How do you control the infestation of rats and squirrels? |
Good for them. |
If it's truly deserved, then it's a good move. |
Branding is a huge topic. As graphic designers, we don't "create" branding for businesses. A brand goes beyond design. It's intangible. It encompasses brand identity (the visual part that's executed by graphic designers). It is wrong to use branding and brand identity interchangeably. |
Cloning of social media handles. Can it ever be curtailed? |
What audacity! |
We hope that the government of concerned states will offer helping hands. |
But why? |
Politics. Such a dirty game. |

MOHBAD, NAIRA MARLEY AND MARLIANS: MY VIEW There are things that, ordinarily, some of us wouldn't see, hear or talk about. We are like two parallel lines. But internet came, social media followed and this kind of messed things up a bit. So today, we see things that we wouldn't have loved to see and we hear people talk about them. A musician died recently and the whole of the nation went agog. They said he was a good person. They said his boss cheated, maltreated and dehumanized him in his last days. They said his boss and his cohorts had something to do with his death. They said he must get justice. Who's the boss in question? Naira Marley. Who's Naira Marley? Naira Marley is a Nigerian musician that "blew" (came to limelight) few years back. He's known to be a chronic weed smoker and abuses all sorts of drugs. In fact, I'd say that this single trait was one of his marketing strategies as well. And the society welcomed him with open arms. Eventually, he became an ambassador of drug abuse, he sang songs that promote drug abuse, drug pushing, fornication, internet scam and all sorts of vices. He didn't stop there. He proceeded to creating his own tribe - Marlians. He amassed followers, comprised majorly of youths. His influence spread throughout Nigeria, the West, its headquarters, the South, East and even the North of all places were not left out. Teenagers and able-bodied youths started abusing all sorts of drugs after getting inspired through his songs. Majority of the youths in my community got inspired by him and started smoking weed. They started dressing like him. Marlians don't wear belts, remember? He even discouraged the youths from going to school. "Marlians no dey go school." His influence produced miscreants and turned people's children to their worst nightmares. He sold his ways to the youths so effortlessly that a secondary school graduating set in my community tagged themselves "Marlians" and customized their shirts to that effect. All these happened while the society kept silent as if everything was fine. People looked on, watching their children and siblings become Marlians. Some parents even listen to his music alongside their children. His influence was starting to pollute the society so badly and irredeemably. His tribe never complained. Nobody condemned his actions. Everything was fine. ...until few days back when the musician died. Everyone suddenly became mad at him. As if he used to be a medical doctor who had just transformed into an hired killer. As if he had never committed any wrong before then. As if he didn't make everyone know about his devilish ways in his music and social media presence. Then they started unearthing all the evils he had committed. They dug out before and after pictures of the boys that had moved close to him. They said they'd become bones as a result of drug abuse. As if they expected the boys to be fed with milk and honey while he'd isolate himself and take drugs alone. Most annoyingly, however, is that they're blaming it all on him. Isn't this hypocrisy of the highest order? His boys (the deceased especially) have suddenly become saints. As if they were blindfolded when they chose Naira Marley. As if they didn't know what they were getting into. As if they didn't join hands with him to promote his tribe, Marlians, and its countless ills. As if they didn't influence other people themselves (without any contribution from Naira Marley). The "yeyebrities" as they're popularly called are calling for his head. As if this was the first time they were hearing about him. As if they didn't know everything about him before now. As if they didn't hang out together and promote evils together. The society didn't apportion any blame to itself. The society that'd keep mute when people are just starting to perpetrate evils, the point where it's easy to curtail. The society that keeps mute when the musicians wouldn't stop singing songs that promote all sorts of evils. Where were you all when he was just starting to make the fire? Why are you all making noise now that the fire can no longer be quenched? © AbduLlah |

SkillShare says her annual subscription plan is #13,200. Google Playstore refuses to accept my naira master and visa cards. Guys here said Chipper dollar card would work. I had to pay 3k to get one. Chipper's naira to dollar rate was exorbitant (956) for card funding. Funded card anyway. Proceeded to making payment of #13,200 and Chipper happily gave Play store 17.7 dollars on my behalf. I'm still confused. I feel like crying.
