Having done that, I realised the sentence is: firstly, completely unconnected with the 'oxford comma', a terrible example to use the said comma in; secondly, it is a poorly-worded statement. Thus, except you explain that sentence or rewrite it, my punctuation remains. Only when either is done can it be properly punctuated.

The people you're targeting with this piece exist in an abjectly deluded world, to them evolution is non negotiable, an absolute fait accompli. It is even more shocking these days as many of them now believe they'd someday evolve into fictional characters like the X-men, or the avengers or something of the sort(!)
