very well said but do we really need the office of the precisency to issue such directive not to talk of setting up a panel to look into it. Why do the have VC, Den of Deans, Dean of faculties, HOD's, etc? True, there is corruption but not everyone is completely corrupt.
I remembered very well that in Ife there is always a verification process done during and admission process and in 300L anyone caught will not even be called upon to defend his case!

What abt if those mentioned are also corrupt...no be UniAbuja?
Hmmm!

The point is, once just d VC is
corrupt, then the system is
already messed up!

Fact is i like your comments and the way you've channel it but my Big question is will this bring an end to the so-called "Unqualified" student from gaining admission bact into the same school? Why do we address the cause? If the NASU are so under-paid that they turned their office to beggers/runs spot, increase their pay/allowance and if not Sack them and have their names printed, release a memo to all faculties, Colleges even hall of residence stating reasons why the above named staffs are sacked, i bet it with you no one will attempt admitting "Unqualified" student @least for the time being!

On point.
But no just NASU.
after thorough investigation,
anyone involved shld face

There is no indication whatsoever to show that this issue is on the "top" priority list of Mr. President. It might be trivial, yet that issue of University of Abuja is an embarrassment to the Federal Govt which incidentally is also in Abuja. It rather shows that the man is down to earth.

If you believe that this goverment and her security agencies are not doing something about Boko haram, then you definitely believe that since 11th September, 2001 when Osama bombed the US, that the Us governments never did anything about Osama/Alqaeda until he was recently killed.

Also, Boko haram is not trying to seize the country from Mr. President because the country is not his personal property. We all know what has been happening in Nigeria since it was invented by Lord Luggard, blaming Jonathan for the crimes against humanity committed by the Jihardists is pure irresponsibility. The butchery industry of Northern Nigeria did not start with Jonathan and will not stop with him. Mohammed the founder of Islam butchered, Usman Dan Fodio the father of Islam in Nigeria butchered, and the story continues. That is why some of us want us to come together and renegotiate Nigeria.

As for my "ignorant and thoughtless", I sincerely apologize.
Cheers.

Nigeria is the way it is because of GEJ and his predecessors. As embarrassing as Nigeria's educational system may be, GEJ needs to wake the hell up and realise that he's governing Nigeria, not the United States. Even President Obama faces criticism for educational reform because people want him focusing on the economy. Nigeria's biggest problems are Boko Haram, corruption, and lack of steady electricity. Corruption isn't in government alone. You're right about corruption in the educational sector, but this isn't the way forward. Not yet. Why has GEJ been putting efforts towards education as of late? Wasn't it last week or so that he told professors to produce good students? He went to Germany and asked the western world to help Nigeria fight Boko Haram, then he came home and has been focusing on the educational sector. Maybe he has forgotten that Boko Haram is plotting major destruction in June. GEJ can't produce good governance, he wasn't a qualified student and he isn't a qualified president. Don't let him deceive you. As he's ordering expulsion of unqualified Uni Abuja students, you're still paying high prices for fuel, GEJ is still eating expensive meals, Boko Haram is still plotting against Nigeria, and someone's light may go any minute from now.

And if nothing is done abt
this sector, we will still complain, ''whats that
fool doing that he can't

sector''.

No matter how and what, we are always complaining and always!

ogugua88:

I'm very capable of forming my opinion. I'm not siding with anyone. Just as you said, it does not fit me.

Do you know the meaning of democracy? "Rule of the people". Are people ruling? Which Nigerian is happy with the "progress" GEJ is making? There's absolutely no ruling by people in Nigeria as PDP has turned government into a democratic dictatorship. They fool Nigerians with elections but groom who rules next so as to maximize their benefits.

