uken73: What does it look like to host Alpha 5 web apps? It's like hosting an asp web app, technically speaking. |
inspired_m: IT CANT GET BETTERYou do well!!! |
stariobran: please i have an idea for a mobile app, a million dollar idea, and im scared of paying anyone to develop it until it is launched, to avoid the idea being stolen. so therefore i am taking it upon myself to learn html5 and create it.Try alpha5 software on www.alphasoftware.com .It's a great tool. You can create apps with little or no code. |
Well done my guy! |
When God turns to you, it becomes your turn. |
The advert just came out today. Check today's punch. |
elvis10ten: LOLZ. I don't need to waste my mb to view that page or video, i guess they all end on the same road, sorry if i touch a spot. Any way i learnt the basic of c++, then went on to java and php fully. I learnt java(j2se) so i can grab j2me. I learnt all this on phone when i was 12-13 years and up till now am still looking for a pc, am 14 now. I created this mobile app named Xmx Me www. using a compiler on my j2me phone which i found at www.mumey.wen.ru (J2ME SDK MOBILE) . The site is only j2me phones friendly and ugly i know, because am not gud at designs and html, css, javascript stuff. So what about you ?Well I am impressed with your level of knowledge considering your age!!! Quite impressive i must say. Are you a Nigerian? I have been a programmer for more than a decade. I have extensive knowledge and experience in VB6,.Net (C#) and Java. I currently program in XBasic and I use Alpha Five (www.alphasoftware.com) as my development tool coz of the simplicity, ease of use, speed and most importantly i may choose not to even write a single line of code while developing sophisticated application. I would upload some of my projects to u later on. However, programming or apps development is my hobby but I am an Engineer with an IOC by Profession. |
Hello ify,i am thinking of investing into Online travel Agency (OTA) biz (Like Wakanow). What exactly do I need? I am currently enrolled for IATA foundation course in an accredited training outfit. What do u advise? |
elvis10ten: sameReally ![]() Interesting. If I may ask, what's your competency level like as far as programming is concerned? What application have you developed before on your own and with which language? |
elvis10ten: its a lazy approach na.Take a look at this page / video. http://aaconferenceapplication..com/2013/05/building-mobile-conference-registration.html Let me know whether itz also a lazy approach. |
elvis10ten: its a lazy approach na.You are still living in the past...wake up bro! |
send me an email on abiodunode@aol.com . |
1 - 2,final score. |
I would advise that you learn Alpha five development tools. Its underlying programming language is XBasic. You'll be surprised of what you can do in 1 month. Take a look at www.alphasoftware.com . Get an overview video here: http://www.alphasoftware.com/platform/gettingstartedvideo.asp If you need further information, send me an email on abiodunode@yahoo.com . Best of luck!!! |
Your link is not opening. |
OP, this discussion has been debated extensively some few days ago on this link: https://www.nairaland.com/1254262/best-both-worlds-html5-mobile Truth be told, web app that would run on ANY device with all native experiences is the future of software development. For example, when you log on to channels TV website, there are different icons for various devices like Blackberry, Android, Iphone etc. What happens to a user whose OS is not covered here? Does that mean the site is not meant for him? I really dont wanna start any kind of argument again, but based on my research so far, html5 is the future. I am an Alpha five developer, and this is actually one of the selling points for choosing Alpha platform. |
Hello, I hope the OP is not talking about me? I've got HND Elect, PGD Elect, MEng Engineering Mgt (Foreign school) and MBA (Foreign school). I am currently studying for my Phd in Engineering Mgt(Also Foreign). I've got a lot of International trainings and certifications. Contrary to your assertion, I work in one of the most respected IOCs (Oil Coy). Yet, I am not at managerial level. Are you saying i have missed road? Or am i too over-loaded? For your information, some Masters programs abroad are so competitive that people that already have masters are given higher priorities. The truth is first degree cert is like pure water these days. Have you seen some Entry level positions requesting for Masters degree? If you think your Bsc alone is enough to secure a good job, you may be deceiving yourself. You need to top up your first degree with some relevant skills, trainings, higher degrees and vocational trainings for you to be relevant in today's market. The reason is beacuse jobs are so competitive these days and our education system is also not helping matter due to our archaic curriculum. This has led to the production of half-baked graduates who cannot competently compete in the market. It's a systemic problem really.... Itz well. |
okay cool, itz well. |

lordZOUGA: it is still going to be slow and of less quality than native apps. internet is still costly and crappy, so until it gets cheap, we shall duscuss this again.Oh i see, it seems you are basing your argument based on our internet connectivity issues in Nigeria. The world is not waiting for Nigeria my broda. We can only catch up as much as we can but we are not in any way determining the direction of technological wave. Shalom... |
