I am member of CeC and I laugh at the charity they do. It is not funded by the church from tithe and offering but specifically paid for by members through partnerships. So after paying tithe, offering and sowing seeds, pastors insist on partnerships from members, which are supposedly used for different forms of charity. So strictly speaking, whatever good is done by the church is funded through giving by members specifically for that purpose.

Two questions arise from this:

What does the church do with the offerings, seeds and tithes it collects?

Secondly, why doesn't the church give account of the money it collects in forms of partnership?

Thank you so much for this post. Your analysis of what ROR stands for with the scam behind it is brilliant.

I did some research some years back about the fraud that goes on in Nigerian Churches and CEC was the biggest culprit. But some of their followers are die-hards either because they are foolish or just perverted folks, nothing you say about the scam will sink into their skulls, but ride on other people need to learn the truth.

you lie! a friend of mine, who is a cell leader, has been trying to get me to purchase one of the ROR books in his possesion. when Ii asked him why he wasn't charitable enough to give it to me free, he told me that he buys them from the church and sells them to whoever is willing to buy. Ii dunno how things work in that church but sure know ROR isn't distributed free by the church (except on the first of october)

I agree with all you said except the part on tithes. God did not ask us to pay tithes/offerings, if you think otherwise pls show it to me in the new testament cos we dont live in the old testament.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become (2Cor. 5:17).
We live under grace, not under the law or the old way of living. If u wanna live in the old testament then you shld also be making animal sacrifices to God as offered by Abraham, Noah, Solomon, etc.

Jesus said if you are a true follower of Him then u must suffer the things he suffered cos no servant is greater than his master. Jesus was called all sorts of names by the people of that time. They even accused Him of using the power of Baal to perform miracles.
Any pastor who is not being persecuted by being called names is not a true pastor.

It's easy to reference Jesus when it suites you, but when it comes to Jesus teachings on “riches and eye of a needle”, every church conveniently disregard this teaching. Jesus ministry was not about prosperity as broadly the case these days. Again, Jesus clearly instructed against calling any man your spiritual Father or Daddy, yet most pastors (fake or real) are referred to as Daddies. Jesus asked us not to judge, yet most of you judge by calling people you don't know "men of God". Who told you they are “men of God”? Is it because, they claim to be pastors and own churches?

Please, let Jesus exemplary humble lifestyle be our standard and guide in all things and at all times.

Often times you find people who allow their good character to be corrupted or negatively influenced by the bad behaviour or ill treatment they receive from others. For instance, someone could decide to stop greeting a neighbour or a colleague, because each time he greets that neighbour or colleague, he or she doesn’t answer. To make such a decision would mean that you’re allowing someone’s bad behaviour change your good character. Never allow that to happen to you.

That a friend or an acquaintance took undue advantage of your good behaviour is no justification for you to change for the worse. Maintain your good character. Keep on being the nice, loving and caring one; it will pay off. The question to ask before making a decision to change your good behaviour should be: “Was it right for me to do what I did?” If it was right, then you shouldn’t change it because someone else doesn’t like it.

Don’t be moved by the negative actions, comments or ill-treatments from others. Rather, respond in love to those who hurt or despitefully use you. If you act this way, you’ll be protecting your own spirit and at the same time promoting love, harmony and unity. Make the quality choice not to allow someone’s bad behaviour change your good character.

Really eye-opening. i have always wished the church would come out of the closet and become visible. I particularly believe that most Nigerian christians are no different from BH. the only difference is that our papa, GO or pastors have not told us to jump into the lagoon or kill somebody. if or when they do you would be amazed how many would jump without thinking. Follow JESUS people. and look at things objectively. Ps Chris has blessed me with his teachings and meetings and i have encountered many. but i looked at the thread and see things may need clarity. THE BEST OF MEN ARE AT THEIR VERY BEST STILL MEN. THATS WHY THEY ARE CALLED MEN OF GOD AND NOT GOD OF GOD. they need our prayers but we must all be like the berean church and check ALL THINGS with the Church. For your information Loveworld run an International satellite TV and sponsor so many radio and TV program and other philantopic work that cost money. Remember they also distribute Rapshody free for the whole of October. There is also church growth drive and other missionary work all over the world all these cost money.

I don't think whether people pay for it should be the issue at all. Unless, there is mismanagement or embezzlement of church funds.
Cos it's simple, the church prints RORs, Spending money in the process; if particular church members then want to make it free for everyone, and they can pay for it, i don't see a crime.
