Try tuition free countries like Germany. LINSAR: So I've been frequenting travel section visa threads for a while now. Each time I go there, I get discouraged. You see people asking if 25 million naira proof of funds is enough or they need to add more People traveling out every time and the cost is not little at all.
I know people get scholarships to study but it's very competitive and not certain. Even with scholarships, one will still need good money.
How are people from not so buoyant homes doing it? Is there a trick for people like us whose parents don't even have properties to sell for sponsorship?
Ps: USA is my goal, and I'll be studying a management science course; if this info is necessary. |

Education › Re: 5 Things We Learnt In Secondary School That Are Now Useless by abjecht(m): 5:21am On May 05, 2021 |
marveangel: This is a list of things we learnt in secondary school that are not applicable in real life or have become totally obsolete maybe due to advance in technology or maybe they weren't as practical in real life as our teachers tried to make us believe.
1. Quadratic Formula (Almighty Formula) The very first time I heard those words "Almighty Formula" I was in primary school, my elder brothers were arguing about some maths problem and they mentioned Almighty Formula I was like wow there is a formula in maths that is Almighty I bet with this formula I can solve any math problem I ever came across. I mean it is after all "Almighty" . Spoiler! there is nothing Almighty about the quadratic formula it is actually just another method of solving quadratic equations.
2. How to use long division and long multiplication I remember my mathematics teacher shaming us and acting as though our whole brian was filled with saw dust just because one couldn't do any of this. But look at us today, we have the mobile phone and calculators I don't think I've been in any situation where I needed to use the long division I learnt or should I say forced to learn.
3. Memorizing The Periodic Table Believe it or not back in secondary school SS1 first term to be precise I actually memorized the entire elements in the periodic table, all 104 of them over the weekend by break on Monday I had become something of a legend. Accompanied by my two closest friends I went from SS1 A to D mesmerizing other students with my "knowledge". I was the centre of attraction, each student with their Ababio textbook staring at the periodic table while I recited each element accordingly. By the end of the week I was something of a legend everybody was talking about me, even the seniors. But come month end even I could barely remember the first 30 elements accordingly and the legend fizzled into thin air. Unless you ended up studying chemistry I mean advance chemistry you'll probably would find memorizing the periodic table a complete waste of time, especially those rare elements not like you can got to ShopRite and order 2 kilos of Uranium.
4. Roman Numerals Yeah yeah you could argue that you still make list using them, I understand that, but how often do you use Roman numerals, unless you are a class teacher teaching the same old things we were thought back them to some innocent students you probably never made a list longer than 10 with Roman numerals that's if you even do. Tell me I'm wrong.
5. Longitude and Latitude I Know it seems like I have something against geography but I don't, my geography teacher was a fun guy back in the days but let's be real here, how many times have you had to use your knowledge of longitude and latitude in real life scenerio( unless you are a pilot or a ship captain,in that case - ah ya captain) and this thing called Google maps actually made that knowledge obsolete.
Bonus; Morning Assembly As far as I'm concerned this is a complete waste of 1-2 hours every morning, why couldn't we just get to school and go straight to class why do we have to stand and sing, dance (principal sir I already endure 2 hours of morning devotion at home before coming to school) and then of course March to class. I never understood the essence especially the marching to class part. But if you do kindly enlighten me.
Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen top 5 things we learnt in secondary school that I believe are not applicable in real life or are now obsolete. Feel free to add yours and if there is anyone you do not agree with kindly let me know. They are very much useful to others, they don’t have to be to you. Gadget or automobile designers use most of these calculations to fit parts, pilots use the knowledge of longitude and latitude and not everyone did morning devotions in their homes. The essence of the devotion was for morality, information sharing and togetherness. The periodic table is very much useful to chemist, pharmacist and the likes that make drugs. You need chemistry to put them together in the right quantity and formulae. |

It is not a constitutional right than anyone should complete an 8 year tenure, neither is it the right of Ize Iyamu to become governor. The reason the constitution allows for an election after four years and not eight, is for the masses to vote better options if the incumbent hasn’t meet up with his manifesto or there is another that can do better. IMO no nigeria politician since 1999 has deserved a second term - Because they and their immediate families all became multiple times richer after their tenure. Worse of all, they don’t even invest the money so we get jobs. They just lock it up somewhere depriving the economy of capital. If they invest it in the economy, we will still have been better of as a country, because whether or not the owners of factors of production in a country is govt or individuals, there will be a beneficial Real GDP per capital growth and a consequent better standard of living. If Obaseki was investing his loot in the state, I would have rate him better. Y’al are just being emotional because they programmed u to be so, in four years time we will be here again arguing for the interest of another failure of a candidate. We need to March bro! 007inc: No one is glorifying any politician, OshoMOLE completed his tenure , let OBASEKI complete his ..... We know they are all thieves , but „the devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know“. And as for the bolded, my future n generations future are already secured! |

Nigerians will never stop shocking me, Obasekis govt will not still favour the common man. Make una not go hustle Dey defend thugs Upandan we go still pocket the future of most unborn generations. OBJ et all. They are all criminals, leave Nigeria and u will weep for the kind of leaders we have. You are here celebrating thug. The jury is still on the governor of Borno state. When I was younger, I was in shoes glorifying a politician. The scale dropped from my eyes when my father did a borehole for 200k exactly what a governor said cost him 10 million naira to build. Y’al are not serious 007inc: Obaseki has just shown OshomOLE that he is a Benin man. After he wins the election, he will expose OSHOMOLES rot for 8years |

