The other trash u wrote up their were all approved by the senate that comprises of your apc member all what u wrote their were approved in the budget.this ur straw clutching didnt answer the question i asked u

If boko haram is not a serous challenge to the country as claimd the nigeria does not have serious challenges how come you party is using it as a campaign tool?

Opinion they say is like the nose, everyone has one. I am from the southern part of the country, my state is not governed by an APC governor, your logic about belonging to a party beggars believe. I presume your conclusion is drawn from the perception that anyone not kowtowing to GEJ must be a member of APC. Sorry to disappoint you, your observation is flawed and baseless. I don't care if the next President emerges from APGA as long as that person is not running the country like a local government chairman.

Now to your question on BokoHaram, the challenge posed by BH is not as big as the Nigerdelta struggle when our crude oil exploration dropped because Nigeria was producing 2.5 million barrels of oil per day prior to the outbreak of violence in the Niger Delta in 2006.
Production was reduced to about 1.3 million, sufficiently cutting the income by close to 50%, tell me how this wouldn't affect the fund accruing to the OBJ administration? we are talking about a country whose major source of income is from crude oil.

You guys can keep on posting rhetorical questions which feels like witzelsucht, lacking in facts and an effeminate attempt at lulling the masses into oculoplania, but the figures don't lie Sir.

To buttress my point again..

SLS is a strong believer of defending the naira

Soludo didn't believe much in that and here is another evidence

While SLS spent a whooping $117bn defending the naira, Soludo spent only $57bn

So can you see now that while other regimes may have defended the naira, SLS did more than them.

The question should be.. What is better, defending the naira or devalue it.... In any of these, the question should be directed to the CBN governors not the president.

http://www.punchng.com/business/global-finance/the-logic-of-nairas-devaluation/

Abok1:

To answer your question, by your own admission, if these funds were not taken from the external reserves, then how do you justify the depletion of the external funds in such a short period by 50%. You have unknowingly admitted that some of the points you made earlier about higher recurrent expenditures are as a result of recklessness of GEJ, which further buttresses my point on his eligibility for a 2nd term.

Lets examine your reasons for the depletion:
1. to defend the Naira
Should we now give him a medal for defending the Naira? GEJs presidency is not the only administration to defend the Naira. The question is, why were the previous Presidents able to increase the External reserve, while GEJ depleted it?

2. Bail out private sector
Laughable, because at N25 Billion cash injection for 10 banks is still not up to $3billion. So how do you justify this line of argument?

3. Subsidy
We all know that GEJ and his cronies syphoned the subsidy funds and performed one of the greatest heist in the world to cover their tracks by removing subsidy and blaming it on the cabal. How do you explain over 200% increase in subsidy payments in just a year, except there are some shady deals somewhere. Figures don't lie.

If GEJ led by example, by not asking for ridiculous amount of money for feeding and Jets, the ministers would not have the audacity to misuse public funds. 1.6 million spent by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to purchase the armored BMW cars for Nigeria’s Aviation Minister Stella Oduah would not be spent, neither would the Petroleum Minister hire a private Jet for N10billion.

On the laughable claim that GEJ made Nigerian economy the largest in africa, we all know that you can't make an economy the largest with bletcherous policies, because going by the analogy of Nigeria becoming one of the leading economies in Africa, this is an inevitable occurrence which was going to happen no matter the action or inaction of GEJ. China, India and Brazil are doing so well primarily because of their population which allows them to maximise output.

datolee:

We have arrived at one conclusion, Obj left $ 3 billion debt after clearing the debt.. judging by the rate he accumulated the new debt, GEJ is prudent in his borrowing
So lets go to another question... You keep talking about depletion of external reserve... answer the question.. Depleting the reserve to do what other than defending the naira?. If they used it for any other purpose, please state so we all can shame this "wasteful" government.

Datolee, I have answered your questions, waiting for your rebuttal. Can we now shame this wasteful government as you suggested? Your word should be your bond.

