1) Capital Punishment Crimes:

Kill People Who Don’t Listen to Priests

Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

Kill Witches

You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)

Kill Homosexuals
“If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.” (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

Kill Fortunetellers

A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

Death for Hitting Dad

Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)

Death for Cursing Parents

1) If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness. (Proverbs 20:20 NAB)

2) All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT)

Death for Adultery

If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT)

Death for Fornication

A priest’s daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death. (Leviticus 21:9 NAB)

Death to Followers of Other Religions

Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB)

Kill Nonbelievers

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

Kill the Entire Town if One Person Worships Another God

Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. “The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him.” (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT)

Kill Women Who Are Not Virgins On Their Wedding Night

But if this charge is true (that she wasn’t a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father’s house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB)

Kill Followers of Other Religions.

1) If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you. You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)

2) Suppose a man or woman among you, in one of your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, has done evil in the sight of the LORD your God and has violated the covenant by serving other gods or by worshiping the sun, the moon, or any of the forces of heaven, which I have strictly forbidden. When you hear about it, investigate the matter thoroughly. If it is true that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, then that man or woman must be taken to the gates of the town and stoned to death. (Deuteronomy 17:2-5 NLT)
Christianity EtcHypocricy Of The Christian Dominated Media by abdulkabirO(op): 12:51pm On Jan 30, 2017
If the Mosque shooting in Quebec, Canada, which left 6 Muslim worshipers dead and several others injured were to take place in a church or night club, the social media would have been on fire disparaging Muslims and vituperating Islam.

And for the first time, someone (the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau) has labeled an attack on us a "terrorist attack on Muslims".

Allah be praised.

TravelRe: FG Plans Upgrade Of Airports’ Landing Systems by abdulkabirO(m): 5:41pm On Dec 29, 2016
davbravo:
The Federal Government on Thursday said plans were underway to upgrade the Instrument Landing Systems at the country’s major airports to ensure that they are working better.
This is with a view to minimising the sort of flight disruptions that had featured every harmattan season in the country.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement announcing the suspension of President Muhammadu Buhari’s scheduled one-day working visit to Bauchi State.

Shehu attributed the trip’s postponement to what he called prevailing weather conditions in the country.
He quoted the Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, as announcing the planned upgrade while reacting to the bad weather that forced Buhari to postpone the trip.
The presidential spokesman said, “Uncooperative weather which has been the bane of air travel in the current harmattan season, leading to the delay and cancellation of flights, reared its head in Abuja Airport this (Thursday) morning, preventing the take-off of the President’s plane for the trip to Bauchi.
“Technical information received from the weather station showed that visibility as at this (Thursday) morning was 600 meters, 200 metres short of the 800 metres minimally required for a safe aircraft take-off.
“According to the information available, the visibility was expected to drop to 300 metres before improving to permissible limit later in the day.

“The commander of the Presidential Air Fleet, Air Commodore Hassan Abubakar, said that the Presidential Aircraft was in perfect condition, the weather in Bauchi was alright, but that the problem was in Abuja.”
In cancelling the visit to the state, Shehu said the President expressed regret over the disruption caused by the bad weather.
He said Buhari, in a recorded audio and video message to the people of the state said he looked forward to the visit in the course of which he was to commission an Air Force medical facility and a number of other projects by the state government.
He said he also intended to thank the people for their relentless support in all his political undertakings.
“We make our plans, God makes His own plans,” the President was quoted as saying.
Buhari thanked the government and people of Bauchi State and the Nigerian Air Force for the studious and elaborate preparations made to receive him, and assured them that he is going to visit the state at a more auspicious time.

