Till eternity, Asaba and the entire Delta State will not be able to match Ibadan in anything development.

Structures built on government land.
How can an estate be unplanned? And how can estate make a slum.
An Ibadan native calling Asaba a slum. Wonders never end.

When we have authorities, how come multi million naira edifices spring and later on destroyed......
..well, a lesson to emerging states on best practices.....
a curse to those lands

Asaba is becoming a slum with unplanned estates everywhere. The state government should go ahead and sanitize the town just as Sanwo-Olu is sanitizing Lagos. Though the usual suspects will not wail because Delta is PDP state.

But if the demolition were to be in Lagos or any SW states, you would be screaming/shouting victimization.

Demolish all illegal structures both the ones that built on water ways and roads. After that come to Edo State but start with Benin city and destroy all illegal structures and Shanties for erosion is dealing havoc due to illegal land sellers and builders. Then restore Benin city to Ogbemudia master plan. God punish all the useless CDAs selling roads and water ways to f**k women in brothel and buy dead second hand cars. God punish them all. I feel for the unsuspecting innocent builders, may God console them.

There are demolitions for unapproved developments, recovery of private/govt land and to pave way for public infrastructure like roads, bridges, airports, railways, etc for the greater benefit of the public.

I've not seen that major infrastructural development of govt that does not involve takeover and compensation of people's properties. Even the FCT itself was done on people's ancestral land.

People should dig the history of big roads and some airports we are enjoying today and will discover someone or a family suffered some form of loss for it in the past.

Compulsory acquisition of land by the government for public use or for overriding public interest is well covered by the Land Use Act.
Yes , your posit might be correct to some extent, but why make it selective in Lagos? Why have they not gone to demolish houses n structures in agege, Lagos island , obalende, munshin, surulere ikotun n environs … These are yoruba dominated or evenly spread areas ,but various governments act like this slums do not exist. Instead they go to Igbo dominated areas like lekki, festac okoko etc to demolish.
The isolo- jakande -ikotun road has been in a very sorry state n in dire need of expansion, but the government has refused to do the needful cos of the synagogue church of nations.Same government that wasted no time in destroying a monumental landmark like the landmark center.
Why has the so called " overriding public interest theory " not applied with the synagogue church?
We know exactly what the government in Lagos n Abuja is doing, they chose to apply the law to victimize its enemies n ignore same laws to Favour their friends…..

Yesterday, musa camp was demolished. Today would be the turn of 74 junction. People were packing properties overnight. I felt pity for them. The worse of all would be happening to a man call Baba Niel. He built his house years ago,and last month he completed his hotel. All would be demolished, His wife has been crying. Everyone in 74 junction has been moody as if someone died. Hausa boys have been lurking around to scavenge irons. May God give them all the fortitude to bear their loss.

Musa camp belongs to the university but people chose to buy it even when it is crystal clear that the land is owned by the university.
Asaba indigenes are very fond of selling government owned land to, especially people from Onitsha.

Good. The Lagos situation shows us that overlooking liberty-taking in the name of, "going easy on the people because life is difficult and we are 3rd world", only leads to the same people becoming entitled.

A stick in time saves nine planking in future.