Firstly, let us be clear on one thing. You can check my previous posts on this Fora, I am not a member of APC, nor do I profess to support any political party. But merely disappointed by the performance of the GEJ administration and a further 4 years of this is suicidal. Reason is, if GEJ could not salvage the situation when he is trying to impress and gain the support of the masses towards his 2nd term. Is it when he get the 2nd term and doesn't need the people that he would perform miracles? considering the fact that most administrations perform less impressively in their second terms.

Since we are clear on my political affiliation, we can focus on the deficiencies of the GEJ administration.

datolee:

Thank you, but please know that the recession of 2007 started with private sector with government pumping money to save the private sector, by 2011, the effect had gotten to the government sector. Please read here about the five stages of the recession from 2007 to 2011
http://www.theguardian.com/business/2011/aug/07/global-financial-crisis-key-stages
I ask the same question, was Naira under stress more than it was under OBJ and Yaradua? the answer is yes
Was the external reserve used to defend the Naira, the answer is yes
I will believe my Government except you can provide us any link what other uses the external reserve was used for.

The recession was felt because the world as become a global village where, when someone sneezes in Texas, the effects are felt in China. But that aside, Nigeria is one of the few countries in the world which doesn't rely fully on the private sector. The Nigerian case of underperformance of the private sector vis-a-vis the banks was because of the recklessness of the key players without being checkmated by the then CBN management. This doesn't in any way mean that the real global recession affected our private sector. To arrive at a valid conclusion, we need to note that the global recession was mainly caused by

The bursting of the U.S. (United States) housing bubble, which peaked in 2006, caused the values of securities tied to U.S. real estate pricing to plummet, damaging financial institutions globally. The financial crisis was triggered by a complex interplay of policies that encouraged home ownership, providing easier access to loans for (lending) borrowers, overvaluation of bundled subprime mortgages based on the theory that housing prices would continue to escalate, questionable trading practices on behalf of both buyers and sellers, compensation structures that prioritize short-term deal flow over long-term value creation, and a lack of adequate capital holdings from banks and insurance companies to back the financial commitments they were making.

Which meant that the private sector of the Nigerian economy should normally be immune from the effect because or mortgage sectors are not directly linked to the international policies. Attempting to link the two unrelated events is an act of skoptsy, which doesn't help in validating your line of argument.

datolee:

I will believe my Government except you can provide us any link what other uses the external reserve was used for.

I will give you a few 'uses'

National conference with nothing to show for it.
$20 Billion missing funds which could have increased the external reserve
#1 Billion budgeted for food
Budgeting N2.2 billion for a “befitting banqueting hall in Aso Rock Villa,” as was the case last year (2012)
N34.5 million for the feeding of lions in the Aso Rock Zoo.

One particularly disgusting item in the 2014 budget is the provision of N1.6 billion as deposit for the purchase of a new aircraft for the presidential fleet that already boasts a record 10 planes and is ranked among the most luxurious worldwide. The profligate presidential fleet is complemented with an extravagant motorcade and glamorous lifestyle. Only two domestic airlines have that many aircraft. Nigerians need to know how much money goes into the maintenance of this large fleet of non-commercial aircraft.
In 2011, N18 billion was reportedly budgeted to maintain the presidential aircraft.

You are free to create your thread on any state, I will be glad to engage you. However, We are talking of Federal Government Under Jonathan.

Let's stick to it

GEJ is like one whom kleptomaniac traits are enshrined in his DNA that it would take unparagoned level of divine intervention to cure him of it. How else can we account for the high level of irresponsibility on the side of GEJ? He makes purposeless decisions while neglecting the important issues.

datolee:

I really wished you didn't bring this link up because it clearly nullifies everything you had written. While GEJ haven't performed to expectation, it is uncharitable to pass the burden created by many decades of under-development in this country on him.
Since you have moved to performance and the "clueless" GEJ is to be blamed, please state to us what infrastructures the previous government had done that GEJ destroyed.
I can understand, some times we try to prove a point with a link, but you should try to read your link before you post it as a back up. Just from the headline, FG, states, LGAs squander N80 trn in 9 years... so why did you find it convenient to exonerate the states and LG from the misrule? why focus on FG alone? Not only that, why did you cut down the years from 9 to only the 3 - 4 years of GEJ?

