us shine the light through our primaries, and the rest of the country will find the way.

9. Our primaries must be in complete compliance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, the Electoral Act and above all the constitution of our great party, APC.

10. The times in which we are call for unity, harmony and togetherness. Let us all join hands to move the party forward. We must take our party to the next level, and I urge all and sundry to give support to our National Working Committee.

Politics2019: Saraki Declares Intention To Run For Presidency by 7Ebisco(op): 6:21pm On Aug 30, 2018
The President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, on Thursday declared his intention to run for the presidency of the country in the 2019 general elections.

Saraki made the declaration at a dialogue with youths and young aspirants in Abuja on Thursday, and promised an inclusive government for all Nigerians, if elected.

He said that he would ensure that all Nigerians enjoyed “the inalienable right to feel a sense of belonging no matter their background or creed or what part of the country they come from.

“No matter who you voted for or what your convictions are, government must work for you.

“I have decided to answer the call of teeming youth who have asked me to run for president.

“Accordingly, I hereby announce my intention to run for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the coming general elections in 2019 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“I do so with the firm conviction that I have what it takes to secure inclusive growth for Nigeria and Nigerians.

“My plan for Nigeria has inclusion in all aspects of the country’s affairs as a central pillar.”

Saraki said that the young generation did not deserve to “live in the poverty capital of the world’’.

“It is no longer an issue of how we got here, but how do we get out of this situation? I promise you that I will lead the fight and employ every God-given resource available to us in turning things around.

“I am determined to grow Nigeria out of poverty. We will stimulate the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as one of the ways of energising the economy and to create wealth for our people, especially the youth.

“I want to see the youth play major roles at all levels, not only in government but also in the private sector and indeed in every area of Nigerian life.

“This will be a government driven by youthful energy, innovation and a pioneering entrepreneurial spirit.

“Nigerian youth will be given all the opportunities to realise their potential to the full within a national framework that guarantees inclusiveness.

“For youth who have ideas and capacity, we will make sure that there is funding for their ventures, and we shall build on the Made-in-Nigeria legislation as part of our job-creation drive,’’ he said.

The president of the senate also said that his plan was to secure Nigeria by redesigning national security architecture, while adequately equipping security agencies to fulfil their primary role of protecting lives and property.

He promised to address infrastructural deficit through aggressive financing initiatives, including mutually beneficial Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) arrangements, regular floating of bonds and other financial instruments.

He explained that the partnership would ensure stable, adequate and reliable funding to see to the completion of core projects, especially road, rail and power.

According to Saraki, my plan is to protect all Nigerians and defend their constitutional rights and freedoms.

He said pledged that to stand for and uphold at all times, the principle of the rule of law, which was the bedrock of democratic governance.

“Ours will not be a selective fight against corruption. The emphasis will be on strengthening institutions, with a particular focus on deterrence.

“We cannot afford to compromise our institutions with proxy wars against perceived political opponents.

“We see the fight against corruption as crucial to Nigeria’s economic development. I offer leadership driven by empathy, where leaders are responsive to the citizens; where they know that government cares.

“We will not be indifferent or turn a blind eye to the real concerns of our people – every single Nigerian life matters.

“For me, the leadership we deserve is one that will be a source of pride to all Nigerians; one that will be respected and admired in Africa and around the world.

“It should be a leadership that can hold its own and stand tall anywhere in the world. That is the type of leadership I offer.

“As a former two-term governor and currently President of the Senate, by the grace of God, I believe I possess a unique blend of executive and legislative experience to push for and implement reforms.

“I know what it takes to create jobs and grow the economy. I can make the tough decisions when it matters. I will spearhead a new agenda that can transform the lives of ordinary Nigerians in real terms,” he said.

Saraki pointed out that it would not be business as usual, adding that his government would be dynamic and ensure the growth of the country with doggedness, determination and conviction.

He promised to lead a result-driven administration as well as set targets with clear timelines to ensure that anticipated deliverables were met.

