Another reason for the sit at home compliance is the unnecessary militarization of the state, nobody would step out after seeing all that war machines and armed personnel. People sees them as an army of occupation and is resisting them by sitting at home in order to ridicule them.

Onitsha residents are not happy with the cancellation, if IPOB continues with such policy changes in the future, they might end up losing the trust of the masses especially with MNK not been on ground to lead. I think most voters would stay home tomorrow regardless of how much the politicians are sharing at the polling units. People are just tired of this country and her politics.

When would Nigeria adopt intelligence based policing instead of brute force? All these security presence would only discourage voters while making making the locals more apprehensive of the security forces whom they consider an army of occupation.

Robbers suspected to be Fulani in the early hours of Wednesday attacked Nuku village in the Kaiama Local Government of Kwara State, leaving the villagers with tears.

The robbers, who sources claimed invaded the community looking for money, were disappointed and furious after discovering that there was “nothing on ground for them to steal.”

The sources added that irked by the situation, they left residents with machete injuries and raped minors.

Two members of the community, identified as Alhaji Hassan Woru, who was the head of the family; and his brother, Yunusa Woru, were attacked with machete by the robbers.

They also abducted and raped two girls who were later released to the community.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, Babawale Afolabi, confirmed the incident.

He said, “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the assailants while further investigations are ongoing.”

It was also gathered that the two with machete cut and the two minors were receiving medical treatment at the Woro General Hospital, in the Kaiama LGA.

Meanwhile, 34,000 police men are in Anambra state to help the military "dominate" the state. As more security personnel are deployed to the east over the next one week, i expect more successful attacks in other parts of the country where security have been stretched thin. Boko Haram Fighters Ambush Nigerian Security Operatives, Kill Two Policemen, One Soldier, Injure Many Others

Militants of the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād, have killed two policemen and a soldier during an ambush in Borno State.

Multiple military sources told SaharaReporters that the attack took place in Malam Fatori, the headquarters of Abadam Local Government Area of the state.

The dead officers were said to be members of a joint security team conducting clearance operations in the community.

An unspecified number of soldiers and policemen also sustained injuries in the attack while several weapons and ammunition belonging to the team were taken away, one of the sources said.

He said the insurgents in their hundreds ambushed the team who were on a clearance patrol in the area.

The attack comes a few weeks after the insurgents killed over 25 soldiers who were also on patrol in the Monguno area of Borno State.

Monguno is North, about 70km drive from Maiduguri, the state capital, and hosts thousands of Internally Displaced Persons mostly from Dikwa and Marte council areas.

“At least 25 soldiers have been confirmed dead, the authorities have contacted some of their families, their bodies are already deposited at the morgue,” a source had told SaharaReporters.

Boko Haram and its offshoot, Islamic State West Africa Province, have killed thousands and displaced millions in North-Eastern Nigeria.

The Nigerian military has repeatedly claimed that the insurgency had been largely defeated and frequently underplays any losses.

In the past months, soldiers have been targeted by insurgents.

Over 500 soldiers and officers have been reportedly killed since January 2021.

At least 33 soldiers were killed early in the year when two vehicles loaded with explosives rammed into a military convoy in Wulgo.

The suicide bombers were identified as Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and Bana Jundullah. The group also claimed four military vehicles were destroyed.

In February, about 20 soldiers were also killed in Malari, Borno State by the insurgents.

SaharaReporters gathered that the soldiers were on patrol to clear some Boko Haram elements in the area following a credible intelligence when they were ambushed by the group.

Daily Trust gathered that the security man, who was dressed in mufti, allegedly entered the market and attempted to arrest some suspected cattle rustlers.

“News filtered around the market that armed kidnappers entered the cattle market and they are attacking people a situation that forced traders park their wares while others abandoned their wares,” the source said.

Contacted, the spokesperson of Taraba Police Command, DSP Usman Abdullahi confirmed the incident but said the person who was beheaded is not a police man.

Politics / Soldiers Invade Isingwu, Enugu, Burn Houses, Kill Youths by abouzaid: 11:42pm On Nov 01, 2021
Soldiers of the Nigeria Army on Monday invaded Isingwu, a hamlet in Imama Village, Mgbowo in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State and burnt houses with an undisclosed number of youths killed for yet to be identified reasons.

However, some accounts claimed the soldiers were in the community to arrest an alleged leader of the Eastern Security Network, the security arm of Indigenous People of Biafra, who hailed from the community.

A source told our correspondent that the said suspect, known as Chocho, was said to be at large when the military personnel invaded around the community at about 5am and started shooting indiscriminately, burning houses including the family house of the said suspect.

“They torched his house and sprayed bullets in nearby compounds. In short, the soldiers who were chanting jihadist songs were burning properties in the community like they were at war with the community,” one of the sources told our correspondent.

Although an eyewitness, who pleaded not to be named, said there was no casualty during the attack, there are reports that undisclosed number of youths were killed during the invasion.

The source said, “The villagers were surprised at the invasion because there had not been any attack by ESN members in recent time. We have not had any issue with IPOB or its security wing ESN. In short, it is the ESN that stopped herdsmen kidnappings, killings and rape of women in the community and around Awgu council area. Where were the soldiers when the Fulani herdsmen were ruining the community before emergency of the ESN?”

He noted that before the Monday invasion the military had engaged in show of strength, parading the entire town everyday. This development, he said, made the people to live in fear.

However, Coalition of South East Youth Leaders has condemned the gruesome killings of innocent civilians and burning of their houses and properties by soldiers in the South-East describing it as “wicked, villainous and barbaric”.