Christianity EtcNo Compromise In The Issues Of Faith by abdulkabirO(op): 3:10pm On Dec 28, 2016
Before the advent of the colonial masters, Nigeria was a heterogeneous society, diverse in kind, nature, component ,system,Religion and ethnicity
In 1914, the historic amalgamation took place, the northern and the southern protectorate were merged
Islam as a religion and as a way of life, source of divine guidance has been official religion of the Hausas. this has been their religion and way of life for more than 300 years before the advent of colonialism, even the yorubas had contact with Muslims from the Mali empire in the 14th century, the colonial masters didn't consider all this heterogeneous factor and they decided to join all of us, together as one country in 1914
Recently ,the Nigerian senate has been considering a bill about gender equality especially to issues like inheritance. that a female should take what the male takes, that a wife can also inherit all the husband's properties if the children allow.
To me,I think this is where diversity sets in,some times when people talk about respecting our different religions,i wonder if the Nigerian populace has ever respected Islam and the shari'ah at large, many a time when issues like this come in, our brothers in CAN begin to raise hypocritical eyebrows about how the Muslims are been favored, then i wonder where is the favoritism lies, Islam has been in Nigeria donkey years before Christianity and the common law.
How do we expect the north especially the sokoto caliphate to change their ways just like that or how they lived before they were colonized just because we now have a constitution that doesn't give room for their school of thought
the best thing we can do avoid crisis is to allow each religion use her own source of guidance, and any religion that doesn't have a law originally can use any one it likes, the sheriah that was the first to be used in the sokoto caliphate, the core north and even some places in Yoruba land cannot just be wiped or abandoned,
In the issue of inheritance for example, the Islamic law requires that the woman takes half for what the man takes,(Quran 4 vs 11)In Islam a woman has no financial obligation and the economical responsibility lies on the shoulders of the man.
* Before a woman is married it is the duty of the father or brother to look after the lodging, boarding, clothing and other financial requirements of the woman.
* After she is married it is the duty of the husband or the son.
* Islam holds the man financially responsible for fulfilling the needs of his family. In order to do be able to fulfill the responsibility the men get double the share of the inheritance.
For example, if a man dies and after giving the shares of other relatives, if the children (i.e one son and one daughter) inherit N150,0000the son will
inherit One Hundred Thousand Naira and the
daughter only Fifty Thousand Naira.
Out of the one hundred thousand which the son inherits, as his duty towards his family, he may have to spend on them almost the entire amount or say about eighty thousand and thus he has a small percentage of inheritance, say about twenty thousand, left for himself.
On the other hand, the daughter, who inherits fifty thousand, is not bound to spend a single penny on anybody. She can keep the entire amount for herself. Would you prefer inheriting one hundred thousand Naira and spending eighty thousand from it, or inheriting fifty thousand rupees and having the entire amount to yourself?
Islam gave the right to the women to inherit. In several Verses of the Qur’an - in several verses, it is mentioned that a woman, irrespective she is a wife or she is a mother, or a sister, or a daughter, she has a right to inherit. And it has been fixed by Allah Almighty in the Qur’an....(nairaland)
All those that will inherit the deceased are all already stipulated in the Quran and even practiced by the early Muslims, this has been in constant practice before the advent of the common law and all other laws,we cant come in 2016 and say we have to follow the common law that doesn't have any heavenly back up, humans like you and I are the architect of these laws, so perhaps we want to talk about religious freedom or religion plurality, the Islamic law should be considered first before making any law in Nigeria so as not to cause pandemonium to the Nigerian Muslim populace. If we preach peace,it should not be at the expense of our religion.

