HealthWomen Who Choose To Have An Abortion Have 'positive Future Outlook' by abagram(op): 4:34am On Dec 18, 2015
Women who choose to have an abortion are more likely to be successful, a survey by US medical professionals has shown.
According to the research and advocacy group Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health, those who had abortions were six times more likely to have aspirations for the next year - and were 20 per cent more likely to achieve those goals.
Those goals included going to school (21.3 per cent of respondents) and trynig to get work (18.9 per cent), the survey of 800 women found.
Dr. Ushma Upadhyay, the lead author on the report and professor of gynaecology at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine did not respond to a request for further comment from The Independent.
Abortion opponents often argue that women suffer psychological trouble after undergoing the procedure, which they charge terminates a human life and abortion rights proponents say merely removes foetal tissue. Abortion rights advocates, in an attempt to combat what they call the spread of medically inaccurate information and a growing number of restrictions on the procedure imposed by members of state legislatures, have mounted campaigns to remove the social stigma from abortion.
Jex Blackmore, director of the Detroit, Michigan chapter of The Satanic Temple, earlier this month started a blog called Unmother to “publicize” her abortion.
“When there is information, it typically focuses on the woman's decision and whether or not she regrets choosing abortion,” Ms Blackmore said.
The blog followed an ongoing campaign, launched by abortion rights advocates in September, to stop the stigma around the procedure by encouraging women to speak out about about their abortions on social media using the hashtag #ShoutYourAbortion

EducationWAEC Releases Nov/dec WASSCE Results by abagram(op): 3:10am On Dec 18, 2015
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Thursday released the Nov/Dec West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) taken by 237,154 candidates.
But WAEC management for the first time decided to conceal the statistics of candidates who obtained five credits including English Language and Mathematics in the private candidate exam.
Attempt by Journalists to get the statistics proved abortive as the new Head of National Office (HNO), Mr. Isaac Adenipekun, insisted that the results of candidates with five credits including English and Maths were available but would reflect the true picture of the general performance.
Announcing the release of the results of the Nov/Dec 2015 WASSCE, the HNO, Mr. Adenipekun flanked by top management staff of the council said a total of 237,154 candidates sat for the exam made up of 124,512 male and 112, 642 female candidates.
Adenipekun who performed his first official task of releasing WAEC results, stressed 235, 542 candidates, representing 99.32 per cent had their results fully processed while 1, 612 others (0.68 per cent) have few of other subjects still being processed due to some errors.
He explained 79,490 candidates, representing 33.51 per cent obtained six credits and above, 113, 573 others (47.88 per cent) recorded five credits, 146, 253 candidates (61.67 per cent) obtained credits in four subjects.
Other statistics include 175,718 candidates, representing 74.09 per cent obtained credits and above in three subjects while a total of 200,304 candidates (84.46 per cent) obtained credits and above in two subjects.
The new WAEC boss noted that the results of 28,768 candidates, representing 12.13 per cent are being withheld for further investigation in connection with various cases of examination malpractice.
His words: ‘‘The reports of the investigations will be presented to the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) of the council for consideration. The committee’s decisions will be communicated to the affected candidates in due course.’’
Adenipekun disclosed that candidates who sat for the examination should check their performance on the council’s results website: www.waecdirect.org within 24 hours.
According to him, as part of the efforts of the council to continue to protect the integrity of its examinations, and to remain many steps ahead of perpetrators of examination malpractice, WAEC management deployed another cutting-edge technology in the conduct of its examinations called “CredenceOne”.
‘’It is the intersection of mobile communications and biometric technology. It is a mobile biometric identification and verification system, built on the Android Operating System. Using “CredenceOne” is as simple as using a mobile phone. It is used to initiate and complete the biometric verification of candidates’ fingerprints. The device is programmed to compare the scanned fingerprint template with the initial templates captured during registration and display the candidate’s details to check impersonation.
‘’The system also takes candidates’ attendance and automatically sends the records online to the remote central server for reporting. With this innovation, we can boldly say that WAEC, Nigeria now has its biometric fingerprint identification and verification system on a mobile device’’, he explained.
On the demand by Journalists to make available the statistics of candidates with five credits including English Language and Mathematics, the WAEC boss said ‘’it is missing leading to judge the performance of candidates with five credits (English and Maths) in Nov/Dec WASSCE. However, the statistics is available for researchers.
He continued: ‘’The idea of pass and failure in Nov/Dec WASSCE is different from the May/June school exam. I have refrained from giving the statistics of those who obtained five credits including English and Maths because it does reflect the true performance of candidates in the exam. Majority of the candidates sat for the exam to make up their credits for admissions into tertiary institution.’’
The HNO commended the staff of the council, for their dedication to duty and contribution to the successes recorded during the conduct of the examination, marking of scripts and processing of the results of the Nov/Dec 2015 WASSCE.