He said, “You can benchmark us and hold us accountable. In short, I assure you that I will deliver on all promises.

“What I envision is a new chapter in governance in this country. We will be driven by what is best for Nigerians.

“I have deliberately chosen the opportunity of being here with you, my `Number One constituency’ who I see as the future of our great country, to make my intention known.

“I believe the Nigerian youth are critical to re-building and growing the economy, and restoring our national pride.

“Let me say, once again, how wonderful it is to see so many talented and purposeful young people at this first edition of the Public Dialogue Series with Political Parties on Youth Candidacy and Party Primaries.

“Looking at you, I see future leaders who present themselves as capable and worthy to take on the mantle of leadership in this country, and this gladdens my heart.

“From my interactions with many of you, and with your contemporaries across the country, I can see that we are blessed with a determined generation that stands ready to join with us to power a Nigerian renaissance.

“The quality of people I see here today affirms my belief that, indeed, you are Not-Too-Young-To-Run.”

Saraki appreciated the youth for the opportunity to share some of their ideas about the challenges before Nigeria as the 2019 elections approached.

According to him, it is widely acknowledged that ours is a relatively ‘young’ country bursting with tremendous energy, ability and potential. More than 70 per cent of our population is under the age of 40.

“You are indeed the future of this country. Ordinarily, such a young population would be the envy of many Western countries that are faced with ageing populations, but the dire state of our affairs tarnishes the youthful advantage that we have.

“Nigerians are crying out for succour everywhere; many of our children are hungry. Many people are dying of avoidable or otherwise treatable diseases.

“Many have fallen below basic living standards, and are now among the 87 million that sealed Nigeria’s position as the country with the highest number of people in extreme poverty.

“Our young people lack opportunities. The necessary education facilities and system to equip them for the future simply do not exist.

“We are not creating the jobs needed to usefully engage them in order to grow our economy.

“Too often, the youth feel shut out, prevented from having any say in the direction of this nation.

“The harsh conditions of extreme poverty faced by the people fuels the state of insecurity all over the country. Hunger, lack of education and lack of opportunities push many Nigerians into criminal activities, including terrorism.

“Many of our communities are paralysed with fear due to incessant communal crises, kidnappings and other social ills as well as the threat of terrorism.

“We are failing abysmally to tackle the problems of today and to prepare for the future,’’ he stated.

The president of the senate added that the nation’s economy was broken and in need of urgent revival in order for Nigeria to grow, adding that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate had declined and diversification remained an illusion.

“Unemployment is at an all-time high; businesses are shutting down and jobs are being lost in record numbers, and the capital needed to jumpstart our economy is going elsewhere.

“Nigeria is perhaps more divided now than ever before. We are increasingly divided along regional, religious and ethnic lines.

“Nigerians are also divided by class, a festering gulf between the ‘Haves’ and the ‘Have-Nots’.

“The fault lines of this nation are widening to an alarming degree. We must do something fast, and we must be brave about it.

“We must ensure the security of lives in Nigeria. As things stand now, no one is safe in this country; no one feels truly safe.

“We must restore the sanctity of the rule of law and strengthen democratic institutions in order to build a just, fair and equitable society for all.

“We must rebuild the trust of our people in government. We need a new generation of leaders that are competent, with the capability to rise to the challenges of the 21st century.

“We must pull this country back together and rebuild, block-by-block, with dedication and commitment.

“You will agree with me that this is an urgent task that requires the concerted efforts of each and every one of us. If we look around today, what do we see? What is the condition of our citizens? Where are we as a nation?

“How are we perceived locally and internationally? Why are we not making the expected progress? Why are we not growing? There is no time to waste.

“The time is now to come together to stimulate growth in Nigeria, especially in the national economy,’’ he said.

Saraki added that the choice Nigerians faced in the forthcoming election was either to keep things as they were or make a radical departure from the old ways.

He called on well-meaning Nigerians to work with him to actualise his dreams.

