Organizers of the Lagos Women Run are reveling in the success of the marathon and have pledged that the event would get better by the year.

Tayo Popoola, coordinator of the 10km race in honour of the wife of the Lagos State governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, said the aim is to make the race one of the best athletics event on the local scene.

“We are happy with the way everything went; there were no lapses, as everything went according to our plans. What we are now looking forward to is to add more colours and glamour so as to arouse the interest of sponsors and more participants,” she said, while adding that the state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, is always happy when he sees women engage in sports events, with a common purpose of eradicating vices which negatively affects womanhood.

Mrs Ambode commended the participants for their zeal in participating in the event, stressing the importance of healthy living through sports. She was represented by the chairperson of the Eredo LCDA, Olajumoke Salisu, who pointed that the first lady is a caring mother who wants the best for women and children.

Olamide Adeseun emerged champion with a time of 41:04.66 seconds to cart home the top prize of N500,000 alongside other goodies. Fadekemi Olude, who beat Adeseun to the title at the inaugural edition last year, placed second with a time of 41.53:05 to get N100,000 while Faustina Ogbu came third with a returning time of 43.10:98 to get N50,000. Rewards went to 25 others, with various cash prizes and over 100 others also getting medals.

A top official of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Uthman Okunnu, said the state will continue to justify its position as the sporting hub of Nigeria, with more sporting events.

Winners were presented with cash prizes and products from AFA Sports.

Fans of the Continental Basketball League were treated to an evening of basketball in all its glory at the just concluded All Star Games. On the 28th of May,the remodeled Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos was packed full as the West All Stars and the Central All Stars entertained the excited fans.

The evening was kick-started with an electrifying performance from Big Brother Nigeria winner, Efe Ejeba who performed his hit song, Based on Logistics. Basketballs were flying during the Three-Point Shoot-Out, where most teams in the league were represented, with Jordin Mayes of Lagos City Stars emerging as the winner.

In a rapid succession, the Cintron Slam Dunk Contest followed, with the players displaying immense skill and prowess in slamming the ball into the basket. Doug Thomas of Lagos City Stars emerged winner of the strongly contested contest. While speaking to members of the press, Thomas gave an emotional tribute and dedicated the trophy to his late younger brother who died just a day before.

At last came the All Star game which was sheer class as the thrilled fans cheered at every point. It was obvious the players had come to show off some skills, and they had a lot of fun doing just that. However, pressure increased by the last quarter, as both teams intensified their efforts to clinch the win. The game ended with a scoreboard of 119-113 in favour of the West All Stars. George Thomas of the Eko Kings emerged the MVP. "This is my first year playing pro basketball and I'm grateful to have won this MVP title. I have a great team and a great coach and I'm just happy and grateful," Thomas said.

During half-time, The CEO of CBL, Ugo Udezue, on behalf of the league recognised and presented awards to some exceptional people who have, in one way or the other, lent their support to the CBL. Some of the award recipients are the Special Advisor to the Lagos State Governor on Sports, Deji Tinubu, Deputy Managing Director, Deep Water of Total E &P, Musa Kida, Ayodeji Egbeyemi of LA Clippers, and Priscilla Adeboye of Wema Bank amongst others.

The All Star weekend was really an all star affair, as Chairman of Megalectrics, Chris Ubosi, Lilian Esoro, Sasha P, Kemi Adetiba, Ejike Ugboaja, Bizzle, Sensei Uche, and Eunice Omole, among others were present on the courtside cheering the teams.

According to Ejike Ugboaja, “What I have witnessed here is the best in Nigeria, close to the NBA. Thanks to Ugo and his team, as well as all the partners and sponsors".

With the All Star Weekend behind us, all focus is on the next round of games which will be between the final four teams: Eko Kings, Yaounde Giants, Abidjan Raiders, and Lagos City Stars. The games will be on June 3rd and 4th, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium and is billed to be the best of basketball and entertainment that Africans have ever seen on home soil.

CEO of the Continental Basketball League, Ugo Udezue, has said that the league is working hard at placing Africa amongst the world's top 3 basketball leagues. "We are yet to scratch the surface, and we will keep working together with our partners to give Africa and Africans a league that would make them proud all over the world," said Udezue.

If you have never been to the city of Abidjan, well, you might want to visit there! I went there during the weekend to watch the African Basketball League finals and I stayed at Radission Blu.

It was all round an interesting experience but the most exciting thing was meeting the man I now call my "Dream Man". First, I never knew how attractive Abidjan men could be. He is 6'2 with a nice French accent, though he speaks French and little English.

Although the Game was very interesting, with performances by Sound Sultan and Korra but seating at the courtside with my friends, all I could stare at was this handsome rouge.

He finally came up to talk to me and we ended up having a whirlwind weekend and we came to the next game together, which was the final game between Lagos Warriors and Abidjan Ramblers with Ramblers clinching the trophy for the first season.

