TOKUGAWA: Hello House,I recently stocked my earthen pond precisely last week with 1500 juveniles.I made sure I disinfect d pond before stocking. The problem now is that I'm recording at least 3-5 deaths per day. Please advice on the way out of this mess. The illness was as a result of change of environment majorly caused by water. You need to drain the water in the pond with d aid of water pumping machine. Get salt, ashes and NCO mixed them together after which you sprinkle them in the pond in such a way that it will spread all over the pond. After doing that, stop feeding them for at least 2 days. Above all, what kind of feed are they eating now ? Local or floating feeds ? |
TOKUGAWA: thanks broYou're welcome. |
Riba_man: This is to express my gratitude to the guys who have unselfishly shared their wisdom and experience with the house! Oga Robonski,Oga Exclesior, Oga ab1x, and the many others!I'm glad that I could be of help mate. God bless u too. Amen |
TOKUGAWA: @ Robonski,hw can I disinfect an earthen pond?additionally pls send details of d seminar to osinadebisiseun@yahoo.com.lastly I need good buyers for my fish,I'm located at ishara remo just after Iperu Ogun state..Thank you.pls call 08181290616Make use of salt to disinfect d pond. As regards a buyer for your fish, do call Orji on 08079264921. He pays cash. NB: do not sell on credit. |
Immaculate4sure: @excelsior thanks, I use 35kg of fish meal for 100kg of feed.So considering the cost I intend reducing it to 20 or 25 and look for other forms of protein to minimize my expenses & maintain d quality of my feeds.35% fish meal on 100KG is okay. I'll advise you to continue using the method you are used to instead of deviating. Blood meal do not only pollute water but also cause sickness to the fish |
robonski15: Happy sunday to u all... God blessHappy sunday 2 u too. Cheers ! |
Riba_man: Thanks,mate!You're welcome, bro. |
Riba_man: Abeg, where can one find foreign fish food in Enugu! I buy in Abakaliki, it's a bit pricey. ThanksYou need to continue with the place u get the feeds from pending the time you get another place. Most of the people here are either located in Lagos or Ogun State. Another option is if u know a driver that can help u to purchase it from lag or ogun and bring it for u in Enugu. Wish u all d best. |

Originalsly: Just curious...I read a front page post where someone was surprised that a guy was feeding his catfish local feed. Wouldn't catfish eat basically anything thrown its way? Why buy special feed? Is it that the feed contain steroids or growth hormones?.....just curious. At the early stage in fish life, it is easy to feed them with foreign feeds because it is a floating feed and very rich and nutritional in value compare to locally produced feed. It is also worthy to note that since they are still small and fragile anything thrown @ them if care is not taken may cause havoc in their lives which can therefore after their growth. Basically, I feed my fish with floating feeds for 1 and half month before moving to locally formulated feeds and I can authoritatively tell you that I can boast of 2 to 3 KG of fish per one in less than five month. Hope my reply helps ur question. |
d.adebayo:Check with people that sells floating feeds. |
Kudos... More power 2 ur elbow. |
@Saheed: Please follow the instructions given to u by Aquatic 1 and excelsiorfarm and give us feedback. Thanks, |
saheed':aquatic1 (my oga) has given you a nice reply. Could you please let us know what kind of pond you are using? |
omode2: thanks but frm d farm pix u posted u use concrete ponds does d mortality rate differ btw concrete and earthen pond?Mortality rate in earthen pond is minimal compare to concrete pond because we hardly change water from inception to the point of sales. Much a times when u change water in concrete pond, it is always stress for the fish. It also can inflict wound on their body thereby leading to their death because other fish will be pecking them. Other things that can lead to the death of fish in earthen pond among others are; snake, crab, frog, toad etc but with the aid of net one can control such. However, everything boils down to good management practices and that depends largely on experience. |
2000 liters of water for 400 to 500 pieces can only rear Melange. If it exceed 3 months, it will lead to over crowding and overcrowding will affect the growth of fish. I don't really like getting myself mixed up with the size of pond and how many fish it can take. I can only say when I see it, for example 30ft breath by 40 ft length earthen pond can conveniently rear 2000 pieces of fish, 20ft by 50 ft can also rear 2000 pieces etc. |
omode2: @ robonski I intent to use an earthen pond will d water be changed as like the concrete pond? And is there a preventive or vaccination for the diseases you mentionedIf it is a flow through system, you don't need to change water through out. As for the treatment, you only need to pour salt into the pond if you want to but it is optional anyway. I don't use any vaccination before stocking though |

gtrust: Is that road construction or road paintingExactly my thought. On a more serious note, d road is going to have lot of potholes in less than a year. How can u even call that a road construction when there is no drainage facilities in place. SMH for this country ! |
These people should let the sleeping dogs lie instead, of causing yet another trouble in the south west again. It is high time they live in peace, love and harmony. |
MANOSUB: Is diabetic hereditary? That is a very complex question but I'll say it is hereditary since some families are known to have it in their lineage. No matter how they tried to prevent it, they will eventually have the disease. |
I've a local cure for it. I am pretty sure about it. NB: I am not soliciting for customers though. |
buklan: What password and username did U̶̲̥̅̊ use for U̶̲̥̅̊я̲̅ pd proxy. You need to sign up with PD proxy and pay for a month subscription with ur LR. |

kulyie: why can't he investigate.waht of the other officiating ministers that do their investigations,do they have 2 headsIt is what u want 'em to know that they will know. Some pple r very good @ keeping information. The church claimed that the guy in question told 'em that he has divorced his first wife. You don't expect them not to join 'em together. Part of the reason y they announce again in the church that if there is anybody here that does not want us to join dis couple together blah blah is to really confirm whether or not they have rugged past. If we have functional system, all dis trash will not happen. Marriage certificate is not a big deal in naija because u and I know that anybody can have access to it. Outside that, u can get one in PH and opt for another one in LAG since we r still backward in dis computer age. No wonder some pple do not know the website of their organisation because there is no record per se in d country |
ItsModella: This is just plain pathetic. You mean the guy actually planned out a wedding with guests, rice and cake with his mistress? What was he thinking? That his wife wouldn't get wind of it? Kudos to the wife for shaming him before he totally shamed her. Stupïd man.How will the officiating minister know that the man is married? Do we have sound data system in the country? Of a truth, anything can happen in naija. |