PoliticsBuhari’s 12 Million Votes From The North Has Reduced - PDP Presidential Aspirant by 7Ebisco(op): 6:11am On Aug 30, 2018
- Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki said President Buhari cannot get 12 million votes in the north

- The presidential aspirants said the supporters of Buhari have reduced

- He accused the APC of failure

Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki who is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot lay claim to 12 million votes from the north.

Daily Trust reports that the former minister of special spoke at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, August 29 where he obtained his nomination form.

Turaki who was represented by his campaign director of publicity, Sola Atere, said President Buhari does not have what it takes to garner so many northern votes again.

He said: “And if you look at a lot of the projects they are laying claim to, they were established by the PDP. This is a government that has been making mistakes at every point in time. Nigerians know all these things. The so-called 12 million voters they are laying claim to would have been reduced.

“Because if you look at the economic situation, where people are complaining that they cannot even have one square meal, how do you expect them to come out and aggravate votes up to 12 million for somebody who has been the architect of their misfortune?”

Meanwhile, a former head of state, Ibrahim Babangida, has thrown his weight behind the a presidential aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Turaki.

Babangida said Turaki's presidential agenda is capable of redeeming Nigeria.

Speaking while playing host to the PDP presidential aspirant at his residence in Minna, Niger state, Babangida said, Nigeria’s Unity must not be compromised.

The former head of state said Nigeria has been so divided that he thinks if given the chance, Turaki drive the country into witnessing tremendous development strides.

PoliticsBiafra: IPOB Blows Hot, Declares Total Strike September 14 by 7Ebisco(op): 6:30pm On Aug 28, 2018
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has declared September 14, 2018 as a day of general strike, mourning and resistance across the South East and neigbouring states.

The group said the decision was reached as a result of what it called “the ongoing campaign of ethnic and religious persecution, genocide and humiliation of the people of Biafra in general.”

In a statement made available to DAILY POST by the Media and Public Secretary of the group, Comrade Emma Powerful, the IPOB claimed that the Igbo people in particular had been victims of humiliation and ethnic persecutions in this regime of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the statement, the persecution of Igbo people culminates in the recent “abominable” incarceration of innocent mothers, grand mothers and great grand mothers in Owerri prisons.

The IPOB added, “We the Indigenous People of Biafra do hereby declare 14 September 2018 a day of general strike, mourning and resistance across Biafraland.

“Inhabitants of South East/South South and all conscientious Biafrans living in other parts of Nigeria and the world are required to stay indoors away from work or daily business activities throughout the day of the 14th of September 2018 to register our anger and protest regarding the men and women killed at Afaraukwu in Umuahia during Operation Python Dance II on September 14 last year, those killed in Ngwa, Aba, Igweocha (Port Harcourt) and buried in unmarked mass graves as a result of unprovoked military invasion of Biafraland by the Nigerian Army.

“We shall also remember all those killed in the struggle for the restoration of Biafra independence since August 2015 when the army shot dead Mr Okafor in Onitsha on a peaceful march from Nkpor to Onitsha main town. Their sacrifice will neither be forgotten nor will it be in vain, because come what may, this generation of IPOB must and will restore Biafra.

“The sacrilegious and disgraceful humiliation of Igbo women, some of them great grand-mothers, ranks as one of the most abominable act of desecration ever visited upon the land of Biafra in recorded history. It will mark the defining event that completed the shame and humiliation of the Igbo race. The cowardice and impotency of Igbo socio-political and cultural leadership in the face of such humiliation by a single Fulani police officer in Owerri is confirmation, if one is needed, that South East and South South regions are conquered territories and vassal colonies of the Sokoto caliphate.

“Nationwide general strike observed as a sit-at-home across Biafraland on the 14th of September 2018, is the only way we Biafrans can honour our fallen brethren and legitimately remind our northern oppressors and their collaborators in our midst that enough is enough! We do not want another Operation Python Dance or another mass murder of Biafra agitators and humiliation of our mothers in our land. Biafraland we state categorically, must emerge a free nation under God, whether our enemies like it or not.

