Some fish at that age may be eating local while some maybe eating floating feeds. Whichever the case, try and get the following item: tetracycline, procaine(to heal the wound on their body) and Vit c(yellow type).


Ground the vitc and mix it with tet and procaine after which you mix it with their feeds with vegetable oil and spread it under the sun to make it dry.


Give them after two days later.



NB: after treating them with the first method, do not feed them for two days.

cachiskky: hello house, still on the subject of wounds. i discovered that the tail end of my fish are almost gone like u could practically see the bone of some. somebody suggested pottassium permanganate to treat the fish. please what are the gains and the dangers of this method of treatment because the fish are dying. i use earthern pond. please help

It is not advisable to make use of PG in earthen pond. I've posted ways by which you can treat your fish in earthen pond in my previous post on this thread. You need to get the following items; salt, NCO and Ashes(eeru).


The amount of salt to get depends on the size of your pond eg in a 30 by 40 meter pond, I use 20 to 30KG of salt.
A sachet of NCO is between N900 to N1000
Ashes, that you can get freely from any local bakery around or people that make use of charcoal to cook or make boli(roasted banana)


Here is the application of the above stuff:



1) Drain the water in the pond with the use of your water pumping machine.
2) Leave little water in the pond in such a way that it will cover the fish
3) Then, mix the three items together ie salt, ashes and nco.
4) Sprinkle it all over the pond, do make sure it covers everywhere
5) Leave them for like 30 to 40 mins, after which you allow fresh water into the pond


Before I tell you what next to do, let me know how old the fish are.

If I tell u they will disperse after a while, I may be wrong
Some fish may or may not scatter after a while.
However, a keen observation will help u to really determine if they are eating it or not.
You will need to watch their altitute when feeding and also make use of on a spot feeding technique.

mickyfish: Spot feeding preserve ur feed, nd it does'nt give room 4 overfeeding, most of all it minimizes pollution of water by feed( especially local feed)its adviseable to spot-feed.

lexy91: Feeding at a spot enable you determine when the fishes are satisfied. As over feeding could pollute the water, likewise under feeding will affect the growth rate. Feed at a Spot.

i also recorded three mortality in my post juveniles. just noticed them floating on the top of the water. their bodies looks whitish in color

It clearly shows that the water in the pond is polluted. It happened to me a while ago when I started catfish biz and I wanted to feed my fish for the first time with local feeds. So, instead of me to feed using on a spot feeding, I was just pouring the feeds inside the pond anyhow ​​‎​L̃̾Õ☺=D=))Õ☺L̃̾ and they hang on the water altogether, I can't forget though. You need to get Salt and Potassium pamanganate(u can get from any pharmacetical store around). You need to drain the old water from the pond completely. Then pump in little fresh water in such a way that it will cover all the fish in the pond. Then mix d salt and PG together, sprinkle it on them and all over the pond including walls therein. Leave them in the water for like 40 minutes before pumping in fresh water. Please DO NOT FEED them that day. The second day, change the water and pump in a fresh water.


You will then need to mix tetracycline, vit c with the present feeds they are eating and give them but make sure it is a light feeding.

Overfeeding can kill fish when they are still small but not when they've matured. You are to change their water(if it is concrete pond) every 3 days.

The formular is 100KG. TS means Toasted Soya, DCP _ sorry I don't know d meaning but it is meant to make d fish agile and give them strong bone. The biscuit is the normal biscuit we eat but the one they use at the feedmill is the industrial one. I mean, waste from the factory but I see guys working at the feedmill eating it. For how long they will consume 100KG depends on ur fish eating habit

Yes, you can use salt to treat ur fish in concrete pond too. The amount of salt depends on the size of ur pond and how many pieces of fish u have therein. You will make sure there is water in the pond to cover your fish before applying salt.

You can change their water and treat them with salt as soon as they finish with the present bag they are eating. You can then switch to local feeds. Make use of the formular that I recommended in my previous post on this thread and come back few weeks after to come and give testimony.

The one you talked about has killed 5 snakes within a month in my farm. You can get it at Oyingbo shopping complex at Ijebu Ode or any shop that sells floating feeds.

The one that I use is per harvest. I think it is better you get the one u call fake and u used it per harvest. Perhaps, it is just 4K and you can use it for like 2-5 times depending on the size of ur pond. I don't like repeating net because it can cause sickness to the fish.

When they clock 8 weeks, you can change their water and use 10Kilo of salt to treat them.

Give your fish enough floating feeds before changing to a local feeds. To reduce cost, make use of 20% FM on 100KG.

Since u've decided to feed your fish with maggot, u will need to treat them with salt whenever u change their water. This is to prevent any disease outbreak which may terminate the life of your fish. You can't feed your fish through out with maggots. I don't usually advise people to make use of maggot since the process is cumbersome and one can even contact disease from the kitchen shi.t. Fish farming biz has gone beyong straining yourself or using shortcut, there are ways you can reduce the cost of feeds and still make huge profit.

You should make use of salt to treat them. Whenever you drain their water, try as much as possible to spread the salt all over your pond and leave them for few minutes before pumping fresh water in.

How old are they?

The way out of this mess is not only to know the source of your seeds but to buy fingerlings. If para venture, they didn't perform as expected within the next 2 to 3 months, you can easily call the market women to come and buy them. I've stated it in my previous post on this thread that farmers should try and get fingerlings and rear it up to Juvenile. It takes just two weeks to do that. Whether you like it or not, you can't rule out runt whenever you hatch, even if you rear your fish up 6 months(Grow out), there is no way you will not have a fish less than 1KG.

It's N500 per KG at Ijebu Ode.
You can use 30% FM on 100KG. I've stated the formula above. There is no shortcut to anywhere in catfish biz. It is garbage in garbage out. No matter how much you spend, u still stand a good chance of making ur capital back and you'll see huge profit on it.

You need to use salt and PG to treat them.
After which you mix tetracycline(Yellow and Red capsule) with their feed and give them to eat.

You can change to local feed between 1 and half to 2 months

It should be between 33 to 34K
