I have seen a couple I visited on the loss of a 3rd child to sicle cell. A son about 26 years of age.
The woman said, bitterly in front of and pointing to her husband that if she knew better she never would have married her "that man". That she regretted the marriage.

U can definitely marry your lover and have healthy children that are not SS. It all boils down to careful planning.
Use contraceptives. Then, whenever you want to conceive, go to a fertility specialist. They'll explain to you how you can select only AA and AS embryos for your pregnancy. That's ivf. If you don't have money, you can start saving towards that.
Don't even think of natural conception, you may live to regret it. Try n use contraceptives.

Test: Hmm, it is risky but you are already in it so let me tell you a practical way out. There are tests that can reveal chromosomal abnormalities in a foetus. These tests can also reveal sickle cell anaemia. The tests are called amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS). They are not expensive but if you want to do it, use a reputable hospital. Those tests can reveal Down syndrome too. That's why nowadays they don't have many Down syndrome children in advanced countries. Doctors advise couples to abort once the test reveals it.

Abortion: If your faith is not against abortion, you will keep aborting the foetus once the test reveals it's SS. I know some people that aborted up to 3 before they get an AA or AS. Some couples are lucky, the two S's genes in both husband and wife are not perking in all their pregnancies.

IVF: Some people that their faiths are against abortion do IVF to console their faith. They think because IVF is not naturally conceived, aborting it once the foetus is able to reveal the Genotype is not really an abortion. I wish the tests can perfectly risk-free reveal the genotype before the Embryo is transferred to a woman uterus during IVF, it would have been a perfect solution for those against abortion. The present method of genotyping embryo (PCR) has a lot of risks. Cos there won't be any form of guilt destroying an embryo that is still in a test tube. Hopefully, future Ob/Gyn students researches can make the embryo genotyping less risky.

Personally, I don't think abortion in a situation like this is a sin cos, people abort complicated pregnancies that could take their lives.

Trust me, it is very expensive to manage SS children. I knew a family who has 5 children and 3 are SS. The 3 SS children eventually died after spending so much money on them. The parents are rich cos they have a fish depot but they wasted all their money on the children hospital bills. Remember our hot humid weather is not favourable for SS and we also have a poor healthcare system.

I wrote an essay on these away ago. people that do what you are about doing are people that had access to primary 2 education only. So, I won't convince you, Because even the holy book, said That love is the greatest.

You too can get married. So long as you don't intend to make babies.
But if you intend to have kids, My brother I am pleading, It's not worth it. The worst heart break in this life, is to see your child die.

You actually have a choice. Some of your kids may get lucky, but 1 Child must fall out of luck. guess what her life will look her?

I let go of my 5yrs relationship Cus we were both As... We found out after the engagement.
I called off the engagement and relocated to another city, its really painful but I can't bear to see my child suffer every single day Cus of my selfishness...

I presently manage a sickle cell patient..And everyday in her pains the teenager is always cursing her parents for bringing her to this world..despite how much time and money this young couple have spent on her .It is really a pitiable condition...The couple literally live with us in the hospital..

you can all you need to do is go for I V F if you do it in a good hospital your babies will be srceen from any form of heritable diseases like sickle cell disease. But it will cost a lot of money. Good luck.

I was in your shoes but erroneously
My fiance told me she's AS as she was told when she was younger. I'm As too, the love was so strong we decided to go ahead with d relationship. When I was about to meey her parents officially, something told me to take her for test. Lo and behold she was AA. We went to another lab to retry, same result.

But if you are sure both of u are As,be ready to spend money on foetus testing and probably u might have to do some abortions. But trust me it's not worth the effort