“What happened at Afaraukwu, the desecration of house of a traditional ruler, the slaughter of innocent men and women: the wholesale massacre along the Ngwa segment of Enugu-Igweocha (Port Harcourt) Expresswa, countless number of mass graves across Biafraland, is repulsive, inhumane, barbaric and worthy of total condemnation by all right thinking people. We await the day United Nations and other world bodies will give the issue of Biafra the same level of prominence it is giving Rhohingya.

“All businesses, offices, markets, schools and road transportation will be shut down for 24 hours from midnight of the 13th of September. There will be no human or vehicular movement across Biafraland. People are expected to stay at home to pray for the soul of the brave and reflect upon the bondage our land is under.

“Any person or persons seen outside on the 14th of September 2018 will be classed as an enemy of the people because only collaborators in Ohaneze and South East Governors Forum that instigated Operation Python Dance and encouraged the army to kill unarmed innocent IPOB agitators will dare challenge this directive.

“As well as honouring our heroes that died in Afaraukwu a year ago and other places in Biafraland, 14 September 2018 shall expose who the saboteurs undermining the freedom of Biafra truly are.”

CrimeMother Sells Six-week-old Baby In Edo… She Used The Proceeds To Buy Mobile Phone by 7Ebisco(op): 8:51am On Aug 27, 2018
The Edo state police command have arrested 23-year-old mother of two, Miracle Johnson, pictured above, for selling her six-week-old baby and using proceeds from the transaction to buy a phone.

Punch reports that Miracle who hails from Agenebode in Etsako East local government area of the state, had sold her baby, Greatness, to an orphanage in Onitsha, Anambra State, for N200,000.

Miracle said she was pushed to sell her baby because of financial hardship being experieneced by herself and her husband.

“My baby was born on July 2. I sold her due to frustration. My husband was just struggling (to provide for us). My friend (Mama Joy) said that since my husband was not taking care of me, if I did it (sold the baby), I could give the money to my husband to start a business or buy a motorcycle. Two weeks later, she came back. I did not know what happened to me. So, I carried a bag, picked some things and left. I sold her to an orphanage in Onitsha. The orphanage bought the child for N200,000. I just bought only a phone; I did not want to buy it, but she (Mama Joy) forced me to do so.

I told my pastor what I did and that it was a mistake for which I would never forgive myself. So, my husband and I went to a police station to report. I know what I did was not good. I pray that my child will forgive me.”

When interrogated, her husband, Johnson Omovuokpor, was angry that his wife still stold their child despite his disapproval of her plan.

“When she told me about her plan, I told her to forget about it and exercise patience. On that day, I took my motorcycle out for repairs. When I went back home to get some money, I saw my first daughter with my neighbour. When I asked about my wife’s whereabouts, I was told that she went out with a bag, saying that she was going to buy something. So, I remembered what she said she wanted to do with the baby. When she called me later in the afternoon to tell me that she had sold the baby, I cursed her and ended the call. I became confused afterwards and could not do anything for the rest of that day.”

The Commissioner of Police in the state said the baby would be rescued while the suspect would be charged to court.

When he came to open the door, I noticed the pant he wore was wet and I quickly cracked a joke, this one your pant is like this ‘kiloshele ganhan’?

He said his ordinary girlfriend is in the bedroom

I was like ordinary girlfriend in the room? He said Yes that, she just wanted to take a nap and I was like why didn’t she go into the guest room? Next thing he went on his kneels saying “babe I am sorry” and me was like, stop it you haven’t done anything, sit down let’s watch TV

I switched on the TV and was feeling so cool with myself waiting for ordinary girlfriend to wake up and comma be going. Guess what, she wasn’t even sleeping but ashamed madam has caught cheaters plus she was too scared to come to the livingroom but rather, she shut the door. Gbam

In between, she has been calling our boyfriend to come inside the room but the fear of Bodex didn’t even allow him go. After so many hours, our boyfriend went maybe to ask her to leave and I think she requested lights be put off. Our boyfriend came out and put off the lights.