N4.7b fraud: I gave Fayose $5.377m in cash – Obanikoro
by Yusuf Alli, Managing Editor, Northern Operation, October 18, 2016 at 7:45 pm in News Update FacebookTwitterSMSWhatsApp
Barely 24 hours after his detention, former Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro has implicated Governor Ayodele Fayose in the N4.745billion wired to a company linked to him by the Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA).
The said cash was wired into the company, Sylva Mcnamara within seven months in 2014.
He said N2.23billion was transferred to Fayose out of the slush funds.
He said out of the sum, he handed over $5,377,000 to Fayose in cash and N1.3billion was received by the governor’s associate, Mr. Abiodun Agbele.
He admitted that the N1.3billion was flown to Akure airport in two chartered flights for delivery to Agbele.
The money was sourced from $2.1billion meant for arms from the Office of the National Security (ONSA).
Obanikoro, who opened up to EFCC detectives however said he is not the owner of Sylva Mcnamara that was used to transfer the funds to Fayose.
But he defended why the money was remitted to Mcnamara including the warding off of a plot by Boko Haram to attack Lagos.
Accompanied by his lawyer, Mr. James Onoja(SAN), the ex-Minister was confronted with a petition from ONSA which was dated November 28, 2015.
The petition was titled “Payment to companies with no contract awards or approval.”
He said having gone through the petition, he discovered that Sylva Mcnamara was No. 78 on the list of firms being investigated having “collected the aggregate sum of N4,685,000,000 between April 4, 2014 and November 13, 2014.
A top source quoted Obanikoro as saying that “the sum of N2.2billion was transferred to Sylva Mcnamara for onward transfer to Mr. Ayodele Fayose on the instruction of the NSA.
“The sum of N1.3billion cash was brought in a bullion van by Diamond Bank on the instruction of the NSA.
“In addition, the sum of N60million was converted to dollars at the rate of N168 per dollar and altogether the sum of $5,377,000 was handed over in cash by me to Mr. Fayose while the N1.3billion was received by Mr. Fayose’s associate, Mr. Abiodun Agbele in the presence of my Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Lt. Adewale who also accompanied them to the bank along with the bank officials.
“I didn’t interact with the bank officials. I called Fayose before the funds were handed over to Mr. Abiodun Agbele. I spoke to Fayose with my phone at Akure airport.”
On how the cash was transferred to Fayose, the source Obanikoro told investigators that “two flights were used to convey the money from Lagos.
The ex-Minister said he “ took off with the first flight with part of the money while the second flight brought the remaining funds to Akure local airport and I directed that it should be handed over to the same person.”
The source said Obanikoro however maintained that part of the cash was used to ward off Boko Haram aggression in Lagos and in the South-West in general.
The source added: “He told us that he is “ not the owner of the company in question but introduced the owner, Mr. Kareem Taiwo to the NSA, Mr. Sambo Dasuki when the threat of Boko Haram became more visible in Lagos.
“He said the government wanted to “incorporate local input into the intelligence gathering and prevention of terrorist attack on Lagos and the South-West in general.”
The EFCC had discovered that Sylvan Mcnamara Limited, allegedly owned by Obanikoro and his sons, was used to launder the N4.745billion.
The company, which was incorporated in November 2011 had the following as its directors: a close aide of the ex-Minister, Ikenna Ezekwe(700,000 shares) of 51 Simpson Street, Ebute-Metta; Idowu Oshodi(299,000 shares) of 8, Prince Tayo Adesanya Street, Park View Estate, Ikoyi; and Elizabeth Adebiyi(1,000 shares) of 3, Adedoyin Street, Ijeshatedo, Surulere.
But Ikenna Ezekwe has had his accounts de-frozen by the EFCC since the slush funds were not traced to him.

PoliticsRe: Lagos State Government's Terrorism Against Igbos by abdulkabirO(m): 5:35pm On Aug 05, 2016
ImperialYoruba:
here is no doubt that ethnic relationship in Lagos is under threat and this is purely as a result of the utterances and action of the Lagos state government, Yoruba supremacists and the Oba of Lagos. For some understandable but unacceptable reasons, they have resorted to the politics of hate and discrimination and the Igbos as always, have been at the receiving end.

After being driven away from the North under the guise of Boko Haram because some of them voted for Jonathan, it would seem that some people in Lagos state have decided t it is time to turn on them for simulate reasons.

I am alarmed at the way Igbos are singled out for discriminatory treatment and often the target of hate crimes for no other reason that they have succeeded where their persecutors have failed. It is time to do something about it, before it degenerates into ethnic cleansing and another pogrom.

The Mushin market was developed by Igbos. The closure of the marked and the threat to bulldoze it, while the goods of the traders are still inside, it, is not only a calculated act of wickedness from very hateful and prejudiced hearts, driven by envy and greed, but a shameless attempt to forcefully acquiring what another person has worked for.

It is attempt to hide behind the law to dispossess Igbos of what they worked very hard for, reminiscent of the dispossession of Jews of their possessions in Nazi Germany.

This is another unlawful action in what is evolving as a calculated plan, to subjugate and intimidate Igbos in Lagos in the continuing pogrom against Igbos in Nigeria.

The recent flame of ethnic hatred against Igbos, fanned by the likes of Femi Fani-Kayode, Dr Abraham Ariyo and Oba of Lagos, is gathering strength.

The victimisation of Igbos in Lagos continues and the rest of Nigeria keep silent. What excuse can any democratic government have to act against law abiding citizens of Nigeria in Lagos, in the way and manner, the Lagos government has acted against Igbos?

What is the excuse for a civil government to act in such autocratic, irresponsible and inhumane manner?

The singling out of any ethnic group in a multiethnic nation for some unfair treatment, is almost always both the foundation of its failure and the beginning of its disintegration.

This is because no people can build a safe, strong and united nation, without paying serious attention to justice as fairness and equality of all under the law.