SportsChelsea Sacks Jose Mourinho by abagram(op): 2:52am On Dec 18, 2015
Jose Mourinho has been sensationally sacked as Chelsea manager after a 2-1 defeat by Leicester compounded his side’s miserable start to the season, leaving the club with no choice but to dismiss him, despite a possible £10m pay-out.

The Portuguese boss guided his side to the Premier League title in May, but Monday’s loss was their ninth of the campaign, leaving them in 16th place, just a point above the relegation places.

Guus Hiddink is set to be installed as the interim manager until the end of the season, and could even take charge of the Blues clash with Sunderland this weekend.

Pep Guardiola has been sounded out about becoming Chelsea’s permanent boss next summer, but is understood to have told the club they need 10 new players.

The club have long-term plans to install Diego Simeone, who will cost £15million to extract from his Atletico Madrid contract.

Mourinho, who was ready to open talks over a financial settlement to seal his exit after the defeat at West Ham at the end of October, has now seen his second spell at Stamford Bridge come to an end.

Roman Abramovich could be forced to pay Mourinho up to £10million after the Portuguese manager signed a four-year deal this summer.

With that deal only a few months old, and no clause in Mourinho’s contract, Sportsmail understands that the sacked manager will be paid by Chelsea until he lands another job.

As part of the settlement to leave by ‘mutual consent’, he is being paid £250,000 a week up to a maximum of £10m.

If he were to take a job next week they would only pay him nominal compensation, but an extended break from football would see him earn the full £10m.

A club statement confirmed that the club had ‘parted company’ with their manager, and said results had ‘not been good enough’.

‘Chelsea Football Club and Jose Mourinho have today parted company by mutual consent,’ the statement read.

‘All at Chelsea thank Jose for his immense contribution since he returned as manager in the summer of 2013.

‘His three league titles, FA Cup, Community Shield and three League Cup wins over two spells make him the most successful manager in our 110-year history. But both Jose and the board agreed results have not been good enough this season and believe it is in the best interests of both parties to go our separate ways.

‘The club wishes to make clear Jose leaves us on good terms and will always remain a much-loved, respected and significant figure at Chelsea.

‘His legacy at Stamford Bridge and in England has long been guaranteed and he will always be warmly welcomed back to Stamford Bridge. The club’s focus is now on ensuring our talented squad reaches its potential.

‘There will be no further comment until a new appointment is made.’

The club also confirmed that their scheduled press conference for Friday has been cancelled.

It is the second time Mourinho has left Stamford Bridge under a cloud after ending his first spell as Blues boss in 2007.

He took training on Thursday but looked visibly upset, and quite shaken, when talking to players afterwards.

Mourinho lost support within the Chelsea hierarchy after his bust-up with former club doctor Eva Carneiro during the 2-2 draw with Swansea on the opening day of the season.

Stars of last season’s campaign including Eden Hazard, Nemanja Matic and Cesar Azpilicueta have all come in for fierce criticism from their manager in front of their peers, leading to splits in the camp.

He claimed after the latest defeat – away to league leaders Leicester City – that he felt ‘betrayed’ by his players, and that he was a victim of his own success last season.
‘Sometimes I find myself thinking last season I did an amazing job, brought players to a level not their level. If this is true I brought to such a level they couldn’t keep for more than super-motivation to be leading. That is one possibility.’

However, Abramovich decided that the defeat was a step too far, with Chelsea just a point above the relegation zone after 16 games.

Hiddink, who was an interim manager at the club in 2009, is tipped to take over until the end of the season, with Juande Ramos, Brendan Rodgers and Fabio Capello all also linked to the club in a short-term role.

Mourinho said only this week that he was focused on winning against Sunderland on Saturday, claiming he wanted to ‘win a match’ to make him feel alive.

In a conversation with Clare Balding for her show, to be broadcast on BT Sport on Thursday night, Mourinho did not seem to have any idea about his fate.

The show, recorded before his sacking, will be shown as planned, but with a notice to viewers informing them he has been sacked.

