Atiku did not score more than Obi.

Obi won the election with Atiku as runner-up.

God will punish Kalu Idika Kalu and Chu SP Okongwu. They brought this shit upon us.
Kalu Idika Kalu as the minister of budget and national planning
Olu Falae as the sgf
Chu SP Okogwu as the minister of finance.

These are the 3 apostle of naira devaluation under Babangida regime.
The tree 🌳 of the seeds they planted by their shortsighted economic policy is what has germinated andits giving us bad fruits till today.

Unfortunately, there have not be any chance of getting a better government to help uproot this bad tree.

In 1975, minimum wage was like 80 naira a month, so that Peugeot you are looking at was beyond the reach of average Nigerians.

Back then things were hard, and food was costly, especially meat.

Back then we ate one or two small pieces of meat with the rice. Nothing like ‘assorted’ back then.

Also people who bought 504 did so with loans from the office that had to be paid back

Thats a lie!!!

Peugeot 504 was never at any time sold for N1,500.

The starting price of a VW beetle around that time was N4,000.

Nope. The figure is right.

A beetle then was about 500 naira.

A bottle of maltina was around 75 kobo. Bread was around 50.kobo.

Salary of a lecturer in 1981 was 250.naira monthly.

You got it all wrong mate.
In 1975 , a senior civil servant could actually buy a car, build a bungalow, train all his children and even relatives in the university on his salary.
That's the real comparison of how Nigeria has been gradually raped and pillaged by rapacious leaders.

Most of the time, the cars were bought with loans advanced through the office.

Also , not only have we had bad leaders , but leaders who won't make us an exporter of manufactured goods, which is why the naira has fallen all these years

That is the power of CORRUPTION!!!!

It turns GOLD to SHIT!!!!!

That Is how far Nigerian leaders (irrespective of party) have dealt with Nigeria.

How much more damage will these wicked leaders commit before the citizens will start growing sense?

They were corrupt back then

Then, my uncle who was a cassava and yam farmer had one of these 504 and 404 pick up, brand new. But now, how many cassava and yam farmer can afford this.

There they go again...
Let me answer your question. The car was not on sale during Jonathan's regime. And the price of that bread is around N200. Lets compare the price of what price of other things: eg. a bag Rice during Jonathan's regime is N7,000, today the price of a bag of rice is over N90,000

Compare gej regime to 1975 and you would be saying pdp.wrecked Nigeria.

The problem is the naira and the economy has been on a free fall for decades because we hooked our economy to the price of crude oil.

Gej and all our leaders are not good. Tinubu especially.

What we are seeing now took decades.

The devaluation started with Babangida SFEM policy.
Second tier Foreign Exchange Market.
Yes.
There was a gradual devaluation before Babangida jargon of economics policy, but the real point of no return started with sfem.
My father bought a Peugeot 505GL at the cost of #6,000 ( six thousand naira only) in the year 1985.
Bought a Bedford lorry 5 tons at the cost of #11,000 the same year.
I can categorically remember my father and his friends saying that the vehicles are now costlier than they expected.
Now in Nigeria, what can we do with any amount up to 999,000 naira?
I just believed that life was much more easier then.
Hope is not lost
Life continues
Work hard
Try to meet up
God bless our hustling

The devaluation happened because we were running out of cash to buffer the naira.

Oil prices had crashed in 1982, and things were bad by 1985. Something had to be done.

I actually cross-checked, and the minimum wage in Nigeria was 60 naira in 1975.

Also, that Peugeot 504 was made in Nigeria.

That’s why it cost only 1,500 naira.

Innoson’s cheapest car cost around 7 million naira, so your 30 million naira figure for a brand new car is wrong and dishonest.

You need to apologise to forumers for your disinformation.

https://www.tekedia.com/innoson-vehicle-motors-brand-photos-with-prices/
Oga there is no innoson salon car for 7 million that's less than $5k ? Let's get real na
That was last year price not even sure that rice applied to last year

The cheapest salon last year was 12.3 million

Which means it's now minimum of 25 million

Let's say it's 20 million

It would still take u 55years on minimum wage to afford it

Even if minimum wage was 60 naira

It would still take u 2 years one month to buy it

What's exactly is your problem

The same bread was 50 kobo in 1978 , 200 in 1998, therefore Jona failed.

That was then. Pre-1982. Life was too good.
We started feeling the pinch from 1982. By 1986/87, the changes in our family finances for the worse became evident.

1982 was when the price of oil crashed, leading to serious economic issues for the rest of the decade.

Part of the reason why Iraq invaded Kuwait was chronic low oil prices plus 8 years war left a empty treasury. Saddam thought it would be good to raid Kuwait for the cash

In UK and US and major economies, you still can get cars for $1500 0r £1500. These are countries that refused to bow to the things we bow to in Nigeria, ethnic and religious sentiment in choosing our leaders.

UK and USA are manufacturing societies.

Nigeria is not.

Even when they chose leaders you like, all of them refuse to take our economy off oil and onto industries and manufacturing

That's why we have a bad currency

Lmao 🤣😂🤣😂 those cars at $1500 some years back cost about $1000 I don't know what part of the world you are living but you can check car auction in the US. And a lot of factors determine the price of car in the US for example: milage, year, the condition of the car, the title ( salvage or clean)
I bought my VW Passat 2014 model 3 years ago for $4,500 today it is about $6,000.
You people should stop deceiving yourselves. Every country faces inflation.
