TonyeBarcanista:
Why are people blowing hot air because a globally recognise and reputable medium(the Economist) tagged former president Goodluck Jonathan an ineffectual buffoon within the context of anti-corruption? Can we please for a few moment reflect our mind back to the statement of the Economist and tell ourselves whether or not it was true?

"The government(of Buhari) has cracked down on corruption, which had flourished under the previous president, Goodluck Jonathan, an ineffectual buffoon who let politicians and their cronies fill their pockets with impunity."
(The Economist 28/01/2016)
Who can claim that corruption didn't flourish under Jonathan administration? What happened to Princess Stella Oduah and her N260million bullet-proof car scam? What happened to Alison Madueke that sold off NNPC jet meant for use of petroleum minister but allegedly spent a whopping N10billion of tax-payers' money on charter jet while the former President refused to probe the issue and even shielded her from house of representative probe in 2014? What happened to the Alhaji Abdulrasheed Maina, the former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team the recovered and re-looted billions of naira of our poor pensioners? What happened to Steven Orasanya the former head of service indicted for looting billions? What happened to the oil subsidy thieves, Alison Madueke and all those indicted by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu led Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force that was set-up by Jonathan's government in 2012? What happened to comrade Abba Moro, the former interior minister that sent young Nigerians to their early grave after fleecing each of them of their hard-earned N1000 in the name of immigration recruitment? How do we explain the fact that under Goodluck Jonathan, former governors from all parties took corruption to the zenith with ex-Gov Amaechi telling Nigerians that they steal because we don't stone them? What was his reaction? What happened to the $2.2billion cash for arms deal, and the re-looted Abacha $370million loot? Who gave Olisah Metuh N400 million? Didn't Jonathan agree that some cabals are taking advantage of subsidy (without bringing them to book)? Should we dismiss that also? Should we go on? Did corruption not thrive under Goodluck Jonathan's leadership at all level?

If we agree with the above then why should we fault the Economist when even Jonathan supporters agree that corruption thrived in the last administration even though they are quick to say "Buhari's men are not saints" (which of course is correct).

No Insult Intended...
An ineffectual buffoon is simply someone with odd or ridiculous behaviour that doesn't produce desired effect or doesn't meet expectation

If we are to be fair, we won't call the ineffectual buffoon tag an insult on Jonathan especially when putting the war against corruption into context like the Economist did. That he carries a humble demeanour or conceded defeat does not erode the fact that he was ineffective in tackling corruption, though his concession of defeat is worth commendation. The truth must be said. In fact, many, even among those that claim to be his supporters and those from his Ijaw ethnic group have at one time or the other tagged the former president clueless. I sympathise with Jonathan but this is a cross that he should be prepare to bear.

He is Not The First To Be Called A Buffoon
Let me also state that former president Goodluck Jonathan is not the only person nor the first to be tagged a buffoon. When British MP Sir Keir Starmer said “that(Donald Trump's behaviour) is not buffoonery, that is absolutely repugnant”, Americans didn't spit fire, neither did Republicans spat fire when British MP Tom Tugendhat called Trump an insane.

Goodluck Jonathan's sympathisers and foot solders should understand that the former president belongs to the past just like his predecessors in office. His deeds and misdeeds as President Jonathan(not Mr. Jonathan) will always be talked about just like we keep talking about those of Shehu Shagari, Sani Abacha, Gen IBB, Maj Gen Buhari, Chief Obasanjo, late Yar'adua etc. Whether for good or for bad, he/they are being remembered by what they have done and what they failed to do- President Muhammadu Buhari won't be an exception when he leaves power.

May God Bless Us All and Bless Nigeria
[/s]
The OP is a greater ineffectual buffoon.
You are a turncoat and porrige seeking individual. You are very unstable in your ways and people like you do not prosper because you swing with the tide. As you clamour for relevance with this administration bear in mind that it will elude you because you have been exposed as a fraud. No one will trust you.