The attempt to exploit Igbos, who are the nation builders if Nigeria unfairly, or hide under the smoke screen of the law and power to persecute them in anyway, undermines the foundation and viability of Nigeria. Igbos are the glue that hold Nigeria together. The are the ones who build outside their ethnic region, if they disinvest and head to the East, Nigeria will cease to exist. If the prejudice and discrimination and persecution against them continues, this will become inevitable.

It has happened in Iraq, Sudan, Syria, and Yugoslavia, to mention only but three. It will happen in Nigeria, no matter how loud those who are benefiting from the status shout that Nigeria must remain one, if the persecution and targeting of Igbos for discriminatory treatment, is not brought to an end in places like Lagos.

With the closure of the The Market in Mushin, where the traders are predominantly Igbos and without regard to their rights as free citizens of Nigeria, the ethnic divide in Nigeria is being widened. Igbos established the Market and those driven by greed, jealousy and ethnic prejudice must be compelled by the law.

Such people do not stop, unless they are stopped. Their aim is to destroy those they hate. Hitler did not stop and I do not see those behind the closure of Mushin market stopping, until they have thrown Igbos into Lagos into the Lagoon as the have threatened. Only God knows how many they have already thrown into the Lagoon.

Igbos must take this development seriously, those who forget history, only live to repeat it.

Africa is still very underdeveloped and minds of the people, who perpetrate ethnic atrocities are dominated by traditional beliefs, religious beliefs and ethnic prejudice.

They find it difficult to be fair to people who are not either of the same ethnic group with them, or share the same religion. Theirs' is a primitive mindset, dominated by greed, hate and pride, which have very little place for tolerance, equality and fairness.

Therefore, those at risk of ethnic prejudice and unfair treatment must make effort to protect themselves. The world always arrived too late to the scene if genocide.

In my view, it is time for Igbos with investment outside Igboland to begin to repatriate them to places where they would not be targeted because they are Igbos.

Igbo leaders must now fight for Enugu, Port Harcourt and Calabar airports and port Harcourt and Calabar seaports to get the same licence and consideration as Lagos airport and Lagos Apapa seaport to attract more airlines, and ships so that Igbos engaged in international trades trips, are not compelled to travel via Lagos.

Lagos has benefited and flourished because of the privileges and monopoly it enjoys and it is time to level the playing grounds so that human effort and ingenuity will determine the outcome.

This would seem to be the the fair response under the circumstance. There is enough land between Port Harcourt and Asaba to contain all Igbos in Nigeria, if Lagos state government, the Oba of Lagos and Boko Haram wants to continue their terrorism against Igbos.

Igbos must now realise that no one can make another to love him or her, if the person has chosen to hate people like him or her. Nigeria's ethnic divid is deep, Igbos continue to ignore at our peril.

A cripple should not die in a war that everybody saw coming. Locking a market developed by Igbos and depriving families of means of their livelihood is a targeted act of terrorism against Igbos, which should have no place in a multiethnic democracy like Nigeria. It is a cold and calculated act of wickedness and an audacious attention at wealth grab.

It simply and clearly demonstrated that the perpetrators do not give the same consideration they give to those who share the same ethnic group with them to those who do not.

It is a targeted act of persecution, victimisation and terrorism against Igbos because of who they are. It is wrong. It should be unacceptable and should not be justified or condoned, if Nigeria will survive as a United country.

This is the time to address it. We should not wait, until area boys get orders from the Oba of Lagos, to begin to throw Igbo traders, who are protesting glaring injustice into the lagoon, or the police gets order from the governor to shot them.

What is happening in Lagos is another way to oppress and extort money from Igbos. It is and act ethnic cleansing and persecution and reminds me of how Nazi Germans were treating German Jews in the 1930s.

What use is a country which can sympathise with you, but can do nothing to help redress the injustice you suffer? Where are the so called Igbo Leaders?

This should be a turning point for Igbos who think we will escape the fate of Jews in Germany, if we continue to do nothing, while this pogrom continues.

I do not think I wish to continue to be part of a Nigeria, where Igbos are constant targets of discriminations and victimisation for exercising their rights to hold political opinion and support the party of their choice in the way and manner they have been targeted in Lagos.

It is time for Buhari to demonstrate that he is president of Nigeria and would protect all ethnic groups and for all who believe in freedom, justice and equality to speak out and do all in their power to bring back the Lagos state government and Oba of Lagos to the path of law, civility, justice as fairness and equality. These are the bedrocks of any viable nations.

