Hahahahah. We are still struggling to effectively manage domestic wastes. A nation with such a sloppy record of safety shouldn't even delve into Nuclear Plant, let alone have them built by the Chinese and Russians.

Just keep those plants aware from the SS!
don't quote me rather quote the guy that advocated for nuclear power plants to be accelerated built by the Chinese and Russians in order to achieve an impossible election promise. even that won't even achieve the target.

I'm going to make an argument from my experience in the power sector as a Power Systems Engineer. It costs $1.5 million to generate 1MW by gas (If the pipelines and metering stations exist). For solar, it's depends on the technology involved which is far costlier than gas. For wind, it is 10 times more expensive than solar (Depending on the technology of solar). Coal is kind of cheaper than the rest. Now building a power plant above 750MW ranges from 15 months to 24 months (note this is just construction). From planning to design to logistics to financing to construction and commissioning takes 4 - 5 years except for Nuclear which can take longer than 5 years due to planning.
Secondly, the transmission capacity right now (last time I checked) is 6000MW. Distribution is a different matter entirely. My point is in order to get 20000MW to the country, we are looking in excess of $35 Billion for generation alone.
that was why i made only a passing remark about the financial implication because i know it's not financially possible. my major point is that it's not even technically possible. and buhari is still making more promises. two days ago, he promised to bring water from central African republic to lake Chad. i just de look this country.

what a shame such illiterates analysis. You dont need more than 8 power plants of just 2.5 MWatts to achieve that. And 2.5 Mw plant is not even a major big power plant.
Infact with just 2 nuclear power plants 20Mw can be achieved. With $10 billion you can build an 8-12 Mw power plant. So with just $20 billion NNPC Unremitted funds power will be stable. Your only weapon which you are ignorant of is the timeframe of 4 years. I gave you that for free. Nuclear power plants takes an average of 5-7 years to complete but thanks to chinese and russians you can have accelarated construction.
Thank god Nigeria has the technology and are already enriching uranium since 2006 at the nuclear research institute and we have already built an reactor in 2006 under Prof Shamsuddeen. Even the IAEA were here when the reactor was lunched.
During OBJ's regime a contract has already been awarded but was cancelled by Yar'adua/Jonathan regime. All GMB have to do is pursue this.
It is only nuclear that can give such lump of MWat in one plant. All developed countries of the world use Nuclear plant for base load. Solar, wind can never give us the desired result.
Hydro have limitations currently the only major hydro power plant possible in the country Mambilla thats all and cannot give us desired result.
Gas plants we need atleast 8 plants and then we will face the problem of gas transportation due to pipeline vandalisation which is the major dilenma we are currently facing.
So Op which analysis gave you 30,000 power plants? Even USA with their population, land area, industries doesnt have 200 power plants all over the country.
All Nigeria needs is 4-5 Nuclear power plants to attain 50Mw status which is more than what we need. And we have the uranium here in Nigeria no need for importing the nuclear fuel.
The excess Mwatts can be a source of income by selling it to Niger republic, Ghana, Togo, and other west african states.
THIS IS FEASIBLE TECHNOLOGICAL AND ECONOMICALLY
by your own analysis, you have accepted that such a feat is impossible in four years and that's all that matters. i don't want to waste energy on the plain stupidity of building two nuclear power plants in lagos by Russians or Chinese.

Building 20, 000Mw generating plant(s) is possible in four years but the major problems are transmission/distribution systems and constant supply of gas (fuel)

I just want the governor of Lagos State, Fashola to be appointed Minister for power to see him fulfill his promises of providing constant power supply to a population of Lagos State and the Industrial facilities in 6 to 8 months.

No time for excuses
that means he would build thousands of power plants going from site selection to evacuation, building and operation within 8 months. even with the numerous power plants currently under construction by GEJ coming in to production, that would be impossible.

well-deliver-20000mw-four-years/ . i sincerely enjoy your analysis and would like to remind you of this promise by buhari that he would generate 20,000 megawatts of electricity within four years. i have don a little analysis and come to the conclusion that they would need to build atleast 30,000 new power plants within four years to achieve that which is not feasible. also remember the impossible cost implication. thanks and remain blessed

Why will they say thathuh
I don't want to hear that o... Buhari must deliver change
1. A Dollar must be equal to a Naira. grin
2. Buhari will stabilize global oil price. grin
3. Buhari will feed all school children.
4. Buhari will provide 2 million jobs grin
5. Buhari will pay jobless youth 5,000 each every month, besides, we have the money.
6. Buhari will finally give amnesty to Bokoharam. (besides, they are now freedom fighters and he once advocated for it.) grin
7. Buhari will build new prisons so as to incarcerate kworuft people.
8. Etc...