I'm sure @Barcanista focused on GEJ's administration because with regards to this thread, the critique in on his performance, and it behoves his patrons to come out with facts and not distort information. When it comes to infrastructure, no administration can match the level of investments made by the IBB regime, that it makes GEJ look like a failure. You are asking about infrastructures when the link I provided earlier highlighted the input of the OBJ administration in the area of power.

OBJ inherited a government still suffering the effects of the different military administrations, laid the foundations of the new dispensation and started the privatisation drive with meaningful investments in the power sector, most of which are now coming into fruition during this administration.

The only way out of this quagmire is to admit that GEJ failed compared to his predecessors, considering the level of gains made from the sale of crude oil which is our primary source of income as a nation.

Here is the response of the FG, just a part of it

“However, since President Obasanjo left office, the reserves have experienced fluctuations, rising from $43.13 billion in May 2007, peaking at $62 billion in September 2008 during the Yar’Adua/Jonathan Administration when oil prices peaked at $147 per barrel, and falling subsequently to a low of $31.7 in September 2011.”
Maku added: “This fall in reserves was a result of the vicissitudes of the global financial crisis which caused CBN interventions in the currency market to defend the value of the naira.

What is k-leg here? I have asked you the same question, was Naira under pressure due to global financial crisis? Did CBN use the external reserve to defend the Naira instead of devaluing the naira as recommended by IMF?

You argument really lack merit and it's hereby dismissed grin grin grin

Pray tell, which global financial crises could be as massive compared to the one the world witnessed between 2007 - 2009 (during Yar'Aduas time) and Yar'Adua still managed to increase the foreign reserve to 62 billion in September 2008. Our nelipot GEJ still reduced the same by almost 50% in less than 3 years and the only defence is "protecting the Naira", which as a matter of fact has always been the practice since time immemorial.

Don't make it sound like the economy of Nigeria was in dire straights when it doesn't, neither do we have an emergency situation warranting the depletion of the foreign reserve by close to 50%. The previous administrations also defended the Naira and reduced the debt profile with notable increase in savings, while our dear GEJ budgeted N1 Billion on feeding, allocated funds for the purchase of new presidential aircrafts, paid for the national conference jamboree from the national coffers, travelled with more than necessary delegates thereby making a mockery of the office which he holds, and you expect the foreign reserve not to deplete? No wonder the world leaders keeps on disrespecting us as a nation left, right and centre, when our President doesn't understand the consequences of his actions and inactions as the case may be.

I am not surprised at the characteristics and underlying traits inherent in most of the individuals making spontaneous panegyric eulogy about GEJ are persons with underlying tendencies to be ventripotent, I wonder who as an individual would entrust their public image to a quomodocunquized person who's integrity is non-existing to say the least.

Apart from Datolee, who sounds enlightened and factual, the others consistently make an effeminate attempt at objectivity which constantly shows that they are (without mincing words) "classless"

While defending the GEJ government is an exercise in futility, I would still applaud the few pundits trying to do so. @Datolee keeps on harping on year on year expenditure as a reason why the GEJ government is performing, without being candid on the variables playing significant roles in the different administrations. The simple reason why GEJ failed is because the underlying performance vis-à-vis the accrued income from production has significantly increased during his tenure, when compared to his predecessors. The question is, why should GEJ be aiming to match the OBJ administration which had the militants blowing up pipelines thereby reducing production, and a lower price of the crude oil as a result of a world still suffering the effects of the global recession?

Military:
One of the numerous lies being touted by the TANoids is that Jonathan had to borrow some funds to tackle Boko Haram, but on closer inspection, we realise that most of the monies allocated are just mere façade with nothing tangible to show for it. How else do we explain the budgeting of over $2Billion without any major acquisition so far with regards to the hardware procurement?