I was like why put off light na? He quickly put it on and then sat with me. Ordinary girlfriend stayed so many hours and finally summoned the courage to come out and walked like an offended snail I was like hey girl hope you enjoyed yourself, have a nice day and she took off

Told my boyfriend to change the mattress, bed spread and pillows because I didn’t want any nonentity sweat to mix with my destiny

He did all that and I told him to go shower, brush and clean up. He did.

I asked, did I offend you before? He said No. Do I satisfy you? Yes he said

Then suddenly, I changed the environment to a much friendly one and he got carried away not knowing my intention. Gave him the cex of his life for good 12hours with breaks in between, food, fruits, gist and we even gisted about the girl he slept with and we laughed so loud

Next day, he said *baby I am truly sorry for all that happened*

I cleaned up, made his bed, made him breakfast and kissed him *GOODBYE, ITS OVER BETWEEN US AND HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE TOTAL MEAL*Wink

The look on his face changed and tears dropped like that of Atlantic Ocean. Yinmu

So Ladies/Gentleman, breaking up from cheating partners shouldn’t always be curses, abuses or fights. You can actually end any Unprofitable/Toxic relationship with profitable actions that will leave betrayals wow for the rest of their lives.

PoliticsLadoja Speaks On Hardship In Nigeria, Demolition Of Yinka Ayefele’s Fresh FM by 7Ebisco(op): 2:54pm On Aug 22, 2018
Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja on Tuesday explained why there is so much hardship and groaning among Nigerians till today.

He said that the economic condition in Nigeria was hard because those in government have refused to accept the truth about the hardship being experienced by Nigerians.

The former governor made these revelations while addressing journalists shortly after he observed the two-rakah compulsory Eld-Kabir prayer at the University of Ibadan Central Mosque.

According to him, the failure to accept that there is a problem is the main reason the government cannot search for solutions to it.

He added that salary earners in Nigeria were suffering the most under the present government.

The Osi-Olubadan of Ibadanland who noted that the civil servants who started earning N18,000 minimum wage in 2003 when dollar exchanged for N150 are still earning the same amount when dollar now exchanges for N370, said civil servants are now earning less than half of their salaries 15 years after.

While praying for a better country and Sallah celebrations for all Nigerians next year, Ladoja lamented that the hardship in the country has heightened and called for urgent steps to address the disturbing situation.

He stated that the way out of the woods was for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to accept the fact that there are problems so as to find solutions to them.

On the demolition of the Music House of Yinka Ayefele, the former governor who described it as unfortunate said that the government should have called on the owner for regularization of his approval papers and fined him for negligence if he went outside the approval.

The Chief Imam of the University of Ibadan, Professor Abdulrahman Oloyede while urging Nigerians to continue to live in peace and harmony with themselves urged them to collect their PVCs and vote for people of good characters.

Oloyede in his sermon added that the sacrifice all Nigerians must make now is to get their PVCs and vote for people of their choice.

He said “As Muslims and Nigerians, we must make sacrifice, but the sacrifice we need now is to get our PVCs and elect people of our choice.

“Don’t let anybody intimidate you, we have the people, it is the people that have the power to elect their leaders, I urge those who are yet to collect their PVCs to do so so as to vote for people who will fight for us. That is why I called the Ummah to go out and get their PVCs.

“Our message is to take Nigerians as they are, we should take ourselves as we are, we should tolerate one another, I may be a Muslim, you may be a Christian, I should accept you as you are and you should accept me as I am. It is not our make to be Nigerians, so let us accept ourselves as we are”.

CelebritiesWicked World!! “kidnappers Think My Son Sends Millions To Me” – Mikel Obi’s Fath by 7Ebisco(op): 9:42pm On Aug 21, 2018
Chief Michael Obi, 74, is the father of professional footballer and Super Eagles Captain, John Mikel Obi. He recently regained freedom from kidnappers for the second time.

