I just have to muster up courage to tell this story after all it's in the past. One morning I went to Aguda Surulere, Lagos to see a friend. After finishing a bottle of chilled star each three of us in the room. We wanted to be high even higher than a Royal Highness, My friend said he will provide whiskey, he bought a bottle of coke and schnapp mixe them together. We finished it, he prepared another whiskey We wan high na. We finish am, another came till the 4th one. We got drunk, messed the whole room vomiting I slept till evening was weak because I didn't eat. I say I no go near alcohol again, for where? One holiday afternoon I felt like getting high again, I began sippin a bottle of big alomo, something whispered to me "guy u go fit finish this one bottle nothing go happen" Before a short time I empty the bottle, my eyes started shutting down like a computer. I tried to keep it wide open to remain awake, for where? I slept for 4 hours and woke up to see people around me, they saw what happened and thought I was dead. I refused to look at the girls there, it was embarrassing. I was like let the ground open and swallow me. Feel free to share yours. ![]() |

BE BOLD It goes without saying that in a place like Nigeria especially Lagos, you have to be bold. I am not talking about just being confident which I will explain in my next point. When I say bold, I mean you have to step out and do the things that you are afraid of, like your life depends on it. You have to do things that may seem pretty ridiculous. You have to feel the fear and make the bold step anyway. This is not a place that rewards timidity. BE CONFIDENT If you show any signs of insecurity or weaknesses they will be exploited in a place like Nigeria. So you have to equip yourself with all the knowledge and skills to do what you say you can do and become very confident at it. In addition you have to walk confidently, talk confidently and speak confidently. Sometimes this will mean looking inwards and taking a real look at your strengths and weaknesses. Then start to do the things that make you feel confident. There is no stiff upper lip here. Confidence is rewarded. RESERVE TRUST Don’t go into relationships or engagements fully trusting people until they have proven themselves trust worthy. Always be cautious. Growing up, I was taught to trust people on face value until they show you who they are but in Nigeria you have to ‘ shine your eyes ‘ very quickly, a local word meaning wake up and look at what is really happening. Be cautious with information you see on websites and social media because a lot of it is hype. Look out for social proof and referrals. FIND NETWORKS Nigeria is a networking paradise. Most people are hospitable and love to talk. The best deals often come from word of mouth. There are many ways you can network here, which may include attending industry related events and from building relationships. Stay in touch with people and don’t call people up only when you want something from them, rather check to see how they are doing. There’s a lot of ”Scratch my back and I will scratch your back” (returning favours) in this environment, so make the most of it. DON’T TAKE THINGS TOO SERIOUSLY Nigeria and by extension is chaotic and things don’t work in the way you maybe used to. You might end up getting really sick though if you complain about everything happening in the country. Always aspire for excellence in your own dealings. Have a deeper purpose beyond your immediate comforts. If you are going to complain about the roads, the light and everything that is not working, then because you will be frustrated. Sometimes joke about the bad situation of things, it's common here in Nairaland. FIND YOUR PURPOSE From my experience, Nigeria is actually a place where you can find your purpose. With so many gaps and opportunities, you can really self actualize here. Nigeria is a place where you can be been able to maximize all your skills and gifts and may still discover more. Do your research and see where those gaps are and come home and do something unique and different. If you want to pour out yourself to others, then this is the place to do it. Because people plenty especially in Lagos. TRUST GOD Nigeria is still a very religious nation. The God factor is still very present, even in business. Nigeria is a place where you have to totally trust in your Maker and not in man. Because most of the system systemis I'll. This environment will challenge your faith at times but you have to believe that God has a good plan for your life because he does. Moral: We shall make!!! Don't forget to add yours. |
What again? |
"Epic" in nairalanders voice. |
Note that this thread wasn't created to oppose the fact that the earth isn't safe. Look at these excerpts: Some nine countries are said to have the capacity to launch nuclear attacks. A few other nations appear to be in the process of developing their own nuclear weapons. And terrorist organizations are only too eager to get hold of them. Pollution, overpopulation, overharvesting, habitat destruction, and climate change contribute to the extinction of animal species perhaps as much as 1,000 times more than natural rates. But there are also growing fears of biological weapons, man-made diseases. Experts in the field say that a small group of people who are trained in key disciplines could buy equipment on the Internet and produce deadly biological weapons. many hold the cause to be the burning of coal, oil, and natural gas—fossil fuels that emit high amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere—by cars and industry can make the earth uninhabitable soon. Some experts believe that those emissions act like a greenhouse, slowing the escape of heat from the earth into space and causing temperatures to rise. Because trees absorb carbon dioxide, large-scale deforestation may also contribute to climate change. A larger asteroid, of course, would do much more damage, generating immense firestorms, which would be followed by plummeting global temperatures and major extinctions. Apart from the immediate destructive power, global climate change would cause crop failure, disrupt food supplies, and lead to mass starvation. But we are confident the creator will not allow the earth to become uninhabitable, or allow these threats to destroy the world. He alone can bring about the end or destruction of the world. |

Counter Thread, Why Natural Elements Can Not Destroy The World. by ableguy |
Levi5384:So true my brother. |
Strawman:You are right my brother, I have already created a counter thread. |

Thanks so help me call, lala. |
For those that believe in a creator. Scientists have proposed various scenarios by which the earth could be destroyed or rendered uninhabitable. Sometimes called existential risks, these include natural disasters—such as asteroid or comet impact, supervolcanoes, the death of the sun, or global warming—and they also include man-made catastrophes—such as nuclear war or bioterrorism. WHY DOES IT MATTER? Belief that the earth will eventually be destroyed has caused some to plunder its precious resources. It has caused others to lose hope for the future and to live only for today. This can lead to a life with little meaning or purpose. How we should see the end of the world. From God's standpoint as outlined in Bible. 1: The end will surely come. Mattew 24:14. 2: God's word assures us there will survivors and what we need to do to survive. Proverbs 2:21,22. 3: The end of the world will not be an epic, flaming destruction by steroids and the likes. God will not allow the earth to be destroyed as he assured us in the Bible. Psalm 105: 4, Ecclesiastics 1:4 and Isaiah 45:18. 4: The end will not be a random, unscheduled events. Like steroids and other natural disasters. Mark 13:32, RS: “Of that day or that hour no ones knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” This clearly shows that the Almighty God has an appointed time for the end and he alone can initiate the end. So in all it is safe to conclude that scientific calculations or debris falling from the space will not bring about the end of the world. I hope these few points will help us tackle some misunderstanding. |
