sarrki: Everest Amaefule, Abuja
The Federal Government will today (Thursday) commence activities preparatory to the issuance of N100bn non-interest bearing Islamic bond, better known as sukuk.
A statement issued by the Debt Management Office in Abuja on Wednesday said a national roadshow to be led by the Director-General of the DMO, Ms. Patience Oniha, would begin today (Thursday).
The N100bn targeted from the bond is one of the sources of funding the 2017 budget.
Sukuk is structured in such a way as to generate returns to investors without infringing Islamic law that prohibits riba or interest.
It represents undivided shares in the ownership of tangible assets relating to particular projects or special investment activity.
The roadshow will visit major cities like Kano, Kaduna, Lagos and Port Harcourt. Also to be involved in the show are financial advisers to the issue, Lotus Capital Financial Services Limited and FBN Merchant Bank Plc.
According to the DMO, the roadshow is to create awareness about the sovereign sukuk and sensitise target investors to the features and benefits of the sovereign sukuk.
The DMO had earlier announced its intention to issue a sovereign sukuk in the domestic market as part of measures to fund the 2017 budget deficit.
Apart from serving as alternative source of funding for the government, the sukuk is expected to serve to diversify the investor base for FGN Securities, promote financial inclusion and deepen the domestic capital market.
Proceeds from the sukuk issuance, according to the DMO, will be used to finance specific road projects.
The DMO explained, “Sukuk are asset-based securities and not debt instruments, and represent ownership in a tangible asset, service, project, business or joint venture. This is why sukuk fits into our debt strategy of borrowing to finance capital projects contained in the budget.
“This ensures that government borrowings are used to finance development projects, which have multiple economic and social benefits for citizens.”

ridbay: https://static.ynaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/15080911/Minister-for-Power-Works-Babatunde-Fashola.png
The Senate on Wednesday asked Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) to resign his appointment if he was overwhelmed by the volume of work at his ministry.
The upper chamber accused Fashola of misleading the public over projects it added to the budget.
At the plenary, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Danjuma Goje said, “Initially, I wanted to come under a motion but, yesterday, the House of Representatives took up the matter. Since we are on the same page with the House, I feel I should not come under a motion. But I will like to seize this opportunity to advise the minister that he should remember that he is now a minister and should behave like a minister.
“He is not a governor (anymore) and this National Assembly is not Lagos State House of Assembly. This is an Assembly composed of very patriotic Nigerians, very experienced Nigerians; many had done his job; many were governors before him.”
Goje continued, “Fashola should know that he is dealing with the National Assembly of Nigeria, not of Lagos. If the job is too much for him – the ministry is too big; it comprises three ministries, which are works, housing and power; if he cannot adjust, then, he should do the honourable thing. He should so the needful.
“No amount of blackmail by him; no amount of propaganda by him or his surrogates will stop this National Assembly from discharging its duties in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution. We have sworn to uphold and protect this Constitution, and this we will do to the end of this Assembly.
“For now, I will cease fire and watch to see how the House will handle him. If he is well handled there, we will leave him with them. But if we are not satisfied and they pass him to us, then, we will take him over.”
Saraki, in his remarks, said the Senate would wait for actions taken by the House of Representatives.
“I am happy that the House of Representatives are also taking up this issue. It is a matter that we must be responsible, especially those at the (executive) cabinet to look at issues from a national point of view in the interest of all Nigerians.
“We will definitely wait for the outcome of his appearance before the House of Representatives before further contributions. But we have take your comment, Chairman of Appropriations,” he said.