In this interview, the Jos-based transporter recalls his terrifying five-day experience, reasons why his famous son rarely comes home, and more.

See excerpts from a recent interview he granted below:

You recently regained your freedom from kidnappers. Can you share your experience?

Chief Michael Obi: I was travelling home for a family meeting, early evening, in Enugu. I’d just reminded my driver to stop at the Ninth Mile to buy Okpa in case I fall asleep. Not quite long after a checkpoint, we heard gunshots ahead of us, so we stopped.

My driver reckoned it was armed robbers, and tried to reverse the car. But another car from nowhere blocked us from behind, and the people within came and dragged us out.

The kidnappers were six, well-armed and masked. They assaulted us, and dragged us into the bush. We walked for many hours, and when I complained that I could not continue, they beat me again. Eventually, they told my driver to carry me on his back. But after a while, he also got tired and dropped me.

We walked into the bush for what seemed like the whole night, until the next morning. I asked them what they wanted from me, and that was when they told me they wanted N100 million. We communicated in Hausa, and some broken English.

I told them I could not afford it, and they said they heard that my son sends me N50 million to me bi-weekly. We started to negotiate, and they threatened to kill me. I told them I only had N2 million in my bank account.

When I noticed they were serious, I told them I could give them N5 million. We agreed on that sum, but they later refused, insisting on N50 million. I finally pegged it at N10 million. Two days later, they brought out my phone to call my son Tony, and I told him what was happening, and asked him to go to my bank.

But when they went there, the manager was not on seat, so my other son, Ebele, who is the goalkeeper for Heartlands of Owerri, contacted Mikel. That was how the ransom was made available.

How was the exchange done?

Chief Obi: I asked them how the money could be made available to them, and they suggested that the money be brought to Mile 9. On Friday, my sons tried to get the money, but it could only be made available on Monday, since banks didn’t operate at the weekend. When I told the kidnappers, they got mad and beat me.

So, in the early hours of Monday, they brought the phone and asked me to speak with my son, in English or Hausa only. My son told me they were on their way with the money, and the kidnappers warned that if we dare involve the police they would kill me. It was almost 12 noon when my son called to say they were at the agreed spot. God so kind, they used one of our transport buses, so they were able to cross the police checkpoint without any hitch.

The kidnappers warned that if they find that the money was short, they would kill me. But after almost two hours of the ransom arriving, the kidnappers still didn’t go to collect the money. I told them not to blame me if anything happens to the money. They ignored me, and their leader brought out marijuana and shared it round, and they smoked. When they finished, four of them left, leaving two to guard us.

Almost two hours later, the two asked us to get up and move, then gave my driver one of my phones. A few minutes later, we heard gunshots. We fell to the ground, while the two ran off. As we lay there, we heard shouts saying the shooters were the police, come to rescue us. They did, and led us to the main road.

What about your car, and the ransom money?

Chief Obi: It was later that the DPO told us that my car was at the police station. My son Tony who carried the money told me they didn’t collect it at the Ninth Mile, but asked him to follow them with the money. He said they moved into the bush, where he saw more armed gang members. He gave them the money, and they examined it. They later asked him to leave, and he came back and we reunited at a relative’s filling station.

How did they treat you when you were with them?

Chief Obi: We slept on the ground, and for the five days we were with them, there was heavy rain for three. It drenched us under a tree. It was only once that they brought us Okpa and pure water. Miraculously, I was never hungry. My thoughts were on how to get home safe.

How different was the experience from the one of 2011?

Chief Obi: Those first kidnappers did not treat me as badly as these ones. Though I stayed in a bunker for 11 days during the first, they gave me food and the only time they beat me was when they captured me.

Was any ransom paid then?

Chief Obi: None was paid. It was the handwork of God

Your son Mikel paid the recent ransom. What’s your relationship like?