Ermm, you can read this anyway you want, as an insult and report it to MODs or as a wake up call to stand and be a Man.

MORE than 30 years ago, a young general swept to power in the fifth of Nigeria’s military coups since independence in 1960. The country he inherited was a mess: bled dry by pilfering politicians within and hammered by falling oil prices without. Last year that general, Muhammadu Buhari, became president again—this time in a democratic vote. The problems he has inherited are almost identical. So are many of his responses.
In the eight months since Mr Buhari arrived at Aso Rock, the presidential digs, the homicidal jihadists of Boko Haram have been pushed back into the bush along Nigeria’s borders. The government has cracked down on corruption, which had flourished under the previous president, Goodluck Jonathan, an ineffectual buffoon who let politicians and their cronies fill their pockets with impunity. Lai Mohammed, a minister, reckons that just 55 people stole $6.8 billion from the public purse over seven recent years.

Mr Buhari, who—unusually among Nigeria’s political grandees—is said to have just $150,000 and a couple of hundred cattle to his name, abhors such excess. As military ruler he jailed, fired or forced into retirement thousands of bureaucrats whose fingers had been in the till. This time, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested dozens of bigwigs, including a former national security chief accused of diverting $2.2 billion. The EFCC has a poor record of securing convictions; but a single treasury account has been introduced to try to stop civil servants siphoning off cash. And agencies which may not be remitting their fair share to the state are having their books trawled by Kemi Adeosun, the finance minister.
Such measures are doubly important because the economy is swooning along with the oil price. The sticky stuff directly accounts for only 10% of GDP, but for 70% of government revenue and almost all of Nigeria’s foreign earnings.

Nonsense.
Liar Muhamed, You cannot gain any relevance for buhari by paying Economist to write trash for you.

That's why your ministry was given 39 billion to keep churning out rubbish!

We expect to see more vindictive posts from you in future, but know one fact, Jonathan bone don hang for una throat!

While you and your clueless oga struggle to fill his shoes the guy keeps getting more accolades internationally. He is still a very potent threat to you guys. Deal with it.

Abala doesn't need outdated AK47 for anything.
They make their own, they can even make the mordern AK49. Gunsmithing is not rocket science.
Awka does it, abala does it, even individuals can fabricate the stuff.

So the military should come up with different excuse for the crackdown.

Confiscating the guns on ground doesn't confiscate the brains that built them.

Be guided.

Take it easy dear, @veraponpo was simply right. I speak out of experience and as a Banker with deep experience in FX transactions.
As at today, I processed School Fess transaction to an Institution in Republic of Ireland. The rate was N199.30.
Yea sure. The transaction I made with my GT card last week that I was charged N2,790.11 for a 9.79 USD or the Stanbic of yesterday where 200USD was charged over N58,000 must be from planet Uranus!
BusinessRe: Why Do Our Bank Charges Us N301 While Cbn Sell For Them At N199 Per Dollar by abe4kom: 7:07pm On Jan 21, 2016
veraponpo:
I do not think banks can do that because they are bound by BOFID/BOFIA. Because of the following reasons:

CBN sells at N197.

Banks do not sell at N301 rather it is BDC that does that.

There is inter-bank rates and that is within N198-201.

It is the parallel market that is selling above N300. There reason is because Nigeria as a country has very poor exporting ability. Our major export is crude oil and there is bad market for it now.

The demand and supply economics theory is working too. Demand for dollar is high and supply is low, therefore price is high.
You know nothing of the subject under discussion bro. You have just shown that you have not made any intl transactions in the last 2 months if ever.
Just stick to what you are well versed in bro.

No vex.

Dudes over at beegeagle blog savaged the vehicles as an insult to Nigeria.

GEJ bought the Bigfoot and Reva MRAPs and they have been performing excellently.

What we want are Apache helicopters, chinooks, Bradley fighting Vehicles, Abrams Tanks and Warthog flying fortress.
Not some silly vehicle looking like it was used in Equalizer 2000