The group in a statement titled, ‘The Nigeria Military’s murderous excesses in Awgu Local Government of Enugu State, an aberration to the rule of law,’ said the Nigerian military has no constitutional right to move into a civilian community and start shooting, killing and burning community houses, describing it as genocide and such act amount to ethnic cleansing.

The statement which was signed by the group’s President General and Publicity Secretary, Mr Goodluck Ibem and Comrade Okey Nworu respectively, said the burning of community houses or houses said to belong to a suspect or family can only mean one thing, that soldiers were Fulani terrorists executing jihad against Igbo.

The statement partly read, “The Military under the democratic setting is governed by constitutional norms. The Nigerian Constitution being the grand norm, absolutely prohibits the use of extra legal killings of citizens under section 33 (1).

“What on earth will make soldiers who are paid with taxpayers money to invade a civilian community killing anything on sight and burning down houses if not to conquer the territory.

“The plot to Fulanise and Islamise Nigeria is no longer a hinder agenda but an open one now. The Awgu genocide is a clear one for all to see.

The soldiers who came for the mission in Awgu were killing people and speaking Fulani and Hausa language. They were carefully handpicked by their sponsors for the wicked genocide mission.

We are very aware that the plot to annihilate Ndigbo for the Fulanis to take over Igboland is because the South East region are predominantly Christians. It is so sad that such genocide is happening in a supposed democratic administration were the rule of law, right to life and fundamental human rights are meant to be respected by the government.

Awgu is a peaceful and law-abiding community. The community has not been in the news for the wrong reasons. For the Nigerian military to move into a peaceful and and law-abiding community to kill innocent people while abusing those they are killing with Fulani and Hausa language means that there is more than meets the eye. Truly Igboland has been marked for take over by the Fulani using the Nigeria military but they will not succeed.

“We call on the South-East governors who are the Chief Security Officers of their various states to stand up on their feet and defend their states. If they keep quiet believing that they are secured because they have security around them, very soon the Fulani killers will get to them. The time to address and arrest the situation in the bud is now.”

The youth leaders however, called on the United Nations and the international community to immediately come to the aid of the people of South-East who have been marked for annihilation because they are Christians.

“We hereby demand for an independent panel of inquiry into the genocide committed by Nigerian soldiers in Isi-Ngwu community and the massive destruction of houses. The soldiers that carried out the burning and killings must be fished out and tried for committing war crime against the people.”

Meanwhile, efforts to get reaction of the Nigerian Army were unsuccessful as the spokesman of the military, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu could not take his calls or respond to text message at of the time of filing this report.

Also, when contacted on telephone, the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 82 Division, Major Abubakar Abdullahi, told our correspondent to give him some time, but after several hours, he sent a text saying “please get across to Director Army Public Relations”.

Politics / ISIS Releases Video Of 12-year-old Terrorist Executing Two Nigerian Soldiers by abouzaid: 5:41pm On Oct 31, 2021
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), also known as Daesh (Arabic) has released a video showing a 12-year-old member of ISWAP (Islamic State's West Africa Province), the breakaway Boko Haram faction executing two Nigerian soldiers.

In the 17-minute long video, the soldiers were shot dead by the insurgent with his AK-47.

The video which was called "Makers of Epic Battles" also covered other attacks from ISWAP's spring campaign in Borno and Yobe states in 2021.

Analysing the footage, Tomasz Rolbiecki, a researcher on Islamic State’s attacks worldwide described the execution as “awful.”

“There are no words to describe how awful it is,” Rolbiecki posted on Twitter.

He continued, “In general, the video is mainly covering the attacks from ISWAP's spring campaign in northern Borno and Yobe, although there are also clips from southeastern and southwestern parts of Borno state.

“Most of the footage had been published in photo reports long before this video was released. Daesh has been doing it for years. However, there is also some new material.

“ISWAP confirms the militants are using an APC (seems like a Mowag Piranha variant) for the first time in a long time, if not ever. News of them using APCs and MRAPs have been circulating for a while now, but we have not seen a confirmation until now.

“The attack on Gajiram is next. It is difficult to say which one is it since there were several in the last year, and the footage was not released previously in any form.

“Then ISWAP shows an IED attack which must have happened in Mallam Fatori (I do not have the exact date). A video shot by one of the soldiers attacked by that IED is used by the militants to show the aftermath. That is a technique sometimes used by Daesh.

“After that, a clip from Geidam, in Yobe State, is shown. This was the attack from 23 April, in which ISWAP briefly established control over the town. We have seen most of that footage previously as well.”

Politics / Boko Haram Kills Two MOPOL In Damboa Attack by abouzaid: 9:38pm On Oct 29, 2021
Boko Haram insurgents have killed two mobile policemen in a fresh attack on Damboa town in Borno State.

According to sources in the humanitarian community, the insurgents also burnt down the MOPOL station which served as a barracks, as well as the civilian JTF Outpost in the town.

“The insurgents drove into Damboa from Biu Road around 5.30pm on Thursday in eight gun trucks and operated for over one hour.

“When they got into the town, they headed straight to the MOPOL barracks and started shooting indiscriminately. They killed two MOPOL and razed down the whole building. They also burnt down two MOPOL vehicles.

“Afterwards, they headed to the CJTF Outpost and set it on fire. They also burnt one vehicle of the CJTF,” the humanitarian source disclosed.

The source also revealed that the troops of the Nigerian Army repelled the attack but could not ascertain if there was any casualty on the side of the terrorists.