There is dignity in silence.

This Keshi's son should learn how to close his mouth,so he does not turn our sympathy for his family into a political discuss.

Your father has not even been buried, and you want to pick a fight with the Government?are you serious?

Nigeria mourns your dad,but we owe him nothing. Your father did not serve Nigeria for free, there are those that died doing things for Nigeria for free, and their family have been gracious not to politicize anything.

There have been hundreds of Corpers, who have died serving this Country. There have been hundreds of Military people who died fighting Boko Haram.

There was Rashidi Yekini and Samuel Okwaraji, and countless others who never got the kind of money your father made from Nigeria, but even served more than him.

Yet you ungrateful lad is still complaining.

What exactly did you want from the Government?when your father left Nigeria,he went to Togo. So what does this mean?it means he was a mercenary who served different countries.

All life is special, and your dad's death is not more important than the death of any other Nigerian.

Go take a look at the videos of Boko Haram slitting the throats of our Soldiers, and yet your father died of a natural cause, far richer than the Soldiers getting their throats slit for the Country.

This over pampered boy should keep his mouth shut, and mourn his dad with dignity.
U said it all bro,u re such an elite,I guess another formal Nigerian coach died some days after ,he went to pay them visit b4 he died, and immediately he was buried according to the Islamic rights, no much noise, why all these one that keshis son is sayin, there re many things FG need to do by playing our priorities right,

It is well,u have the CAN ,they can take up all these cases in court, and sue anyone who they feel is faulty, also the Muslims wearing hijaab is part of their religion and it can't be separated,it is only if we have want to be hypocritical in nature thats when we will say it is not part of their fundamental human rights,if the other religions also have their special attire, let them put it on without making big deal out of all these unambiguous issues,I don't believe hijaab affects a Christians in anyway and also the white garment of the cele ppl doesn't affect Muslims in any way, this is part of tolerance,
As regards those that killed someone for not fasting, the police can always fish out and punish them, what they did is not Islamic,so they can't hide under Islam
The issue about the woman who was preaching that God killed in Abuja,it has not been established that some !Muslims killed her and even if they were the killers, the shld be dealt with equally ,i think it is simple, let's stop making unnecessary noise when it comes to conflicts about religion

At last, Celestial Church of Christ, Worldwide under the leadership of His Eminence, Pastor Mobiyina Oshoffa, has issued an official statement signed by one of the top members of the church, Superior Evangelist (Prof) Bola A. Akinterinwa, fssan, Secretary, BOT, CCC Worldwide condemning the dastardly act of Francis Taiwo who chained and tortured his 9-year-old son….

Official Press Release On Prophet Francis Taiwo Saga
The attention of Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, Pastor and Spiritual Head and the Board of Trustees of the Celestial Church of Christ, has been drawn to media reports concerning the activities of one Prophet Francis Taiwo, Shepherd in Charge, Celestial Church of Christ ( C.C.C ), Key of Joy Parish, Ajiwo at Ajibawo in Ado Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State.

Prophet Francis Taiwo was reported to have chained his nine year old son and starved him of food for months, after the boy was accused of habitual stealing. The nine year old boy was eventually rescued by men of the NSCDC who stormed the church premises for that purpose. Latest reports indicate that the culprit, Prophet Francis Taiwo was later arrested by the police with the help of his church members.

This report has drawn the ire of the public and our great church has been receiving undeserved flaks therefrom. We are therefore compelled to issue this statement to correct whatever misconceptions that might have been created about the church, in the minds of the general public, by this shameful and totally unacceptable incident.
Let it be known that the Celestial Church of Christ does not condone child abuse and violence of any form. We recognise and place a high value on our youths and children as we do acknowledge them as the salt of the earth and a vital part of the future of any given stratum of society, organisation, church or nation.

Our belief is that children therefore must be raised in an atmosphere of love, Christian values and reasonable and acceptable parental discipline. The fact that the said Prophet Francis Taiwo was arrested by the Police with the help of his church members lends credence to the fact that our church abhors child abuse, domestic violence and inhumanity of any form.
We commend the NSCDC and the Nigerian Police for a job promptly well done, and wish to assure the general public that the Celestial Church of Christ is already taking a further look into the matter.

The Celestial Church of Christ avails itself of this opportunity to thank the general public for its concerns. May the good Lord be with you all, Amen.

