And not just any extinguisher. Make sure you get an automotive grade oen. Additionally, and most would laugh, but I carry a larger than the minuscule auto sized one in my cars.
lol! U make me remember the good old days i rolled in VW beetle. It was our those yaers you had to wait severel yrs b4 getting into the uni. after sec sch. we (my friend & i) got harrased always by d FRSC officials so we got the large type used in buildings, It was actually for my frends hse. Since then we nevr had problems with the FRSC again. Teenage life could be interesting. |
German peugeot? pictures and other details? |
Intrestd |
The importance of fire extinguishers cant be overemphasised especially with are modern cars that have so much electronics. |
Ikenna351: I would go for c280 instead. The car is highly powered and got a good review. Find users review in carsurvey:you are right ikenna & Youngboss. Let me add that the v6 which came later has slightly more hp than the inline 6 Which was in ealier versions.(4hp more i think) and better mpg was achieved; if it matters. If you dont mind the super charged(kompressor) d 230 thay say achieves 194hp just as d v6. |
@ Trac i know d 500 isnt easy to maintain so d c43 wouldnt be easy as well. I didnt mean they are easy to maintain. I dont know where talktimi intend to source his cheap parts and dont know how wrong he is so i didnt criticise him. thanks for correcting the impression i had that older model parts are readily available. @ Talktimi, the ball is i your court. c43 is Sure a great car but using it comes with a price. |
talktimi: only rave reviews so far, someone said its "built like a tank" I've also come across "built to last forever" and relatively cheap parts can be gotten online. This particular model was from 1998 - 2000 and has been described as one of the last hand built AMGs. There are other fancier more beautiful specs of mercedes in the market especially after 2000 but if you prefer ruggedity, this is the car for you as well as other C class series of the 90s.they say its next to w124 e500. May be they share some similarities in terms of maintainance, not in terms of price but ease of maitanance. Getting a decent mechanic myt be more of the challenge. Mercedes part are readily available even for much older models, so getting replacement part wouldnt be much of an issue. again pls lets start a thread on d C43. We would definately get useful inputs. NLanders a very resourceful. |
Nop! what makes u think that way? You thought i was angry? not at all ,emphasy here is pointed to my search frustration for the damn thing that so badly needed at the time
oh! So i thot. Sorry for misunderstandin you. Ikenna sometyms ago changed his but dont know whch brand a frend of his in d US recomended nd got it for him. He could help. even tho d guy na LION! |
talktimi: definitely thirsty, quoted at 16cty/21hwy which is fair to me. Just curious about its availability & pricing in Nigeria.did you find anything useful on those links. have made up your mind on c43. Its a beautiful ride. |
Trac, you couldn't have looked for it more than i did, but to no avail. Besides, i couldn't do without a thermostat, read my comment above.
i dont get it did Trac say anything wrong? |
talktimi: thanks bro, sorry for derailing the thread.you are welcome. I am sure its not your intention to derail the thread. Pls keep the house informed a lot of experience and knowledge will be shared. |
@ op Naija clowns! by "lagretor" i bliv u mean radiator. @wwwkaycom it will interest me whre the glycolitic and TCA cycle enzymes are located in the "lagrator" or engine cos it will save me a lot of energy isolating them from live tissues. |
talktimi: Trac and Smartchoice abeg when you guys finish una comedy pls help me out in my inquiry.thinking of the c43 dis link myt giv a prelim idea https://www.nairaland.com/1121481 on german car https://www.nairaland.com/1206367 better still start a new thread more people will see it and comment, u wont be derailing this thread, ... GOOD LUCK |
@ Ikenna I agree with u. i didnt want to respond based on his initial post cos if d problem started when he drove thru a "pool of water" and changin of plug solved d issue den the water level may ne most have been as high as the window level to affect the plugs. If by changing d plugs d issue was solved i want to bliv drivin thru the water was just a coincidence in relation to d issues he raised. If he can answer ur questions which are more direct than mine, we could narrow down d possibilities further. lets see what he comes back with. |
yinka rose: MY 307 HAS GONE INTO LIMP MODE WORKS ONLY IN GEAR 3 WHAT CAN I DOtake some time and read the thread from the fisrt page you would definately find some useful & helpful posts. good luck. |
samoy: Thanks, Ikenna for your response. I've changed d plugs and all dis signals hav stopped but d lion still jerks when d gear is changed. So,I'm suspecting one of d coils is bad or wat do u think?i Will assume i didn't see your earlier post and Ikenna's response so my response will be based on d assumption that this issue is unrelated with the previous ones cos alot does not add up as ikenna rightly said. so i would be looking at a failing fuel pump. Its common with D8 & D9. does your car feel heavy when you try to increase acceleration when you change gears? |
@ trac, very educative. i most confess this is the first time i will read your post once and understand it all, its so simplified. Most times i hav to read your posts more than twice. anyways, nice one. |
Ikenna351: The new 508 diesel e-Hybrid4 average 62 - 74mpg, in the city and highway.yeah! But i see its targeted @ the european market whre car owners are tending towards diesel cars because diesel fuel is cheaper. and if i will bring in my naija mentality, dey hav d expertise to maintain diesel engines. |