What makes GEJ unqualified? Well, where do I start? He studied zoology and hydrobiology. He has climbed up the political ladder by luck, excluding his initial election as Deputy Governor of Bayelsa. He was promoted to governor after the prior governor was found guilty of corruption charges. Then, he was selected as VP by Yar'Adua. Then he assumed presidency after Yar'Adua's death. Then, he made Nigerians empty promises and won last year's free and fair elections.

As president, what has he done? Look at the airports he bragged about less than two years ago. He called them functional. The last time I was in Murtala Muhammed Airport, the conveyor belt broke, so men were bringing luggage to the arrivals terminal by hand. Our biggest airport is rundown and nothing to be proud of. I don't even think we can land planes at night in Delta and Enugu. If we can, someone tell me.

Shortly, after the Easter bombings, GEJ went to the north where 400 Almajiri schools were being opened. If GEJ had any clue as to what's in the Nigerian constitution, he would have known he was in violation for promoting a religion, and getting into educational affairs. Why should GEJ be using federal funds on Quranic schools? And, this question goes for the Almajiri schools and the expulsion of Uni of Abuja students, why isn't the ministry of education dealing with these issues?
I beg of GEJ or any member in the current government to tell us what's in the constitution to which they are supposed to abide. Hell, I wish for any of them to give us a detailed outline of what they're supposed to be doing in their positions. For a whole president to ordering expulsion of students in a university, it's beyond appalling.

You should go back and read the achievements for 2011 that he posted on his Facebook and tell me if any of the "achievements" he listed are any of your primary concerns. In an insecure and corrupted nation with rising fuel prices/no light, the average Nigerian could careless about the country's credit rating and his launching of Youth Enterprise Innovation giniwa. If that doesn't tell you the man is clueless, then I don't know what does.

Being president does not make him above-human. If that was the case, then he wouldn't be erring as frequently as he does. Such a man is not even worthy of my respect. GEJ has a flimsy excuse for everything. Maybe you've forgotten when he was pushing for tenure elongation because his cabinet members wouldn't have enough time to assimilate to their new posts. Rather than chase Boko Haram, we were told he would catch perpetrators and bring them to book. As BH's attacks intensified, he told Nigerians to pray and everything will pass. Or maybe when he was interviewed by Aisha Ceesay. She asked him about corruption and he said that 90% of the corruption in Nigeria is committed by non-Nigerians.
Are those acts/qualities of a leader? He should take a look at the people around him before he starts making orders of expulsion of unqualified students. VP Sambo has a BH sponsor as a close friend, who assisted Sambo with his own political aspirations. His wife, English butcher, is the former Minister of Education to Bayelsa State and served as a professor. And he's ordering for the expulsion of the unqualified? I guess you don't see the irony.

Now you must give me reasons as to how he's qualified and why he deserves our respect when he and his cronies habitually slap Nigerians in the face and treat us like we're idiots.

Almajiris are Nigerians also.
Which qualifies them as shareholders in the
''National cake''!

The Lord is Good, All the Time.

Where there is no vision the people perish. Prov. 29:18.

Today The Lord has raised back the Spirit of Ahitophel in visionary and counselling matters among Nigerians but not as in his former wickedness.

The Christian Scriptures Notes in 2Samuel 16:23 that ConsultingAhitophel's Counsel was like consulting the Oracle of God.

Among Nigerians today you have the Grace of seeing this powerful gift of God again.

Have mercy unto yourself and take God's counsel from the lips of his chosen servant concerning your present endevors and sprisitual state or relationship with God again.

This piece of information was not supposed to be made public if not that the Lord sanctioned it for the benefit of many.

Act fast while you still have the Grace.

And if there is appropriate authority please where were they when unqualified students were entering into the university?. I thing people should go and read the constitution well to check the criteria for qualifying to be the president of Nigeria. If anybody wants to get closer to the government then it starts from the local, state and then the federal. So people should focus more on their local government please and they should tell us how they are checking their local government.

