coogar:Go 'gung-ho' and get ripped apart on the counter! Do not throw caution to the wind! we beat them 4-3 at old trafford in 2003 with fat ronaldo, figo, raul, roberto carlos, etc. After you had been rapéd in Castile The same way Chelsea bamboozled Bayansh Munschit at the Bridge only for FC FollyHood to record a worthless 3 - 2 win back at the Olympic Stadium in 2005. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 2:17pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
nitlad: united are better at counter attack than real madrid! united have a better defence than madrid. the only strength they have over united is their midfield. we saw how they were reduced to taking shots from a distancein the first leg when they lacked the craft to break united's defence down.
they were beaten at old trafford and they would be beaten again tomorrow! |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitlad: 2:51pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
coogar:That's definitely a first! united have a better defence than madrid.Unproven and unsubstantiated! We've all seen how defensive Madrid can get from their Clasico square-ups against Barca! the only strength they have over united is their midfield. we saw how they were reduced to taking shots from a distancein the first leg when they lacked the craft to break united's defence down. You gon' be needing more of the same probably more, if you are to keep them at bay! They are fired up and brimming with much more confidence - emerging from a brace of Clasicos with victories! Also their better players got much needed rest at the weekend. Advantage Real! they were beaten at old trafford and they would be beaten again tomorrow! That was an insignificant win! Tomorrow is a different ball game entirely! |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 3:14pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
nitlad: That's definitely a first! united invented attacking football - this is why fergie always uses mobile wing backs and wingers.
barcelona that try to walk the ball ino the net? shyte at set piece, shyte at working the ball from the flanks. barca essentially play one way. one-two passes through the middle. it's easy to defend against that. welbeck räped ramos in an aerial battle - imagine what hernandez, vidic, rooney and evra would do to madrid's defence.
we would outscore madrid if we get at them. sitting back against them makes them appear better than they look. they were taken apart in the 2nd half of that first leg. van persie's 3 gilt-edge chances and evra's counter that should have had their defender sent off.
fergie's team would tell me how we would play. all i know is if united get at any team in europe, the team would get destroyed! |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitlad: 4:29pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
coogar:Yet another first! Your fullbacks are gonna have a handful with CR7, Di Maria and Ozil taking turns against them. And on evidence of the first leg, where even Rooney was more or less a fullback it's safe to say your wingers are not gonna much joy either! barcelona that try to walk the ball ino the net? shyte at set piece, shyte at working the ball from the flanks. barca essentially play one way. one-two passes through the middle. it's easy to defend against that.As one-way as it is, you still need at least %70 of your footballing prowess/knowledge and energy on the day stop it. Keeping them at bay is no mean feat! welbeck räped ramos in an aerial battle - imagine what hernandez, vidic, rooney and evra would do to madrid's defence.Throw Pepe in there as is expected tomorrow, and watch Welbeck drift and drift into oblivion! Rooney was anonymous in the first leg, chances are he'd have yet another nightmarish outing tomorrow. we would outscore madrid if we get at them. sitting back against them makes them appear better than they look. they were taken apart in the 2nd half of that first leg. van persie's 3 gilt-edge chances and evra's counter that should have had their defender sent off.Pepe would be back! You can begin to rue those missed chances now, cos you would not have as much joy tomorrow! Going 'hung-ho' against them is suicidal - your best chance of progression lies in the first leg set-up/dvd! fergie's team would tell me how we would play. all i know is if united get at any team in europe, the team would get destroyed! You got at Bayern in 2010 to no avail! Barca has been consistently bringing you down to earth while trying to get at them. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 4:52pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
nitlad: Yet another first! ozil and di maria are overrated - they disappeared like fart in the 2nd half! that's fergie's tactics. rooney played as a winger thus limiting his prowess!
very easy to stop! we have watched chelsea, inter and even celtic do that successfully!
pepe? rooney would eat pepe alive? this is not la liga where his antics are quickly swept under the carpet. if he makes any infringement, he would be off quicker than you spell his name. khedira is actually a better player than pepe. if pepe plays tomorrow - advantage united. united's nimble feet players would get pepe an early bath!
united went gung-ho against them at the bernebau in the 2nd half - united created the best chances on the night. with a bit more composure, united could have easily beaten madrid 3-1.
