aquatic1: Ab1x when you know a thing, and a frd know 2 things, I don't see any big deal trying to gain from the frd, so if your idea works for you and you are okay with it without exploring, its good, but I believe its good to explore on ones field, its to gain more knowledge.

Indeed, life is a learning process. You are yet to give a meaningful reply to my question. I am not an internet farmer but rather a professional at what I do. My advice to people is to stick to what they know how to do best instead of compounding their problems. Specialization brings about productivity and productivity brings about good quality.
Using two bloodstock each both for male and female is enough for me to get the desired result that I want.

aquatic1: The male broodstock won't die, what u just said is like the female broodstock will die after stripping the eggs, if you have the ful idea, the male broodstock won't die, and you will re-use it.

It is a very cumbersome process perhaps the method is just like conducting a CS on a woman to bring out the baby and to stitch it back. The chance of getting another sperm is slim. If u stitch it back there is a chance of the broodstock to survive.

I see. The method I used and conversant with, I could remove the sperm while the male fish is alive and it will die later on

darfem: Thanks bro, I am about to ask Ab1x the same question.
From the calculation the duration is over five months already.

The foreign or floating feeds is just for 1 1/2 month, the local feeds is for the rest of the months that is additional 2 1/2 months, 10 days. Thus, everything amounts to 4 months 10 days.



Mathematically; 1.5 floating plus 2.5 local that is 4 months



Plus additional 10 days



Making 4 months 10 days.

Please let me draw our attention to aquatic1 seminar where he mention that there is a way you will extract the male sperm without killing it, how possible is that, robonski did you know anything like that, if its true aquatic1 put me on ur seminar front row, I need this knowledge.

It is indeed true. The broodstock(male) will eventually die but it will take a while. It is a very simple method though.

You should be able to get Ziegler from any stores in Lagos. It is readily available in Ijebu Ode. If u look around and you don't see, I could buy it for u and send it through cab going to lagos. Will just tell u to go and pick it up.

samshoz: Pls, how much is 4000 litres tank and d price of dat square white tank?

Robonski has been banned by the admin till Wednesday. Meanwhile, the white Square keg is between 13 to 15K but the price varies from one area to another( it can even be cheaper in lagos). I don't know much about the price of 4000 liters of tank but the last time I bought a 3000 liters, it was around 29500 naira. Hope that helps ?

The breath should be 30
The length should be 40
And the depth should reach at least your waist.
Please I don't have tape rule which I can use to measure it.

You need to make use of coppens at least for 1 and a half month



After which you switch over to local feeds(2mm size). Here is the formula that I used in my farm and I can confirm to you authoritatively that I can boast of fish weighing between 2KG to 2.5KG within four months, 1 week.



FM (Danish) 72% 40
Toasted Soya 20
GNC 20
Indomie or biscuit 20
Premix 1
Lysine 1
Vit C 200grams
DCP 1
Molasis 10
Floxinor 1
Salt 1


Sorry, I don't use maize, cassava flake, koko garri, Wheat offal, rice meal, pKC or what have u.



I used the above formula for 3 and half month after which I change to;



FM (local) 20
Broiler starter 50
GNC 40
TS 40
Flour 30
Indomie 20
Premix 1
Lysine 1
Vit C 150grams
Salt 1
Molasis 10
Floxinor 1



Please note that floxinor is just a kind of antibiotics to prevent them from illness or sicknss so to say.


You must also avoid excess salt because it will reduce the weight of fish since salt itself is medicinal in nature.


Above all, stop using short cut in rearing fish otherwise u will see short cut at selling point. Use the right formula and see the power of right formula. Just my two cents.

Let me enlighten u a bit about the way they sell fish. Some buyers categorise it into four parts while other buyers categorise it into five parts. The four parts involves Big, Medium, Small and Smallest and the other five parts involve Big, Medium, Small, smallest and Runt(eja egun).



To determine Big, 12 to 13 pieces of fish must make 25KG. (Atimes some buyers accept 14pieces)

To determine Medium, 16 to 17 pieces of fish must make 25KG. (Atimes some buyers accept 18pieces)

To determine Small, 25 pieces must make 25KG invariably one fish must be 1KG.

To determine Smallest, 40 pieces must make 25KG

And the runt as many pieces as possible.


If you are rearing fish in Ijebu Ode and they are less than 1KG then you are invariably targeting the market women. In most cases, you won't make much money on it.

I do advise people to sell at a flat rate but it is only mkt women that are going to buy that and most of them buy it on credit. You need to target people who will travel with the fish to abuja, port harcourt, delta etc and they mostly do sorting. Cheers,

30 by 40 is okay. It can occupy between 2000 to 2500 pieces of fish till maturity. Avoid digging big earthen pond because at the point of selling the fish, u will encounter lots of problem such as pumping out of the water from the pond which is time wasting, packing of the fish for scaling is another problem and so on.

Start with 2mm coppens. There is no specific time to change to another size. Be rest assured that 2mm coppens is richer than any other mm. Thus, u can continue feeding them with 2mm pending the time you change to local feeds. NB: their mouth will judge when to change to another mm. Hope that helps ?

Mr. Ikuforiji is being tried for corruption.

Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, Lagos, has refused granting bail to the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, on self recognition, instead slamming a N1 billion bail on him. The judge ordered Mr. Ikuforiji to meet the bail condition within 48 hours or be held in prison pending the determination of the corruption case against him.

Mr. Ikuforiji was re-arraigned for alleged money laundering offence, alongside his aide, Oyebode Atoyebi, before Mr. Buba; after the former judge, Okechukwu Okeke, retired from the bench.

Mr. Okeke had granted the speaker bail on self recognition.

Try and get a cup of the feed, put small veg. Oil then mix with oxy or nco. Allow it to dry and give them to eat.