Obasanjo purchased 15 Chinese Chengdu F-7s, at a cost of approx. $7 million per unit, GEJ hasn't purchased any meaningful asset for the NAF since he was sworn in, apart from allocating funds for increasing the presidential air fleet and the acquisition of VIP transport equipments. The recent delivery of the mi-35m hind helicopters were from a previous agreement and not part of the $2Billion emergency allocation. In order to hoodwink the unsuspecting masses, a shady deal was schemed with a religious leader and the SA government, to make us think that they are making use of the funds.

Okay, $15 million was seized by the S.A government(which has been released), this still leaves a massive $1.995 Billion unaccounted for. The Russian ambassador came out to say that Nigeria should be specific with what they want from the Russian government with regards to hardware for our military, till now nothing has been done. It is either GEJ is clueless or someone is comfortable with maintaining the status-quo with regards to the insurgency situation.

Power:
Obasanjo, though not an ideal example on accountability when compared to the standards which this nation should aspire to attain, made some giant strides with tackling the situation. The major problem during his time was the over-inflated contracts and so on. But in his defence, he laid the foundations for approximately 70% or more of the power projects currently being claimed by the present administration.

Source: http://constructionreviewonline.com/2014/09/02/power-equipment-released-nigeria-ports-help-boost-power-supply/

From the source provided, over 248 containers of needed equipments to complete the various power projects have been stuck in the ports for 11 years. Even with the groundwork done by the OBJ and Yaradua administrations, GEJ cannot improve the power situation in the country if his life depends on it. This shows that something is fundamentally wrong with his administration with regards to implementation of budgetary allocations.

Infrastructure:
Lagos - Ibadan express way:

The FG came out early this year to state that they won't be making concessions on this project, which I personally feel is a good move. This revelation was questioned by analysts, citing the non-existence of allocation for this project in the National budget for the year. As usual, no plausible explanation has been given as to how GEJ would magically get the funds to prosecute this project.

2nd Niger Bridge:
Same scenario as the Ibadan express way; In fact, the GEJ administration and others before him has made it a tradition to always mention this project in their campaigns in order to gain more votes from the eastern part of the country.

We were made to believe that the money saved from the removal of subsidy from the petrol would go into SURE-P as "palliatives", I am yet to see anyone stating that they've seen any of these buses in their area, unless the buses are invisible or microscopic.

As a matter of principle, I surround myself with millionaires and intellects, if i want to be intelligent and wealthy, its all in the will power and association. The question should be, what calibre of people surround Jonathan? Who are his advisers and PR guys? The answer is simply embarrassing to say the least.

On one hand you've got the militants, on the other side you have ex-convicts, pardoned thieves, that it would suffice to call the president "GEJ and the forty thieves" and you are 100% spot on.

The GEJ supporters forget so fast that they are part of the same party holding the masses to ransom for the last 15 years, PDP. The presidents handlers are incompetent in the delivery of their duties and in saner climes, they have no business in governance let alone being associated with the president. While the President makes no effort whatsoever to change the status quo, but would rather make assumptions in addressing the problem. constantly blaming the opposition for his woes, when he is the commander in chief of a sovereign nation. If the oppositions hands are not clean, make efforts to prosecute them, and if you can't then focus on delivering good governance to the masses.

When the president lists wining the african nations cup as an achievement, speaks volume about the mediocre standard set by his administration.

In this trying times when the sanity of the populace is constantly under stress from the Aeolists in power, no thanks to our Nelipot President who chose to dine with the corrupt and people of Jumentous existence, with no ounce of integrity, the only hope is for the people to support the opposition.

The Jonathanians when asked to state the reason why we should give GEJ another 4 years, would not provide a viable response which is devoid of ethnical undertones, bile and religious hatred. They miss the true meaning of governance which is built on a foundation of service to humanity and to one's conscience. When asked why the opposition is wrong, they make Gambrinous statements like someone suffering form a chronic case of lalochezia and the president himself, an eccedentesiast constantly fanning the embers of hatred when given the slightest opportunity.

Like a Morosoph which they are, they lack the required wherewithal to intellectually prove their points without resorting to insults. In plain terms, tell us why APC is bad, they will dodge this rhetorical question and resort to throwing tantrums based on unfounded hear-says "APC is muslim brotherhood".