PapaBrowne: The thing tire me oh.
To understand the motive behind this new curriculum, simply ask yourself these questions:
How many French teachers are there in Nigeria for the over 30 million Nigerian students. The answer is zero.
How many Arabic teachers are there for the over 30 million Nigerian students. The answer is that in every mosque in Nigeria, the Imam is an Arabic scholar. Meaning there is more than enough Arabic teachers most of whom would be Imams.
Since either French or Arabic is compulsory and there are no French Teachers but numerous Arabic teachers, all Christian students would be left no choice but take Arabic classes from an Imam who will teach them lots of lessons about Mohammed and the religion of peace! Family › Re: My Wife Is Pregnant, I Don't Know If Its With My Baby. by abdulkabirO(m): 6:58am On Jun 30, 2017 |
Û MemphisRaynes: Hi, please I need honest and mature contribution on this matter. I love my wife so much, and I don't want to have a failed marriage, not so early.
My marriage is only 18months old. This is my wife's first Pregnancy, but I am having serious concerns about the paternity of the baby.
I trust(ed) my wife with all my heart and soul. She was away on a Job training for 6 months. The training finished on May 19th and we made love same day. She told me she last saw her period in May 16th so we both assumed she was in her safe period by May 19th before we made love. Actually we didn't want pregnancy or a baby yet because we are strained by resources for now.
My wife started complaining of strong tummy pain, plus her period hadn't shown up by June 12, so we went for a Pregnancy test and she was confirmed Pregnant. In fact the Lab attendant told me she is very pregnant. Days after I went through her chat while she was asleep and came across her chat with some guy, the chat was very suspicious. Actually the said guy is a Gynecologist, so she had told him she was Pregnant immediately after the test so as to get medical advice. In this chat the guy called my wife "luv", "dearie", talked about she visiting him, and my wife's response was to play along. At some point she even said she can't wait to visit the guy. The height of it was when the guy asked "how is our baby doing?"
I could not control my emotions after reading their chat, so I confronted my wife. She claim the guy was her best friend, that they met at her training. Actually she has always freely spoken to the guy via phone in my presence before this event so I had no suspicions until I read their chat. We quarrelled and she cried and cried swearing that she has never been with any man but me. She said she was heart broken I am doubting the paternity of her Pregnancy.
On June 26th, we were at the hospital for ultrasound scan and medical check up. The Ultra sound scan report says the pregnancy was 7weeks and 6days on June 26th. Now remember we first met on May 19th after about 6 months, also remember May 19th was three days after her period ended, she was supposed to be in her safe period. Now Let's assume she conceived on May 19th, between May 19th and June 26th is not upto 7weeks and 6days. Again I confronted her with these facts and she's been very emotional, she threatened that we must do paternity test after the baby is born to prove me wrong, she also warned that she will make my life hell after that test for doubting her faithfulness to me.
Please I don't know what to do next, my doubt is not fading because the numbers and events don't add up, I need useful suggestions please. Kindly note that I trust and love my wife, a part of me believes the baby is mine, its the maths that don't add up, and her chat with her Gynecologist best friend that keeps fueling my doubt. What is the best way to handle my situation? My advise to you my brother is that, you should trust your own self first, if you are in doubt and you can't confirm your doubts with facts it will remain with you forever In fact anytime she wants to go out you will always suspect her,so just carry out the paternity test so qs to certify if it is your baby or someone else,if you don't and it not your baby, one day the father will come and it might be a big disaster then |

Olafashion: Man apprehended for raping his 13-year-old sister-in-law
A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his wife's younger sister in Ogun state. Kingsley Chigbo, 35, reportedly molested the 13-year-old relative at Ijoko town, Ogun state. Chigbo's crime was exposed following an enlightenment talk given by the Child Protection Network, CPN, to students of Bannis College, Ijoko Ota. After the talk, the victim approached the staff of CPN who gave the talk and informed of how her elder sister's husband has been forcefully having sex with her after which he would threaten to kill her if she told anyone. The incident was then reported to the police at Sango Ota Divisional Headquarters by Peju Osoba, the immediate past Ogun State Coordinator of Child Protection Network, CPN, and the suspect was arrested.
The police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed this to Premium Times and revealed that when the suspect was confronted by the victim, he owned up to his crimes. Further investigation is being carried out after which the suspect will be charged to court.

I don't condone any form of evil but it's high time we stopped condemning our fellow Christians and making caricature of them no matter what. It gives the Muslim brothers room to insult us.
Do you think if any Muslim cleric is caught red handed with a girl/woman in a hotel that the news will see the light of the day?
Do you think the Muslim Nairalanders are foo.lish when they put a creed on any Muslim thread which they refused to put on Christian thread? It is because they do not want non-Muslims to insult their faith but find joy in insulting other people's faith (some of them shaa).
Someone once said here on Nairaland that since we Christians joke with everything about us, they have no option than to join us in joking with it too, but since they don't joke with theirs, we should also not joke with theirs.
Let him that have ear hear the word.
Edited: For those quoting me... I am not saying we should cover up the sins of our pastors, but non-Christians shouldn't help to make jest of it. I lived a better part of me in the Northern part of Nigeria. I know how sinful some of these Muslims are, both their men and women, but you won't hear them broadcast it everywhere. Factfinder1: The former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode took to his social media page some weeks ago to reveal that there was more to the T.B. Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN’s collapse.
The former Minister who in his tweet pointed that there was an aircraft hovering over the building claimed that the aircraft had a thing to do with the church building collapse.
He further noted that he was going to reveal more as time goes by.
The revelation comes after the former minister had last year made shocking claims that some major plane crash in the country were the handiwork and master plan of some Nigerian leaders who needed blood to perform rituals.
Recall that the former Aviation minister had on his social media page written: “There are strong speculations that Prophet T.B. Joshua’s church was brought down by a remote-control device and not a faulty foundation.”
The Former aviation minister’s stand however comes shockingly in contrast to the legal case filed agaisnt the religious body by the Lagos state government.
Femi Fani Kayde in his revelations also made to reveal that the helicopter crash which resulted in the death of Kaduna Governor, Patrick Yakowa and Nigeria’s former national security advisor, Gen Azazi, in 2012 was a planned attack as he claimed the helicopter was “brought down by a similar device and by the same people.”
Femi Fani Kayode added: “They were inspired, sponsored and encouraged by certain forces from outside government.
“The objective was to weaken Jonathan and ultimately to get him out of power.”
Bringing the matter in relation to current happenings, the politician noted that the attack o Apostle Suleman was also an orchestrated attempt to drag the cleric’s name in the mud by the same group responsible for the previous attacks.