Today's technologies focus more on functionality rather than the euphoria of successfully writing 10 pages of code which can now be achieved by a single click of a button. Why do you have to re-invent the wheels? Come to think of it, you should have foreseen long before now that the idea of creating native apps is not sustainable. The reason is because you would have to write and rewrite same app a number of times just beacuse you want to port into iphone, blackberry, Android, Windows Phone etc. Do you know how many Mobile OS that wud still be invented soon? Meaning you would keep re-writing same app and learning new technologies every day so as to port your app. Come on, this is truly not sustainable. You should be able to build once, and run your application on any OS or device so far the device is internet enabled. This is the essence of html5 technologies. People saw this coming and more reason why they came about PhoneGap. However, the solution is pretty simple if and only if you must still publish into android, IOS, WIndows or BB market. Just develop your app in html5 enabled development tools and create a small native app that wud only launch the link to your app. You would save yourself a lot of headaches by so doing. |
laxx: shed more light brother...Take a look at this demo app here: http://screencast.com/t/GbUiqlJIKP The app was developed using Alpha5 without writing a single line of code and it would run on any device (Tablets, Phones, ipads, PCs etc). Coding is optional these days... |
mededot: I'm having one at the moment! I have a project where a web developer is working for me! And he promised heaven on earth before we started... Now he's not picking calls, he has only shown one lousy screenshot of the work done so far! What project are u working on? |
naija_swag: Got a working hotel software built with Java desktop and MySQL. Hope to make a web version before year end still with Java technologies. Can you share the database schema / structure for your hotel application with us here? |
laxx: I do not agree. Not especially with the advent of phonegap. Developing is not just for the fun of it, at least not to people who intend to become relevent in the world of apps and eventually in the tech world. I believe both will remain. And developers will choose whichever they deem perfect for whatever purpose they're interested in. HTML5 has obviously come to stay. The support for it has been like wildfire. Even Adobe had to buy phonegap because they saw something. We native language dudes tend to look down on peeps that code with html5 and the likes for mobiles. But frankly the world doesn't care. All the world wants is to open a great app on their device and use it. The language or style by which it was built is immaterial.Impressive post...well said. Watch out for Alpha Five Version 12 development tools!!! |
OP, try alpha five software on alphasoftware.com. Watch the overview video on ; http://www.alphasoftware.com/platform/2minuteoverview.asp?hsCtaTracking=0ed23c81-6979-4363-867d-bf1b242a34d8%7C66dd2c75-2a29-408a-9723-2d6b877af95b You wont regret it. |
I will also like to be part of your team. My email is abiodunode@aol.com. |
Tell them...all they show muscle on is arguing which programming language is superior. Moreso, they also feel cool battling wt java codes for days or even weeks. Most times I laugh when i read posts of people who called themselves programmers here. |
O ga ju... |
Waoh!!! This is the best thread so far in Programming section. I laugh at times when i read about lots of topics here especially when they start talking about supremacy of software tools among Java, Ruby on rails, Php, VB, dotNet, Perl etc etc. I just assume they enjoy the fallacy of feeling great inside having written 20 pages of codes without actually deriving any financial value from it. Well, I also think maybe there are probably no bill to pay anyway. The truth is, you have to be solution focussed. Be a problem solver not a giant in coding. Solving problems would put food on your table not hours of CODING. The functionality that your 20-page codes achieved could as well be achieved with some few mouse clicks using some sophisticated tools now available without writing any line of code. So, why re-inventing the wheel? These new tools allow you to concentrate on solving business logic rather than wasting productive time on coding just to achieve "CRUD". The other time there was a software contest here on nairaland, I saw the thread prior to a long-haul flight and finished the whole solution during the flight. It was a tug of war here just because the tool I used is not as famous as the likes of java, C++ etc. Is it about Java or about providing a solution? The future of software development is such that non-techies would be able to develop sophisticated business / mission-critical applications without writing a single line of code. The earlier you start positioning yourself the better. You dont have to believe it but that is the truth. You dont need to believe in gravity but it exerts on you by default. Shalom!!! |
I can assure you that they are probably the safest to fly now having passed all the stringent conditions. |
