In an interview with Showtime Weekly,Nollywood's bad boy Jim Iyke opened up about his personal life, career, reality shows and how he has acquired over 200 sunglasses. Here is an extract from the interview: With kidnap cases being a common trend, do you entertain fears that you could be a victim? There is a certain way I live and I believe people only attract what they feel and what they love. So, if I have fears, what I would attract would be fears and misgivings. I am completely fearless about these things because it is a law of attraction. I have no fear of gunmen or kidnappers because I have not wronged anybody for them to want to harm me. I drive out at 2am and go back to my house at 4am. I just believe that every morning when I get on my knees and pray, God knows my intention. He knows that I am going for my daily bread and I am not in anybody's way. Though, I have made my mistakes, I have repented from them and go about my business. Now that you have joined the league of celebrities running reality shows, what aspect of your personality will you portray? I don't know if I should call it shocking, but I like moving around my house naked. I feel I am always dressed in public, so when I am inside my house, I should enjoy the freedom that comes from not being tied down with clothes. So, you will see me moving around with parts of my body blurred by the camera. There is an impression you are an arrogant and unfriendly person? One of the reasons I am running the show is to allow people see and understand a lot of things about the real me. I deal with people on a daily basis and they do not understand that certain pressures can make somebody appear rude or arrogant. Shyness can make someone appear rude and unfriendly. But the show will feature the pressure I go through daily and the way I cope with that pressure. You are a sunglasses freak too? I have about 125 pairs. My personal assistants and people who come to my house keep stealing them. Also, I have been a collector of all kinds of stuff-shoes and sneakers. I think I own about 200 pairs; it is not something to brag about, this is a form of art for me, just like the way people collect stamps. I like shoes and I collect them. I keep the ones my mother owned in the 60s and the ones my aunts owned in the 70s. I get shoes that are much branded and are limited edition. For me it is not just about fashion statement anymore, it is art. Read more http://www.toniaodili.com/2013/05/i-move-around-my-house-jim-iyke.html?m=0

Banky W spoke at the Oxford Pan African Conference today,May 4 2013, in London. His spoke about the importance of pride in music. Here is an extract from his speech: "We must take part in the conversation and even lead the dialogue," BankyW tells the session on getting citizens engaged in reforming the continent's politics. "We must do better. When we finally turn the corner on corrupt leadership .. when we invest, rather than loot .. when we move past just having potential, to actually living that potential as citizens and as a continent, then the African renaissance will be fully realized. It is cool to be African". "By and large, media and the arts have been just as important in redefining the continent as anything else," BankyW says, adding that the continent needs to make significant strides to improve patenting rights for artists and distribution networks. "We are far from where we started but we are not quite where we want to be but we are on the way to getting there". "In my city Lagos, the economic transformation is evident. We are not at the finish line but there is physical proof that good governance can yield results," award-winning artist BankyW tells the panel. In an exclusive interview with the Daily Sun, Big Brother Africa All Stars Winner,Uti Nwachukwu, opened up about his early childhood, family, stardom and women. Here is an extract from the interview: Jealous lover He says: “I am an extremely jealous guy but I am praying to God to make me less jealous and less possessive. I believe that if you find somebody that’s for you, that person should be for you only. I’m a bit extreme because my lover must focus on only me. Now that’s a bit difficult and that’s why I say I am a very difficult person to be with. Perhaps, I’m very demanding when it comes to relationships. “Apart from being a jealous lover I also expect you to give back to me what I am giving you. I expect 100 per cent attention and care and nothing less. So, it’s going to be hard but I know God gave me this standard in order to connect me with the exact person he has created for me.” Stardom and women “I grew up around many women so it’s nothing special,” he discloses. “I have been getting a lot of attention right from when I was a kid. Even in school, I was a very cute kid and I had women all around me so it’s nothing special. The attention doesn’t make me out of character; I am not lost in the whole thing. “I guess like they say, ‘God knows why he did not give lions horns’ because there are some people who would have this level of fame and would be swamped by women, sleeping with everything that comes in skirts but I am not like that.”“I see the female attention I get as appreciation for what I do and what God has made me to become and so it never gets to my head. I attribute it to maturity because fame did not come when I was a teenager but at 27 when I had seen and done it all. By then I had already done all the ‘doables’. I used to be very adventurous; I have had all shapes, sizes and colours of women, so for me, the fame came at the right time with the right discipline. I am not carried away.” Marriage When is he going to tie the knot? He responds thus: “I don’t know. I guess when ever God says I am going to get married I will get married. You will know when it is time but I haven’t met anyone that will make me say ‘I want to spend the rest of my life with you.’ I have met people that made me feel comfortable here and now but when you look at it from the long-term perspective I am not moved yet.” Then he adds confidently: “When I meet my wife I will know. I am extremely selective and my standards are sometimes unrealistically high. With the kind of mother and sisters I have, I don’t have a choice but to set my standards high. My sisters have made wonderful wives so it’s only right that I don’t settle for less. Read more http://www.toniaodili.com/2013/05/my-standards-for-women-are-very-high.html?m=0