Some of those buildings had a foundation of two storey buildings and they now added extra ones on it, some 3,4 and even 5,so why would it collapse I wonder why FFK a graduate of law can't ruminate the connection of an helicopter and collapse of a whole building even when work was going on. If there was a substance that was poured over the building, it was suppose to have eradicated the whole thing both the new and the old More so, if the Church doesn't have anything fishy, why did they lie that just 80 people died,it was the south African Govt that said that about 80 of their own people died, before the LG govt said note than 20 died The issue with that church building collapse is more than that nonsense FFK saying and if not because GEJ Stopped the investigation politically, maybe we would have known the truth by now It's because your family didn't die there ,if not FFK won't be talking all this rubbish, bunch of hypocrites |

ofwest47: It is unfortunate that the Niger Delta militants are directing their violent activities to the wrong channels, from what I watched on the Aljazeera TV channel recently and from the level of devastations and people still living in stone age despite the fact that Niger Delta is what is known as Nigeria till date I would have been membership of the militant group if I had been a Niger Deltan but with different direction. The extreme devastation being witnessed in Niger Delta are the work of the extra ordinarily corrupt leadership that have been leading the Niger Deltans from inceptions Starting from the ruling Governors, to the political representatives at all the houses : the two houses of the National Assembly ,the state houses of assembly, the local government and all those who branded themselves as local leaders as all these people are super rich Or how do you imagine a former retired Permanent Secretary who claimed to be Ijaw leader now having a private University and several other multi billion Naira businesses. What about the case of a so called militant leader having private primary, secondary and University in a foreign land. The case of the political leaders from the Governors to the assembly representatives at the national, state, and local government level and to the least counselors all these are super rich at expense of the poverty stricken of more than 99% of the entire population of Niger Delta . The governors, former and serving are rich enough to even convert the entire states into private properties. What about a former first lady who became billion dollars. Get to Abuja the most expensive houses in special areas are owned by Niger Delta thieves who claimed to be leaders of their people. Banana Island in Lagos is another destination of Niger Delta embezzler leaders. So with what I saw on Aljazeera TV channel if I had been a Niger Deltan I would have joined a militant group and our major assignment would have been to deal decisively with our so called leaders who have led the entire region back to the stone age why they and their immediate families are living in extreme affluence. How then is it meaningful to tag the whole Muslims terrorist when those perpetrating this devilish acts are not even up to 0.00000001% of the world Muslim population of about 2billion In the world of Robert Mugabe,it is only in South Africa that an illiterate farmer in the bush will accuse an educated medical doctor that you are responsible for my joblessness the whole world should see the hypocrisy that are been perpetrated against Muslims, even when it is Cristal clear from all dimension that Islam has nothing to do with killings of innocent people all over the world say that name bro...xenophobia is terrorism...it is just a synonym..we have to perceive the South Africans as terrorist too |

Towncrier247: Those men who go round bragging how they deflowered a lady should read this message. Get this loud and clear, Eh! Eh!
http://www.newseveryhour.com/2017/03/heres-message-for-guys-who-go-around.html even if i dont support that dirty thing of bragging after the whole show, the assertion that he is a like a BARMAN is quite immoral and unethical and in fact misleading, we should all embrace purity and no sex before marriage at least our ladies should wise up and stop throwing their bodies to the chest of men,if you hold yourself and prove your worth that man wont have the audacity to spit any rubbish |