All I can say is, I'm so excited for the next season in October where I hope we go to Abidjan again so I can be reunited with my Dream Man Jon.

But he hasn’t asked me out and we talk everyday.

The City of Abidjan was thrown into fun and excitement over the weekend as the African Basketball League hosted sport entertainment lovers to the Abidjan Basketball Challenge at the Palais des sports de Treichville, Abidjan.

The two days in Abidjan showcased more than basketball as African music stars and dancers spiced up the nights with electrifying performances. The Nigerian artistes were led by Sound Sultan, Chidinma, Korra and May D. D J Arafat and others were also on ground to entertain fans.

The arena with a capacity of over five thousand was packed full to capacity and tickets were already sold out before the tip off time.

Four teams participated at the Abidjan Basketball Challenge; Lagos Islanders, Lagos Stallions, Libreville Izobe of Gabon and the Abidjan Ramblers.

This is the first road trip for the Lagos Islanders and the Stallions.

Nigeria's most controversial actor, Jim Iyke was a Special Guest on AfricaMagic programme which was anchored by Joselyn Dumas. Responding to a question on why he had to kiss Nadia Buari, upon the latter’s arriving Dubai during the last season of his reality TV show, Jim Iyke Unscripted, the controversial actor said, he has a habit of kissing women openly, including his sisters.

He narrated a situation where he had to kiss three European ladies who accompanied his girl friend to the airport to welcome him, during one of his foreign trips, adding that he doesn’t see anything wrong with it.

As if that is not enough, Jim Iyke painted another scenario, where he had to kiss four actresses in the presence of their boy friends. “I have once kissed them on set, and so, when walked into the room where two of them were with their boy friends, I kissed them one after the other and their boy friends were mad at me. I have also kissed over 200 actresses on set and nobody is talking about it,” he enthused.

He, however, declined to comment on his relationship with Nadia Buari. But there are indications that the two unconfirmed love-birds may be hitting your TV screens again for the second season of Jim Iyke Unscripted. Jim disclosed that the reality show will soon hit the screens again.
Explaining the idea behind the show, Jim Iyke said, he needed to present a true picture of who he is, to the world. “I have to be introspective. Many times, a lot of negative things have been said about me in the media. It is not basically about what they say about you, it is about you believing in yourself. The first thing is, what I believe in, and what people say about me is secondary. I have always been particular about paparazzi. I was very sceptical to allow cameras into my life, into my home and family. The argument was superior ; it was like all these years everybody has different opinions about you. Why don’t you give them a clear picture of who you are. So I decided to start the TV reality show,”Jim Iyke explained.

The fire which started at about after 5pm on November 3rd was as a result of electrical park and it spread like wild fire within minutes.

Goods worth millions of naira if not billions were lost as a result of the inferno.

About 5 Fire fighters arrived the scene within an hour but got short of water and went to refill.

Ace comedian Ali Baba has advised President Buhari to tackle corruption and Punish all those who have themselves rich by stealing from the government.

According to him, he is not seeking political appointment even though he has been offered it several times, however he asked PMB to jail corrupt officials, withdraw

Star actress ,Genevieve Nnaji, is spilling the tea on the first production “Road To Yesterday”, why she finally decided to make a go at producing her own movie after so long in the business and she’s also giving out advise on

When asked if the movie marks her return to acting she said,
I never left but now that I am produc­ing movies, I will definitely produce another one. I might not perform in all the movies produced by The Entertainment Network (TEN). TEN will keep producing movies for Nigeria, in Nigeria and with Nigerians. I will still look out for offers that come my way and I hope to get something good.
How would you describe the film and where was it shot?
It is intelligent, mentally challenging, intriguing and if you are an adult or you are in an adult relationship, you should watch the film. The movie was shot in Lagos.
Many of your colleagues prefer going abroad to shoot their films, why did you opt to do yours locally even as it’s your first work?
I cannot imagine going outside Nigeria to shoot my first movie. The story demanded that it is shot here. I would want to produce my first movie in an industry that I am a product of and keep it true to the nation. The Entertainment Network is focused on grooming local talents. If we want to do a feature film that is whole­heartedly Nigerian, we need to do it here.
Does any part of the film reflect anything about Genevieve either as an individual or thespian?
That is the fact that I don’t dwell on bad situations for too long before moving on.
If you were to advice a Genevieve on how best to protect her relationship, marriage and image, what would you say to her?
I would tell her never take anyone for granted. If you love someone, don’t waste time in letting them know. Life is too short and we have to make every minute count.
After Road to Yesterday what’s next?
We are already working on another movie which is veering towards comedy, with bigger and more famous stars. My fans should keep their fingers crossed; we should be working on our next project in a couple of months.
