Hi guys, please I really need your help.

I have a twelve years old son who is very lanky, he looks d*mn too malnourished for comfort. He was very robust from birth till around the age of 8, when all of a sudden he started depreciating, initially, we thought it was a normal thing, as he was growing taller too, but now, I can't even bring myself to post his pictures on my status. He looks just like 7up's Fido Dido.

He looks like his real father. Kindly go for DNA
Now, this is a boy who eats whatever he wants, he's well fed, and lacks nothing. But with his looks, you will doubt that he's even fed at all. Although he looks far from being healthy, but he rarely falls sick. He's so skiny that whoever sees him, asks us what's wrong with him. Another thing, he always leaves his mouth opened, something that has now affected his teeth. We tried every tricks in the book to stop this, but to no avail, he can hardly keep his lips shut for more than 30 seconds.

Now, he's is a very hyperactive boy and finds it difficult concentrating atimes, but he's well above average in school.

Kindly help with solutions to this problem, it brings tears to my eyes as we have done everything we can think of to reverse this. Recently, a doctor suggested we place him on egg regimen, he now eats 3 eggs daily, but there seems to be no changes whatsoever.
Recommended medications, specialist or hospital we can take him to, preferably in the South West would be highly appreciated.

He's my only child, please help a desperate father!!!🥺

Desperate father, stop asking for what is not lost.
From all you have said nothing is wrong with your boy. I have a boy like that, and he is healthy and rarely fall sick. But no one dare question why he is skinny. Is he their son? I protect him from harassment, embarrassment and bully from his mates and adults alike.
It is your responsibility to love him. And let him know you are proud of his stature and you are happy with him.
Let me ask you, which will you prefer, a boy that is overnight and you go to hospital every month or your lanky that rarely fall sick.
My son is 9 years old now and we have never slept a night in an hospital from his birth.
There are medical diagnosis to check if there is any issue with his organs or systems. And if there is no issue , medically, at aleast for now, what are you worried?
Please I beg you, don't let that boy lose his self esteem. Its bad that he will go to school daily and meet his mates trying to bully him. If you as his father is ashamed to post his picture, you are killing the young man for no just cause.
Go home. Stop making him become fat. Just live hi for who he is. Stop pressurising him to eat Love him for who he is
He may become fatter, he may not, but he is not less human. Treat him with respect and dignity he deserves.
God bless your family.
Amen
Thank you very much for your input.

There may be influx of parasite in his system.... Check online for the kind parasite that may have such negative effects on human.

It may also be hormonal issue or some kinds of allergy..... Get w doctor that can study him over a period time. Have close watch on him and document his daily activities over a period of time maybe you will notice a n unusual pattern of behaviour or reactions.

I understand your pains. God will intervene.

For seven years I was carrying my son from one place to the othe but thank God today, he's a delight.

Thanks a lot for your input. Will do again

When last did you deworm him?
The egg regimen is ok but try mixing alot of raw egg in the grounded beans to make moi moi. Do the first like 6 months. Don't boil the eggs and cut, just mix the raw egg in the grounded beans before steaming/ boiling.
If you can afford it,give a lot of rich tea with enough milk. Then again,he's not too young to try doing some little power exercises like pushups and lifting some little weights under your guidance,o...that will make him build muscles and bones. Try these.
Thanks a lot

1. Go FMC ( Federal medical centre) , if you are in lagos, go to the one in railway compound in Ebute meta. For series of test
2. See a nutritionist/dietician
3. Don't give your child any medication recommend on this platform oooo.

My son looked like someone who had kwashoko when he was 10years. We took him to Kiddies specialist hospital in Ilorin, where the doctor advised us to deworm him and give him nutritious food. He is now OK. Please take him to a general hospital

I doubt there's anything wrong with your son, at most you or your wife come from a family with tall people. Just take him to a good hospital for complete medical evaluation to clear all doubts then I'll suggest you look up Tom Brown then be preparing it like custard for him to drink regularly. You can add dried dates to the other ingredients before grinding as a sweetener. I'm sure you give him multivitamins regularly so if the hospital says he's okay, you'll just have to channel his stature into sports like basketball.

Ps, have you consulted a dietician/nutritionist ?

Thanks a lot...we haven't visited one yet, just regular Doctors, GPs.

Ops,

Your child might be suffering from Addison's disease (adrenal insufficiency) – This condition causes insufficient secretion of hormones from the adrenal cortex, which can cause weight loss
I am not by any stretch of imagination giving you a definitive diagnosis of your son’s medical condition.,
But it’s important that you see a pediatrician who’s experienced with this type of cases, possibly in a university college hospital where you have different professionals.
I am sorry about your situation. As a father, I know it must be really difficult for you.
A proper diagnosis is essential. Once he’s properly diagnosed, then the right treatment or management plan can be administered. He’ll be okay eventually.

Thank you very much, well appreciated

If he's up to 14 let him start hitting the gym. Same age Arnold Schwarzenegger started bodybuilding. I have boys less that age at where I work out.

Tips:
1. Hit the gym twice daily. Morning he should work on upper body lifting weights.. Assign a gym instructor for him let them put him through on benching and curling programs for a start. For evening he should work on legs. Make sure the gym has a bench press machine. He should also partake in squats and other leg building programs.

2. He should normalize eating either beans, cooked eggs, youghurt or a good amount of steak after a rigorous workout and stay hidrated afterwards. He could eat any other food Inbetween

3. He should stop eating late night foods and sleep at least 7 hours daily.

Try it for 6 months and see results for yourself. Unless he has internal deformities that restricts his body from forming muscles them no born am well make he no swell up.

Thanks for your contribution, but the boy is just 12.

Oga there is nothing wrong with your son! Abeg dont give him any medication to grown fat! My late younger brother was like that! When he was younger he was very fat as he became a teenager he became very slim and tall.

I took an injection to make me add weight over 20 years ago, now I dey fight to loss the weight but no way, I cant do a lot of things because of my obesity.

Your son is good! Maybe you need to have a lot of Father and Son moments with him now!

Lastly my neighbor took her friends advise, and gave her two years old son some multivitamins to make him add flesh, the small boy became over weight and died of breathlessness before his 7th birthday.

So, your boy is good!

He just need more of your Father and Son quality time
