drakeskull:. The squeaky sound is it factory fault or lack of good maintenance. The ground clearance of the car hope it's not too low? |
Re: BMW Owners' Forum by drakeskull(m): 3:25pm On Feb 13, 2021 |
candyguyofficia: For ground clearance, it depends on the tire size. What I mean by squeaky sound is E90 major replacement parts is suspension. You need good roads else you would be changing upper and lower arms, linkage frequently. If you're able to source for genuine parts then no problem |

Hello fellow bima lovers..... I would be sharing with you my experience on my BMW E90 328XI SULEV. Sometime last week i got a notification on my idrive system warning me that my fuel pump pressure was low and my engine automatically shut down. I tried starting the car, but it would only be rolling but won't start. After about 30mins, it started and i was able to manage it back home. The next day it repeated the same issue but this time it refused to start. I had to push the car to the nearest mechanic workshop. The next day i called my parts dealer at ladipo to send the fuel pump for my car, i was told they had three types and i then decided to send him the picture of my fuel pump. It turned out my car was SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle). The fuel pump(Tokunbo) cost 25k. They brought the fuel pump but it still repeated the same issue. The mechanic then asked i changed it and bring another one which i did the next day but still got the same result. I was getting depressed when they said i should buy a brand new one which costs about 90k. I decided to do my own research via Youtube videos and google, i discovered the issue was the fuel injector relay or fuel pump relay. I immediately requested for one at ladipo but the one they sent was not the same as the one in my car. It fits but the car rpm won't raise and the idrive wrote engine power low/ malfunction. I then sent a sample of my own relay which i eventually got for 2k. Immediately i put the relay, everything came back to normal and the case closed. My fellow bima lovers learn to do your personal research on your car before naija mechanic would turn it to kabu kabu. 1st pic: fuel pump 2nd pic: fuel pump relay. 11 Likes 2 Shares

amSTARboy:Best way to go. As the saying goes: MAKE GOOGLE YOUR FRIEND! Many of our mechanics don't even make attempts to do research in areas they often face challenges. They are mostly responsible for the erroneous impression people have about certain brands. Descriptions like "expensive to maintain", "problematic", "too consume fuel" or "electrical wahala" are often used to express their technical inadequacies. I am glad many Nigerians are doing their own research before and even after taking their cars to the workshops. Imagine the difference between 90k and 2k in this Naija time and season! Not even considering the parts/components they will dismatle and not assemble properly. 7 Likes 1 Share |

jcflex:Any work on that engine which involves radiator/coolant/hoses/thermostat must be concluded with a proper bleeding process to ensure air bubbles are expelled from the system. Tell ur mechanic to do the bleeding. If he isn't a Bimmer tech , please opt for a diff mechanic. You can also get literatures from google, videos on youtube. This will help: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/BMW-E60/23-WATER-Draining_Filling_Cooling_System/23-WATER-Draining_Filling_Cooling_System.htm |

jcflex: Before you replace your engine, ensure you check your water pump fuse, get a powerful battery to enable you do proper bleeding of the radiator takes about 10 - 12 mins. Best of luck 1 Like 1 Share |

Zeroid105:. He is a bimmer tech, he does hammer on it, to bleed very well and ensure no air bubble before closing the water reservoir and connect the return hose |
Re: BMW Owners' Forum by jcflex(m): 4:58pm On Feb 15, 2021 |
amSTARboy:This guy has bleed twice or thrice in my present, during that process the engine is off, what exactly do we need the battery for. my car use 100ahm battery, which is still relatively new (not up to 3months) |
Re: BMW Owners' Forum by driving: 5:35pm On Feb 15, 2021 |
jcflex: Yes, that's what they say. Engine won't last blah bah. Then he will sell your "bad" engine back to Ladipo where it will be rebuilt and sell as Tokunbo engine. 1 Like |

Re: BMW Owners' Forum by chukel(m): 2:51am On Feb 16, 2021 |
jcflex:how did he bleed it. Tgere is a procedure for bleeding the coolant syst3m automatically. The water pump does an auto bleeding by itself. 1. Top up the coolant reservoir and cover 2. Tighten the bleeder nipple 3. Turn on the ignition. Don't start. 4. Turn on the fan to the lowest. i.e 1. 5. Turn heater to the highest temperature. 7. Depress the accelerator for 12 secs. You will hear the water pump come on and cycle coolant. 8. Wait for 10 mins. The water pump would have cycled for about 10 times. 9. Turn off the ignition. Return fan and temperature to normal position 10. Open the coolant reservoir and top off. |

chukel: he does the bleeding manually. the water pump is a manual pump, will the process work Thank you. |

Daniboygeorge22:Says who? An overheating engine won't shutdown while running until it has been damaged, however if the engine is turned off while overheated, it won't start until the temperature has reduced. |
Re: BMW Owners' Forum by Daniboygeorge22: 2:53pm On Feb 16, 2021 |
alphaNomega:Once my car displays temperature warning light on the dash, it disables the accelerator by itself automatically, when you dont turn off engine and temp warning displays again the engine turns itself off and enables fan to run at max speed. Till car cools it wont start again, thats what i meant 1 Like |