Please let's support Buhari and his agents of change(Tinubu, Saraki, Atiku, Amaechi, Obasanjo), There must be change.

By the way, Showyourcertificate, your topics always make front page, are you a mod??
you forgot to add that he will produce 20,000 megawatts of electricity within four years

Idiot if Biafra ever tried to succed, the Nigerian state would not grant safe haven to anyone who identifies with Biafra, I can immediately see an enforced border being put up. How would the Igbo man trade effectivty then.

Only if you know who my grandfather is you'd not even insinuate that it is possible that we can sell our land to some Igbos. With what money can you entice he who has much

Go ask your dead father's how the bullets of the Nigerian army ripped their useless bodies apart. 1966 would be child's play in comparison if you ever try that Biafra stunt again
sagamite when would u depart from ur ways. all thie e~rants won't help neither the biafrans nor the Nigerians

I take God beg una make una remember Nigeria in your prayers more often from now on.

Maybe with more prayers from you and the rest of us, our country would be blessed as a nation, and the blessings would trickle down to everyone of us, and eventually cleanse the kind of tribal/religious bigotry and hatred you exhibited in the original post.
Nigerians and their sense of confused piety. the only country that wins both the most corrupt and religious country since time immemorial. now they are topping it up with terrorism all in the name of religion. for ur information.

op stop shooting ir mouth in an online forum owned by a Yoruba Muslim, it makes u look silly. what we need is an online forum owned and managed by umuafo. besides, in as much as I'm pro biafra, leave it aside for now. we need to put more energy into uniting the igbos and our neighbouring minority tribes as achieved by ojukwu. I'm following u henceforth, i love ur passion but u need more long-term planning ability.

Christianity seems to be the religion that suffers silently from attack all over the world, because of our brlieve in peace. In movies we have seen churches burnt, used for drugs, men of God ridiculed and even presented as direct agents of Satan. Try this to Islam, "the so called religion of Peace" and see blood. Pope Benedict made a statement and churches were burnt. Yea, abuses exists, as in other religions, but what is happening is unacceptable. At the heat of these attacks is the Catholic, we believe in peace and freedom, and these are the consequences. Let us hold on because Christ preached and lived peace. If not for our convinction and firm believe in the words of Christ.... Our suffering is a proof to them of our faith. Lets look to Christ.
Christians especially Pentecostals are the cause. even in Nigerian movies, they attack popular pastors like Chris oyakilome and the Catholic church regularly. their sects thrive on dangerous fanaticism.
PoliticsRe: Presidency Shops For Jega’s Replacement - Vanguard News by abouzaid:
this is not a news report but plain propaganda. no Nigerian should take any so called news report based on UNNAMED sources. the simple truth is that if buhari is the president, he would bundle close down this newspaper and bundle their staffs into indefinite detention without trial for writing this sort of article against him. buhari have been summoned to appear in court today to defend his supposed certificate, that is the reason all types of so called newspapers are running all sorts of articles to make it look like PDP wants to have buhari disqualified unjustly but the simple truth is that he will atmost be asked to apply for a confirmation of result from either waec or Cambridge. the general held belief is that he doesn't have the said results and would be arrested and charged for perjury when exposed by Cambridge. also jega is bound to proceed on terminal leave come March 1, everybody does so including youth corp members l. the way jega handled the buhari certificate issue was very unprofessional, he would have asked him to attach either a copy of the original certificate or a confirmation of result from Cambridge instead r arrogantly telling tax payers to go to court. w confirmation of result is done by every student of higher institutions of learning before graduation, so why should buhari be any different? jega should also comment on issues raised about him receiving 150 laptops per northern state and giving PVCs to village heads to share in the north