CrimeRe: Militants Sack Lagos Estate, Shoot Three Policemen. by abdulkabirO(m):
Princehojay:
There was chaos on Tuesday on Pacific Estate, Ikejiobi Avenue, Ewedogbon, in the Igando area of Lagos State after some militants engaged security operatives in a gun battle for about seven hours.

During the encounter, three policemen attached to the Igando Police Division and two residents, identified as Baba Victor and Adedokun, were injured.

Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen, who were suspected to be militants, had invaded the community around 6am through the waterways behind the estate.

They were said to have looted some shops on the estate.

It was learnt that when the matter was reported at the Igando division, a police team was deployed in the area around 8am.

The policemen were said to have engaged the bandits in a gun battle, during which three policemen were shot.

Although one of the policemen was shot in the head, the police said he survived the attack and was receiving treatment in a government hospital.

During the gun battle, some residents were said to have regained their freedom from the militants, who had earlier abducted them.

When our correspondent got to the estate around 9am, four streets – Ojo Benjamin, Kehinde Ashafa, Ganiyu Adekunle and Ikejiobi – had been deserted.

A landlord in the area, who identified himself only as Olayinka, said there were women among the militants, who also looted shops and escaped with foodstuffs.

He said, “The attacks started in Fatoki community, Igando, on Saturday. We did not know it was our turn this morning (Tuesday). At about 6.30am, they came into the estate, shooting and moving around the streets.

“Everyone ran inside and bolted the doors. They caught a resident, Baba Victor, on his motorcycle, and took him away. They cut him with machetes, but he escaped during the gun battle with the police.

“They smashed the vehicles they found on the streets. They broke into shops and stole frozen foods, bags of rice and garri. They were about 15 men. The hoodlums did not cover their faces and there were women among them. Some of us were watching them from our houses.”

While PUNCH Metro was talking with the landlord, gunfire exchange between the operatives and hoodlums sent everyone scurrying to safety again.

Our correspondent observed some residents – women and children – leaving the area at about 2pm.

Soldiers on the streets searched their luggage as they filed out in groups.

One of the women said, “I was sweeping the corridor of my house around 6.30am when people suddenly started running, saying some hoodlums were coming with guns. Immediately I bolted my door, the gunshots started. From the keyhole, I saw four of the men. A boy of about 20 years was in the front. He wore a red cap with coconut in his hand and a charm on his chest. The three others had guns and shot into the air sporadically.”

Thirteen police vans, two Rapid Response Squad armoured tanks and three OP MESA vans were sighted at the bus stop with displaced residents numbering over 200 people.

A policeman, who had gone to the waterside, said the gunmen arrived at the riverside around 6am, adding that they could have collaborators in the estate.

He said, “The attackers are Ijaw youths. They are young, slim and can easily swim away in water. They shot at us and three policemen were injured. They saw us and laid an ambush. When we got to a section of the river, they began to shoot. We replied the bullets. But three policemen were hit and injured.”

When PUNCH Metro left the area by 2.30pm, the gun battle was still ongoing while a suspected hideout of the hoodlums around the waterside was set ablaze.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the police had yet to make any arrest, but normalcy had been restored to the area.

She said, “Some group of people invaded the area in the early hours of Tuesday. Operatives were alerted and moved in to foil the attack. Normalcy has been restored in the vicinity. No policeman died in the incident. The command is still on the trail of the suspects.”

On behalf of the Igbo nation,

We condemn in strongest terms the attacks on Lagos & Ogun states by criminals from the creeks.

We will never support the killing of innocent citizens and destruction of properties.

We also want to send our heartfelt condolensces to the families of the victims and pray that God in His infinite mercies will grant you the fortitude to bear these losses.

The Igbos are a peace loving set of people and once again, we condemn the attacks on our Yoruba brothers by criminals from the creeks.

We want to use this medium to call on the security agencies to rise up and do their job.

It is such a shame that after the first attack, nothing was done to prevent the second attack which was of a bigger scale and took more casualties.

Christianity EtcRe: Why We Attacked Catholic Church In Suleja - Suspect Reveals by abdulkabirO(m): 5:45pm On Jul 24, 2016
AN 18-year old suspect, Abba Usman, who allegedly participated in the recent attack by some Muslim youths on St. Philips Catholic Church, Suleja, Niger State, has ruled out religious extremism for his gang’s action.