Ikenna351: French Politicians want to Diesel Cars from Big Cities: Peugeot Take Note!Deisel hybrid cars? Wow! Imagine how low dre mpg will be. whre are my nigerian bros who dont want to fuel dre cars? |
Most pple u hear com plain about fuel consumption hardly know what fuel consumption is let alone d dynamic of cars. Most pple who do dis compare a corrolla with a maximum of 1.8l 4cylinder engine with other european cars with 6 or 8 cylinders even if u compare with a 2.4ltr engine it doesnt make sense. They hardly talk abt body size, weight size of wheel and alot other variable that affects fuel consumption. Dont want to mention dat dis "no -no" cars consume less fuel. Those who care to know do know. now talkin abt Volvo my dad bought a brand new 78 244dl volvo in 1978 ,it was a straight 4 2.4l engine(D size u find on accord EOD of d 2000s) and dat car still traveled long journey's til around 2005 b4 he gave it out. Even if mpg was not an issue in d 80s nd 90s d only car dat had a better mpg in his fleet den was d Citreon Palace. He had a volvo 760 laterwch was a 6cylinder along side a Nissan Laurel wch was also a 6cylinder both were 2.8l cant remembr dre hp but definately wasnt too deiffernt, he prefered his volvo for long journeys cos of better handling nd bettr mpg. volvos made noise because of d engine power wch is common to all powerful engines.. i wonder if we realy want to fuel our cars, When pple even complain abt mpg of accords. bro if u love d swedish queen go for it. |
Chuky & obi2012 abeg naa. U guys have successfully deralied dis thread. Ikenna cautioned, seina clarified ur claims, youngboss pleaded but u guys are still at it. pls guys let dis issue die and lets move on. |
Moflek Cida: DUDE, FUEL EFFICIENCY DOESN'T EXIST IN BENZ'S DICTIONARY....first of all i'll rather you use the term "low fuel consumption" than fuel efficiency. secondly, if we accept ur use of english to mean what i think you mean, who told you so? if for instance an M104 & M112(s6 & v6) engine of a benz cld do a combined avrage of 11l/100km with a hp of btw 190 and 194, isnt feul fuel efficient or isnt economical i wonder what is. |
RWDs are fun to drive and stunt on. Ikenna ur experience remind me when i used to roll in 504 gl d doughnots, tail flippin and all dat. Dats one worry i hav with d 406. i lost my d8 to under steer of d fwd. To enjoy d pleasure of rwd is why i am having a thot abt an MB may be a stick w202. Its goin to be fun i bliv |
kadbus: Thank you very much.not true. Pugs are used in hotter location like egypt, libya, niger (@least dis are african countries) and they dont remove dre thermostats. Dre is a thread on dis section on dis issue. And dont forget to bleed(let out d air) after replacing ur coolant if ur engine is an xu10 cos u didnt answer if its a D9 or D8. |
Bump |
Thanks Abdulkadir for this info, but i have checked thro all the peugeot thread without seeing anything on this,, can u pls just send me the link as soon as u can? Infact, i want to remove the thermostat by 2moro morning b4 going to work as a temporary measures, tho i know this is not a gud practice, but it will enable me move around before i finally do a thorough steam wash on saturday and a thorough check on my water pump etc, and give it a permanent solution.
its coming rather late but it myt be usefuls some day. https://www.nairaland.com/1003701/peugeot-thread-peugeot-community/9#13238333 |
@ au.hanson, Gd to know ur ride is back on d road. ikenna posted on the peugeot thread on how to check if ur thermostat is working. |
midpoint: Please someone advise me. How often should I go for routine servicing of my car. I have a Peugeot 307.what do you mean by routine services. services are best don based on mileage covered. Most tyms we limit our sevice to oil & filter change. timing belt & adjusters, throw up bearin, clutch members, water pump etc are also what shld be on service list. |
Siena did u mean the 2.8 v6 or u actualy meant a v8. Is it a typo cos u own v8s nd working on one presently. Lol!
I would go with the 2,8 V6 30V quattro. The AWD is maintenance-free, and does not require any different repair / maintenance procedures over the same engine in FWD. The 2,8 V8 makes 193 hp (Euro) or 190 (US). Nice and smooth to drive, though will have slightly worse gas mileage. The 1,8 20V quattro is a pig. 150 hp + AWD + automatic in a heavy car is slow as balls. You would hate |
chima12: Issues with peogeot 406 [1998]automaticgo thru d thread ur question should be answered |
Even here on this forum most pple wil tell u synthetic oils like mobil 1 are for low mileage cars. Dre argument is dat Engines components of high mileage cars would have had more clearance hence thin oils like mobil1 will blow pass d cylinder without doing wats its sppsed to. the pple i refer to here are those who really know about cars and talk not because dey wanna talk but because dey know wat dey r doing. jahjehova: @au.hanson: U just spoke my mind.Even here on this forum most pple wil tell u synthetic oils like mobil 1 are for low mileage cars. Idontknowwhat my country people would refer to as unproblematic or inexpensive in terms of vehicle maintainance. first dre is d issue of unscientific overratted attachment to japvehicles. dre is also d issue that our mechanic hav successfully transfered dre innuendo & inability to cope with advancement in the autoworld onto carowners. 3rdly american and european cars are more expensive dan Asiain cars no doubt. This is d price u pay for additional comfort, power, handling. . . So you wldnt expect it to be as cheap as its jap counterprt. The other day someone was saying a 2004 accord is expensive to maintain. Its relative if you ask me. What is expensive to me myt be peanuts to you. But we all know when a commodity is expensive. you changed shock absorbers for 15k dat about d same price with dat of a 'o4 corolla & accord. brake pads for 15k an oem brake pads for a 406 myt cost as much landing in naija.
