Politics / Re: Nigeria To Become 30th Largest Economy By 2014 by Abok1(m): 11:56am On Apr 17, 2013 |
What I don't understand is if this thread is about Nigeria or Southafrica? I am trying to understand why someone has turned an informative thread to a joystick measuring competition? Please go to Randland and leave Nairaland and Nigerians alone. 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: Repentant Abia Criminals Demand For Amnesty by Abok1(m): 11:37am On Apr 16, 2013 |
with the way we are going in this country, witches and wizards will seek for amnesty And while at it, the corrupt politicians would also seek amnesty from the government, all because of the unintelligent policies of the government. We have succeeded in rubbishing the true meaning of amnesty, to the point where petty thieves and criminals now seek amnesty. These are people that should be behind bars for their crimes, amnesty should only come onto play when the people on question are fighting injustice not when the group people are kidnappers, wrecking havoc for their personal gains. 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: Bill To Stop Overseas Medical-Treatments For Officials Underway by Abok1(m): 11:28am On Apr 16, 2013 |
nmagirl: apart from the fact that the bill won't go past the first reading, how do we sufficiently determine that a government official is funding his medical trip from personal money and not the tax payer's money? When the money in his account in the first place is the government money already looted. We don't need any bill on health care, what we need is a focus on the development of the healthcare infrastructures across the country a feat that would encourage patronage of these facilities. Even if the elites chose to go overseas for their healthcare needs, the better infrastructures would serve the masses. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: No Regrets About Alamieyeseigha's Pardon - Presidency by Abok1(m): 11:37am On Apr 14, 2013 |
the president needs to recognise the importance of perception in governance. If the people considers you as being in support of corruption, the president should not make decisions that justifies the people's perception. The painful bit is the attitude of "I owe no man an explanation", which to me makes him look like someone who has misplaced priorities. The truth is that he swore to defend this people, and they have every right to question his decisions. The president needs to be educated on the issue of diplomacy and carrying the people along when making important decisions. I believe if he feels he's too big to be accountable to the masses, he should stay in Aso rock and not bother to come out to campaign for votes in the upcoming elections. 15 Likes |
Politics / Re: NBC Fines Liberty Radio Kaduna For Airing Call Against Good Governance Tour by Abok1(m): 11:28am On Apr 14, 2013 |
Profidada: A welcome development i must say. When it comes to the issue of media tolerance i think gej should be commended. In this country there is no difference between freedom of speech and character deformation. why should every voice against the government be considered a threat? If the presidency channels the same amount of effort towards the fight against corruption, I'm sure this country would be better than the way it is right now. If the president considers someone as attacking his character, the president has every right to sue them in the court of law. If the president doesn't want to take criticism, he should resign and forget bout leading the country, or let me rephrase ruling the country. We can not afford to lose the importance of democracy and the essence of the freedom speech, rather than sending the security agencies against every form of resistance, the president should prove this people wrong. There is a sying that "A man accused of stealing should not be seen playing with another mans goat" . What is he so scared of hiding from the people that stood under the sun to vote him into power? This is the same mentality that makes every government official consider himself a mini god and when they are no longer in power, they suddenly become remorseful and identify with the masses. The attitude changes once they get back into power, the people will not complain if the government performs its duties. After all is said and done, what would the president want to be remembered for? Bearing this in mind will go a long way in determining he decisions he makes now. . |
Sports / Re: A Tale Of Two Stadiums. Lagos And Abuja Stadiums... by Abok1(m): 12:58pm On Apr 13, 2013 |
Eko Ile: Rather than facing the issue at hand and acknowledging FG's incompetence in the management of infrastructures and resources, the political lapdog would rather shift the blame to someone being an opposition. When did being an opposition makes it impossible to point accusing fingers to the authority when they are acting irresponsibly? Rather than addressing the issue, the Fg chose the easy way out which is handing over the management to a third party. While this is not a bad idea its becoming nauseating by the day. i think the FG should as well hand over the governance and the security of the whole country to private companies, because they are also incompetent in those areas. What does it take to employ a responsible approach for once? Power is not working, we privatise; Telecoms not functioning well, we privatise; then why do we have the ministry of works and the ministry of sports. Every thing seems to be mismanaged and we are complaining of the non-employment of youths when the answer is starring us in the face. Do you know how many jobs would be created for the youths by simply creating a department to manage these stadiums around the country? 1 Like |
Webmasters / Re: Nigeria Has No Functional Official Web Portal by Abok1(m): 10:14am On Apr 13, 2013 |
thelastPope: please, if you don't know what to say don't talk. How long does it take to develop a word class website? What are they developing for two years, is it a social media portal. What's the point in having the domain name registered without a functional website in place, this singular act shows the level of non professionalism that occurs in our government agencies. And someone is trying to justify this as being okay. |