Hafiz Oyetoro is a popular Nigerian actor that is commonly branded Saka , a character he played in the much celebrated TV comedy soap ‘’House Apart’’.He is an excellent cross-over artist, as he easily switches language from English to Yoruba movies, drama series and sitcoms. An extra feather in his richly titled cap? - He is well renowned for his roles in advertorial campaigns from telecommunications company Etisalat. Now, the bombshell: Saka has jumped ship and pitched his tent with rival company, telecoms giant MTN.The news is that MTN has kicked off their television commercial for the recently activated Number Portability Scheme with Saka gladly announcing he has ‘upgraded’ to MTN. The ad begins with Saka dressed in green traditional attire only to transform into bright yellow attire as he leads a music band. ‘I don port o, I don port go MTN. I don upgrade to MTN‘, Saka chants and dances. Some anonymous sources confirm that Saka got paid a whooping N20m for this new deal. The ad starts with Saka dressed in green traditional attire - which probably stands for Etisalat, lol - only to transform into bright yellow attire - MTN - as he leads a music band. Of course, many tongues are already wagging about the move.A common question on their lips is: ‘’didn’t Saka have an exclusive contract with Etisalat or was he being paid per campaign’’? The author, who underscored the fact that he was on the creative team that worked for Etisalat to create the Saka image, says the character had already been constructed. This occurrence wasn’t one of Hafiz Oyetoro being a star appearance. He simply auditioned for the role (like many others) and triumphed. He was placed on a contract, executed it with precision and was disengaged. In other words, he was treated as a model, paid to do a job and move on to the next. He sure did. This is where Etisalat may have goofed. Saka has become a household name, winning an AMVCA for his role on the sitcom ‘House Apart’ and was warmly received as he accepted his trophy. He had become almost as synonymous with the Etisalat brand as Jenifa (Funke Akindele) is with Globacom. He deserved the star treatment, a renegotiation of terms. Why everyone else realized this except the hot shots at Etisalat will remain a question that will likely haunt them for a while. The masterminds of the switch? They are no other than the brilliant minds at DDB, MTN’s creative agency, who spotted this window of opportunity. To rephrase, they simply capitalized on the obvious and saw gold where Etisalat saw chaff. Subscribers’responses and potential riposte from Etisalat: Some users believe that MTN made the desperate move, making Saka jump ship because the recently launched ‘number portability scheme’ might not be beneficial to them, mainly due to their perceived high-pricing. The company has often received a lot of black lash from consumers on Social media who had promised to leave the network once the scheme is launched. At present, a bloggers forum is contemplating on creating a ‘migrate away from MTN’ campaign. While Etisalat cannot but face a minor setback before of course launching their own campaign (maybe prompt MTN ambassadors Osuofia and Mama G to do a volte-face and jump on board?), MTN will relish the moment. Saka however comes out as the biggest winner walking home with millions of cash and the hype. Feel free to write in and express your views on the matter. Faze Opens Up About Tuface's Relationship with Blackface In an interview with showtime,Faze opened up about Tuface and Blackface: How do you feel today that 2face is a superstar as well as yourself, but Black Face is yet to hit the mark? Black Face is also going to be big. Everybody seems to be supporting him financially, and it takes a lot for people to believe in you. Black Face wrote almost all the songs we had in our first album, so, he has potentials. He has management challenges and people that believe in him. We must be frank, we have some junk music in the industry but they sell because they have financial backups to pay for publicity and other things. These days, if you are bringing out an album, it has to be well packaged, it has to generate noise. I’m working on something with him to make sure he bounces back. Since you know his problem, why didn’t you…? He’s going to be big. Everybody has his time But don’t you think it’s getting too late? Nothing is too late. He just needs a single and I’m working with him on his album because he was involved in my career. I remember when I wanted to go for a singing competition. I was young and scared of the unexpected because there were so many ladies there that could sing well. I didn’t want to involve myself because I noticed judges were usually partial when it comes to ladies. It was a live performance but Black Face encouraged me to go ahead. He accompanied me to the competition and I won at the end of the day. So, it’s the same spirit that I’m trying to give back to him. Whenever, we sit and write songs together, he writes in a different dimension. I think the only thing he needs to do is take his time and not to be in a hurry. It appears you are more passionate about Black Face than 2face? No, it’s not like that. 2Face is already big and Black Face will still grow. Most of the times when he’s down, I sit with him because I know his kind of person. He has talent and he has his fans. What is left is for him to give his fans the right music to listen to and enjoy. So why didn’t you speak with 2face to lend him a support? What he needs isn’t financial support. We are working together to bring out the right songs. What’s 2face doing about it? I’m sure both of them meet to discuss on their own, you know they are from the same area. I can only speak for myself that whatever I do for Black Face, I’m not helping myself, he’s helping me. I’m still going to do one or two songs with 2face in future. But I’m doing everything to make sure things work out well for Black Face. We are all looking for money to take care of our responsibilities. The highest we can do is work together and make more money. Black Face has been helpful to me even financially so, it’s on both sides. Why were you and Black Face absent at Tuface’s Dubai wedding? I was in Dubai but got to the venue very late. I had other functions I was attending to. People saw me because we were together at the club. Black Face has his own reason he didn’t make it. But you are his friend and you should know better He must have his reasons. Maybe, he didn’t have money for the ticket…? It’s not about the money because tickets don’t cost that much. He must have his own reasons. Tuface had his reasons he didn’t invite him too. After all, when Black Face did his wedding, none of us was there.