PoliticsOkorocha Approves N11bn For Workers by abagram(op): 6:01am On Dec 15, 2015
Health workers in Imo State now have cause to smile ahead of the yuletide, as Governor Rochas Okorocha has approved N11 billion to offset their nine months arrears.
In addition, the governor has declared three weeks holidays for workers for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Imo state governor, who disclosed this during an interactive session with journalists at the Government House yesterday explained that the government does not owe its workers except the health workers, who, he said, had refused to collect their money after a reduction in their allowances.
Okorocha said: “I have paid all the workers up to date except the health workers and six parastatals that have issues with the government.”
He regretted that about 95 percent of the allocation to the state is spent on the state’s workers.
“We spend more money on our workers, 95 percent of total money that comes to Imo is spent on workers, who are about 40,000, yet no productivity, this is my pain and anger.
“I stand to be challenged by any worker who says salary has not been paid, four years ago, we did not owe workers, we were the first to pay N20 000 minimum wage, but it is regrettable that they are not measuring up to their salary,” he added.

CelebritiesIt’s A Miracle I Survived Fire Outbreak -queen Ure by abagram(op): 4:58am On Dec 13, 2015
Queen Ure has revealed that it was a miracle she survived the fire outbreak which gutted her home recently in Omole, Lagos. In a chat with Entertainer, the singer and motivational speaker who lives alone recounted her experience and thanked God for sparing her life.
“It’s a miracle that I’m alive to tell the story, it’s a miracle that I survived the fire out break at all. Please join me in thanking The Lord for his mercies. I was sleeping in the sitting room and had dozed off. I don’t know the exact time the fire started but I woke up at about 12.30am, it was actually the sound of the explosion of the TV in the room that woke me up!
“I was in shock; I didn’t exactly know what to do. I live alone so I tried to get water but I knew it would be useless because the whole room was already on fire and the entire house was filled with smoke so I ran out and from the balcony I started shouting for help.”
Luckily for her, her action paid off and neighbours ran to her rescue and the fire was eventually put out.
Commenting on the aftermath Queen continued: “It was really bad. Before people could come around, get a ladder and start making efforts to put out the fire it had done a lot of damage but I thank God for life.
“In fact, while they were trying to put it out the air conditioner exploded, you can imagine the flames. When I looked at my body, I was black all over. That was when I realized I must have been there sleeping for a long while, thank God for the sound of the explosion of the TV, I probably wouldn’t have woken up; I just thank God,” says Queen who also reveals that her entire bedroom was burnt and she lost everything including electronics, jewelry, shoes, all her clothes and important documents.
“I’m great, I’ve been singing and thanking God and celebrating, if you put a dead body beside material things, it won’t wake up. I’ll replace all those things I lost by God’s grace, this was not a tragedy, it’s a big testimony.”

