The survey found that 80.3% of managers feel writing proficiency is the most desirable hard skill among recent college graduates. Submitting a well crafted cover letter is crucial, but there are some other unconventional ways to highlight your writing chops.
If you volunteered to be the secretary for a group project in college, include that on your resume,depending on the nature of the industry—marketing, communications or journalism to name a few—you might also bring writing samples with you to job interviews.

Why Your Child Seems Lazy and Unmotivated to study? (Read this Post for Solution ��)

When you just look at your child and wonder
“why is it that this child is so lazy and
unmotivated to do anything especially school work?”

And this can be very frustrating
you just feel that the child is the problem and
you focus your energy on that child changing
and not what is really causing the problem.

if you feel a little bit confuse,
let me share a personal story with you

When I was younger my mum complained
a lot about me being too slow and not smart
even at my home chores and my school work
She talked about it like I deliberately decided
to be slow or not smart

This made me feel like she didn’t really care
about me even when I know she is my mother
I didn’t really feel like changing to be smarter
or better,
it just made me more stubborn

This affected my education till Senior Secondary School,
even when I became wiser and knew that it was
from a place of love.
By then it was a bit late because I had failed
a lot and repeated some classes.

This got me thinking…
Maybe if she had paid attention to the problem
and not me, I would be more motivated
to change or do better .

Also

My aunt’s son Seun was very stubborn
he didn’t like to read at all. Anytime his mum asked him
to read, he would practically hit his leg on the floor and grumbled.

When my aunty noticed this
she spoke to him calmly to understand
what the real problem was
and she addressed the reason he was always
reluctant to study.
With this, he became motivated and was ready
to learn because he didn’t feel like he was attacked.

As an educationist, I have discovered
that the problem with most children and teenager
is they feel unmotivated to read.
But if you make the problem all about them
and not seeking to know the problem and
why they act the way they act,
they will continue to throw tantrums and be more difficult

This is how you can go about it
Let your child know that you care about
who he or she is as a person

Connect with your child over things
that interests him or her (this works a lot)
and then bring up the conversation about the problem
and how you can both find solution to it
Discuss their favourite hobbies with them

This will help your child to understand that
while he or she may be struggling, you’ll be there the entire way.
And this feeling will actually motivate your child
to do better I their education

WRITING AND PASSING ALL YOUR WAEC/NECO/GCE PAPERS IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE


“WAEC Result is out.” Someone said

Immediately I heard this, my heart started racing on this day. I could not eat or sleep because I’ve been hearing all kinds of news.

Some people failed woefully, some passed but failed either Mathematics or English, some people barely made it past five credits. Bad news everywhere!

My parents were just hoping and praying I passed all my WAEC papers.

I refused to check my result on time because my cousin told me he failed two important subject and his parents almost ‘skinned him alive’. In fact, he confessed to me that his life was over.

And I was like God please let me pass ooo because I knew I didn’t answer some questions very well

Eventually, after one week I decided to be brave and boldly checked my WAEC result

Lo and behold I passed all my papers ooo! Actually, it wasn’t an excellent result but at least I didn’t have to re –write any paper and my cousin wasn’t that lucky

This is the feeling of most students. This is how you feel when they hear WAEC result is out

Your heart just starts racing, you get scared and begin to regret some of your decisions. You wished you read well, or wished that you sat at the back of your friend who is more brilliant, or you wished you took that expo in…

But

You don’t have to be scared when you are checking your result if you prepared well for it

I know you are thinking it’s not that easy

And

In your mind, you are saying that WAEC syllabus is very voluminous.

Yes it is but if you start preparations on time you will discover you will be able to cover the syllabus

Research as shown reading is becoming more difficult for students, not because you don’t want to read, but because there is a lot of distractions like the internet ,games.

So what’s the solution?

The solution is through video lecture

If it takes 10 hours to finish 150 pages book, it will take just 2 hours to finish the same book in a video format

What I’m saying is that you can use the same 10 hours to covered 3 textbooks in a video format instead of 1 textbook in 10 hours in a physical text book

Can you see what I mean?

And it can also be repeated as much time as possible especially at areas you find it difficult to understand.

According to Word stream statistics, students can retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video but can retain 10% of a message when reading it in text.

How Do I Learn to Be Discipline in Preparing for My CIS Exams?


You checked your calendar or your phone for the date and
discovered that It’s just three months left to CIS Exams and then you said,

“OOOhhhh! time is too fast these days, abegi! I will start reading by tomorrow“.

Tomorrow comes again and you say to yourself again,

“Haaaa!!! I don’t know where the time is running to ooo, wooo!!! Let me just start by weekends.”

and this continues until exams are knocking on your front door.

It might seem funny but we are all guilty of that. You strategize
and make plans on how you will effectively study for
an exam but still you find yourself doing irrelevant things.

According to one of my students, Mercy, who
made plans on starting her exams preparations since a month ago
but still finds herself doing nothing about it as every day passes by,
she just keeps giving herself one excuses after another.

And now it’s just three months to the exams.

“My fear is that if I continue like this, I will end up not
preparing well for this exam due to my procrastinating attitude” Mercy said to me

I shared some tips with her so as to help her stay disciplined in
preparing for her exams. I would like to share
some of the tips with you as well;

First, you have to get rid of temptations because
Self-discipline becomes very easy when the things or
people that distract you are out of sight, out of reach.
Make sure before you start studying, your mobiles phones and
every other garget are switched off or completely out of site.
For some people that put their phones very close to them and
have active internet. Immediately they get a notification sound,
the urge to reply the message is always there. Therefore,
it is advised to put your mobile phones away when studying.
And try to get rid of every other temptation too.

Secondly, you have to stop the habit of perfect timing.
The truth be told, you do not need to wait for a perfect time to
start studying for your exams. Use the available time to
study for your exams; the available time is the perfect time.
Yes, we all want that time when we will be gingered;
when our body, spirit, and mind will be synchronized to study.
Most times, the so-called ‘perfect timing’ might
not show up. Probably until the exam is in a few weeks or
it might not even come due to unforeseen circumstances.
Therefore, the habit of perfect timing should be stopped
instead discipline yourself to read when there is available time. It pays more.

discipline yourself as you start preparing for your CIS exams and
give you other tips you need to achieve that.

I get lots of mails from ICAN students who complained that they are finding it hard to study for their exams.
One of the ICAN students said that anytime he sits down to read, that is when he will start feeling sleepy and when he stops

Another student complained that he always struggle to read, that reading for ICAN exams has become the most difficult task for him and he cannot explain why.

5 HABITS TO DROP IF YOU WANT TO PASS YOUR ICAN EXAM

On today’s article post, discover five study habits you should ditch today if you want to pass your exam and become chartered in no time.

4. Multi-Tasking: Many people are able to multi-task, meaning they can do several different things at once. This can be good for daily tasks. Accountant in a firm and on the final day of screening, I was asked if I had
any professional certificate as an added advantage to my 13 years of
experience as an Accountant?