When the government makes mistakes, we are not allowed to object without being tagged part of the opposition, as if theres a written rule somewhere which makes it a crime to ask questions. Politics in Nigeria as gone to the dogs.

Kill APC today and over 50% of Nigeria's problem would disappear automatically.

We need an opposition party no doubt but not one in the mode of APC. APC is EVIL

Did you actually read what you wrote up there before submitting?
Because if you did, i don't think you would have the confidence to posit that this bletcherous act of the DSS spokesperson is justified based on the actions of the opposition.

The foundations of a successful society is built on morals, which, if the opposition are in the wrong, has been dragged through the mud by the DSS; an organisation which should be noted for their non-partisan standards are found embroiled in war of words with a mere political party. Rather than sounding like an aeolist, the DSS could have won the moral fight by remaining professional at all times without resorting to mud slinging, i don't care who's ox is gored, that is the least they owe the nation.

The determination of the people, while it may look like an act of stupidity to the opposition is in fact a state of Strikhedonia. By acting in solidarity with the incumbent governor not only with their voices, but by their actions shows how courageous Nigerians could be when pushed to the wall.

ROSSIKE:

Is it not shameful that you and your cohorts would choose to use the unused land outside the MMA area as an excuse to condemn it, and then shuffle around looking for excuses for Manchester airport?

And what have you to say about the OTHER airports I posted? What's your excuse for Charles de Gaulle, Shannon, and Dallas, or you didn't see the overgrown grass in their airport vicinity?

By the way, you seem to be on a journey of delusion by insisting we ''compare MMA to Heathrow rather than Gatwick'' etc.... Do you realise you're from a developing nation with a GDP less than 1/8th of the UK? My goodness.

If you compare the overgrown grasses in the pictures you posted above with the tropical forest bushes in MMA, then I can only conclude that you have to be capernoited to make such comparisons.

Nobody is expecting Nigeria to be in the levels of the UK overnight, the comparison came into fore based on the image of Gatwick that was posted above.

Before I continue in this discourse, you need to understand my standpoint which is:
1. Nemo Debet Locupletari Ex Aliena Jactura (no one should be enriched by another's loss)
We shouldn't bring out the drums yet when the noticeable developments in the aviation sector is still abecedarian, which is not in tandem with the amount of funds spent.

2.We cannot gloat over seemingly shabby projects and start beating our chests while at the same time tell the dissenting voices to keep quiet when you and I know that more works needs to be done.

The problem with Nigeria is its citizens; we forget so easily once we are close to any sitting government and we applaud every mediocre achievements when we could have done better. The politicians (APC and PDP) feel that everyone should be grateful for whatever project they decide to do, like they are doing us a favour by doing the projects. They continue in their disregard for the populace because all they need to do is silence the dissenting voices by attacking their personalties or paying some stooges to engage them in an alectryomachy, with a view to keeping them shut. When did it become a crime to ask questions?

PapaBrowne:

When People start telling us to look to London and Frankfurt as standards in less than 3 years of an administration that means Nigeria is making progress at supersonic speeds.

I agree with you. And thanks for admitting that there is tremendous progress.

By the time the 5 brand new terminals are opened what will you tell us to compare with? Dubai's $32 billion Al maktoum Airport? Or the Shanghai Pudong international?

My big question to you Mr Otokx, why aren't you as smart as your peers in Frankfurt and London who are breaking the bounds of technology. Is the house you live as neat and organized as the one lived by your mates in Frankfurt and London. Do you pay your taxes like the Frankfurter and Londoner does? What contributions in service have you made to your immediate society in comparison to the Frankfurter and Londoner. Mr if you want Frankfurt and London quality, you the citizen must input the same quality that the Frankfurter and Londoner inputs. Simple.

It would be better for you to sate your points without being an ultracrepidarian, by making baseless assumptions and accusations. It is simply Animus Furandi for you to assume that someone is not smart merely because he questioned the quality of the project we are all applauding.

My question to you all is this:
Are you all PDP laptop dogs? Because by your response to @otokx you (taharqa, rossike, and PapaBrowne), have succeeded in calling yourself that name.

