TRendlona: Aguero doesn't have any Champions league to his name, he was no where to be found in Argentina's road to the WC final and Copa America final. He has only showed up for Man City and maybe Atletico Madrid. Even Higuain try pass am for national level.
Kaka was a great player but he lacked longevity. I can't say he's overrated but he isn't even in the class of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Delima and co not to talk of Pele, Maradona and Messi.
Lampard was a great midfielder in his time there's no doubt about that. He won the Champions league, Europa cup, Premiership, FA cup etc but didn't show up at international level. He couldn't even make it to any semi final nor even third place.
Boateng has shown up in every aspect both club level and international level. He has won the World cup, Champions league, DFB pokal, Super cup etc He didn't just win it but he made great contributions to the victory. IMO, Boateng isn't an overrated defender. He showed up when it mattered . I'm still vexed at the way he and his co defenders stopped Messi during the WC final. The tin still dey pain me cos if not them, Messi would have had a WC to his name. When someone is asking me how a player can be good yet overrated is there any point arguing with such person? If I say Kanye West or Wizkid are overrated does it mean they are not good? Roland17: You are not wrong about your thoughts, and don't over think why you are underrating them because it is legitimate. I feel same way sometimes but their history and record during the post season buttress reasons why.
While they may seem talented, which truthfully they are, their style of play is quite predictable. the Raptors are a jump shooting team whose stars tend to fade whenever you power the bright lights. DeMar has improved his game this season, however, it is still primarily hinged on 18 feet jump shots. Lowry is very inconsistent, infact, he historically has been the weak link during playoff's.
Remember last season when he stayed back after every game to practice shooting because he could not make a bucket to save his life? They need to expand their game past DeMar and Lowry; Carrol is not an offensive threat, however, he is potent on defense, especially one on one perimeter defense. They have nothing solid on the bench to push the game when necessary.
The Cavs or any consistent interior styled team would defeat them in my opinion because of their predictability. So don't over think your choice to underrate the Raptors. Hmm. I thought this would be a down year for them tbh but I saw their games vs the Rockets and the Hawks. They are a damn good team I no go lie. While Lowry and DeRozan are the stars they have solid role players (Ross, Joseph, Patterson) I think they rely a little too much on the 3-ball but they are a very cohesive outfit and consistent. Lowry's defense remains underrated and that of the team entirely Who would you pick to beat them bar the Cavs in the East? |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 10:16pm On Dec 05, 2016 |
Donlittle: i have been saying if the cavs are going to get any real challenge in the east, it's from the raptors. They are probably one trade away from having the perfect matchup against the cavs.
They have played twice this year against cavs, they had the answers for cavs till about 1 minute to go in both games.
They just can't close the game against them, once they figure out how to do that, we have a series in the playoffs. I don't know who they trade for at this point. Because I feel they have chemistry. A trade could disrupt that. |

The yardstick you used (NT achievements) is the crux of the matter here....
If we are to ply that route, Kaka would be massively overrated! Kaka lacked longevity. When was Kaka's prime? I make bold to say he was Overrated. His CL win came in a year Milan didn't even win the league. They finished 4th FFS I think a lot of the hue and cry emanates from people not calming down to understand what the word 'overrated' even means. Nihilist: You are the one that does not understand the criteria you set.
Let us apply your own faulty logic to Messi and Argentina
1. Where are the trophies - Messi has none
2. They should be dominate teams in the same way as the Dream Team of 92.
Argentina at the worldcup struggled to get to the Finals via extra time and PKs. Lost in the final. Not a dominant performance
Argentina at Copa 15 struggled against teams they were favourites to beat. Got to finals via some PK games. Lost in the final to the bookies underdog. Not a dominant performance
Argentina at Copa 16 struggled against teams they were favourites to beat. Got to finals via some PK games. Lost in the final to the bookies underdog. Not a dominant performance
3. Any team that consistently fails must be overrated. Outliers or bad tournaments can be forgiven.
Argentina Failed at WC - Outlier that can be forgiven
Lost to Chile Copa 15. Underdogs who had beaten Argentina only 8 times in their history compared to Argentina's history of over 50 wins. Failure number 1
Lost to Chile Copa 16. Underdogs who had beaten Argentina only 9 times in their history compared to Argentina's history of over 50 wins. Failure number 2. This also consecutive.
A40 by your faulty logic Messi is overrated. QED. Naah you are just not understanding shyte. Period 1. Where are their Titles? A rhetorical question and that was all. I'm not responsible for your horrendous Bramblesque interpretation of this 2. Any analyst worth their salt knows Argentina was a very top heavy team that lacked balance. Let's compare rosters shall we: Rojo, Zabaleta, Garay, Demichelis, Romero, Biglia vs Cole, Hart,Terryble, Rio, Lampard, Gerrard e.t.c. Definitely not as endowed from top to bottom like England 3. They topped their group with maximum points. Did not concede a goal in knockout competition for over 440mins of football (Switzerland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany) If that is failure. I am waiting for the year England would get to that level What does history have to do with present football? What was Iceland's history when they wiped the floor with England? Besides anybody still talking about Chile as a massive underdog circa 2015-2016 is clearly out of touch with reality. You even claimed Argentina struggled in Copa 16. Smh Tbh you have only succeeded in wasting my time. I would congratulate you for that |