rafael da silva got a red card.....until he left, united were leading comfortably with 3 goals to 1. bayern were under the cosh with valencia and nani running riots in their defence. bayern won the first also so they are in a better position than madrid are. united are also stronger now than then. van persie, rooney and hernandez - no attack is better in europe! the 2 finals united have played barcelona, they went gung-ho and lost. in the semi final of 2008, etoo, henry and messi failed to score a goal in 180 mins. united through carlos queiroz wrote the template on how to beat barcelona - it's a shame fergie took that template away because of his belief in attacking football. barcelona are very easy to curtail! |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitlad: 5:51pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
coogar:Ozil and Di Maria are world class in their positions! They were not as influential because you parked the bus! The few times Rooney forayed forward, he was clueless! very easy to stop! we have watched chelsea, inter and even celtic do that successfully!I'm sure those teams would not run outta adjectives to describe how herculean a task it is/was to stop Barca successfully. pepe? rooney would eat pepe alive? this is not la liga where his antics are quickly swept under the carpet. if he makes any infringement, he would be off quicker than you spell his name. khedira is actually a better player than pepe. if pepe plays tomorrow - advantage united. united's nimble feet players would get pepe an early bath!Rooney couldn't even best Coentrao, arguably the weakest player in Madrid's defence. The only player that can get one over Pepe is the intelligent Hernandez, who might not even be involved until it's too late! united went gung-ho against them at the bernebau in the 2nd half - united created the best chances on the night. with a bit more composure, united could have easily beaten madrid 3-1.Pepe rafael da silva got a red card.....until he left, united were leading comfortably with 3 goals to 1. bayern were under the cosh with valencia and nani running riots in their defence. bayern won the first also so they are in a better position than madrid are. united are also stronger now than then. van persie, rooney and hernandez - no attack is better in europe!Robben and Ribery were going bonkers as well. At no stage over the two legs were Bayern overriden by Manure. It was fire for fire, and they came out tops! The red card excuse is by the way! Fact remains you went 'hung-ho' with Bayansh, and you got your throat slit! the 2 finals united have played barcelona, they went gung-ho and lost. in the semi final of 2008, etoo, henry and messi failed to score a goal in 180 mins. united through carlos queiroz wrote the template on how to beat barcelona - it's a shame fergie took that template away because of his belief in attacking football. barcelona are very easy to curtail! This is a tacit admission that if you go 'hung-ho' against certain teams, you get dis-emboweled! |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 6:30pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
nitlad: in the second half when united gave it a go, they were nowhere to be seen!
rooney is not a winger - he's not even played there to cause amok but to protect rafael from the way ronaldo, ozil and di maria like to overload an opposing fullback. rooney has beaten better defenders than coentrao. madrid were shitting their pants before the game - they called rooney a demon. they were that scared of him!
rooney would destroy pepe!
rafael put ribery in the back pocket all through the game. robben was also shackled until the numerical advantage that went bayern's way. it was nani and valencia that carried the day.
madrid is not one of those teams - they cannot pass the ball and they rely on counter-attacks to score goals. united don't play high-line and i fail to see how madrid can counter against this united side. their chances of scoring are from ronaldo's freekicks or a deflected shot from outside the box. they lack the trickery to break down the new improved united defence. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by dayokanu(m): 6:40pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
For 4 halves that was played vs Bayern. Man Utd were on the cosh for 3 halves. it was in the first 30mins at Old trafford that they were threatening after that Bayern basically coasted home to an easy victory Man Utd na our boy anyday. Please beat Madrid so we can play you again. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 6:46pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
dayokanu: For 4 halves that was played vs Bayern. nani's 2nd goal was in the 41st minute......until then, bayern hadn't ventured into the united half let alone dominate. so how did you come up with dominance for only 30 mins? yet, you claim you are the european football expert! |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by dayokanu(m): 6:52pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
coogar: At the time Nani scored Bayern was already gaining the upper hand. Van Der Saar just made a save and the dominance showed when olic rapped Carrick for the goal in the 44th mins. After then it was all Bayern. Go and watch the game again, I have it recorded and can give you a minute by minute blow |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 7:13pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
dayokanu: there was no bayern dominance until nani's goal - something beckenbauer even confirmed after the game. the olic missed chance and the goal were completely against the run of play. rafael had just missed a chance when he ran with the ball through your midfield for 70 yards before missing narrowly!
then you must have amnesia if you have the match recorded and then claim united only dominated for 30 mins. the turning point in the game was rafael's 2nd yellow card! without that, bayern were being shredded into tatters! |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitlad: 7:14pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
coogar:You did not give it a go until the last 15 mins or thereabout. rooney is not a winger - he's not even played there to cause amok but to protect rafael from the way ronaldo, ozil and di maria like to overload an opposing fullback. rooney has beaten better defenders than coentrao. madrid were shitting their pants before the game - they called rooney a demon. they were that scared of him!It would be outrightly dis-respectful for the Madrid Camp to be yapping about how easily they'd tame Rooney nah rooney would destroy pepe!Pepe would own Rooney! rafael put ribery in the back pocket all through the game. robben was also shackled until the numerical advantage that went bayern's way. it was nani and valencia that carried the day.Perhaps we watched different games. The match I watched, Ribery consistently gave Rafael the demons before he eventually succumbed to the immense physical and mental torture by giving away a criminally unforgivable foul! Likewise, Robben embarked on numerous of his tredemark runs unchecked before he topped it with that unstoppable drive! madrid is not one of those teams - they cannot pass the ball and they rely on counter-attacks to score goals. united don't play high-line and i fail to see how madrid can counter against this united side. their chances of scoring are from ronaldo's freekicks or a deflected shot from outside the box. they lack the trickery to break down the new improved united defence. You said United would destroy any team should you go 'gung-ho'. In Ozil and Alonso, they have great passers of the ball. In Ronaldo and Di Maria, they have outworldly movers of the ball, who can also deliver exquisite crosses. They are multi-dimentional in play! Block the road to counters (an impossible task, given that you'd rather go 'gung-ho') and get bombarded with a barrage of crosses! You can also be picked apart by an Alonso or Ozil through ball! |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by dayokanu(m): 7:20pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
Late in the first half, VDS had saved off Olics feet, a few minutes later, Olic brutally rappped Carrick and scored, Few minutes later Robben had a fierce drive saved by VDS. All those were in the first half. Dont worry just try beat Madrid and hope to meet us. Its a reunification with our eternal biittches Manchester Uniteed |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 7:24pm On Mar 04, 2013 |
nitlad: You did not give it a go until the last 15 mins or thereabout. last 15 mins? when did evra break before being pulled down and that useless referee bricked it instead of sending the defender off.