The essence of my question is to be able to posit your patriotic response to the critical submissions of the other forumites. I wanted to be sure that you are replying as patriots, which I am now sure that you are not. You are simply responding as paid stooges who would deceive the unsuspecting populace with a disguised knismesis aimed at distracting them from asking the right questions.

Your submission would have made more sense if you had made a balanced observation while recognising the fact that Nigeria still has a long way to go, rather than attacking every dissenting voices like yours is a case of chronic lalochazia.

Get a life you spiteful dullard.... Airports are not required to ''nice up'' the entire area surrounding them. Here's Gatwick airport... I don't see any great landscaping going on.... we can equally call it ''this dirty absurdity with overgrown bush all over''........Dullard.

Gatwick airport UK

Is it not shameful that you would stoop so low in your bid to deceive unsuspecting people by showing them pictures of Gatwick with an overgrown bush, without noting that the area shown in your picture is the Air-plane graveyard. The section of the airport where old airplane are left to rot. Not only is your basis of comparison flawed, there are three airports in London (Heathrow, Stanstead, Gatwick) out of which Gatwick is not classified as the main airport, Heathrow is.

If you want to compare Airports, compare MMA with Heathrow, or even Manchester airport

bloggernaija: On point.
These guys are behaving like tomatoes sellers.
They have reduced their own presidency to nothing .

It is not surprising to note that our politicians in general do not understand the ethics of politics, all of them are in it for financial gains which is why they become cacoethes when they get in power. They have forgotten that with a public office comes the responsibility and accountability to the citizens. They lack class or tact, with no idea whatsoever on what their reaction to situations should be; no orientation or a clear idea of what they stand for in terms of ideology or school of thought.

They simply believe that by insulting their opponents, they are perceived to have won and they fail to notice the charientism in the ensuing applause, because they wouldn't notice how foolish their utterances makes them look.

Being a president comes with duty, with duty comes responsibility, the responsibility to the populace who voted them in, and insulting an elder statesman is not what is expected of a siting president. This is why it baffles me what the PR guys are being paid to do if they fail in performing their duties. By making gambrinous statements and calling it an official response does a disservice to the credibility of the office of the president.

I am quite taken aback by the pessimism of the author of this article. While the author might be armed with salient points, the one-sidedness of his observation plays a disservice to the intent of the entire write up. This leads to my suspicion that the article is sponsored to ridicule the person of the governor.

This wouldn't be surprising as our dear Nelipot president would go to any length to achieve his aim of quashing the opposition, while this to me feels like a sciamachy and an effeminate attempt at attacking a perceived political opponent, GEJ could do with a little bit of finesse in his approach.

If the so called leaders are the ones fighting over crumbs falling down from the tables of the Ventripotent thieves in power, what should we expect from the youths. Rather than standing up for what is right, they would rather sell the future of their children for a miserly 40 million. I still can't get myself to believe that a sane group of representative of an ethnic group would sell out for 40 million, in the face of neglect and the abject poverty currently ravishing their enclaves.

The empty promises of shangri-la are yet to be fulfilled three years after the previous election which brought in the Nelipot president, they would rather keep quiet and resign to their wanweird.

I weep for Nigeria.

I can't help but be amused at some comments by the pro GEJ guys in this thread. It is not out of place for Fashola to take pictures with the Microsoft executives because he is a Diplomat and protocols demands that he shows courtesy by taking pictures. Microsoft is a major player in the technological sphere, and as part of their corporate social responsibilities, they need to give back to the less privileged, which in this case Africa easily comes to mind. By taking pictures is a form of documentary evidence for the archives of the corporation. I'm quite taken aback by the pessimistic tendencies of some pro GEJ pundits who would rather celebrate the bletcherous policies of the aeoliststs in power than commend the efforts of a governor that has the goodwill of the people behind him.

Based on their lust for pandering to their gluttonous appetite, they would rather make gambrinous statements and castigate a governor who has chosen to be proactive in the face of dissenting voices, at a time when looting the national treasury seems to be a thing of pride among the other governors.
