Apart from d mechanic issues our economy can hardly sustain european cars cos they are more expensive to maintain & buy. The influx of jap and other asian automobiles into the nigerian market was more when our economy took a downturn som 20 or dreabout years ago. When i was growin up what you see in most car parks & streets were pugs, mercs, bimmers, VWs, Opels nd dre likes. anothr issue was that japmobiles HAD bettr fuel economy dan dre european countrparts. dat gave them an edge in naija. But suprisinly u still hear pple say dey dont want european vehicle because they are fuel guzzlers. Mnwhyl a 1st gen c class nd a 406 has a relatively bettr fuel economy dan an accord nd or corolla in d same category. 1 Like |

danny devito: compliments my bros car a 2007 corrolla just had a bad clutch plate, heard to replace this the gears ave to be broutgh down, pls how true is thisthis is coming rather late; Clutch plate, clutch disc and release bearing; all three components are between d gear box & engine. so yes d gear box have to be dropped. |

D first tym i went to QP frm jos it was like eternity, like 4hrs with all d curves and hils. Definately a long trip u had. Jos to zaria was so bad, Dre were more pot holes dan d road itself. Jos kano was better but i'll rather do jos bauchi-dutse- kano much longer but a road exists. the last tym i did jos -kano in august 2010 i lost a tyre nd 2 rims. such a bad road. |

Availability of spare parts is key in dciding ur choice of car but honestly even the common toyota and honda users cry about non availability of original spares in our Naija market. Since u've got a contact back there in the US and u can afford the ride, ur contact can aswell get d replacement parts for you when ever the need arises thats if you are not comfortable shopping online. all d best. |

favouryemmy: Bros, you're wrong. That's the cause of some avoidable accidents in Nigeria. You need to arm yourself withing driving rules, driving signs etc. Even if u teach yourself, go to the internet type in 'driving 101' download and read, then you'll see that you dont know much about driving. If you dont have the driving rules on ur finger tips, then u have a long way to go to be a driver. No harm intended, but I believe ur educated and shd understand what I mean.bros i no understand wetin u mean. u quoted what i said nd u still attack me dis much. may b u didnt get me. In those days 20, 25 yaers and more ago you couldnt get a DL if you didnt pass a driving test. U couldnt pass a driving test when you use your left foot for the brake its like scoring an F. Those days are gone, hardly do anybody go thru any test as u still hav in europe and other cntries that care about the safety of its citizens. If not why would this thread even come up. to those who drive auto with 2 legs my advice is do d needful and drive correctly using ur ryt foot for both gas/accelerator/throttle "tortle" and brake. Never ever use ur left foot for d brake. There is nothing wrong until u slam hard on the gas instead of d brake. the consequences? i rather not say. i rest my case. |

Siena: That's the very point I'm trying to get across, Bro. I don't feel I've used any more or less energy, regardless of what I've driven, and traffic conditions. I do however find I get bored driving an auto, it's just not involving enough fo me to appreciate.No comments. U said my mind. |

yungboss: took out the ICV of the car today, cleaned the opening with petrol, hoses attached to both sides of the ICV were cleaned thoroughly too with same solvent. Got new air filter and cleaned the plugs (NTK, they were no longer sand brown). No significant improvement, still noticed the little black fumes.sorry abt dat. i hope d scan will dtect d issue nd get ur ride back in order. all d best. |

Pls tanks and which is preferable mannual or automatic transition ?i think d choice of manual or automatic tranny is dependant on you, do you want to drive d car or you want d car to do d driving. what i'm sayin is dat its ur personal prefrence dat will dtermine that. it can go for as low as 1.2m to as high as 1.6 depending on how clean, options and year of manufacture. |

i dont drive a BMW but i had exact issue with my mazda d throttle body and its gasket was d culprit. it may be dirty or bad and the gasket may be broken. i dont know if urs uses a throttle body cos my friend's mini cooper whch is a bmw family uses actuator wch i think is an advancement over the throttle body. i stand to be corrected. |

where is ikenna. lol firstly, i hope i wont be biased because i'm a Lion. i might not be as technical as siena & co but my bro both cars have got good fuel economy and i wld say d prices of their parts in nija could be relatively similar. handling at high speed d pug might do better aguably. one thin i know is dat most of us in nija tend to run away from pugs but i tell all d pple i converted from honda EOD nd its kind to Pug wished they had converted earlier. yes maintenance of honda could be easier because its "mechanics" are available at every othe kilometer as compared to the pug. if u've got a gd maintenance culture, for me d pug is the bomb. ew10 is an engine type on second generation 406, its an advancement over the xu10 wch was in the 1st gen along side others like d ew7.u cld learn more abt it on d peugeot community thread here on NL 1 Like |

blackracle: Check the Gear mounting and engine seating if symptoms persist.thats it. with most honda accords ,98 model to 2006 d engine mounting at d rear is d initial culprit of tranny issues. if ur mountings are bad even if u change d box the thrump will persist. so my bros with d thrumping issues in honda check ur engine mounts. |

all d above is a good way to go. u could also check ur engine mounts espesially d big one at d rear of d engine. most honda transmission issues start with failed engine mounts. u cld check them urself, open d engine bay, engage the parking brake then engage the reverse gear then check d mounts if they are broken u cant miss it. another way is to ask some one to look if the engine moves while u engage d drive or reverse gears. if ur mounts are ok den definately u've got a tranny issue otherwise the mounts may be d culprit. |

in my location things are not this difficult. the prices of cars with genuine custom papers are usually different. all you need do is ask does d car have "duty" or not and hardly will d dealer lie to you. if you are getting from benin directly ("order" it is called) thru a dealer he charges you for his services. dat deosnt rule out completely dat he make additional gain but be sure d car will be smuggled in. depending on wat you offer or d greed of d dealer ur car will drive on d raod all thru to ur house in abt 10 days. 1 Like |

as ikeyman already said check your master and slave cylinder. From my experience its more likely to be the master. Not barering the fact that smeothr thing could be the culprit. |

sesandavid: Please can experts in the house tell me what is wrong with my clutch, anytime am in the traffic and I depressed my clutch for like three minutes, the clutch will refuse to come up, I will have to use my feet to raise the pedal clutch before I can move on, Please what do you think is the problem, somebody said it might have to do with the disc, I want to be very sure before I go ahead changing my disc. the car is Toyota corolla, 2006 (bank type). tope24: i have a baby boy 98 model that consumes fuel and also the gear takes a lil tym to change to the next gear. also the engine makes a funny sound.alot of things can make ur car consume fuel than normal. One of it is your transmission that takes more time to select; a dirty or bad throttle body,injector and or other components of the fuel line, d engine could also be the cause if its weak; u mentioned dat it makes a funny sound tho one can hardly tell from ur dscription, d dlay in gear changing also cld be caused by a numbr of things; ur engine mounts cld be bad, ur transmission cld also have issues. oga siena & other gurus in d house will say more. |
