Aleshyto: my oga sir, pls my juvenile is just a week now pls when should i change their water for the first time and also pls i need a very rich formular for their local feed, tanxThe kind of pond u make use of will determine when to change water. If it is concrete, it has to be every 3 days but if it is earthen using flow through method, u can leave it till harvest time. However, if u like u can change the water once before harvest(but I don't change mine @ all). Please allow your fish to eat enough floating feeds before u switch to local feeds. My formular one is FM 50, TS 20, GNC 20, biscuit 10, Vit C 200grams, Salt 1, Premix 1, DCP 1, Molasis 10 . My formular one is 100KG and it is 100% protein. You will notice massive change in the growth of ur fish. Of a truth, it is quite richer than coppens or any other floating feeds. |
nne4: Thanks for ur advice, my fishes are 3 months plus now.l will increase the fish meal when they finish this feed.God BlessYou're welcome. You can still make use of your formula since they r a bit matured now. They need little maize now. Let me give u dis bonus formular. It is called formula two: GNc 20 ts 20 flour 16.8 maize 16.6 fm 26.6 dcp 1 premix 1 vitc 100grams salt 1 molasis 10. That's what you should give ur fish at that age. |
nne4: Gnc - 30 kgYou've done well. From the above formular, you've made a local feed weighing 117KG For a starter, u need to increase FM to boast their growth. Please, don't make use of maize for a starter because it will take a while before it will digest in their system thereby it is always advisable to make use of flour or biscuit. When ur fish r now matured, u can then introduce maize to make them have weight. For a starter, u can make use of dis formular; FM 30, TS 25, GNC 25, Flour 10, Indomie or Biscuit 10, VitC 100grams, Salt 1KG, Premix 1 |
eugeneric: Pls house I Nid help. one of my earthen pond is covered with greenish substance. So the feeds stay on top of it while d fish can't access it. Hw do I control these greenish covering on d water surfaceYou need to allow water to enter into the pond. Or better still pump out the water and allow fresh water to enter into your pond. |
gopac: All thanks to God for a beautiful dayI am interested in the phone but why is the shipping fee $46? |
I don't think WU send money out of Nigeria. I think you can only receive it. The last time I sent money, I had to go down to Benin Republic to make the transfer. |
RIP |
Serves him right. |
Nice one |
Best wishes to my muslim brothers. |

It is well |
Anglican church too will announce and do all the necessary things needed. |
very touching tribute. |
Best wishes. |
Nigeria youths need to act fast. Our future lies in our own hand. None can fight our war for us. Revolution is looming in this country. |
Well, I hope you've learnt your lesson, Sexkillz. You just need to know how to address people on here because you're young and you are still going to need people when you are going up there. Outside that, you're a great guy. Nairalanders, let us all know that no one is above mistake. In light of this, I think we should forgive him and forget. To err is human; to forgive is divine. Seun has already promised that he will do what we requested for. Thanks, |
If naija youths can team up like this, I think we can go places. I love the fighting spirit and I feel we should come together in one accord to fight those corrupt leaders at the helm of affairs. Just my two cent though. |
Mf_hay: U knw wht Ab1x, u'r very correct, ur qustn is a jaw breaking expression, buh i fink no is the answer, why, because the problem of ur leadership has been in existnc since the inceptn of ur old leader frm 1960, if u plan to make it beta, xmtin wil change ur mind imediatly u'r elected as the presidnt, xo let ur all pray 4 GOD'X intervensnThere is a solution to every problem and if we have a genuine belief in that, there is a greater likelihood that we can profer a likely solution to the problem in place. It is true that our problem started since 1914 (Amalgamation) but I still feel each and every one of us, have one or two things to do to correct the situation. Failure to do nothing connotes that we have all failed in our time. |
Professor Peter: NoCan you please shed more light on your reply? |
stebell: Joblessness dat is ur problemYou can say that again. I am gainfully employed. I am happy with what I am doing. I feel we all have one or two things to contribute to the success of this great nation and if we fail to do so, then we are all a failure. |
If Nigeria does not succeed in our time then we are all a failure. Do u agree? |