you don't shackle rooney - if he plays upfront, madrid would worry more about defending than attacking.
ribery was non-existent - he was in rafael's pocket. he kept diving and moaning during the game too and got rafael an undeserved yellow in the first half. then rafael held him then ribery stopped running when he could have continued just to make sure his nemesis saw red!
any team - this united side is different now unlike when rooney was the only genuine threat. now you have van persie who can also play the false 9. with 2 false 9s on the pitch, defenders are in for a nightmare. the current squad would destroy any team in europe as we speak!
hahaha - if they were this good they wouldn't be lying some 13 points below barcelona. la liga is weak. apart from barcelona, madrid can do as they please against the other teams and cop results. this is the 12th consecutive season without a champions league final! how good are madrid in the continent?
vidic-rio-evans-smalling plus rafael/evra protecting the flanks. add angel michael to the mix with his intelligence and madrid are clueless. i can't wait for tomorrow - talk is cheap! i just hope fergie don't give giggs a start tomorrow. carrick + cleverley + anderson and madrid would die! |

I think we will see the same starting line up tonight as at the Bernabeu with possibly Nani/Valencia coming in for Welbeck and Tom C for Jones if he hasn't recovered enough (if he does he will at the least start). |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by MrTA(m): 11:06am On Mar 05, 2013 |
Jones injury has forced a rethink. I'm guessing Welbeck will start because he had a good first leg v Madrid. So I think it'll be Welbeck, rvp,Rooney up top. Midfield seems like Carrick,Cleverley and Valencia will be the middle 3. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Kagawa for Welbeck. I'm guessing Vidic comes in for Evans? Or even giggs for Cleverley won't surprise me. Think I've got a better chance of getting the lotto numbers than guessing SAF's 11. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 12:25pm On Mar 05, 2013 |
i hope i don't see giggs and valencia in the line up...... this is nani's show. cleverley, anderson and carrick to play in a 3-man midfield. |

Midfield seems like Carrick,Cleverley and Valencia will be the middle 3. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Kagawa for Welbeck. I'm guessing Vidic comes in for Evans? I hope and pray Fergie does not start Giggs tonight because that would really get me upset and resign to fate. He somehow seems to also believe in Valencia cause of the knack for wing play. I would like a formation of 4-2-3-1 DDG in goal with back four of Rafael,Vidic,Rio and Evra although Evans has a good case as per the first leg. Cleverly and Carrick in front of the back four, the Nani on the right, Rooney and young/kagawa on the left with VPersie upfront. Like u said no one can predict Fergie these days, its a waste of time. |

Chesty as peacocks, Blusterous as the winds of Patagonia They thought themselves immortals, Clad in all-white, make-believe angels, Across Europe they gadded, The expensively assembled Spanish Armada, Galacticos they called themselves, superior, special Infallible, impenetrable... But the Red Army would not be cowed And so they stood in their path, Solid as any known albatross, Their defiant roar carrying across the skies, Running the breath of the Thames to The Almudena's tip. In this modest Boroughs of Greater Manchester, At the feet of a humble Theatre, Where dreams, passion and belief reside, The Galacticos met their waterloo. 1 Like |

No Rooney? Fergie has started. Bollocks |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 7:55pm On Mar 05, 2013 |
Mr_TA: Early rumours suggest that's the official team - alex ferguson is an idïot..... this is the reason i want this giggs out of old trafford - the sentiments surrounding his career have killed us twice against barcelona - and it would probably kill us again today. with no jones in the team, fergie opted for giggs! what energy has giggs got to chase after madrid's henchmen? we have rooney, kagawa, young, anderson, hernandez, valencia on the bench but we can only make 3 changes. even if we end up winning this game, it's because madrid are shyte.......this is the wrong team! |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by niniman(m): 7:59pm On Mar 05, 2013 |
Giggs starts, Rooney on bench, Sir Alex is mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Starting lineup Man Utd: De Gea, Da Silva, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Nani, Welbeck, Giggs, van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Valencia, Rooney, Hernandez, Young, Kagawa. Real Madrid: Diego Lopez, Arbeloa, Varane, Sergio Ramos, Fabio Coentrao, Khedira, Alonso, Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo, Higuain. Subs: Adan, Pepe, Kaka, Benzema, Albiol, Modric, Callejon |