Rather, the suspect, who said he hailed from Manumfachi in Katsina State, stated that some female members of the church should be blamed for playing musical instruments so loud, dancing and making noise while a Juma’at prayer was going on at the mosque opposite the church on Friday, July 15.

He stated this last Thursday when he was paraded by Niger State Police Command in Minna.

The suspect with no fixed address, who also claimed to be a scavenger of scraps on refuse dumps at Suleja and its environs, added that shortly after the Juma’at prayers on the fateful day, he and other youths went to the church premises to attack the church over what he described as the effrontery of the congregation to disturb the peace of the mosque while prayers were going on.

“We went to the church to teach them a bitter lesson so that they will never disturb the peace of the mosque again, especially on a Friday when we are having a prayer. They have the whole of Sunday to themselves and we have never disturbed them from doing their own programmes,” he said.

The suspect told Crime Reports that female members of the church fled in different directions on sighting the youths while the security guard who refused to leave his duty post was severely beaten.

“We all entered the church and vandalised some of their property, while we took some of their musical instruments and other valuables. I went for two of the microphones with the aim of selling them, but I was not lucky as I was caught with them,” the suspect stated.

While addressing journalists, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, described the action of the the youth that attacked the church as criminal, disclosing that police received a distress call that Friday at about 2:00p.m that some youths were vandalising the property of the church.

“On the receipt of that complaint, we sent our Rapid Response Team to the scene but before the police team got there, many of the youth had fled. However, Abah Usman was caught in action,” he said.

He pointed out that it was clear that the intent of the hoodlums was not religious but to steal, as the suspect was arrested with two microphones stolen from the church, while others went away with other items.

He added that the state Police Commissioner, Abubakar Marafa, had ordered that the police operatives should clear the hoodlums’ hideouts and prosecute any suspect arrested in connection with the case.http://tribuneonlineng.com/attacked-church-members-disturbing-us-music-jumaat-prayer-suspect/[/quot

CrimeNigeria Media Reality by abdulkabirO(op): 5:35pm On Jul 24, 2016
*Nigerian Media: Truth versus Reality*

In the past few days, the hearts of genuine citizens of our great nation have bled over the news of the killing of a female Christian preacher by alleged Muslim fanatics in Kubwa area of the FCT, Abuja. I was actually alerted by a friend's text message because although i reside in the affected area, i was far away in Ibadan, Oyo State, as at the time of the incident.

As an average concerned Nigerian, i thought, when will this nation be free from religious and ethnic crises? But as a journalist and one with eye for investigation, I knew I had a duty at hand. So, on my return to the city, i visited the particular street, the particular spot, conducted personal investigation and secret interviews, and made several findings. I became sad! Why? Most of the information doled out by our media are NOT TRUE! For the avoidance of doubt, there was no evidence of anyone present when the woman died. Witnesses only said they met her dead.

Secondly, I did not find anyone to confirm that any part of the woman was missing or mutilated. I talked with one who saw the corpse early that morning, with two policemen, before the news went viral.

Thirdly, there was no mosque in that street or behind the spot(!).

Fourthly, the vicinity had been under the torment of cultism in the past few months, in fact, two separate persons were found killed and dumped in the area recently, one of them on the street adjacent this particular one.

The police is actually on the trail of s notorious cult who is believed to have sneaked into and hiding in the area. The police is insisting that they met the corpse body intact.

But, alas! What my colleagues wrote were terrifying. In fact, it revived hatred, instigated religious intolerance and personal mistrust. I am sure many of you journalists who wrote the story were not in Abuja, you just received the news from friends and forwarded to your headquarters, which also did not verify before going to press. I also know that many of those in Abuja then did not visit the place, nor conduct proper investigation. For an issue as critical as religion and ethnicity, most of you goofed!

The media is an indefatigable player in nation building, and no society is firmly built on negligence and mistrust as being displayed by our journalists. But, the media houses too are at fault. Most of them pay peanuts for staff while the few at the top swim in affluence. Where, then, is the resource and motivation for the reporter to carry out investigative reporting and due diligence. To survive, many journalists are pipers in the hands of politicians, religious leaders and businessmen and even government, who dictate their tune.

Yet, the masses are at the receiving end because they naturally hold on to the news from the media. It is a hell a times, to change the people's perception on issues, over which our media had made serious blunders. I had had to show identity cards to some, before they agree to reason along the right perspective. The corruption on the media is much, but our colleagues can just help hold on to the truth.
