Although I'm a bit disappointed, but 14.37% for 364 days is still better than leaving my money in my savings account for a measly rate.

Dont wait...N30k is enough to start earning better rates than 91day TBills...consider investing in a Money Market Mutual Fund instead. It has its own Nairaland thread: https://www.nairaland.com/1912965/mutual-funds/142#76181881. And you can see the daily rates made here: https://fman.com.ng/mutual-fund-price-list/.

MMFs accept as low as N5k. So, if you are not taking Oga ahiboilandgas's advice to start a business you know, then consider MMFs.

MMFs pool funds from many many people and invest your money in low risk financial instruments; a combination of Treasury Bills, Fixed Deposits etc.

PS: there are other types of Mutual Funds, so if you do not want to take significant risk with your initial capital, look out for Money Market Mutual Funds.

Good morning gurus
Pls ma t-bills investment will mature on March 14th, but d next primary auction after 2moro will b on d 13th.
ma question is, can I invest in d primary auction on March 13th wen ma last t-bills investment will mature on March 14th ??
If yes,
How do I go about it ? Tanx.
Oga Gavrelino123 suggests this is possible with GTB in a post regarding the last 13 Feb primary auction: https://www.nairaland.com/878880/treasury-bills-nigeria/696#75732560

I suspected such would happen, reason why i locked down @ 14.75% through gtb secondary market last week.

Some banks may not make it through especially those of them used to bidding close to stop rate
of 15%

Like someone already said, it's far better than keeping money in your savings account.

Good morning to all the professionals here, I have read and read many things on the thread but I still don't get it clear on how to start all this investment stuff you guys re doing.
Please I want someone to hold my hand and start teaching me...
My salary range is 30k per month and I don't know if that can start up something.....if yes please I need someone to mentor me on it..thanks

I think you should open a mutual fund account (money market fund precisely) to enable you save up to the required minimun for treasury bills.

There is a thread for mutual funds here, you may check it up.
You can start with as little as 5k and add as many times as possible. You can also choose to reinvest the interest to achieve your saving goals a bit faster.

Hope this helps

Sure about these rates? Nice then

There is no particular format for the letter. You may just address the letter to the branch manager asking to invest in T-bills for you in so & so day primary or secondary auction, for so & so number of days, at the bank's best rate, from account number so and so, your name, signature & date. You are good to go

Haha if they offer such ridiculous rate it will spark a protest, i am expecting 14.7 minimum, i almost wrote 14.9 but decided to go with their ballot box rate.

This thread has been very informative so far and i’m proud of all its contributors.

I had an interest rate of 13.5% today on 182days from Stanbic Ibtc bank, I was able to key in 4m on it. This is my first time investing on tbills, thanks to this thread.

while we are talking about Politics....Some FPIs sneaked into Naija and invested heavily in our Treasury Bills and Bonds last week.

I expect the yields to keep dropping as the elections approach and after elections.

The time to move in is NOW!
Thanks for this priceless information. You are a selfless being. God bless you.

Morning y'all. When can one expect debit alerts for successful bids?
Another question that bugs me:_supposing I write a letttr seeking to invest in TBills and for some reason the bid was unsuccessful.. Would I have to write another letter for the next auction or the bank would take my original letter as standing instruction to invest in subsequent auctions without a recourse to me?