Chief Obi: It is an issue, but we don’t know what to do. It’s over five years now without a phone call from him to me. But he communicates with his mother.

There is nothing I have not done to fix it. God has told me that I should not feel hurt. When we start to talk about it, I say, ‘Well, as long as I see him on TV, doing great, no problem’.

But some people say he called you recently.

Chief Obi: During the just-concluded World Cup, one or two days to one of their matches, we spoke. He called his mum, and she told me that Nchekwube (Mikel) was on the phone and I told him that God will see him through. I prayed for him. That’sit.

When he first joined Chelsea, my people in Anambra were very happy that God has blessed their son, and when he came to Abuja, they prepared very well with the hope that he will come to our hometown. They even made some magazines. It was grand. But he didn’t come. It was a shameful thing to me, as a father. He once told his brother that sometimes he picks his phone to call me, but something tells him not to.

Have you met your grandchildren, the twins, yet?

Chief Obi: Sometime last year, he was to bring them so that I could name them, he said he would. But he didn’t. His other colleagues frequent home, so I don’t understand.

Do you encourage him to invest at home?

Chief Obi: Isn’t that why kidnappers are targeting me? Because they think the money he makes, he ships it to me to make investments.

PoliticsWhy Tinubu Was Wrong About Me, My Defection – Saraki by 7Ebisco(op): 4:38am On Aug 21, 2018
The Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, has said that he has always restrained from joining issues in the media with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite his wrong impression of him.

The Senate President said his decision was based on his respect for the former Lagos State Governor.

The Senate President said this while reacting to the statement by Tinubu about his exit from the ruling party, saying the former Lagos State governor was completely wrong.

Saraki said he will not allow Tinubu to create a wrong, false and mischievous impression on his decision to exit the APC and present his prejudice as facts for public consumption.

In a statement signed and made available to DAILY POST by the Senate President, he said that he had always complained about the lack of internal democracy in the ruling party, adding that the President Muhammadu administration always treats the legislature with contempt.

Saraki added, “I have been consistent in my complaints to all leaders of the APC, including Tinubu, that a situation where the National Assembly is not constructively engaged or carried along in key policy decisions, particularly those that will eventually require legislative approval, is not in the best interest of the nation.

“No genuine leader of the legislature will be comfortable that the Presidency will simply write a terse letter to the National Assembly on key issues which the federal legislature is expected to later deliberate upon and give its approval.

“The Buhari administration consistently treats the legislature with contempt and acts as if the lawmaking body should be an appendage of the Executive. To me, this is unacceptable.

“In the same way, I find it very objectionable that many stakeholders who worked strenuously to get the administration into office have now been excluded in the government and not consulted on key decisions as necessary and expected.

” In fact, some of them are treated as pariahs. A party that ignores justice, equity and inclusion as basic pre-conditions for peace, unity and stability cannot sustain its membership and leadership.

“Let me redirect the attention of the former Governor of Lagos State to the aspect of my July 31, 2018, statement announcing my exit from APC in which I emphasized that the decision ‘has been inescapably imposed on me by certain elements and forces within the APC who have ensured that the minimum conditions for peace, cooperation, inclusion and a general sense of belonging did not exist’

“However, during those meetings, the point of disagreement between Tinubu and I is that while I expressed my worries that there is nothing on ground to assure me that the administrative style and attitude would change in the next four years in a manner that will enable us to deliver the positive changes we promised to our people, he (Tinubu) expressed a strong opinion that he would rather ‘support a Buhari on the hospital stretcher’ to get a second term because in 2023, power will shift to the South-west. This viewpoint of Tinubu’s was not only expressed to me but to several of my colleagues. So much for acting in national interest.

“It is clear that while my own decision is based on protecting the collective national interest, Tinubu will rather live with the identified inadequacies of the government for the sake of fulfilling and preserving his presidential ambition in 2023. This new position of Tinubu has only demonstrated inconsistency — particularly when one reviews his antecedents over the years.”