How is goodluck the problem of the whole Nigeria or is he the only leader we have?, Goodluck this and Goodluck that. I am sure people don't know that the local government is responsible for electricity in the western climes and so many other things. We can only just blame our problems mostly on the central process of management we have in Nigeria. Stand up tomorrow to change it and you will see the opposition because of selfish interests. I doubt if some people even know the chairman of their local government or councilor representing their world. Na to blab about the president and PDP, always looking for blame without using this opportunity to suggest or provide solution to the appropriate authority.

GEJ has offended most of us, but i know that holding an office is not easy let alone a high one as President. I let must let you that GEJ is a man with conscience, cos in climes like the US, Israel etc if the government identifies that a particular set of people are the trouble-makers and sponsors of terror and they may not be easily proven in court or that taking them to court may give them some form of undue popularity. They will just send their secret security to eliminate them anyhow. So please, show him or better still his office some respect.

This shows that you're as dumb as Jonadumb. Ignorant but yet arrogant. Where did you learn that Dan Fodio is the father of Islam in Nigeria? Tell me when did they butchered your father? Here you are arguing with whom you called children but yet you can't make your point to conviance them. Please defend your incompetent president if you can. If you have anything against islam go to the religion section and post or start a new thread on that. Ignoramus.

The phrase "father of Islam" that I ascribed to Dan Fodio is a figure of speech. He it was that conquered almost the whole of the North with the sword in the name of Allah, except if you want to rewrite history.

As for having anything against Islam, Boko Haram is not just politics: Boko Haram is Islam as well as politics. In Islam, politics is not separated from Religion. I know that in certain quarters, what made Jonathan "dumb" is not his performance but rather who he is. An infidel must be resisted at all cost including bombings.
Else where, I have stated that if Buhari (or any other of "Allah's messengers" like Atiku) had won this election, corpers would not had been butchered either in the North or the South. Boko Haram will not be bombing Nigeria not because they won't have capacity, but because the person in charge is one of their own. And adding to that, Nigeri Delta will still be boiling, the oil war will still be fierce.

Emm, can't you just express yourself without name calling? It is just so funny.

Thanks to GEJ for ordering unqualified students fished out of UniAbuja. UniAbuja has been in the news for quite a while now, especially since the present VC Prof Adedibo came on board. Students are admitted through the backyard, on payment of huge sums of money and other gratifications. Check, the last three PUME results were never published and students were admitted through God knows how. Apart from flushing out unqualified students, the VC activities over the years should be investigated, and lecturers in the universities should submit their qualifications for verification and scrutiny. Inshort sanitise and disinfect the stinking situation in Uniabuja quickly.

Claumy2: The most unfortunate thing happening to Nigeria education sector is the rate at which private secondary schools are been approved by the government. Most of them (in Abia State) hardly have qualified teachers, class rooms, laboratories, library just to mention a few, except for carrying out gross exam mal-practice during WAEC and NECO EXAMINATIONS. I pity the future generation. The fact remains that about 80% of the students in our tertiary institutions are 'NOT' qualified.

It was during Abacha and Mamam Kantangora was appointed as sole administrator of ABU.

some of corper mates who graduated from ABU, was recalled from their locations to be informed that they were never students of ABU let alone Youth Corpers.

Admission racket was going on (and it is still going on). Students who did not get the required minimum credits end up getting admitted. This is part of the problem, our admin officers and lecturers are so corrupt that Unqualified candidates are admitted. Such students are easy recruits to cultism and all manner of junks we find in our schools today.

I think Mr. President wants to get us back on track. I commend him for this and I wish him and his team well. may they succeed in their dream to get Nigeria back on track.

As for most comments, I have concluded that most of nairaland users are just kids. If not in age, then kids in their mind. I have stated it loud and clear that corruption is not only at the seat of governments. Thank you My brother!!! Indeed it's a very big shame to have people respond to issues with such naivety worse than that of a kid here in this forum. It's really woeful and disgraceful. It makes me really want to puke!!!!!!
