As soon as earnings call day is approaching, set your account to sell stocks if they drop below a certain amount. Especially these new companies that are still loss making. I learned that the hard way, it is well.

This is okay for speculative trade. For long term investment, other factors beyond price should be considered.

Today's leading companies were totally under the radar a couple of years ago. Just for example, today's Tesla of $1,208 was trading for just $211 last August; that's less than a year ago!

A guy on tradeview said he bougth TESLA at $140! Yesterday I read on Bamboo that early this year somebody bougth approx 2,000 shares of INOVIO at $4 and sold at $32!

Loan is always a bad thing. Please, dont take loan. However, if you are compelled to take it, ask yourself why you need the money. Is it for revenue generation or spending on material things? Can you fulfil your monthly obligation without your monthly income?

I have seen $4,000 wiped off my portfolio but am not moving an inch. Its less than the gains that have come in.
We have seen worse days in March 2020. It is no longer doom and gloom like it appeared the last time.

I lost 50% of my gains. Now imagine that in addition with transaction fees for exiting and reentrying the market. If I did not jump off airline stocks it would have been worse. But like a wise broker once said, what you lose in money you gain in experience

Please read Yeryer's response. Did you state a sell order? For example, sell order at $60. If you did, then the system may not be able to execute your transaction until there is a willing buyer at that price. You can also reach out to Trove's customer care on why your transaction was not executed.

We are witnessing some serious short squeeze in the airline stock mixed with FOMO. American Airlines (AAL), had 35% of its shares shorted just last month. As the stock price rises, those short sellers have no choice but to buy in to limit their loss. Who can blame them, when Buffet turns bearish the world listens, but a little old rookie like me kept saying buy the airlines, it is literally free money. Seriously, even call options I bought yesterday has more than doubled.
I want to create a watch list of the beaten down stocks like airlines, hotels, retailers, movie theaters, parks, mall operators etc that were really affected by the lockdown and have a very high short interest. Welcome on board!! You've taken a bold step towarads a path I strongly believe will lead to financial independence if done right. I remember coming across a similar tread like this on nairaland some years ago and that's was how I started investing in the stock market. I like TD Ameritrade, it is a broker for serious investors.

I like all four airline stocks and I still believe buying them at these levels is literally free money. As the economy opens up, people will travel once more. And like you said, we still need the airlines, will the govt just let them all go bankrupt? I don't think so. Unlike the cruise lines, the airlines are essential and yes the government will step in to save them (maybe not all) just like they did with the big banks in 2008.

You plan to hold these stocks for over 6 months, so I think even with uncertainty and volatility in the travel sector, you will still come out ahead as long term investor.

I will urge you to get a general understading of graphs so as to identify potential resistance and floor levels, it may help you trim or add to your position along the way.

Marriott and other leisure and entertainment stocks have been beaten to a pulp. The risk reward at these levels are enticing especially for a long term investor. But like Dremanuel said, try not to put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your portfolio so it can withstand shocks in the market. Being fully invested in the travel and leisure space only can be risky, so if you have capital to buy more stocks, look into the health, consumer discretionary, financials and tech sectors.

No. Your order/transaction will be executed once market opens. I will advise you wait till market opens before making a buy order because there is no provision for cancelling an order (please confirm this yourself). A stock could be doing well pre-market, but suddenly falls once the market opens which migth be due to investors taking profits.