mike58: My big bosses in d awse I salute... Pls how do I get rid of GREEN ALGAE on my earthen pond the water is flowin 24/7 still dey are always dere my fishes aren't rilly dieng mayb 1 or 2 evry 2weeks but it makes me uncmfortable makes me feel like dey aren't rilly happy inside d water. Dey are one mont two weeks old nw. This is my first time in d business and first stock 3000. AM WORRIED...You need to check your outlet. It seems water is not going out freely. You also need to pump out the initial water in the pond to allow fresh one to enter. |
Tosade01: Good morning to you all and happy new month.Fish buyers in lagos contact nos: 08020882010, 07051947402 |
Tosade01: Aiit boss, thanks. Oya Mr Ab1x and Mr Excelsoir, come to my rescue º°˚˚°ºoo.It can rear 1000 pieces depending on the depth. |
practicalclass: Its getting it plastered well that is the issue so the same doesnt repeat itself. I mean what amount of sand should be mixed with cement so it can be tight and hold water. When next u want to wash a concrete pond, make use of a sack not brush. Brush will be washing away the cement in the pond. |
lagbaja: It is obvious that you are refering to natural flow through systems. Either the ones with cages in rivers or streams. it is not every farmer that has access to free flowing streams. It is also not logistically conveneint to farm far away from where you live. You are also subjected to many security risks. It is diffcult to control predators in flow through systems. Recirculatory system is urban friendly. I have seen it done in a small room. Also, Yield is not measured in sizes of individual fishes, It is measured in total biomass over a given period of time. Recirculatory systems support high biomass density than natural flow thru systems. It is also difficult to control diseases in flow through systems unlike in RAS.It's my work and I know how to tackle all the problems listed above but the system is cheap when compare to other system. I've exam 2mao o, I would've love to profer solution to all the problems highlighted and also bring out the shortcomings of the method you are talking about but surely it is a topic for another day. |
excelsiorfarm: my bro, it isnt a contest of which prove my facts is ok, i can suggest u visit good recirculatory farm and ask them if at the point of harvest if d cost of fueling tells on their ROI, eg ajanla, durante is in naija, i know one in bodija,on barely half a plot, another in lagos around oke afa, byond saving water, u have lesser land use, u need not damage d environ etc, so d tech applies to naija if one can establish one, eg aside environ northerners get better harvest because they use improve seeds and know- how(talking from experience). Whatever system any man choose to use, just get the best & make profitIn the heat of argument, facts are abound to crop out. My point is dont generalize or conclude that a system is the best. Ijebuland is no doubt the largest catfish base in the whole of West Africa, I stand to be corrected. There are whole lot of people here that use many method and they still make their profit and the main point is to minimise cost and maximise profit. With just concrete pond without the system u advised, a catfish can still do better. |
lagbaja: A flow through system has to be recirculatoryto be ok unless u have a freely flowing stream to use. That was probably why the one Robonski reported failed.Of course you have to consider other factors before you make conclusion. It is so fallacious in nature to generalise. |
excelsiorfarm: i have no reason to question your judgment, but if indeed your conclusion is right,i guess the world over, that system will be the in thing, unfortunately it isnt. Learn from d major fishfarmers, none does flow thru, fishes in recirculatory ponds are healthy, the biofilter creates a great environ for growth and saves water.flow thru is a poor idea of recirculatory, from the v best in norway, to isreal , the world over, everyday they are improving on using less water to produce more fishes, durantee can be another eg which was once air on CNNOne of the major factor to consider is your environment. We are Africans and not european countries where their way of life is different from ours, where earth quake, volcano, ocean surge happens although technologically they are ahead of us. It is no doubt too that Africa is more blessed in terms of natural endowment. Most of the method u highlighted is put in place as a result of cost they incurred in getting water, payment of electricity bills and so on. Whereas, all of the above can be gotten freely. Catfish performs fine in earthen pond where you can make use of free flowing water and it does not cost you a dime to maintain. In a situation where your fish weigh btw 2.5 to 4KG without spending any money on powering any thing, then u sure should know that the method is indeed a very good method. It is entirely wrong to conclude that recirculatory system is better than flow through. It is wat you know better that you will talk about not generalizing please. Moreso, d essence of any method is to reduce cost, maximise profit, reduce stress. |