Titles don't mean anything despite asking for performance similar to one of the most dominant sports teams in history Based on the talent assumed to be on their roster it is a valid expectation Should they fail to reach such heights then at the very minimum they should be able to get to the latter stages of said competitions Bringing up a team that lost at the furthest stage as an example of failure shows serious misunderstanding on your part |

Nihilist: Why are you lying though?
1. You asked for titles.
2. You asked for performance similar to the arguably the most dominant team in sports history
3. You described the absence of both as failure.
Why would you ask for title if title does not mean anything?
Do you go to a bukka and ask for agbada? Do you go to a petrol station and ask for a tuber of yam?
Why ask such a pointless question then? This is high grade megedefegede. Biko what is your native dialect maybe what I am saying has been lost in translation. Where are their titles? And subsequently I went on to highlight that they failed not because they didn't win any titles but because they consistently failed to even play to their supposed level Then you bring out another team who actually came closest to winning these titles as a counter to my points. When I have clearly highlighted you can succeed at a tournament without winning it Confusion of the highest order |

Nihilist: These are relative terms.
Argentina in the Finals is successful relative to England in 2nd round.
Argentina in finals is a failure relative to Germany and Chile who won.
However that is a very different discussion.
A40s post deals in very absolute terms.
Where are his titles? If he keeps failing year in year out, the player is overrated.
His own words from his own mouth.
Why can't he stand by them? I thought you were trolling but I can see you are genuinely confused. That a team did not win a tournament does not mean they were failures at said tournament. The question is titles or not which major tournament can we say England succeeded at I'm assuming you now understand you can be a success at a tournament without necessarily winning it |

Your misyarns were all contained in one post.
If we take it to Object Oriented design, we can say that your post was very well encapsulated.
You asked where the titles were and very clearly indicated that lack of titles was synonymous with failure.
Those are absolute terms which should be true in all scenarios. Naah. Clearly you are using the concept of Encapsulation wrong My post on titles and actual failure are like two paragraphs apart. I could be talking of an entirely different subject matter. History is fraught with great players that didn't win major titles. That you assume i would tie success or failure solely to that shows your lack of understanding I took time to clarify my stance in subsequent posts if I sounded ambigious ab initio yet you are still dropping more megedefegede |

Nihilist: The only way you can justify your gaffe is to compare Argentina to England.
Your criteria in your original post were very clear.
Your post does not ask for quarters, semis etc. It does not ask for comparison to other teams.
It simply asks for titles.
Where are the titles A40?
This is why I said that post was an exhibition in very poor logic because you cannot defend your stance purely within the parameters set in that post.
You have to look at semis and qualifiers. You have to ask what happens when Messi did not play etc...
The moment you start giving reasons why a lack of titles isn't necessarily failure, then your entire post questioning Lampard's lack of titles becomes utterly pointless...and is that what you want bro?
Long Essay like that to be rendered pointless crap?
Come on bro, I'm sure you can show us Messi's titles... This is why I said you are chasing your tail. No gaffe was made I asked for titles. I didn't say not winning them can be regarded as failure. Numerous teams fall into this bracket so your understanding is shallow, piss poor and laughable Johan Cruyff never won a major international title. So please apply common sense I was pretty clear when I stated why England could be considered failures and it had nothing to do with them not winning titles. You are pulling a strawman bruh |