An 18-year-old man, Happy Eforpor of Edere-Aviara in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State has reportedly gone wild, allegedly pulling a locally made pistol following the refusal of his love advances by one Fejiro Independence.
Eforpor, suspected to be a cultist, had, in company with his friend, one Samson Dick, approached Miss Independence for friendship but the damsel was said to have turned down his request.
Not happy with the girl’s response, Eforpor, in a bid to force his object of admiration into the relationship allegedly engaged her in hot exchange of words, which attracted the parents of the girl.
The appearance of the girl’s parents did not deter the lover boy, who allegedly pulled out the locally made pistol and threatened to shoot them. But for the intervention of a surveillance team attached to the Oleh Division of the Delta State Police Command following a distressed call, the story would have been tragic.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Celestina Kalu, said her men succeeded in arresting Eforpor and one Oghenemaro Onowo, who allegedly aided the escape of Eforpor’s accomplice, Samson Dick. Christianity EtcKogi: We Warned That Audu Could Die – Apostle Suleman by abagram(op): 3:49am On Dec 06, 2015
Apostle Johnson Suleman, founder of the Auchi, Edo State based Omega Fire and Miracles Ministries, is a motivational and faith-building teacher. Suleman, in this interview, shares his ‘prophecies from God to nations and individuals’ while demonstrating, that, by faith and actions of leadership, there is great hope that people will be impressed with how God affects lives and then turn to God in reality.
Specifically, he says he warned that the late APC governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu, could die in the middle of election.
Your ministry appears to growing across the world, and you continue to open more, branches. What inspired this spread?
Christ Jesus is the secret of the growth of Omega Fire and Miracles Ministries. We employ this dynamic approach to winning souls for Christ and this approach regularly attracts God to the multitude because we demonstrate kindness to the people, thereby giving evangelism clearer meaning and making it more effective than mere giving sermon. The ministry is also spreading fast with “Celebration TV” which we established to take the gospel into the homes, schools, offices and businesses of millions across the world. We have achieved a lot in revealing God in His true form as well as restoring destinies in millions of homes across the world. We have charitable outreaches like ‘Voice of Fire’, ‘Turning Point’, ‘New Anointing’, ‘My Turn’, ‘Moment of Grace’, ‘Freedom Hour’, ‘Saved’, ‘Jehovah The Doctor’, ‘Power To Excel’, and several others, with which we seek to educate leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick and teach the next generation, while conducting massive charitable works. Apart from this, I write books that are not just inspirational but also teach true friendship as well as helping to develop relationships in God’s ways even as we use the approach to find a caring and creative ways to evangelize. Profits from the books are used to provide assistance to the poor, victims of disasters, and the diseased.
Apart from evangelising around the world, you are also noted for fore-telling events. Among the several you have foretold, can you tell us few?
I want to start with the latest, and that was the death of Abubakar Audu in the Kogi State election. I was at a crusade in our Houston Texas branch on November 7, 2015, when God revealed to me that a popular politician in Nigeria could die in the middle of an election.
I told the nation. Then there was the event on September 20, 2015 when I said I saw that there was going to be fresh bombings in Borno and I asked Nigerians to go into prayer. Many had believed that with the coming of President Muhammadu Buhari to power, the Boko Haram bombings were going to stop but God said not yet. Also, on Sunday October 25, 2015, I told the world that I saw an aircraft of a foreign nation crashing with no casualty. That later happened to be Dynamic Airways which caught fire but no life was lost. All the events where these prophecies were announced were aired live on our ministry’s Celebration TV. On May 29, 2015, God spoke through me and I said it that the Buhari government would fight churches. Not long after, the Kaduna State governor, El-Rufai, shut down a church in Kaduna.
This particular warning was repeated on August 28 and September 6, 2015. On June 26 and July 6, 2015, I foresaw fire outbreak and buildings collapse in Lagos, which came to pass. On that same June 26, I warned of an inferno at Onitsha market, which also came to pass, because people ignored these warnings and refused to seek God’s face over them. Also, I’m the first man of God that foresaw the demise of Chief (Mrs.) HID Awolowo. During the September Fire and Miracle Night, I did warn of the impending death of a prominent female figure that will touch the nation.
Most men of God rarely speak about their wives. Would you like to share the role of your wife in running the church?
Any victory by the family in the war against the devil is ultimately reflected in the society. For a Christian family, particularly in the leadership, the victory is mirrored on the church. Therefore, this is the result of the role a woman plays in the family and in the church. God has blessed me with a wonderful woman, a firebrand evangelist and a mass communication expert who has the rare privilege of sharing in the anointing, and who has remained steadfast and untiring at building the home, the church and society in general. What is your latest message to Nigerians?
I recall, in March this year, I told the nation that in six months’ time, Nigerians would want to stone President Buhari. The manifestation is there now. Yes, the President means well, but then, Nigerians have suffered for too long and they have become so impatient they don’t need someone to preach to them about tomorrow. They want economic miracle to start happening right now, which is understandable. I warned in my prophecies of January 2015 that the Naira would go for 200 to one US dollar. The economy has remained unstable despite the change promises and high hopes. But I foresee that the incoming year is the year of reckoning for political thieves, leaders who looted the nation’s treasury. 2016 is the year they will be called to account for their deeds.
How do you feel when people react to prophecies that do not come to pass?
According to the Bible, prophesying is to speak forth and to speak by the Spirit. These words might contain past, present and future events, instruction or warning. Depending on the type of message that comes forth; it may or may not be averted.
That is left to God. The fact that a prophecy did not come to pass does not mean that the Spirit never said it. What may happen in that instance is that necessary steps were taken; prayer and fasting, to forestall negative occurrences. And whether we believe in the prophecy or not, it does not change the fact that God truly called the servant through whom He has spoken, neither does it make God who spoke through His servant a liar.