That is Nigeria’s economic policy issue. We should fix policies not reversing FDI. no country develop without FDI and international trade. Don’t be emotional because you re Nigerian, the problem is with our policies. Every investor or business goal is to maximize profit, and it is the responsibility of govt to make sure tax evaders are brought to justice. See the case of Spain and footballers who maximize their income taking advantage of the tax loophole. We need to start holding our leaders accountable. adioolayi: Read about how these companies repatriate undeclared money. They don't declare actual profit to evade taxes and all. |

Obaseki and co are just a joke. I wish the people can vote in a different party. Obaseki destroying the house of assembly is the most undemocratic move ever, never seen since the history of the country. It’s disapointing educated youth are still sympathetic to this guy. He is just like the rest of them. He may rightfully end up in jail at some point, this is bastardizing democracy and spiting on the constitution of the country. I am not a fan of APC either, but mhen Obaseki nor try with this at all. He is no different from the rest of them and might even be worse. Bleep em all. This will cost tax billions of naira to fix no matter who wins izzou:

SSamuelo: Can you add me to your whattsapp group =Fustinachichi post=70030851]Well, i took an uber taxi from my hotel in lekki phase 1 to the embassy(we even drove passed it) , its close to Netherland embassy and a security dog was chained at the entrance of the German embassy ..Anyways, I left the hotel by 5am got to embassy by 5:30am....then I greeted the men behind the glass with my most gorgeous smile ever (for my mind I thought Paulinus was one of them)....anyways sha, the security guys told me to stand on the pavement that I am first online, as I stood, 5 minutes later people started coming.....anyways sha, I started my kabashing!(speaking in tongues and praising God)....and then I saw him...OGA PAULINUS. ...I gave him my most sweetest smile and this guy DID NOT even give me the slightest nod...He just told all of us to come in, he arranged some chairs and told us to start arranging our documents as he shouts it out....If u see the way he was making some guys shake with his haughty attitude (no, if God mistakenly give this guy presidency, he will turn to King Herod)...The little power that man has is intoxicating him.... (later, I will pray for him)....
anyways sha, he eventually delayed me and made me the 4th on line, but it was the plan of God because his delay gave me the best VO ever...chai. ..
I entered and he told me to pick the phone, I did VO: Hi Me: Good morning sir VO: Smiled VO: Let's go Me: Sir, please I want to show u these documents, I was mistakenly sent to Abuja, did the interview but few minutes to the end, it was cancelled and these are the documents, my prints and info were taken, I just thought to inform u first VO: it's alright, thanks for telling me, however I don't think it's valid anymore, we will do a new one Me: Okay VO: So, what are u going to study and which school and where Me: BSc in Health Informatics at Deggendorf Institute of Technology at the European Campus in Pfarrkirchen (lower Bavaria, Rottal Inn) VO: Bachelors? Me: No, VO: Oh, so why Germany and not uk Me: high tuition fee VO: Where are ur parents and siblings Me: told him VO: Okay, tell me what u know about Germany Me: Beautiful country, surrounded by 9 countries, Denmark in the North, Austria and Switzerland in the south....(told him everything) VO: what else Me: I don't know again sir, let me think....yes, the office of the Chancellor is called the washing machine, also Germany has the biggest train station VO: Ok. .(he smiles) and where is it located? Me: ( oh Lord)...am sorry, I really don't know VO: it's in Berlin Me: okay, thank u, I will research more on that....but I also know German language has 35 dialects VO: wow...so have u been learning the language and how? Me: yes I have been learning through YouTube, duolingo VO: introduce urself in German Me: mein name ist Chichi, ich bin eine Frau, die Jesus liebt. Ich bin ein Christ VO: hahaaaaaaaaa (his laughter really shocked me, I thought I was on point)...Please wait (he turns on the loudspeaker on his phone and tells another VO to listen)...Please dear, say that thing again Me: (I repeat my german) 2nd VO:hahaaaaaaaaa. ..what! is she speaking spanish Me: am sorry, I really thought I was on point! VO: No u need to learn more! So why this school, why this course, tell me more about the school and course Me: told him (thank God for our WhatsApp group) VO: plans after ur bachelors? Me: told him ( God bless my course mates on my WhatsApp group) VO: so what else have u been doing towards ur travel Me: (showed him a printout of the convo I had with someone who I have been discussing with about my accommodation and she was asking I pay) VO: oh this is really nice, u can go ahead and pay for the accommodation ..do u have any other question for me? Me: no VO: alright we will communicate with u via email and since u stay in abuja, u can courier ur passport to us and we will send u, ur visa with ur passport, back to u, using ur prepaid envelope....ok bye Me: bye, thank u I came out smiling like one crazy woman and u won't believe that those 3guys where still in the interview room, I even heard one of the VO angrily asking one guy to state his date of birth again and again and this guy was guessing up and down, he couldn't say the exact date on his passport! !
On my way out those useless security was asking me "anything for the boys"..I asked them "what did the boys do for me, please I don't have nothing for any boys"...I hissed and walked away, went to Winners Supermarket and bought me some amazing Walnut crossiant jare! Mtcheeeewwww Advice: just be honest and be real and commit it all into God's hands
