I smh for this generation.. especially those saying they quit or can't take a job because of this policy.
So what is more important to y'all is your bag and not the money or the job you're hired to do? Like seriously?

Are you going to hold your bag while discharging your duties? Or what exactly is your point? You don't think at all...

When you're working, your bag is still going to be lying dormant beside you. So I see no difference submitting it except you are up to something shady.

When you're working in some companies or factory abroad, your bags and things will be tucked away somewhere till you're done. Are you now going to start leaving jobs because of that?

My baby mama once worked with GTB data centre at Eleguisi.
They had same policy, tho I think it's not about submitting phones but about the use(same shit different toilets if you ask me) I used to call their customer service (mind you i didnt have a GT account) and insist on speaking with a particular agent, they would have no choice but to pass the call to her. Got to a point, they just pass the call to her without delay.
Asked her to quit for my own sanity, leaving my sons at home alone with a maid whose last name I don't know for 80k+ wasnt worth it for me.
Asked her to quit and increased her allowance, make my mind rest, make instablog no carry my Pikin murder news.
you truly love your family

There is no relationship btw submitting your phone and your pay package . I have worked in such establishment . They are doing that to protect there business . When I worked with baba ijebu ...they will search and ask us to drop our phones . In the past someone made them.pay darely by ...he sent out the winning number to a particular agent and the agent use it to defraud the company...The time I joined the company they were trying to migrate from paper to computer base ...

Your pay package is a function of your qualification and skill ...is also depends on your ability to bargain . If you don't like the condition move on.
Ok I just found one human that would selflessly find the company to be right all the time. You had a good point but then again cutting people social communication is a big discomfort to their social life, your company thrive on the fact of extorting laborer since they have little to no choice than to accept peanuts while working in a compelling environment

Nothing bad about the policy, how would you update your Facebook page when you are on company's paid time.
I have been working my job for 6 years , once I clock in my phone goes in the locker room till shift change. the phone slows down operational activities and diverts attention away from your job.
Guess is Nigeria thing to press phone at work.

Regardless of the job, you sign job offers that clearly stated the dos and don't of the job.

I have seen useless people, typically a female working at a grocery store checkout and on their phone watching YouTube videos or chatting. I have sternly told a few to pay attention to their job while I’m in front of them.
So I don’t blame employers in this Nigeria.
I had one CEO tell me that he no longer hires females because they are often online chatting with guys(boyfriends) all day to secure their 2nd/3rd/4th paychecks while they’re supposed to be working for him.
Give an inch, often a mile is taken.

As a student, I worked part time on the sales desk of an insurance company in the UK. The requirement to keep our phones locked away in our lockers during work hours wasn’t due to any “wickedness” or high-handedness of management, but in compliance with the strict UK financial regulations that governed our operations since we took credit card numbers and other sensitive PID information to purchase insurance over the phone, which needed to be as far from any recording devices as possible.

And apart from the monthly ÂŁ2k in wages & bonuses, working there was fun and rewarding in more ways than one.

So, yes!

Does workers law equate to being addicted to phones to the extent of barely working?

And how is getting her off a job that takes a way her freedom and paying her more than the job does result in controlling her?
You slow pokes always looking for fault in others.
She stayed at home took time to come up with a good business, which I was happy to help her with, today she is financially independent and she is grateful to me for that.
That I am not married to her doesnt mean I shouldn't be concerned about her welfare, you are probably one of those men who abandon their children and their mother because the marriage or relationship didn't work out, some of us are not like that.
I just changed her car, I believe that is me controlling her too according to your small brain....

Let me school you a bit on this incase you have abandoned a lady who has your child.

I put my baby mama in a good home in a nice estate not for her but for my sons.
I change her car not because of her but because of my sons
I give her enough money to take care of herself not because of her but for my sons.
I respect and care for her because of my sons.

Reason: Whatever man wants to approach her will understand he has to be of a class, you don't want some low lives becoming your sons step-father.
You dont want your kids arriving at school with a dead car while their mates ride in nice SUVs
You dont want your children growing up with the memory of their mum looking unkept, they will hate you for that.

So kido grow up, we do the things we do for our kids

Lol.. You just reminded me of one Intl company I worked with in Europe (Istanbul). There were little glass lockers which we kept our phones when resuming every morning.

The pay varied from uptill $1000 monthly inclusive of bonuses. Months after i had to leave there when i discovered somethings.

Not judging anyone because many factors are to blame but our overall productivity level in Nigeria is ridiculously low. The places with high productivity can match the best in the world on that aspect but most workplaces in Nigeria are a joke in terms of productivity. Easy money trickling down from corruption at high places is one of the factors.

What about companies where you will declare and submit the amount you bring to work and when you close from work to the security.
If the amount you declare at the gate exceeds when you are closing you are going to be sack.

If you can't take care of your children and their mother you have no right to be called a man or father, that you can't man up to take care of responsibilities that are rightfully yours doesn't mean you hate others for it.
It's nobody fault that you wanna turn out to be the kind of father the kids will be ashamed of.

That you don't take care of you baby-mama is act of wickedness, weakness and selfishness.
Having a child for gave her the name baby-mama, it reduced her market value and an African, it also might have affected her pursuit for her dreams and goals, the least you can do is be a good father to her.
Na men like you make children dey beg for street,

Mindset like this is why $ is N1,600. and people are protesting to feed today.
You aren't supposed to be on your phone during work hours if we want to be honest and ethical.
Are you asking people to demand monetary compensation for staying off their phones while at work?
We cannot build a global competitive economy with behaviors like this. We cannot progress as a country with behaviors like this. We will keep having idiots in political offices if we do not get serious with all aspect of our lives as a nation.
If it has gotten to a point where a company will require staff to submit phones everyday, then things are really bad for Nigeria