CelebritiesWaje: How Timaya Gifted Me My Latest Single by 7Ebisco(op): 4:37pm On Aug 20, 2018
Waje, Nigerian singer, says her latest single ‘Kpolongo’ was given to her by Timaya.

Narrating how the song was birthed, the ‘I Wish’ singer said Timaya invited her to his house and they listened to some beats together.

“Timaya called me up and asked if I was free on that day and I was,” she said in a radio interview on SoundCity.

“So I drove to his house and he played me a couple of beats.

“After we had gone like five songs in I was like ‘that first song’ and he said he was thinking I should have the song.

“I was like what do you mean ‘have it’? Like you want to feature me or do I carry the song and be going.

“And he said yeah Waje you can have the song and I said okay. In one hour I wrote my verse, recorded. The producer Micon is amazing and that’s how we have the song.”

The 37-year-old singer said the video of the song is currently in the pipeline. Waje also said she is critical of her performance, outfits and appearance while shooting videos.

“I’m usually very critical of myself. I’m horrible,” she said. “I can’t watch a video of myself and think the best of it.

“I usually play it for other people and they’ll be the judge. I just saw the first cut and I’m actually very impressed.”

The ‘So Inspired’ singer gushed about the time she met Barack Obama, former US president.

Waje was in June invited to participate in the Obama Foundation Leaders: Africa, a five-day leadership development programme which held in South Africa.

“At first when I saw Obama I was like ‘ha’,” Waje said.

“It’s just that I’m a Christian woman. Jesus would be upset.”

Waje said what she brings to the table is more than her musical offerings although music has opened many doors for her.

“Career-wise, it was huge because I was a speaker at the Academy,” she said.

“It’s just a testament of the doors that music opens to you.

“You think it’s just about stage but you forget that as you move ahead, there are things you learn that other people would want to take from you and you position yourself in a place where people now see you as a young leader.

“I feel like I have brought more to the table than just carrying a microphone and singing, that I’m actually affecting people’s lives by making sure that they get at least the basic health care.”

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Anthony Ogbizi, said in Umuahia on Thursday that the woman was arrested with two others for their alleged involvement in the deal. The suspect, who claimed to be a prophetess, was arrested with the 17-year-old mother of the baby, Chinanu Monday, and the man who allegedly impregnated her, Promise Lazarus.

Monday told newsmen in an interview that she was delivered of her baby in the home of the prophetess and after the delivery “they took the baby away and sold him.”

She said that she was not involved in the deal as she was not given any money and did not know the buyer and whereabouts of her baby.

“When I was pregnant, Lazarus took me to the woman and she took delivery of the baby in her home, after the baby was delivered, they took him away and sold him,” she said.

She said that she took in for Lazarus in December when they both met.

Lazarus and the prophetess, however, denied the allegation and described the girl’s story as baseless. Lazarus said that he met the girl in March, contrary to her claim that they met in December.

“She told me in April that she was pregnant and I told her that I would come to her parents for introduction with drinks and kola nuts, Surprisingly, while I was making plans to visit her parents, policemen came to my house and arrested me, accusing me of child trafficking,” Lazarus said.

The prophetess described the allegation as unfounded, saying that the girl was never pregnant and could not have given birth to a baby.

“I want the girl to be examined by a medical doctor to ascertain if she gave birth to a baby,”
she said.

Also in police net are 19-year-old Mary Friday and 20-year-old Chinyere Achonna, who was arrested at an alleged baby factory at Umunkpei in Isialangwa North Local Government Area of the state. The girls said that they were impregnated by their boyfriends and introduced to the baby factory, where they would be taken care of before their possible dates of delivery.

Mr Paragon Kelechi, 52, who was arrested along with the two expectant mothers, said he took them to Umuahia to be scanned when they were arrested. Kelechi said that he was asked to assist to take the girls to Umuahia by the owner of the baby factory, popularly known as Mma.