CrimeA Man Killed His Sister Over Plantain Harvest In Kogi State by abagram(op): 2:34am On Dec 06, 2015
The disagreement between 36-year-old Mohammed Adamu and his elder sister, Ikani Ayebe Adamu, which had simmered since 2014, finally boiled over, resulting in Mohammed strangling her to death.
Long before Mohammed strangled the sister, ABAGRAM gathered that he had severally threatened to kill her and burn her house over her refusal to allow him harvest the plantain planted in their father’s compound.
Mohammed is now gnashing his teeth in regret, in the custody of the Kogi State Police Command, under the watchful eyes of men of the State Criminal Investigation Department, where he is undergoing interrogation.
Bad blood between the siblings developed over the plantain planted in their father’s compound.
The deceased, Ikani, was the first among nine children of the family, which hailed from Adumu Igah village, Olamaboro Local Government Area, Kogi State. Four of the children died later, prior to the recent demise of Ikani.
The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu, who spoke with Sunday Sun expressed shock at the horrifying death of the deceased.
One of the children of the deceased, Onaja Adamu who recounted the chain of events that led to the death of the mother said: “My uncle, Mohammed Adamu came to our house around 4pm to inquire about the whereabouts of my mother. I told him that my mother went to the farm to harvest cassava stem.
“He left and came back around 6:00pm to ask about my mother again. I still told him that my mother had not yet come back. We became suspicious of why he was insistent on knowing the whereabouts of my mother. So we traced our mother to the farm and saw her dead body around 8:00pm, lying by the side of the road; her wheelbarrow also stood beside her.”
Promptly they raised the alarm and rushed to Olamaboro Police Station to report the killing of their mother. The case was transferred from Olamaboro Police Station to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lokoja for proper investigation.
n a chat with ABAGRAM, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, in-charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lokoja, Mr. Ibrahim Sambo, said that detectives were drafted to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of Ikani. In the course of the investigation, the detectives arrested Mohammed as the prime suspect.
During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and narrated how he killed his elder sister.
Sambo said that the autopsy report confirmed that the deceased was strangled to death. He added that the suspect would soon be charged to court.

Just like it happened during the March 28 presidential election, the card reader of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) again rejected the thumbprint of Goodluck Jonathan, former president, in the ongoing Bayelsa state governorship election. Alongside his wife and mother, Jonathan came to polling unit 039, Ward 13 in Ogbia local government area, located exactly opposite his Otuoke residence, but he could not get accredited via the card reader. He returned to his house and came back to the polling unit around 10am, about one hour after the initial incident. This time around, the card reader acknowledged Jonathan and wife but failed to read the biometrics of the mother of the ex-president. An incident form was filled on her behalf before she was manually accredited.

FamilyI Feel Like Telling My Mother-in-law To Get Lost by abagram(op): 11:29am On Dec 02, 2015
My mother-in-law has always interfered in my relationship with her son. Ever since I gave birth to our son three years ago, she’s become much worse. She criticizes all my choices and says the clothes I buy for my son are cheap and second-hand.
She’s mad that we didn’t call the boy the name she gave him saying the one we call him doesn’t reflect the family background.
Most times, she just walks into our house without informing us and hangs around for as long as she likes. Whenever I mention her attitude to my husband, he just shrugs his shoulders and says his mum means no harm. But I’m getting close to being really nasty to her.

PoliticsBoko Haram Not Responsible For Kano Blast –zakzaky by abagram(op): 5:47am On Dec 02, 2015
Leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky has said last week’s bomb explosion in Kano which killed 24 persons during Arba’een symbolic trek, was not carried out by Boko Haram even when it claimed responsibility for the attack.
Spokesperson for the group, Ibrahim Usman in a statement, quoted Zakzaky as saying, “we know the names of the contractors and those contracted to commit the massacre; their identity is not hidden from us.
“Therefore, we cannot be cowed by an imaginary Boko Haram tale; let them tell it to the fools and the ignorant. They should know that they are dealing with those with foresight, wisdom and intelligence, and above all, with the real religion.”
The Muslim cleric opined that the attack was manipulated to make the public believe that Boko Haram launched the attack through a suicide bomber, alleging that the media was used to suppress the news of the attack and limit it to a so-called suicide bomber. There was nothing like a suicide bomber. They torture and drug unsuspecting captives and made them carriers of the explosives which they detonated among people”.
Sheikh Zakzaky further alleged that perpetrators of Kano bomb attack were the same people, who seven years ago, in broad daylight, attacked us and killed two people, attacked the Ashura procession, killed people in Potiskum and killed 34 people during Quds Day procession in Zaria in 2014.
